is resistant (something to do with the zinc/magnesium pill I took) and unrelenting. I'm really scared of what's going to happen.
The only relief I had was when I tried taking 3 tabs sodium bicarbonate (ea 500mg), 3 times a day while taking a lower amount of [the drug]. It worked, the pain all subsided, but I was reduced to a total fatigue cripple confined to bed. If I dropped the sodium bicarbonate back to 2 tabs, 3 times a day, the candida returned. Can you advise where to go from here? How to take sufficient s/bicarb and also keep out of bed?
07/26/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: I don't know how well you can find the supplements, but tannic acid or similar green tea extract will limit the candida from going systemic, but it may cause constipation if taken too much. Molybdenum in the form of sodium molybdate and obviously zinc acetate, or zinc gluconate will also help you.
Sodium molybdate is taken a pinch a day, tannic acid is 1/4 teaspoon in a 500 cc of water, twice a day would be my best guess. Vitamin C in form of sodium ascorbate, or vitamin C ascorbic acid mixed with baking soda at pH of 7.5 to 8.0. These will help candida.
The common cause of candida is trace mineral deficiencies. such as boron, copper, zinc, vitamin C, molybdenum are the common ones I see. Baking soda will alkalize and lime and baking soda will also help. As to your weakness, the common cause is liver obstruction from congestion, such as fats in the liver from high intakes of fats and carbs, usually. If not the next common cause is leaky gut syndrome cause by say, intestinal dysbiosis. Another common problem that is in my computer scans I usually do to my clients is the blood being very viscous, from inadequate intake of water during meals, further making the blood flow restricted, which causes yeast infections.
But the easy way for candida treatment is tannic acid, sodium molybdate, and vitamin C. The most practical solutions appears to be to continue taking your sodium bicarbonate and take vitamin B complex (B50) and some amino acids 3 times a day. They are easily obtained in any country. B complex will help your energy. Try to avoid all chlorides except for sea salt, that will help suppress it. Methylene blue 0.1% 10 drops maybe three times a day will prevent candida from getting systemic and should increase in energy be possible, of course adjustment in dosages is needed to find the right number of drops.
Remember to take some sea salt (taken separately from baking soda by at least 1 hour!). Sea salt will suppress candida from going systemic!
07/27/2012: JR from China replies: Hello Ted, I've not done well with the list of things you've told me I should get. Here, medicines are dispensed from hospitals where you have to go to see a Doctor. Pharmacies stock very little. I have:
- lemons/limes - no problem
- powered sodium bicarbonate
- Vitamin C tablets - don't know what kind, nobody can tell me, looks like the stuff you get as a kid
- Vit B complex, has B1, B2, B6, but no B3
- nothing else, even though we've been to a big hospital and gone through the list with them
- no sea salt or any of the other things you've told me about.
This is an old city missing many of the items you've asked me to take, unlike in the south, nearer Hong Kong. After 6 months of this Doctor telling me to stop [the prescription drug], and then hurriedly restart it (at least 5 times) as all symptoms returned, as you can imagine, now will not work very well, if I have to take it again. It was also creating liver problems. Then he decided that the problem is anaerobic bacteria which he's given me 10 days of shots for (2 a day). The anaerobic shots have been suppressing the Candida symptoms poorly (have general urogenital pain and urinary urgency). I'm really worried about tomorrow on, after the shots finish today. 5 grams per day of S/Bicarb 2 months ago worked, but the debilitating fatigue forced me to stop taking it. I will try the Vit B and C, I've managed to get and hope it helps or I'm in real trouble."
07/27/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "If you have problems of no energy, the most common cause is usually the liver. If you CANNOT find B3, the best source is RAW liver, partially cooked is ok, the food source for B3 form, as well as other that is vital, such as selenium, CoQ10, all found. If I buy liver raw, and partially cooked I usually get the liver into boiling water for a few seconds. And take it out. The major cause of no energy is deficiencies of B complex vitamins, especially in form of B3, B12 and selenium.
Liver has more B3 than any other B vitamins, and human-nutrition-wise we need a lot of B3. But apparently there's very few sellers that have B3. I think you should be able to get liver there easier, as some developed countries export liver to China.
09/14/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Magnesium chloride 60% and ascorbic acid with baking soda will control your constipation well. The magnesium chloride drops are 10 drops 4 times a day, should be enough to control constipation. Tannic acid 1/4 teaspoon per liter of water will kill yeast overgrowth, and so will sodium molybdate 10 to 20 mg per day for a couple of days only. The hydrogen peroxide 3% one capful per liter of water as a drinking water and ascorbic acid and baking soda 1/4 teaspoon of ascorbic acid and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda will help control yeast overgrowth too. A spray used as air freshener ammonium chloride 5% to 10% in a water and breathe indirectly will prevent yeast and fungus for forming in the lungs. Borax 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon can be mixed into the hydrogen peroxide drinking water to help control fungus also. If anemia condition caused by fungus eating up iron, artemisinin around 500 mg will stop the fungus from uptake of iron, thus limiting their growth.
