After reading the home remedies, I decided to try the Cayenne Pepper rinse. 1/8th of a tsp. Cayenne in a small half glass of warm water. It seemed to help and did not burn like I thought it would. I continued to read. Someone suggested pure Hydogen Peroxide. I thought, "Yeah, it will kill the germs!!" Gave that a whirl and although the pain is still there, swallowing is much more managable now. It doesnt feel like I'm swallowing a speed bump. I have had strep so often in my life, my doctor said that I am a "Carrier". I cannot give per say but if I come around with someone with Strep, I catch it like a magnet. That is great. I think next I'm going to try the Grapefruit Seed Extract. The person that wrote it said they have not been sick for 12 years... sounds good to me. Good luck all with the strep!!

My son had a sore throat for 3 days and was feeling so terrible I thought he might have mono. I brought him to the Dr. who did a throat culture that confirmed strep throat. I accepted the antibiotic prescription she gave us but didn't want to have it filled until I checked Earth Clinic. I have been a loyal reader for years and always recommend it to anyone who is sick. Anyway, since my son balks at taking the apple cider vinegar I decided to give oil of oregano a try before giving in to antibiotics. My kids have never had antibiotics, I have tried to steer clear of them so as to allow them to build a good immune system. I ended up buying oregano spirits, which is a tincture in alcohol, by mistake but it worked just fine. Within hours of his first dose there was a noticeable improvement and by the next day he was back to his old self. I gave him 10 drops in a glass of water every 6 hours for a day (I followed the dosing on the bottle). It worked like a charm.
Also, I read the post about using it on a cold sore and tried it when I felt one coming on my lip. I have tried Acetone, ACV, L- Arganine, and over the counter solutions but never had one stop right in its tracks like it did when I put the tiniest little bit on. Amazing! I will never be without a bottle of this in the house. Just had to share this with others as I was completely impressed!

I had strep throat last week and it was getting pretty bad with the pain. I tried gargling with ACV, drinking it with water, honey, cayenne pepper, etc. I even tried Amoxicillin from the doctor. Nothing helped me...until I tried Oil of Oregano. On Wednesday night, I took a couple doses and by Thursday morning, the pain was gone. Now, a week later, the strep is totally cleared. For me, this was the cure for my Strep. Oil of Oregano is great!

I don't know if you consider this a natural remedy or not, but oil of oregano has stopped strep-like sore throats very quickly for me and my wife. If it appears to be full-blown strep, I soak a cotton swab in oil of oregano and dab it directly on the inflamed area. If it's milder I can often place about 6 drops under my tongue and hold them until the mouth fills with saliva. I then gargle a bit to coat the back of the throat and swallow. The oil has a powerful burning taste but it has come through for us many times.

Oil of Oregano and Colloidal Silver spray cured my daughter's strep throat. I called my naturopath, who is also and MD, and he told me to use the colloidal silver and probiotics. I also added the oregano for safe measure. I dosed her just like "conventional" antibiotics, three times a day. Oil of Oregano - 1 capsule 3x a day (with food or it will upset the tummy!! )
Colliodal Silver (10 parts per million) spray to the back of the throat - 3x a day. Probiotics - 3x a day on a empty stomach.. At least 2 hours before or after the natural antibiotics.. Or it will render the probiotics ineffective. She was fever free within 2 doses, and sore throat free after the first day. I believe I kept her on the system for 7 days.
Word of caution - That man that turned blue from the silver spray?? He didn't use it like an antibiotic and took it every day for years. Don't do that! Use it like a medicine (only for bacterial infections) and only for 1 week at a time, and you will be fine. :)

