My mini-Aussie came into my life unexpectedly. I asked a friend what she fed her dog. Taste of the Wild. So I started giving him the beef and bison formula. He started scratching and biting at himself like crazy. A pet food store in Colorado recommended taking him off Taste of the Wild and putting him on a salmon-based kibble. Within 4 days his scratching and biting stopped. I now give him half raw beef/ half kibble. When I can afford it- I'll give him all raw meat.

I hope you/Donna consulted with a Holistic or Naturopathic Vet about your cat. If there isn't one near you, maybe you could learn enough in an online consultation to be of help.

Researching Catnip & using it myself, I discovered that when *ingested* it RELAXES one's MUSCLES ... (& also induces the body to perspire a little ... a welcome added relief for a hot day or night)! I wonder whether this relaxation of the muscles might help with your cat's twitching for a few hours at a time. Many cats will eat some, & often chill out for awhile afterwards. (It has helped me go to sleep on a hot summer's night many a time! )

Multiple Supplements for Young Dog With Advanced Lung Cancer

German Shepherd

He is almost three. Now has aggressive advanced lung cancer. And. Myocarditis. And I am taking him to to the vet today again. Is chewing through a spot in his skin by his hips. Overall since starting supplements and feeding raw only he seems better. Less hunched over struggling to cough out something. Haven't found any blood anymore. He is no longer panting terribly. Only occasionally. His eyes seem less glazed over. His mood better. More energy. I am supplementing very widely, lots of the best and different supplements. Appetite good.

With all the supplements he still eats up absolutely everything. The main issue now is the terrible itching. And the spot he has managed to damage. I am spraying down his coat with ACV, and alternating with colloidal silver. Today I brushed in DME. He has also lost a lot of muscle! I am concerned adding twenty supplements in one meal may interfere with absorption. He is on pancreatic enzymes. And I add DMSO to his meal. I am heavily supplementing sulfur. As long as he has good moments I will keep fighting. He sleeps snuggled on the bed nightly with me. As massive as he is. Such a sweetheart. I live alone. I am struggling to keep positive. My other GSDs coat maybe also affected. Will see what vet says in a few hours.

DILUTE the ACV first, 50/50 with water!

And do NOT rub ANYTHING into a wound with a brush!

Be CAREFUL to read all the positive experiences & learn from them! And the articles above them, too!

I used Dr. Schulze's Heart formula liquid, dosing three times a day, along with large doses of coQ10 and other supplements for my dog that was diagnosed February of 2022. I did that Heart formula for about a solid month, but do still give her a capsule of Now cayenne daily. (She had been prescribed the Furosemide and Enalapril but I stopped after a couple of days because it made her like a zombie.) She'll be 16 years old in November. The Vet had said she'd be dead in several months of her diagnosis, but now said she won't be dying from it.

Hi Katie,

My friend's dog has CHF. She has him on 4 prescriptions. Today they had to drain fluid from his abdomen. They're talking about euthanizing him. I've been going to her house twice a day to make sure he gets his meds. He has lost a lot of weight. That's another reason I started going everyday. To make sure he eats. He started doing better because I was making him eat and drink. I bought him the standard process Cardio plus. It should be here tomorrow. The vets here don't believe in natural healing and there's not any holistic vets anywhere close to us. The people at pet well being said young at heart can't be taken with his prescriptions. What would you recommend that I give him and how much? Theracurmin, cardio plus? I'll do whatever it takes. Thank you.

He's on FUROSEMIDE 40mg. 1/2 tab every 12 hours, PIMOBENDAN 5mg 1/2 tab every 12 hours, ENALPRIL 2.5 mg 1 tab daily. and today they added spironolactone 25mg 1/2 tab daily at noon.

EC: So sorry, Katie hasn't posted on Earth Clinic in quite a few years, so you are unlikely to hear back from her.

Hi Nick,

We have some information on Earth Clinic about activated charcoal and other remedies for Lyme Vaccination side effects. Here is the page: https://www.earthclinic.com/pets/remedies-for-side-effects-lyme-shot-dogs.html. I would personally try the charcoal poultice first if my dog was having side effects. Also, I would give it internally. Colloidal Silver might be a helpful remedy...

And in response to your reply about getting a biopsy, Art --

I learned when my elderly golden retriever had a huge lump around her shoulder blade from a woman who has a well-known Facebook page about the Tagamet protocol for cancer in dogs that you should be very careful with biopsies (especially for mast cell tumors) as they can spread cancer cells. I didn't read this until after my dog's tumor was biopsied. However, it grew rapidly and became enormous shortly after the biopsy, and she was gone within a few months. I can't say for sure the vet's needle aspiration caused the cancer cells to spread, but I just wanted to mention this even though Nick's post is about Lymphoma and Lyme Vaccine side effects.

Here's the Facebook page about the protocol with all the information. It works best on Mast Cell Tumors, not lymphoma unfortunately: https://www.facebook.com/TagametBenadrylCancerRemissionProtocol/

Nick, I hope your dog gets better very soon!

Nick,

If the vet is certain it is lymphoma, why doesn't he do the biopsy to confirm it, as discussed here?

https://vet.purdue.edu/wcorc/cancer-research/canine-lymphoma-research.php#:~:text=The best way to diagnose, lymph node (excisional biopsy).