11/25/2011: Barbie from Gastonia, Nc replies: Sorry Anonymous nearly forgot, I also wanted to mention to be careful when starting any of the previous remedies to start off very slowly with doses. Having an overgrowth of candidia (an aggressive) bacterial overgrowth, starting a probiotic including kombucha you may experience what is referred to as die-off, which refers to the good bacteria attaching to a bad bacteria and the escaping out the hatch may keep you in the restroom longer than you'd prefer. By increasing slowly you can purge a lot of those bad bacteria without having to make non-stop trips to the lady's room. Hope this brings relief.
11/25/2011: Barbie from Gastonia, Nc replies: Hi anonymous, I have to admit I am fairly new to the holistic community however with lots of new research I have found tons of tidbits that may get you started in the right direction. I have found a lot of info on probiotics such as keifer and kombucha tea; the kombucha has been inexpensive and simple to brew from home and tastes much like strong apple juice. The good bacteria in kombucha kills off the bad bacteria in short. Also with ACV and baking soda you can help get your body back into a good PH, which makes your intestines a nice home for good bacteria and bad environment for the bad. I have also read a lot of articles from this site and others on these topics and I would also advise looking into molasses, carrots, beets, aloe, cayenne pepper. Always check with your physician first before any treatment but always trust your intuition first and foremost. I hope the best for you and your health but also please remember to pass on helpful knowledge you learn and try- that's how we heal and grow together as a community.

09/07/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The protocol is always revised, and though everyone needs to remember the most important points about them, for individual patients they might be different. So here is my basic version.
1. Avoid all sugar and artificial sugar and refined wheat products and margarine. It's ok for real butter (and also improves wrinkles in many people).
2. Sodium molybdate 1000 mcg is taken for a month. Most people with candida actually have a molybdenum deficiency. If that causes hives, apply a solution of sodium molybdate with tannic acid, or sodium molybdate with DMSO, that mixture is 30 cc DMSO with 100 mg of sodium molybdate. Cancers are usually viral but there are some cancers that are fungus, as in black mold and aspergillis niger found in some people also, which produces aflatoxin. It disturbs their sulfur metabolism.
3. Tannic acid, too much may cause constipation, but just the right amount quickly kills candida. The amount is 1/4 teaspoon per liter of water, and this should not effect constipation, but magnesium chloride will negate that effect, a magnesium chloride solution (70% magnesium chloride) 8 drops before meals twice a day.
4. Alkaline remedy. There are several formulas out there, but the easiest one is 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda after meals (30 minutes after, if possible), in a glass of water, at least twice a day. Or ACV 2 tablespoons and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, with a glass of water after meal twice a day also. I prefer (for taste) lime 2 tablespoon and at least 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in a glass of water. If you think there's too much water, then try 1/2 glass of water. But I received no complaints with 1 glass of water formula.
These are the important points for candida and I think is a simplified version. As to the heavy metals as cause of cancer, alkaline remedy do get rid of some, but you may will look at granulated lecithin 1 tablespoon a day would be adequate. There may be other remedies such as MSM, but the effect on candida is limited, as to some medications, but these have the least side effects and most effective I can find, since I have had it myself, and it was gone in 3 days but that's probably because I identified early on. As to other vitamins you might need it, if low energy, then it's CoQ10, alpha lipoic acid and acetyl L carnitine.
I can't cover all remedies for candida, but I would start with the above first.

Im Stuck.. I have left all my other doctors and I only follow your recommendations. I am not going to get into much detail but I have Mercury and candida problems. (I have huge brain fog and weird thoughts issues - burning in my brain).
But Im confused what and how to use for Candida: Peroxide and/or Borax and/or Meth Blue and/or Lugols? and for Mercury: Cilantro and/or Sodium Thiosulfate and/or Lecithin? I dont think I should do all of them at once so which ones should I start off with and which ones dont I need at all? I have read many of your posts before so I am quite acqainted with your advice and I am already doing the alkalizing, the magnesium chloride, the vitamin C, the B complex ect. So with your experience what have you found to be the most effective with mercury and candida? Should I tackle one of them before the other?

One last question..Can I use whey, glutamine and creatineÂ for building muscles during my recovery?

08/18/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: If I have brain fog, for example. I would add cilantro a couple of leafs first and take it every other day. The other plan is to take it 5 days straight with two days off. The idea is simple when chelating the circulating mercury is more and it is left to the kidneys to get rid of it. If you have constipating issues, that is your big cause since the body can't get rid of them. I will focus on sulfur amino acid, the best ones is N Acetyl Cysteine 250 mg x 4 plus the glycine at least, to help increase circulating glutathione. The more you take it, I think the optimum is around 250 x 4 or x 5 for N acetyl cysteine, and the glycine is 1000 mg is fine. This should get rid of brain fog, if not, I will look into taking vitamin C. The N acetyl cysteine and cilantro will help out the mercury issue the most. The others are supportive. Other sulfur that may be helpful is MSM (methylsulfonylmethane) and DMSO, which may help. I once mentioned that alpha lipoic acid is not good for most conditions if you have mercury issues, so I wouldn't take that for awhile once the mercury is removed with N acetyl cysteine, MSM. Sulfur, any sulfur has an affinity for metals and make good detox, the lecithin has a great property in making metals water soluble that makes it easy to rid of it. The usual dose is 1 teaspoon once a day to twice a day would be fine.
