Chronic Virus Remedies: Q&A

02/17/2012: Deborah from Chino Valley, Az replies: Hi Rob, High dosing of Vit. C doesn't work for every type of body, though can work amazingly well for some. What I have found works well for many is the herb Olive Leaf. It is fantastic for all virally-based infections and for overall liver health. It is renowned for its effectiveness with Herpes-related infections of all kinds (including Shingles).
I'm including a link for an article written by a U. S pharmacist for over 70 years. Of all the treatments he's aware of for Herpes, Olive Leaf is the way he advises to go. Pretty impressive statement from a pharmacist!
Best of luck to you ~
03/15/2012: Rob from Canada, Bc replies: Hi Deborah, I have been taking 3 capsules of olive leaf extract for just over two weeks now and just had my biggest outbreak yet :( so I am not sure if it works for me like the Vitamin C and has no effect on me as well. Rob
03/16/2012: Deborah from Chino Valley, Az replies: Hi Rob, I'm sorry to hear of the outbreak for the discomfort I'm sure it caused you, but want to encourage you not to give up. It is not uncommon for someone to have an extra-difficult outbreak as the body tries to clear itself of the virus. Remember that the skin is an organ of elimination, thus when it is trying to rid itself of something it will often appear worse. This is not true of every skin issue, but with a virally-based issue it is not uncommon at all. So don't give up too soon or become discouraged.
Also, your system might require a little additional support. If it was me, I would add in about 20 - 30 mg of zinc picolinate each evening with food to boost the immune system (zinc is often indicated for people who are working to clear herpes infections). I would also add in something a bit stronger than Olive Leaf to work with it as well, and that would be Oil of Oregano. I am including the link from this site that describes other users success with this oil in healing from Herpes.
If you scroll down the page about half-way, "Cured from Windy City" begins a post you may want to read.
Best brand of oregano oil I've come across is Oreganol, but there may be others.
So between the Olive Leaf, Zinc Picolinate and Oil of Oregano you will have a pretty potent combination of substances. Do not be discouraged if a difficult outbreak occurs as your body tries to heal itself. As the link above describes, the same thing happened to that reader and I have definitely seen this happen to others.
Be persistent, I'm sure you will find what helps you the most.
Best of luck, Deborah
06/22/2013: Anonymous from San Fran, California replies: First off, all vitamin C are not equally effective. I was taking Vitamin C capsules, then I read about a Vitamin C that is equivalent to getting a vitamin C IV. Lypo-Spheric is a liquid packet Vitamin C - it is the strongest oral Vitamin C ever. It has nanospheric particles are absorbed fully into the liver.
11/23/2009: Jeff from Shawnee, Ks/usa replies: any luck with the loss of taste/smell? my mom lost hers about 5 yrs. ago after a virus.
09/14/2011: Shreela from Houston, Tx replies: My former FIL had a friend that lost his sense of taste supposedly from a zinc defiency. According to my former FIL, his friend's sense of taste took over 6 months to return. This friend was very overweight and the loss of taste "helped" the friend lose a lot of weight. I don't remember why the friend's zinc became so low.
"Apple cider vinegar is anything but a storehouse of nutrients. A nutritional analysis of one tablespoon (more than the one or two teaspoons suggested to make a tonic) reveals that the golden liquid contains less than a ram of carbohydrate: minuscule amounts of calcium, iron, magnesium, sodium. copper, manganese, and phosphorus; and a mere 15 mg of potassium. The fiber, vitamin, and amino acid content is zero."
"As for the presence of any beneficial enzymes in apple cider vinegar or the "mother," food scientists doubt that any could thrive in the acid environment of the vinegar. Assuming any were present, though, they would be destroyed in the acid of the stomach when consumed and be of no use to the body."
Unfortunately, this is one of many examples of contradictions I've come across for just about any herb, spice, juice, etc. I would like to try.
In conclusion, I wish there were sites that agree on the healing properties of certain natural products but it seems to be quite a controversial issue.
Meanwhile, I'm still stuck off and on with the flu (tried the Cayenne concoction but it interfered with my anti-seizures (epilepsy) drug), I'm drinking green tea (found contradictions for that one too), purchased a bottle of high-quality Spirulina which is still unopened on account of certain warnings I found, etc.
So, any suggestions? Please don't tell me I should see a doctor, I'll only end-up with antibiotics that do more harm than good.. Thanks, Gene.
09/04/2009: B from Elkland, Mo replies: Food grade hydrogen peroxide therapy. Lookit up, works for a lot of things. really works great. Buy at health food store.
10/12/2012: Shanade21 from Brisbane, Qld, Australia replies: Have you tried kombucha tea? Very high in probiotics which is good for your imune system. Has ohter benefits as well such as protecting your body from cancer etc. The only thing you need to be careful of is that it can thin your blood so be careful about that. Other than that it is a super product and can be bought in health food stores, organic supermarkets etc. You can also learn to make it yourself. Just google "How to make Kombucha tea." Worth while. Hope you get better.
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: A common remedy of virus is licorice extract one teaspoon usually for a child but its taken twice a day. An adult dose will be one tablespoon. Certain virus sometimes get killed almost instantly (not 100%) with one drop of peppermint oil in 1/2 glass of water, well stirred. It is more helpful if 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda is added to the drinking water, of 1/2 glass with 3 drops of 3% H2O2, taken three times a day.
The body is going through acidosis and virus seems to grow. Hence, some supplement of zinc gluconate, such as 25 mg taken once every two days, based on my own experience seems to do the trick.
