Hi Hollyhock,

Thank you for the feedback!

When applying to the neck, testers have reported best effects by applying all the way up to the top of the neck, above the hairline to the base of the skull.

I tried applying the lotion to my face, but it really irritated my eyes. The aloe/melatonin mix did not irritate my eyes at all when applying to the face area around the eyes.

Apple Cider Vinegar for Skin Tag

After reading posts on ACV for skin tags and the success of so many I decided to give it a try. Soaked a small gauze with ACV and held it in place with a bandaid. Just wore it thru the day. I removed the bandaid to shower the same evening and to my surprise and delight, the skintag was gone!! Probably 12 hours and it's history. I used Organic ACV. No burning, no discomfort, but wonderful results.

Thanks Art! I would say it only has helped a little, but it does have a relaxing effect (I only use it at night before bed). I also apply some on my neck, which gives me trouble, and it relaxes that area. I will continue using it for such benefit! I never thought about applying to my face, I will give that a try as well! Thank you for the idea and the recipe!

Lemon Juice for Chilblains

Lemon juice is very rich in useful nutrients that help in improving the health of your skin. – Undiluted lemon juice, taken internally and applied to the skin, is an old folk remedy. You have to apply fresh lemon juice on the affected areas to treat the symptoms of itching and inflammation. This remedy also works against fungal chilblains. Not only this, it is also advised to consume lemon juice every day to help the blood vessels to recover effectively.

Lemon for Chilblains - BANISH THOSE CHILBLAINS - Chronicle (Adelaide SA 1895 - 1954) - 15 May 1930 https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/90055490

I have found that mixing lemon juice with Aloe vera gel “fresh” or Glycerin 1:1 ratio applied 2x daily for a week works great (see article below). Or, You can apply lemon juice “undiluted” directly to the affected part of skin few times in a day.

Hi Marsh,

Thank you very much for the thoughtful words! You said it correctly on things working for some and not others.

My main disappointment with melatonin is that not everyone is able to tolerate oral melatonin, but it seems that melatonin gotten through natural means seems to avoid this problem and most if not all side effects. I wrote about natural ways to get melatonin for this reason. I added other ways after I had posted the initial writing, so you will also have to read the replies to see a total of about 7 or 8 different ways to increase your melatonin levels naturally. Here is the link to that article :

Hi Hollyhock,

Thank you for the feedback on using Aloe Vera Gel as a substitute for Cetaphil lotion to make melatonin lotion. I make the same aloe/melatonin mix because I can apply it to my face without irritating my eyes. Melatonin is considered beneficial for the skin among its many attributes and aloe gel has shown the ability to act as a transdermal penetration enhancer while also being beneficial for the skin, so the two together seems like they should be more beneficial for the skin than either one alone. I am satisfied with the aloe/melatonin combo for my face but I haven't written about it previously on EC.

I still use the Cetaphil mix also because it can be more moisturizing in areas of application over dry skin.

I remember you saying you were going to make the lotion about four months ago, but I never saw your feedback. Did it help your hip and back pains and have you found any other uses for it?

Thank you again for the feedback!

  Garlic for Boils

Hi how much raw garlic did you eat every day? I tried raw garlic before and it gave me fast heartbeat. But I think I should try it again. I do eat toasted garlic with turmeric powder and olive oil, but that has way less Allicin.

My dermatologist gave me a prescription cream I use to relieve the itching of Grover's but it really doesn't help. I want to try the vitamin D regime you used. Only thing I have is vitamin D3, is this the same as what you are taking? This itching is driving me crazy. Thanks

Well said, Art. One size does not fit all. What works for one, does not work for another, hence the reason some people will feel great on one prescription but another will suffer from one or more of the negative symptoms (I roll my eyes at the 2-3 page ads that follow a pharmaceutical advertisement). Many thanks for your contributions, you've been a Godsend to me and my family on many occasions.

I know it's been several months since your post, but I wanted to tell you there's a great book called The Yeast Connection, by Dr William Crook, that helped me so much when my son got thrush and I had ductal yeast infections- a condition almost never mentioned that is actually quite common and also incredibly painful. Oregano oil is very strong, but I used to put it on my son's feet at night with socks on top to absorb that way. Coconut oil should be a very big help. I gave my kids coconut oil twice a day from three years old (when I discovered how much it helped them). I would give them one teaspoon or more, twice a day, either in their food or off a spoon. I would also give them the same amount of Manuka honey. They did not miss one day of school in 12 years and counting. It's ok to give them more if they are not feeling well- we would do every 30 minutes for about 4 hours, and they would be completely better. Wash the laundry in HOT water with regular white vinegar, or even 30% vinegar if they have it at your hardware store or plant store. Yeast can stick around for YEARS if it's not cleaned properly. I gave up on many bras and replaced them to break the chain of re-infection. I am a HUGE believer in Borax, but I did not know about it at the time- I would have definitely been using that, too.