Selenium is needed to produce glutathione, its the selenium yeast I prefer, 200 mcg x 2 is the highest dose without any side effects, technically you could go up to 200 mg x 3, but i prefer 200 mcg x 2.
In case there's constipation issue, you must get rid of it. The preferred method is 12 drops of magnesium chloride solution 3 times a day. The less preferred way is magnesium hydroxide 5% found in milk of magnesia solution without aluminum, follow instruction as per package.
The candida problem is actually linked to heavy metals (mercury), sugar (including fruit sugar, aspartame, etc.), and metabolic acidosis. So I will use baking soda plus lime as the preferred supplement. It's usually one whole lime with 1/4 baking soda seems to work the best. Twice a day should be fine to alkaline. The quickest way to get rid of candida is tannic acid solutions, 1/4 teaspoon per liter of drinking water. This should not cause constipation, and slowly relieve the candida, by deactivating it.

The recommended dose in package is way too high for most people. It prefer 1 teaspoon twice a day, in morning and in lunch. The common complaints most in nearly all people who buy them and follow them is muscle pain. The one teaspoon twice a day would not cause such a problem for most people. But if they have mercury issues, especially, I likely to do 1 teaspoon twice a day as the maximum dose for now. Creatine is also the same, I keep my dose down for now, 1 teaspoon twice a day should be maximum dose first. We don't want our system to get clogged with undigested proteins plus the mercury also. Glutamine I will be very careful it causes some side effects in mercury poisons, but does improve, but I will use it only if lysine is used first and taurine, otherwise glutamine causes side effects, and is kept at 500 x 2 only after I take lysine and taurine, 1000 mg each after a week or two.
Should there be any weakness, methylene blue 0.1% 4 drops twice a day, morning and afternoon, and B50 now and then, but not everyday for B50, as it increases appetite, mostly from the B6, in addition I may take B3 500 mg, niacinamide to get rid of weird thoughts and burning thoughts. The whey protein supplements will help too.

As to candida Borax, Methylene Blue and Tannic acid are the top Three things. There is a fourth which is chromium chloride, 1000 mcg.
I read your article on Candida you wrote on Earth Clinic, and just had to see if I understand what is needed for my issue. At the age of 25 I became stressed in my life and started having anxiety attacks which in turn my body reacted by having diarrhea and nasty smelling gas.Â I can only assume I have an over abundance of candida in my body.Â I have had ear infections, yeast infections in the past which was treated with antibiotics.. I tried many preventative gas remedies to no avail, try to stay away from pop, candy most sugar except fruit.Â I have been underweight all of my life so do worry about how to gain weight. Its going on 28 yrs. with this issue I can't find anything that keeps my body from producing smelly gas.Â The medical industry has no help except antibiotics which I refuse to take anymore.Â I have been using the juice of 1 lemon 1/2 tsp baking soda with 1/2 glass of water s 2 daily for a week.Â Â It has cut down on the gas but I still am having issues.Â Did I understand you right that this will help with the over abundance of gas?Â Is there anything else I need to do.

The baking soda should be added more (a little more then 1/2 teas), and lemon and baking soda is added to 4 times a day, empty stomach, but never before meals. The weight gain in my opinion is hemp oil and salmon fish oil, 1000 mg each, and the weight should gain within a week or two, if not write back to me, you could have other issues of protein deficient, especially BCAA, and others, but I feel it is not appropriate now until the other conditions is resolved.
Part of the problem of gaseous production has to do with taking beans and peanuts, and somewhat of wheat products. Switching all wheat to rice, especially brown rice will eliminate those. Fruits, you should abstain temporarily (at least a month) are the high sugar kinds, especially pineapples, bananas, etc, See USDA nutritional database.
Since then I had a serious bouts of cold and bad flu and then in march I had a tooth infection (doctor did not specify) and was given antibiotics. Prior to this I had bad breath towards the end of last year it was mild I had attributed it to my dental problems. Around april/may it got worse then last may I moved to a hostel in birmingham and did not eat properly. I was on mostly macdonalds and was smoking more than usual. I had this very bad breath that made people turn as soon as I started speaking even from a distance. I have now stopped smoking for over 3 weeks now but the bad breath is getting worse. Four weeks ago I had bacterial vaginosis and thrush plus oral thrush and anemia. I have refused to take the antibiotics for the B.V and thrush because of the articles I read on earth clinic but decided to start using the nyastan for the oral thrush because of the horrible bad breath. I had also bought organic apple cider vinegar, grape food seed extract, black strap molasses, coconut oil, sea salt, bicarbonate soda, cod liver oil with fish oil and omega 3, multivitamins, 40 billion acidophillus capsules.
