Oregano Oil   6  0

Posted by Mimmings (Alpharetta, Ga) on 03/25/2014

[YEA]  My mom has always sworn by oil of oregano, but just recently did she convince me to try it. I have taken it the past 4 times I have had the hint of a sore throat, and it completely eliminated it! I had a sore throat yesterday, and put 3 drops in a small amount of water... I would say within an hour, my sore throat was gone and today I feel 100%! I am not sure how well it would work on a sore throat after a few days, as I have always knocked them out at the first sign. This stuff is amazing! It has a strong taste, but not awful, and it may burn a bit going down. You can chase it with a glass of cool water.

[YEA]  I recently began to have a sore throat and drank three drops of oregano oil in a oz of water three times of day for four days and sore throat went away without me even getting sicker.

[YEA]  For a sore throat I have found that Oil of Oregano works like a miracle cure. Apply one to three drops on the tongue, close your mouth and allow your saliva to wash it back towards your throat. You will feel a choking/burning sensation for about 10 to 20 seconds which will soon subside. Repeat as needed throughout the day. Usually by the second or third day, my symptoms have gone. During this time, stay away from processed foods and especially white sugar & sugar filled foods. Those little bacteria and viruses love that stuff. And remember to keep yourself hydrated - lots of water, not soda, not beer, not alcohol, not flavoured water, not crystal light, just H2O. Usually about 2 to 3 litres depending on your weight.

[YEA]  Sore Throat Remedy: Oil of Oregano, Honey & Water

From your local health shop you can usually find oil of oregano. It is super concentrated oil derived from oregano leave. If you research it is well know for its antibacterial properties. Apparently, and I believe it, it has the same antibacterial properties as lysol minus the toxicity.

I mixed two drops from 1:1 concentration formula (per the bottles instructions) to one ounce of water and a table spoon of honey. I gargled a bit then swallowed as it is perfectly safe to drink. And it doesn't taste that bad either.

The results were immediate. My sore throat went away in 5 minutes. I thought maybe I would have to follow-up
but no it was gone in 5 minutes. My throat was bad but not as bad as I have had as I get strept throat on occasion were I can't even eat because it hurts to swallow.

I see lots of people writing on the effects of cayenne pepper and am surprised noone has commented on oil of oregano. Try it it works!

[YEA]  Oil of oregano cured my son's sore throat in a moment. We used 4 drops of oil of oregano in about a cup of warm water. I wanted my son to gargle with it, but he felt it work immediately and wanted to swallow it. He gargled/swallowed the whole glass and announced he was completely pain free. We had tried all sorts of remedies and none of them worked for him. Thank you to the person that posted about oregano oil originally.

[YEA]  sore throat, colds ,flu, parasites. Oil of oregano - the king of herbs, books have been written about it, as well as many studies and years of tests. I myself have used it for many years with stellar results and also raves from thankful patients. A couple drops sublingually held for thirty seconds will get a bit intense. This will get it into your blood stream asap. Your sore throat will be gone in less than fifteen minutes.

Oregano Oil, Tamari Soy Sauce   1  0

Posted by Jo-jo74 (Philadelphia, Pa) on 06/30/2012

[YEA]  Oregano is a good option for sore throats. However, it's important to dilute it with something other than water, like honey or coconut oil. This way, there is less chance of throat irritation. (Oregano oil is strong! )
Option #2- Tamari soy sauce worked well as a gargle as an alternative to ACV or pickle juice.

Simply take a small packet of BC Powder and pour the powder on your tonque. Take about 1/4 glass of either water or tea into your mouth and swish this around until the powder is diluted. Now! Gargle as long as you can getting the mixture around the areas of your throat that is hurting.... then swallow.

In about 3 minutes you will feel the pain lessening... In about 15 minutes it will feel even better.... If the sore throat returns in a few hours repeat the same..... after the second or third time it usually will not come back....

You can think of me later.... go get the powder....

Paprika   1  0

Posted by Alison (Hull, UK) on 03/17/2007

[YEA]  Sore Throat Remedy: I only had Paprika in my cupboard so I used more - it's working as I type! Mixed it with honey, lemon, ginger, cinnamon and hot water and drank it as soon as I could. Bring it on!!

Peanut Butter   1  0

[WORKED TEMPORARILY]  PEANUT BUTTER
Out of curiosity, I tried eating a spoonful of chunky peanut butter to soothe my sore throat, and it worked! It lasted at least 1/2 an hour, but that's longer than any cough drops, tea, honey, or apple cider vinegar that I've tried. Half an hour isn't that long, but most of the scratchiness and soreness went down and continued for awhile after. It's a lot of calories, but if you're sick you probably won't be eating much, so won't be a problem. This is probably a good solution to do when your throat hurts really bad, between cough drops or tea, etc.