I had a very bad flu that lasted more than a week, with cough and bad sore throat. I was beginning to feel better when I realized I had an infection of strep in my throat (the opportunistic infections that come at the end of a viral disease). I had it before so I know all the signs. I had the classic bumps on the back of my tongue, painful and difficult swallowing, headache, sense of alarm and so on. I felt horrible.
I remembered the remedy that Ted of Bangkok told me to do years ago. I took a little glass for liquor (the very small one for shots) and I filled half with water then I put about a quarter of a teaspoon of POTASSIUM BICARBONATE and I gargled. Some of it I put in my nose so that the water would flow to my throat. I did it repeatedly during the day. At the beginning every 15 minutes, then less. In 12 hours the pain had receded dramatically. The morning after the pain was completely gone. You can feel that it works right away. Just don't swallow it, not because potassium is dangerous per se, it is the quantity, you don't want to exceed in potassium because too much can be dangerous. But you just gargle with it so no problem. You must put enough potassium otherwise it doesn't work and it has to be bicarbonate. You must feel a very strong taste in the water.
As Ted explained to me, it is very basic and the strep bacteria just can't take it. They die right away. I didn't have to go to the doctor (before that remedy I had to take injections of penicillin for my strep throat, because it always got very bad). Not any more, thanks to the benefactor of humanity, Ted. May God protect him always.
Potassium bicarbonate is not easy to find. I found mine abroad. But I am sure that if you look over the internet you can find it somewhere. Just don't confuse it with other substances and when you get it, make sure to label it clearly "for gargles". It is incredibly powerful.
Other remedies like grape fruit seeds oil gargle and so on did not work for me. It was pretty bad already.

I had strep throat many years ago and tried fresh garlic, ACV gargle (this only made the throat feel worse), and liquid chlorophyll, among other natural remedies, without success. Then I asked at my health food store what to do and they suggested taking bee propolis (1) 500 mg. capsule 3 times a day with meals and drinking a tea called Throat Coat. They also suggested eating raw honey. I did follow everything they suggested, but it seemed to me that it was the raw honey that really cured it. I ate 1 Tablespoon straight off the spoon and swallowed it slowly a little at a time. I might have taken 3 Tablespoons throughout the day or possibly more. But raw honey was the one thing that immediately soothed the pain. I also took a dose of the cell salt Silica 3 times a day. It did take a few days to get over this, but each day there was an improvement. If I ever get strep throat again, I would rely on the raw honey and the Silica cell salts.

Salt and Water (Remedy): I have a sore throat remedy that i have used for many years now. It gradually reduces strep throat illnesses almost 100 percent of the time. I take one glass of water and i put an amount of salt in it (The amount of salt should be enough to taste like saltwater from a beach). I then gargle it for a couple of minutes, and I repeat the process often. You should see major results after the first time you do it, and complete recovery after a couple of days.

i woke up in the middle of the night with such a sore throat i couldnt swallow my own saliva. i thought i was going to die the pain was intensifying so quickly...anyway, i think its strep throat (i have a dry cough, my ears and joints are also sore and i feel like i have a slight fever). this is different to your regular mucous-cough or flu-sore throat, where anything like cayenne pepper or vinager seems to only temporarily relieve it, and actually aggravate it slightly...
my partner came up with two remedies that helped ease the pain so that i could swallow and even doze off for a bit. the most helpful was making up a steam bowl. half fill a large bowl with boiling water and squeeze 1 or 2 lemons and 2 tablespoons of honey. place on table where you can sit with your head over it, and drape a towel over your head, covering the whole bowl so that you`ve got a mini sauna for your head. breathe the vapours in through your mouth. keep going until the steam stops - even if it`s really hot! i could already feel a huge difference after a minute, being able to swallow without my whole body tensing up! by far the best.
im also sipping on sage and manuka honey tea (active) right now which is soothing and infinitely easier to drink than water right now - 2t sage which you get at the supermarket and 2t honey and brew and strain it like tea.
if you are in desperate pain like i was last night, then letting some ice roll to the back of your mouth helps the pain to dull enough for it to be bearable for a temporary solution.
if you have a killer sore throat i am in total sympathy with you...i hope this helps

omg i did not think that this would work. have been dealing with strep throat for about 3 weeks now. the antibiotics the doctors prescribed me only worked when i was on the meds. So i decided to look on the web for home cures and came to this site. I needed something thaat worked fast because i have finals this week and i did not want to get anyone sick nor miss my finals. so i looked in my cabinet and i did not have any cayenne pepper so i did the tabasco sauce remedy and it worked. first i gargled with 5 drops of tabasco and a glass of water, swallowing a little in between. Then about 30 mins later took 1/2 a teaspoon of tabasco sauce and sipped on some hot tea with lime juice and honey. so far it helped cure about 15% but i just started it about 45 mins ago. I am going to continue taking the tabasco sauce it helped with the ear pain and cleared my sinuses in like 2 mins. i would recommend this to everyone.