I had some sort of white blister or spots on my groin that had a bit of pus I think it was a result of the candida but I is clearing up cz I have been using A.C.V and coconut oil on it. I have tried to change my diet and been using xylitol instead of sugar, cut out bread, milk, only used extra virgin oil once to cook, and whole of last week I made vegetable smoothies in the morning, I was having packet soups as well I have not had any fruits for over three weeks now. My oral thrush still has not cleared, I am getting more depressed with the smell and not eating properly, because it is expensive to buy organic stuff getting tired easily, loss of concentration, losing things very moody and tearful. I am going to buy vitamin C today can you please tell me what else I need to do or use. I have tried to commit suicide before for unrelated matters and have being trying so hard not to get depressed again but this is just doing my head in. I am losing weight every day and for months now I only poop every 3-4 days. I am confused with all the different things I have bought and I dont know what steps to follow. Please help me out ted because I have now being housed in London and hopefully next week i will be able to register with a G.p but I know will just be placed on antibiotics or something like that. 07/25/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The reason for the bad breath, is the tooth extraction, yes, but there is another common one related, it is constipation. It is commonly caused by the body being too acidic and lack of potassium, even if blood doesn't show it because potassium is intracellular, but they check circulating blood. However you do see results if three things at least are given:
- Lysine. Helps wound repair, and therefore some of bad breath. The ideal dose per day is 1000 mg x 4 at least, and it is taken at least for a month. It happens after birth because lysine is the limiting amino acid.
- Potassium citrate, I prefer (or potassium bicarbonate) this one taken after meals, 30 minutes and 1/4 teaspoon 3 times a day. But I know how hard it is to find it, so a possible substitute (of lesser quality) is baking soda, which is taken 1/2 teaspoon in a glass of water 3 times a day, 30 minutes after meals.
- H2O2, or hydrogen peroxide, 3%. Use as a mouthwash at 1.0% to 3.0% as often as is necessary. It helps if several times, until there is no bubbling.
Part of the problem about the mouth it is extremely acidic, and it also helps to use baking soda mixed with 1% - 1.5% hydrogen peroxide, to help control bacterial issues.
The constipation is a further problem, but as I found out, it is the lack of potassium preferably in form of potassium citrate, and it will take more than a month or two to get the potassium levels to normal and resolve the constipation. Once constipation is resolved and alkalinity is restored, the bad breath stops, and the lysine will help healing, another one is glutamine and taken 1/2 of the amount of lysine should help healing.
The acidic problem is a really big issue. Eat more greens, primarily vegetarian. For body odors and breath odor it helps to take lots of chlorophyll supplements.
This is a remedy to the western diet, and it is actually the foreigners who get most affected because the body is not used to taking western foods.

I would definately go to the health store to get the things you've said but just to clarify, the tooth extractions have healed now cz the last one was done over 4mths ago. I just wanted to give you detailed info about my various health conditions in case it was related so am not sure if I still need to get the Lysine?? Secondly I still have the oral thrush and have still got the candida (do u reckon its related to the bad breath?) should I still continue to use the organic apple cider vinegar, grape food seed extract, black strap molasses, coconut oil, sea salt, bicarbonate soda, cod liver oil with fish oil and omega 3, multivitamins, 40 billion acidophillus capsules??? It does not really seem to make a difference. I was thinking of going to the hospital next week because I am really getting worried! I have also lived in England since 2002 but did spend 2005 to 07 in africa and this year had to move like 3 tiimes hence the extra stress and bad diet, so I would have thought that my body has adapted to the western diet. sorry for not clarifying properly. Do you also think it's a good idea to do a colon cleanse or similar to hasten up the process, I really can't bear to wait up till a month with this bad breath?

07/24/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The oral thrush is helped by lysine too. Fish oil and omega 3 are oil compounds, the body has difficulty processing it, and too much multivitamins, cod liver oil would not help. But coconut oil and acidophils will help your constipation. No sea salt for this condition or any salt, it will lead ultimately to chloride retention. Getting a colon cleanse would help, since we want to get rid of water retention. Apple cider vinegar must be added with baking soda to help constipation, especially adding more baking soda, but I should add potassium citrate, or potassium carbonate to it, not any chloride forms. Thrush is acid saliva so baking soda mouth wash and h2o2 1.5% helps, but 1/4 teaspoon of tannic acid in a cup of water used as a mouthwash would also help. No sugar and chlorides generally any salt and potassium chlorides. grapefruit seed extract, black strap molasses, is generally neutral on the constipation, and grape seed extract helps, but generally speaking the dosages are too low to be of use.
Do you also think it's a good idea to do a colon cleanse or similar to hasten up the process, I really can't bear to wait up till a month with this bad breath?
I would get colon cleanse as soon as possible, it will help, but not get rid of bad breath, unless you also do hydrogen peroxide 1.5% and baking soda as a mouthwash. The general condition is not enough potassium. Take fresh green apples. That will help some as it contains some potassium citrate.