HARD LIQUOR
I've also found that drinking a shot of cheap alcohol, the kind that 'burns' as it goes down, works really well at numbing the throat. Either drink or gargle a shot's worth (or add it to warm water with salt).

Pear Juice   1  0

Posted by Sean (Chatham, VA) on 03/20/2007

[YEA]  Here is something that gets rid of sore throat pain for a while; Pear Juice. You can get bottled Pear Juice in the baby-food section of a grocery store. OR you can still find some pears canned in their own actual pear juice. (The juice from pears canned in "corn syrup", will not work.) It has to be real pear juice. This is a lot easier for kids to swallow, then something like cayenne pepper. I don't know why it works. I just know it does. I doubt its killing the bacteria/virus causing the sore throat. But it does get rid of the pain for a while.

This works because with some sore throats your throat is dry, the pear juice is thick and coats your throat and gets the mucas in your throat wet again. it is a quick fix but does not kill the germ.

Peppermint   1  0

Posted by Janine (Pittsburgh, USA) on 05/10/2008

[YEA]  When you want some caffeine and a way to relieve your sore throat at the same time, try 4 bags of peppermint tea with 4 bags of green tea steeped in 12 cups of hot water. It's very good and it relieves the throat instantly.

Lemon ginger water also works better than plain water to relieve a sore throat (the juice of a lemon and 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger root (squeezed through a garlic press a few times) in a 2 quart pitcher of water. More palatable than some of the other remedies I've seen here. Plus, it works!!

Pineapple Juice   3  0

Posted by Jade (NYC)

[YEA]  Pineapple juice! All you have to do is gargle with it, and it tastes good.

Posted by S (NJ)

[YEA]  I usually drink pineapple, as hot as I can stand it at the first sign of a cold. The morning after there are no more symptoms. This is also an amazing remedy for an established sore throat or voice loss due to a cold. I suffered with a raw throat and loss of my voice for 2 weeks, then someone suggested drinking hot pineapple juice... the next morning, I had my voice back and my throat was no longer raw.

[YEA]   "I had an aunt who was part Indian and she always heated pineapple juice for whatever ailed us when we were little. Pineapple/pineapple juice contains catalase (which is an important enzyme). It is good for stomach problems and it works in neutralizing H202 in your liver (people with vitiligo have a high level of H202 in their liver). So eat more pineapple!!! I am beginning to think that is what is in pseudocatalase cream.

Lou, I agree with you as far as pineapples goes, at least the real ones! In Europe now you see mostly the ultra-sweet ones which I believe are manipulated to produce always the sweetest pineapples. I try to stay away from those. Actually many fruit we eat now seems to be manipulated to contain more sugar, maybe to cover up the fact that they don't taste like anything anymore! I love kakis and till a little while ago I could find the traditional ones you eat very ripe, which are lovely but now I only find sharon fruit and those too are manipulated. They took away the tannin and they look just like they are made of plastic. I tried them a little while ago and it was almost like eating an apple just it wasn't an apple, very weird and they never seem to ripen.

Even pears nowadays are awfully sweet, too bad because we need the vitamins but not the sugar. When we go and live in our new house we will be growing quite a bit of fruit ourselves! The problem is that you have to stay away from the modern manipulated kinds!

Hi Francisca, My understanding of kakis (persimmon) is that the non astringent type, the one you eat crisp, is native to Japan and China, which I love I might add. I know with apples we should be eating the smaller old fashioned ones as the skin to the sweet flesh ratio is best, that is more nutrients via the skin and less sugar with less flesh.

Maria, as far as I understand the persimmons are actually genetically manipulated kakis. I think that because people hated the tannin when the kakis aren't very ripe they decided to create something that can be eaten while not very ripe. The original kakis can only be eaten when very ripe and soft and if you have eaten those you won't eat the persimmon again! I have done a lot of research because we will be moving to our new home in the countryside soon and we are working with a local gardener who is doing our garden so I wanted to be able to tell him which fruit trees we want exactly!

Sharon fruit and persimmon seem to be the same fruit. I kept a few persimmons in my warm living room for a few weeks and they never got soft like the real kakis! I tend to distrust all these new manipulated fruit, call me old..... So the gardener now knows which kind of kakis we want! You love the persimmon but have you ever tried the real kakis? Interestingly enough since we arrived here they had a lot of kakis for sale, ready to eat, very soft and I started eating them all day. Since then my digestion was very good. I seemed to be hungry all day something that never happens to me. They are now gone...... The season is short!