There are other antiviral remedies but it should be noted that my experience with people who had removal of the tonsils and other things, the first line of defense is removed and the viruses goes deeper into the body. Generally to avoid the problem, common remedies here usually do the trick. An alternative to the baking soda remedy is the following, that seems to help too:
1/4 teaspoon baking soda in 1/2 glass of water, 3 drops of H2O2 slow sipping 10 cc every ten minutes, until no more. The sore throat should reduce thereafter.
Then followed a drop of peppermint in 1/2 glass of water to help with the coughing. This one need not take in its entirety and can be taken whenever there's a cough. It is the only known remedy that has helped with my coughing consistently.
A lemon juice with some water is taken to further kill the virus. Is finally taken.
The three step has helped me reduce a severe sore throat using those and if I was a child, that is the remedy I will use.
It should be noted that zinc lozenges are available. A homemade nasal spray can be made with 5% xylitol and 5% sea salt, if some people have an appropriate nasal spray. Although I tend to use an ultrasonic humidifier where I smell the fog directly. Of course, I don't know if that device is available in other countries, but I often improvise from whatever devices are there in the market.
One small thing: peppermint is antiviral and seems to help with the ear infections too, if peppermint vapors happens to reach the appropriate areas.
Adding sea salt 1 teaspoon per liter of drinking water also helps kill the virus with greater salinity buildup in the body. It helps if 10 drops of H2O2 3% is added there too, food grade of course.
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Shari: Chills are viral in nature. So I would consider taking zinc gluconate and the other one that helped me was either cinnamon toothpicks, or a toothpick soaked clove oil and is dipped in a cup of water. The antiviral nature of the clove or sometimes cinnamon should reduce the chills. However, it is important, at least for me under that condition to add 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) in 1/2 glass of water taken twice or sometimes three times a day on an empty stomach. Alkalinity, zinc and clove are antiviral in nature and has helped me on many ocassions. However, in event of a chill or virus, I prefer to avoid oil pulling since body whenever it has the chills needs to reduce the oil or fat load, and is required whenever the body has the chills.
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies:
Dear Anthony: Whatever conditions you have, you must treat the conditions that are obvious to you first. That means to correct whatever imbalances present in your body.
my ph is a little acid and my urine is the same.
Your body appears to have bicarbonate deficiency. The best ways to raise your pH to near normal conditions is to take 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid to 1/2 glass of water, twice a day, once in the morning and once before bedtime. Allow the fizz to stop. This usual practice allows the body to absorb the needed bicarbonates and correct the acid/alkaline imbalances without the interference of foods you eat. If you can't get the citric acid, a good suitable substitute is lemon. Take one whole freshly squeezed lemon, that means you do it then and there, and add 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda. The lemon is superior than citric acid in one way in that it has the vitamin C. The downside is that it has some sugar.
I tend to be a purist and add vitamin C separately to raise my negative ORP and pH at the same time. However this is individual preference. The other formula appears to be 1/4 teaspoon ascorbic acid plus 1/4 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid. It is little larger dose here due to limitations of measurements.
I'm also a vegan i have not eating meat for 10 yrs now.
Four deficiencies common in vegan, iron, zinc, vitamin B12, amino acid imbalance. I will usually take vitamin B complex where most of the Bs are about 100 mg., three times a day. B12 might have absorption problems so getting a B12 injections will help. Taking some soy protein supplements will definitely help to balance the protein imbalances. Depending on how strict your vegan is, a whey protein is an extract of cow's milk. It is also rich in protein also.
Zinc supplements in form of zinc acetate, common therapeutic dose is between 25-50 mg/day. You can also try amino acid chelate, if need be.
To increase iron, the best ways is to take plenty of vitamin C. The preferred vitamin C is sodium ascorbate, which is a more alkaline form of vitamin C. If not just get ascorbic acid powder and mix with plenty of baking soda to neutralize it. More vitamin C will enhance iron absorption.
Eating plenty of seeds will enchance more minerals your body needs, such as pumpkin seeds (rich in zinc), sunflower seeds (rich in magnesium), and brazil nuts (rich in selenium). Consider eating some other seeds too such as apricot seeds and apple seeds. It is high in B17. You don't need to eat a lot for apricot and apple seeds. Just eat one or two fruits a day along with the seeds just to get the bases covered.
I had flu like symtoms almost 2 weeks ago i had the fever the coughing, so after my fever was gone after a few days.. i started gettin these red makes on my hands.
This condition I have seen cured overnight just by taking vitamin B complex, zinc, selenium, garlic, freshly squeezed lemon juice plus baking soda, and plenty of vitamin C.
Please monitor your pH until you reach normal levels. At the time, you should be o.k. Vary your dosage of baking soda accordingly. Some people consume more bicarbonates, some people less. The pH is an easy way to tell.
This is just the basics as more complicated ones require buying difficult to find salts. However this should be more than enough. Ted
07/09/2011: Ron from Mesa, Arizona replies: I live in Mesa Arizona and I would like to get some B12 shots but need a doctors note. Anyway around this?
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Dear Paula: You need to raise your body's immune system first before trying some external remedies. Take plenty of zinc acetate supplements like 25-50 mg. of it per day. IF you cannot find zinc acetate, then zinc citrate, zinc gluconate or zinc chloride will do. The other thing is making about 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda to 1/2 glass of water with 12 drops of 3% hydrogen peroxide. Take a slow small sip (about 5 cc per sip) over the course of about 2 or 3 hours should where the interval of sips is around 15 minute each. This should kill the throat viruses. This is a more permanent cure. Ted