08/13/2011: Anonymous replies: Hello ted, Thanks for all the help you have been offering me. The coated tongue has significantly reduced. I did buy the potassium citrate and have being taken it with the bicarbonate soda and I have also being using the apple cider vinegar. But I have another problem. I used to have this feeling of something being stuck in my throat but now I have excessive mucus/phlegm. I also have very slimy saliva that looks like strings it is not very thick but it make lines when i speak like from my tongue and teeth. It is also on my tongue and when I eat remnants of food would get stuck on my tongue, especially towards the back, and I still have some bad breath although not as bad as before. I am still doing the gargling of HP and baking soda and tongue scraping. It lessens it but increases later. Last week I started burping a lot even first thing in the morning before getting up. I started taking sauerkraut 4 days now it has improved a bit but I am confused with all this happening.
I have now finished 2 bottles of A.C.V am on the 3rd one now and the second Bicarbonate soda. How long would I have to continue these remedies because I had lost a lot of weight and do not want to continue losing more. And I still have the bacterial vaginosis and thrush even thought I am still taking the Acidophilus. Please tell me what to do and do you think I should go to the doctor for any test?
Also my bowel movements are more frequent now like once a day or at most 2 day there's even being times that I went 2x a day although I took a lot of the liquid chlorophyll that day and beleive that the potassium citrate helped a lot. Should I buy another bottle?"

If I had that, I would take 1/2 teaspoon of N Acetyl Cysteine, 6 times a day.
The body is too acidic. When taking baking soda initially it has a tendency to make you burp a lot. If you continue with more baking soda, the burping will reduce to zero. It is acidic body as you alkalized with baking soda, as the body tries to get rid of excess stored acid.
I would buy more potassium citrate as it helped constipation, and candida. It really helps if you add some borax 1/16 to 1/8 teaspoon in one liter of drinking water and brushing the backside of the mouth, in the teeth area.
03/27/2013: Laura from Los Angeles, Ca replies: I am a professional vocalist who lost the ability to sing completely because of throat candida, I tried everything Ted suggested with a some success. I have tons of mucus and stringly, white lumps.
Recently I started alkalizing with lemons, didnt have any Baking Soda at the time and just juiced 10 large lemons and drank the juice with a straw. The difference to my voice was amazing, I am not fixed by any means (have systemic candida) but definite improvements to the throat candida just drinking lemon juice. Dear Ted, I am fighting a systemic yeast infection which has just about taken over my life with pain and sickness. I have been diagnosed with Chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalga, menneires disease, Tmj, and Systemic Candida. My question is after trying many different remiedies I thought I had found one that seemed to be working. Then, I read that it is not something you agree with. I have been taking maple syrup and baking soda... 3:1 ratio. I read in the cancer section that it could in fact make cancer worse. Is this true for candida too? I have been taking it for about two weeks and I am now very concerned. Even though I do not have cancer, could it make the Candida worse or even worse change the fungus into cancer? Since, cancer can be a fungus? Thank you

Candida feeds on sugar, regardless of with or without baking soda. The baking soda gets neutralized far to quickly to do any dent to the candida for the cancer, but the sugar has loads of calories that the fungus or cancer can feed onto. It makes the problem worse. The best form of alkalizing is to take both the baking soda and the potassium bicarbonate, or a stronger form sodium carbonate and potassium carbonate. Fungus doesn't get killed easily and the ones that Alternative medicine community are familiar with is Dr. Simoncini's work, which uses Baking soda.
Unfortunately baking soda's buffering ability is very limited and cannot reach certain areas such as extremities and internal organs, bones, etc. It's alkaline effects do not last long either, such as 1-3 hours on the average for a person who is acidic.
There is a simpler way to treat candida, which is basically avoiding all sugar, fruit juices, calcium supplements (fungus feeds on them!), and oily foods (blocks body's immune system).
There are a couple of things I used to get rid of the fungus, when those foods are avoided, first is alkalizing, taking baking soda 1/2 teaspoon to 1 teaspoon after every meal, and once before bed time in 1/2 to 1 glass of water, which is relatively low dose and a mild remedy, the other is all drinking water a person will drink shall have hydrogen peroxide 3% 1/2 to 1 capfuls per liter of drinking water, added together with 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in each of the drinking water. The hydrogen peroxide kills the fungus by oxidation.
The other thing I used is to add borax, to the same drinking water, which is 1/8 to 1/4 teaspoon per liter of drinking water. Borax flushes out candida and fungus in general.
Finally, if desperation is there, then avoid dinner, this will get digestive juices recirculated into the body systems and digest the fungus that way. Candida feeds on sugar, and hence it's important the blood sugar is always below 100, above that they will take advantage of the extra food. Finally when eating food, our foods, ESPECIALLY our drinks, are sugar laden and so it's important to avoid sweet fruits and sweet fruit juices, and drink plenty of water during meals, in which case it will reduce the sugar concentration that goes to the blood. And if a person does have sugar problems, then it's important to reduce the blood sugar to below 100. Three things I always used for sure (besides alkalization), is 1) chromium supplements 5 mg in form of chromium chloride 2) lecithin granulated 1 teaspoon with every meal 3) vitamin B3 niacinamide before sleep, usually 250-500 mg.