Yes Francisca! Where I live we have both but, like you said, once you taste a REAL ripe kaki, you can never eat the other ones. We try to take full advantage of their very short season, then dream about their heavenly taste till next year!!!

Hi Francisca, Yes I have had the persimmons that are very soft when ripe and yes they are yum. I had never heard the name kakis and had to do an internet search to see which fruit you were talking about as they are all called persimmons here. They are the only ones that are grown locally. Hard to get as they are not grown commercially where I live and there are not many old gardens that have them now. They are not a common fruit here in Oz and some have not even tried them.

Hi Maria and sorry about the confusion with the fruits... Here kakis are the soft and persimmons the manipulated ones. In Portugal where I come from we call them diospiros, a scientific name for this fruit. I think that most people are not familiar with them! My husband who is Welsh had never heard of them at all and he doesn't wish to try them. Too bad because it is sure that we are going to have them growing in our garden and I tell you, I noticed such a difference in my digestion when I started eating them regularly.... I knew them from my youth as my grandfather had a tree on his farm. Sharon fruit again is the same fruit but means the ones you eat while hard! Many people are put off this fruit because they don't understand that the tannin is a natural part of the unripe fruit! Maybe that was the reason you now have the modern version without any tannin at all! No idea they grew in Australia as here they are picked at the beginning of the winter and eaten around Christmas!

Hi Francisca, Well your hubby is missing out on a treat! They are full of lots of nutrients and again especially in the skin. Very interesting that they helped your digestion. It will be good when you can eat your own.

Remedies Needed   0  0

For the second time in 3 months, I have a sore throat that I caught on a plane. It was very slow to manifest (symptoms started last Wednesday), but kept me up all last night. When I got it in February, it was also slow to manifest and turned into a nasty bronchitis after a few weeks. I feel I have the exact same thing again. Can someone please make suggestions? I am taking colloidal silver every few hours, gargling with cayenne pepper, and supplementing with immune support mushrooms. Last time I did the same in additional to taking powerful oregano oil capsules and NOTHING WORKED. It kept going and going until I finally had to do a round of antibiotics. The doctor ascertained it was not strep throat last time, but some bacterial infection.

Also, since it feels exactly like what I got in February, do you think I never got rid of it? Thank you all for your suggestions!

Dear Jeanne,

About your sore throat...if it isn't responding to Cayenne and Silver it is a MEAN sore throat! I think you are right, it is probably the same from last time and never totally went away.

Are you doing Vitamin C? I would do tons of C. 1, 000 mg an hour. (Unless it gives you diarrhea, then cut back.)

Also, 1 clove crushed garlic every three hours. In honey, raw honey if possible. Not delicious. I take it with a little food.

Honey Vinegar Tea (2 T. each on a mug of hot water) a few times a day.

Would you happen to have any comfrey, marshmallow or slippery elm on hand? They all get kind of slimy when made into a tea and will help garlic or cayenne or whatever to stick to your throat. Slippery elm is supposed to be good for a sore throat.

Do you have a fever? And are you resting?

If weather permits, a little time in the sunshine would be helpful.

I hope you are feeling 100% soon!

Hello Jeanne;

Re the sore throat/bronchitis...

Yeah...riding in planes are notorious for recirculating the air and spreading germs from a few passengers; then anyone who is susceptible especially are subject to reinfection. And by susceptible, I mean those with a compromised immune system. You had already been infected a few time before, so it takes a while to rebuild the immune system.

The solution IS the Colloidal Silver but in your case especially you have to take it the right way as silver works BEST if directly applied: IRRIGATION.

Your infection is way back in the sinus cavity and now into the bronchial passages.

If me (and I just had to do it this last winter); I use a "Steam Inhaler" ... absolutely essential...REALLY...absolutely essential for any infection in the bronchial/lungs, even heart is important. I got my Inhaler at one of the drug stores...Walgreens I believe.

Second, make sure the CS you're using is strong enough. I make my own (being prone to sinus infections). I'm using about 200 ppm. I could get by with 15 ppm.

I am now using CS three times daily to attack some fungi that a Live Cell Microscopy discovered. And (drat! ) had to go with a big diet change; carb issue. And Jeanne, I'm an old guy... having to learn new tricks at my age...but I'm open to the new things, the things that require a new approach. So think carefully what I'm saying about the Inhaler. I only learned that "new trick" seven or eight years ago. When I use the Inhaler (when the infection goes from sinus to bronchial) I have to start the Inhaler quickly to keep it from being a multi week "event". I use it twice to three times daily and I must breathe DEEPLY for about three minutes with each use. If in my lungs, I assume infection is saturated within my system and so I drink the CS also.