Here is a relevant quote from the article :

' The best way to diagnose lymphoma is to perform a biopsy. A biopsy is a minor surgical procedure to remove a piece of lymph node or other organ affected by cancer.

The most common methods for lymph node biopsy are Tru-cut needle biopsy, incisional wedge biopsy, or removal of an entire lymph node (excisional biopsy). The larger the biopsy sample, the better the chance for an accurate diagnosis of lymphoma. '

Lyme Vaccination Side Effects in Dog

My dog (Boxer mix) received a Lyme vaccine Monday Jul 24th. On Friday (7/28) he started having facial tremors (vets won't officially call it a seizure but could have been), uncontrollable salivating, pacing. Saturday morning, symptoms progressed to not moving at all, wouldn't eat. Since then, he has been better with meds (Steroid, anti-seizure, antibiotics). Neurologist is certain this is Lymphoma, although all test results have come back fine/negative. He still says Lymphoma can fly under the radar. I just can't wrap my head around it being a coincidence that 4 days prior to this, he received a Lyme vaccine. Any insight on where to go from here would be much appreciated. It very well could be Lymphoma but I am having a hard time believing this coincidence.

NO, it should ONLY be SODIUM ASCORBATE! Calcium ascorbate is not utilized in either a cat or dog's body efficiently.

It sounds like this cat was nauseous.... I give my cats coconut oil when they get an acute tummy ache. If they won't eat it voluntarily, I smear it on one of their forefeet/legs for them to clean off. So far they've done so, & an hour later want to eat again. IF the catfood doesn't have live enzymes, those should be added.

Sorry I didn't see your post when you posted it! I hope your cat got better!

For now, tho, I'll share what I do for my community cats when they won't eat & seem to be uncomfortable, etc.... I offer them Coconut oil (or another natural treatment for food poisoning: GrapeFruit Seed Extract). If they won't voluntarily eat it, I wipe it all over their front paw/s. So far, even if not immediately, they have obligingly licked it off, and usually in about an hour they want their dinner. (I suspect they're eating next door, where it seems old food from a fridge is put outside for strays or opossums or? It often causes food poisoning, tho. The neighbors speak another language, so it's not easy to communicate.)

Apple Cider Vinegar Helping Prevent Fleas in Cat

I have given the raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar to both cats and dogs. I started giving some to my cats daily in their moist food. One cat that always has fleas worse than others seems to be flea free. She always has little scabs and flea droppings on her fur. She has no scabs or fleas that I can see. This has been my experience.

Re: Is Aloe Vera Toxic for Cats?

Posted by Pam E. (SouthWestern California) on 08/16/2023

It is only the *latex* that is found in small amounts in between the skin of the leaf & the clear gel that is toxic ... *not* the clear gel! This latex (yellow or white) is thoroughly *removed* from the gel-only products made for consumption. The clear 100% gel with NO preservatives & NO additives is *safe* for humans & pets.

Conventional medicine at one time used straight aloe latex to treat constipation, which was far too strong & extremely painful ... thus giving Aloe a much undeserved bad reputation for using any part of the Aloe for that purpose. However, the clear gel is a far cry from the latex, and very soothing & helpful. In some cases it works like a dream, while in others it may not work, but won't cause distress, either.

I stronly urge those afraid of using Aloe gel to consider this article:

Homeopathic Cantharsis for Feline UTI or Blockage

This site has been so helpful to me numerous times so I wanted to give back and share some information that was incredibly helpful to my cat. I got him when he was about three years old from the humane society. He has always suffered from periodic constipation so when I saw his straining last week that's what I thought he was experiencing. I gave him a supplement that assists with that. But two days later he continued to strain and it was in inappropriate places. Then we saw some very concentrated urine.

He is currently seven and had never had urinary issues so I never suspected it. After I saw the concentrated urine I gave him another supplement I have called Tinkle Tonic made by Animal Essentials. By that time the poor guy was so uncomfortable getting him to eat or drink was challenging. He began to have blood in what little urine he could get out. He loves goats milk so I would place the supplement in that. Money is very tight for me so spending hundreds of dollars at the vet was not my first option.

I got online and started doing some research on different homeopathics that may help. I have always had good results using them. I came across the remedy cantharis which assists with burning and decreased flow. I ordered the 30C strength and also ordered some drops from Homeopet (feline UTI) which had the cantharis in it as well as additional helpful remedies.

The drops state they can be put in food or water. Normally with homeopathic pellets, you wouldn't put them in food or drink because it contaminates them. If you have a docile cat then by all means put them directly in the side of the cat's mouth. My cat however will slash me to pieces. If he even sees a syringe or medicine bottle he runs. So I had no choice but to place both drops and pellets in his food or water. I believe he may have passed a stone.

Within three or four days he was back to his normal self and bouncing off of the walls. He's very high energy and it was all back and then some! No more straining, peeing in inappropriate places, or blood in the urine. I was so relieved for him and me. I felt so helpless knowing my baby was in pain. I just wanted to share with others. Last time I took a cat to the vet for this it was over $700 and that was fourteen years ago so I can only imagine what it would be now. I hope this information can help someone else.

These dewormers that are being given like ivermectin and fenben are causing some breeds to have adverse reactions. My dog wouldn't drink or eat, was very lethargic and kept falling and stumbling. Pet parents need to be careful in giving it as a treatment for cancer.