Â In any case, maple syrup is useless in treatment of cancer and candida, it feeds on sugar and the alkalinity of the baking soda is too weak to kill it. I have seen too many people getting worse off after taking this, especially diabetics.
02/22/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Sorry for the delay, your mail was in my spam folder. Anyway the cravings go away with 2000 mg - 3000 mg of taurine twice or three times a day. DHEA 12.5-25 mg also reduces the food cravings. Certain foods seems to be more satiated thus reducing them, such as tuna, and fish. Other things including smelling peppermint oil, oranges, grapefruits, to curb the appetite.
02/27/2009: Amber from Portland, Oregon replies: Cindy: This might sound extreme, but since you are dealing with Candida, you can possibly get two things done at once: A) Ceasing to eat all sugars during Candida problems is beneficial to most, including fruits, honey, maple syrup, carrots and beets etc. B) Sugar cravings cease when you are not ingesting any sugar, except that from fruits (when the Candida is cured).
I personally know this is true for two reasons: I recently kicked a Candida outbreak, and I am also a raw foodist and typically only eat sugars which are in fruits, and use Stevia (the green herb powder not the extract).
Once I started this I realized that I was off of the Sugar 'merry go round'. I am not sure these are measures you would want to take, but it might help someone out there, at least it's interesting to consider. Besides, the main point one can take from this should be, EAT LESS SUGAR=CRAVE LESS SUGAR. Even now, on some days if I eat something sugary or add honey to my food, I am more prone to wanting more. It is helpful to realize that foods can be addictive, just like caffeine, etc. It is just in a more subtle fashion.
Once you are off of the merry go round, it is not as if you cannot ever have sugar to maintain this. As long as you are reasonable with your consumption, even if you have one of those nights or few days where you are really 'into' sugary foods, you just won't be addicted to it in that same way. I can now have honey in my home, and I am not crazy over it, and let me tell you, I would be if I was still hooked on sugar like I used to be. I also have a few days every so often where I will decide I want to treat myself, and I do...and still go back to my usual habits without any difficulty. I never fathomed that you could not crave sugar, so just wanted to send a message from the other side of the fence, and I hope this can help just a bit.

I just came across your good advice at earthclinic.com. I live in Koh Samui and would love to buy some food grade hydrogen peroxide in Thailand. I have a stubborn case of candida / fungal overgrowth and would appreciate any more advice on its treatment. I have a very good diet - the paleo diet - with no grains, fruit, sweet root veg or legumes, all of which seem to feed the condition. I've been taking Living Streams' Liquid probiotic for a month which is really helping. Thanks.
11/01/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Yes a primary food source of candida is the sugar. However, a candida also exist in acid environment and high blood sugar even if sugar was avoided. If a person has a persistent acid blood, the acidity kills off the pancreas, which is responsible for alkalizing the body. It's rich in bicarbonates, so a shortage of bicarbonates burns off pancreas, resulting low insulin, resulting in high blood sugar which further feeds the candida. Therefore keeping the body alkaline important.
Therefore a candida fungus is acidic blood is very much due to Paleo diets, where meats are also acid forming too. However, this can be reduced with baking soda and potassium bicarbonate to neutralize the acidity.
All diets have their weakness. Meats are acid, vegetarians are alkaline, but lacking in carnosine and B12, which causes accelerated aging, but not cancer. Stillman Diets causes anorexia and bulemia, since high protein diets are lacking in vitamin B complex, which leads death of the singer Karen Carpenter.
By their very nature of modern industrialized farming practices, omega 3 is lacking in meat diets, because they use hormones to quickly grow the livestock, saving costs, which traditional ways of raising has been abandoned causes farm animals to be deficient in omega 3.
The changes from grass fed to wheat fed, reduces vitamin B17. So the issue is not what diet, it's trying to avoid all this modern industrialized farming practices and modern food processing that makes me worry.
For example dioxins and lead is actually quite high in diets, cooked foods especially meats the AGE (advanced glycated end products) are off the charts, causing autoimmunity, that may be preconditions to candida too.
It works out this way: when meats are cooked in high temperature (assuming fried, grilled or poached) you get a nice brown meats, which is often called a Maillard Reaction so get RAGE (Reactive Advanced Glycated End Products) and becomes a reactive protein which causes the body to react to the foods we eat, leading to autoimmunity and in milder causes, suppressed immune function since the white blood cells is too busy attacking, Vegetarian diets are a strange issue, you can become high in blood sugar from eating all the fruits. However, avoiding mostly fruits, but eating greens is one possible way, but the diets are low in protein, carnosine, taurine and B-12.