I want to thank you for this website. I have come here countless times for remedies; they work every time! I am so thankful to have this valuable resource for free!!! The most recent remedy that I tried was Tea Tree Oil for strep throat. I have had strep twice in my life. The first time I went to the doctor and got a prescription. It took about 3 days for the pain to subside enough for me to be able to eat. The second time I got strep was a month ago. I drank small doses of Tea Tree Oil several times a day and was able to swallow the next day with almost no tenderness. For me, Tea Tree Oil works miracles for strep.

Dear Ted, You seem quite knowledgeable on the topic of strep throat, I'm hoping you can help. My son 8yrs old is experiencing reoccurring strep throat and has had three rounds of antibiotics in the last two years. He has it again, today, and I've begun the cayenne pepper rinse, in addition to essential oil steams. He has red splotches on the back of his throat and only minor pain but he looks quite sick. I know the long-term risks of antibiotics and am determined to beat this. I came across a comment you made regarding alkalinity for strep (baking soda?). Should I just rinse his mouth/gargle a few times a day? Any advice you have would be greatly appreciated. I am considering a constitutional remedy (homeopath consultation) since I heard it is possible he could be a carrier and when he gets run down will get it over and over. Thank you for any time you can give to this."
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "You can do as many baking soda mouthwash rinse as you wish. When making a mixture, 1 tablespoon in 1/2 glass of water, should be a saturated solution enough, then add 3-6 drops of hydrogen peroxide 3% if possible. Do the mouthwash or sip very small amount so it FLOWS slowly down the throat (in amount of say 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon every 5 minutes - but try the 1/4 for a child. For an adult it is closer to like 1/2 to 1 teaspoon. If done for about 20 times, most of the pain should go away. Actually it is more like 10-15 times for me. The key is frequency of mouthwash rinse, and sipping that helps a lot.
Generally in a severe strep throat problem, I won't consider cayenne peppers. If you want to make a specialized mixture JUST only the mouthwash and no sipping, then add 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt, plus 1 tablespoon of baking soda, and 3-6 drops of H2O2 3%. If accidental swallowing, will cause loose stools, but sometimes the body needs to clear of itself of toxic buildup in the stomach.
There are many formulas I have against the strep throat, but much of the problem is actually obtaining the needed materials. Baking soda is perhaps the easiest to find. To increase the body's resistance, and in event of such sickness, usually 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with a small squeeze of lime (such as 4 teaspoon) and some 1/4 glass of water and let the child drink that. Wait for the fizz to finish reacting for about 5 minutes. This will alkalize the blood to prevent the strep or virus from entering the bloodstream. Usually a biofilm is formed before a major cold is underway and sometimes adding 1-2 drops of iodine tincture helps breaks down the biofilm in a mouthwash situation, if that were the case, but yours may not be necessary. Drink plenty of warm green tea, WITHOUT SUGAR AND WITHOUT MILK is necessary. You can do a swishing of green tea, in the mouth with a slow sip every minutes a much as you wish for this. The green tea will kill some strep, and break up the biofilm too. However, I will keep this green tea after the maximum mouthwash and sipping has been reached. Adding a pinch of sea salt in the green tea may further help kill, but this is usually not necessary unless the strep is aggressive and this kills the strep by hyperosmolarity.
I am not against homeopathy, but sometimes they put the homeopathic remedies in sugar cubes. Those are not recommended since the sugar fuels the strep throat. Avoid homeopathy that uses sugar. Keep homeopathic medicines away from mobile phones, t.v., radiator and microwave, they tend to get destroyed."