A few times in my life I've felt like the infection is "stuck" in my sinus passage and used a Borax solution a few times to wash it out. (I use an ear syringe to squirt CS into sinus cavity. That gets it further back and deep into sinus cavity. Squirt gently of course.) I don't think the Borax killed the infection but I do think that if a "film" was protecting the microbes then the Borax may have exposed them to attack by the CS. Soon the stubborn infection was gone.

Now when a person first irrigates into sinus passage, expect to feel a big Stinging, especially on one side of sinues; the dominantly infected side. Then ten minutes later when re applying the irrigation, almost no stinging. (The CS is doing its job.) When doing an irrigation, I am sure not to forget the ear canals...if I have a bad infection the likelihood that the infection is in the ears/and Eustachian Tubes is probable.

Hope hearing what I do for infection is helpful.

To Mama to Many and Dave,

Thank you so much for responding to my post. I have been meaning to write you back but wanted to wait until I had fully cured my sore throat! I ended up trying all of your remedies.. inhaled colloidal silver, took garlic, drank apple cider vinegar. I also inhaled hydrogen peroxide. All the remedies helped a little bit, but a few days later, my sore throat came back with a vengence.I kept repeating the remedies. The sore throat keep coming back and coming back. I finally spoke with a doctor who told me that people are catching this virus on planes in the past 2 months and the sore throat comes and goes for weeks. He suggested rinsing the back of my throat, sinuses and ears a few times a day with water. I tried this too. Finally, 3 weeks into the sore throat saga , when the sore throat/virus was severely fatiguing me, I decided to snort colloidal silver up my nasal passages like Dave has suggested (hadn't done that). The next day I started to feel better andso I did it 2x/day for 2 more days. Today (3 days later after starting this method), I am almost 100% back to normal. Wow! Finally!! So, I'm guessing the virus was apparently lingering in my sinus passages, causing a mucous condition which was causing the sore throat.

I would recommend the colloidal silver "snort" method to anyone who just can't get rid of a sore throat! I think maybe snorting hydrogen peroxide would have worked too, but wanted to try the CS first. Note: the colloidal silver burned a little bit each time, but went away after a minute.

Thank you guys again and again and again!!!!!

Dear Jeanne,

Re; How to apply Colloidal Silver....

Good for you!

So many folks "try" CS but the culprit is back in the sinus passage... continually re infecting the throat, ears and whole body. But I keep finding people just won't irrigate a little aggressively.

I keep talking about using the palm of hand or syringe method to irrigate because one must get to the whole sinus cavity. WAY BACK IN THE SINUS CAVITY...and it takes some nerve to squirt that syringe with a bit of force to get the CS deep.

You did it....you brave lady!!!

And got the benefits of a full dose CS treatment. I would recommend you "snort" ten more times (as you call it) and drink the CS twice daily. You had a nasty infection and it might have gotten into your system so better make sure it is killed wherever it traveled (typically to some organ). I'd do the oral consumption part for three months. I don't know if you caught any of my previous posts but for years I've orally consumed a little CS weekly (maybe four two tablespoons four times weekly) and after having my blood analyzed by a really good Live Cell Microscopy expert, found some fungus in my blood that exceeded typical limits. I'm now on three doses daily; two tablespoons each dose and will be doing that amount for a year or more. (It is a long term project to rid the body of fungus...more long term than the typical virus in my experience...with exceptions of course).

So keep it up Jeanne. I am impressed with your communications; obviously a well read and adventurous lady. You've read my posts and you know how I love to be a medical Sherlock; I'll go so far as to surmise this; based on your writings...I'd even surmise your MOTHER is cultured and beautiful. (Yes, your mother...as in your biological mother.)

How's that for logical intuition. If I'm wrong just forget I said that! Ha. Just having fun this lovely Saturday morning.

Hi Jeanne!! I just ordered a Colloidal Silver Generator & am expecting it to be here at any minute!! Thank you for your post about 'Snorting' it, because I am sure that I would have not done it aggressively as Dave puts it. Now that you have told us the need to do it like that, I will make sure to get the CS way up into my nasal cavity since I am using it to get rid of chronic sinusitis and dizzy spells that I have been having. I just wanted to say Thanks Jeanne for your update!! I am happy that you got your sore throat back to normal. :)