RAGE found in cooked meats causes suppression of immunity, leading to opportunistic infections, such as candida. The one drawback of Paleo diets is a deficiency in potassium, which is a primary mineral necessary to kill the candida Hence, potassium supplements is needed. As well as magnesium and baking soda to neutralize the acidity.
It works out this way: sodium is an extracellular fluids, which manages the pH, quite often in the form of sodium bicarbonates. Intracellular fluids are is pH managed mostly by potassium and magnesium, but mostly potassium. Both sodium and potassium are considered in the periodic table as an alkali metal, while magnesium is considered alkaline earth element. The major weakness of candida is the alkalinity, which are killed. Potassium levels if it is low, the mouth, oral cavities and esophagus may have acid pH, usually below 7, but ideally pH of saliva should be around 7.3.
A simple scenario of diabetes can also fuel candida, in ways people never knew it, but it does. As an example, my mother never had diabetic and became a diabetic by eating "Steak and Eggs" everyday for about two years while in the U.S. before becoming a diabetic while avoiding sweets and fruits. Little did she know that RAGE (reactive advanced glycation end products are formed) as well as acidity from the meats simply killed off her pancreas (lowered insulin) and reduced her immunity.
Even if a person were to avoid meats, taking aspartame lead to high blood sugar and weight gain as formaldehyde and methanol blood levels is high as aspartame is broken down killing off the beta cells of the pancreas as well as the neuroendocrine systems. I had painters and mechanics who inspite of very careful diets, were exposed to methanol alcohol, which leads to a similar condition since they kill off the neuroendocrine system.
In any case 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/4 teaspoon of potassium citrate (or potaasium bicarbonate) in 1 glass of water, is taken about twice a day will usually neutralize most of the acidity. Overcooked meats is best avoided, especially fried, poached, broiled, and grilled. Boiling and soups are generally safer as the meats don't undergo a Maillard reaction.
Vitamin B complex and sodium ascorbate vitamin C may be needed to protect the neuroendocrine systems. It should be noted that a fungus such as candida, its required growth has to be in an oxidative medium, not an antioxidant medium. For instance if the medium is high in electrons where a hydrogen is negative, this occurs in the presence of sodium ascorbate medium, which is vitamin C in an alkaline form and a candida cannot grow. A fungus required respiration cannot grow in this and uptakes this but still can't utilize them as an energy source, so it just dies of.
Other minerals which has antifungal properties include chromium 1000 mcg, borax 1/8 teaspoon per liter of drinking water, maybe two or three times a week, magnesium supplements 500 mg, ,selenium 200-400 mcg, are the preferred ones. Having sufficient alkalinity is the most important one. Green vegetables are also alkaline too, but not for fruits and artificial sweeteners, legumes, and grains. Some kelp may also help because of its iodine raises the body's immune system. It should be noted if the thickness of blood is high, or that if the stickiness of platelets are high, then the body's immunity is lowered and a change in necessary diets to reduce this is necessary to reduce the candida issue also.
Depending on their location a stronger form of anti-fungal remedy is the carbicarb with potassium remedy. The remedy that is used is 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate, 1/4 teaspoon of potassium citrate (or another similar one such as potassium bicarbonate) in a glass of water twice a day. The urinary pH should be close to 7, and salivary pH close to 7.3 to have an antifungal properties.
p.s. a Hydrogen peroxide is easily obtained in Bangkok along the Rajadamri roads,where they sell hydrogen peroxide that doesn't contain additives. Several chemical companies are located on that road such as Vittayasom and a host of others. Unfortunately these companies do not send or deliver these products to Koh Samui.

09/30/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The issue I encountered is really simple, most fungus simply grows in an acidic environment where much of the problem is eating acid forming foods such as sugar, meats, bread, and sodas. These provide food for the fungus. Most candida proliferate if we eat acid forming food. More alkaline formin foods discourage their growth such as vegetables for example. High mineral waters with large amounts of bicarbonates are alkaline buffers which tend to discourage their growth. There is more than enough literature even in agriculture in the use of alkaline buffers, such as baking soda for example to discourage fungus growth. Most fungus simply don't grow if the alkalinity is higher as one of the basic issues. There may be other theories as to why fungus dies also, indirectly from alkalinity. For example, free ammonium dissociates itself whenever alkalinity is above 7 and the more free ammonium there are the fungus simply dies. In fact I have used on occassion a solution of ammonium chloride mixed with sodium cabonate for example, or baking soda to help with eczema, which for me is a fungus problem. In fact if a skin fungus exist, even a simple solution of ammonium chloride applied would almost instantly relief any itching or skin problems caused by a fungus, ammonium dissociates whenever it is in a water solution thus killing them, but they apparently dissociates more in an alkaline solution. In fact it is this very principle I used to remove molds, fungus, both from the skin, armpits and even to remove them in old beds, carpates, and ceiling to kill these fungus. The fungus problem is much more widespread then it has before because of the widespread dietary of acid forming foods which support such issue. A great remedies of hair loss for example is due to fungus issues and this is why a mild borax, ammonium chloride, dilute sodium carbonate is one of my many arsenals in relieving them. In fact if the esophagus is subjected to long term acidity, candida growth becomes uncontrollable and I have noticed that a common simplest possible remedy is to avoid acid forming food, or the use of alkaline remedies such as baking soda, carbicarb with potassium bicarbonate, for example. However, the issue if resolving candida using alkaline is part of the overall solution. Other anti-fungals mineral supplements which has this specific properties include chromium, selenium, and sometimes iodine (from kelp), may futher help the problems. One simple way of determine whether the body has sufficient alkalinity to discourage candida growth is both the checking of salivary pH and urinary pH, where if the pH is below 7, which is acid or less than neutral, candida isn't easily killed. An salivary pH below 7 is fairly common for a candida growth much of it is based on high dietary sugar of both high fats and high sugar.
During this time, I developed severe UTI problems -- I hit them hard with things like Candex, probiotics and monistat, H2O2 gargling, swallowing, etc because I was determined to see the pH balancing through to the end. Four weeks ago I dropped the baking soda all together and am drinking 1TBS ACv per day with water and apple juice which gives me just a slightly acidic urine pH (around 6.8).
Â Today, partially due to a complication with being allergic to the new HFA asthma inhalers, I now have the fungus pretty much invading my entire GI tract at this point, and it is in my lungs. I am really ill, needing tons of Sporanox to begin to get better. Most of all, I am very confused. It seems candida and relatives are absolutely LOVING my higher pH and taking big advantage of it.

06/16/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: If you know about fungus growing on cement walls, those are calcium carbonates which are alkaline in nature. It appears that the blood calcium is very high in the case where the body responds favorably to apple cider vinegar to remove calcium buildup in the body and thus reducing the candida that way. Candida usually grows well in calcium rich blood where blood calcium is high. In most cases people respond to baking soda alone high because of acidity in the blood.
Apple cider vinegar often causes urinary pH to be acid in most people with normal blood calcium and below normal bicarbonates, which is often the physiological parameter of most people. However, in some people, which can exist where blood calcium is high, bicarbonates is high, causing the effect of ACV to be slightly acid at 6.8. The interesting thing is to consider ACV is good is a relativistic term. Continued taking long term of ACV can backfire, by lowering bicarbonates level and calcium levels, resulting again in an acid urine below 6.
The optimum pH can be anywhere from 6.5 to 7.0, but usually it is 7.0, because people's demand for alkalinity tend to be in that region needed fight the sickness. However, another criteria I used is some people will feel well at certain urinary pH, but the single most important issue is probably not the ACV or the baking soda.
The most IMPORTANT issue was the salivary pH was not considered. This is because the alkalinity of the body is determined by two factors, the pH of the urine and the pH of the saliva. The urinary pH is governed by the sodium bicarbonate and the salivary pH is governed by the potassium bicarbonate or potassium citrate. The single most important issue where ACV has responded well is that the potassium level is low to begin with and the salivary pH was acid, that was below 7 and hence, candida.
Now a candida can exist in various parts of the body depending on the sodium and potassium balance. A lack of potassium bicarbonate (or a better potassium citrate) causing acid saliva will promote candida growth along the mouth, throat and esophagus region. A candida growth in other areas such as gut, urinary tract, are usually governed by the sodium bicarbonate.
Therefore in event the baking soda and ACV was non responsive, but ACV had better result, it means the person was taking a low sea salt diet and drinking too much water which resulted in UTI. Therefore 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt should be added per one liter of drinking water. While another remedy of alkalizing is used, in which case, a candida in the mouth and esophagus region, where salivary pH is acid, is as follows:
1/4 teaspoon of potassium citrate plus 1/4 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate in 1/2 glass of water twice a day.
or a stronger remedy:
1/2 teaspoon potassium citrate plus 1/8 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate in 1/2 glass of water twice a day. Plus 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in 1 liter of drinking water throughout the day.
It's difficult to cover all the nuances of a candida issue, however, one important guideline is always measure the urinary and salivary pH, if possible. But in most instance, while it is true that baking soda will usually work, certain dietary issues comes to play, such as high fruit consumption, which contains fructose and worsen the candida issues, drinking water and low sodium diet, potassium deficiency from doctor's med, which can also play into the equation.
06/24/2008: Kristin from Los Angeles, CA replies: Response to Ted's response. If I understand you correctly, I probably have a high blood calcium level. This is probably true. I am a runner/hiker and take a lot of calcium lactate along with magnesium to assist with muscle "twitchies" (works great). So what I need to do is allow my system to get back to its so-called normal state, then check both salivary and urinary pH. How to alkalize will depend upon these two values. Thank you Ted!!! Much appreciated!!!
I've been taking the evening primrose oil for years now, as a preventative for PMS, and really notice a difference (esp. mood swings) when I forget to take it.Â But I could probably get away with just taking it about 2 weeks per month on, then 2 weeks off.Â I will try that.
The flax meal is ground fresh in my coffee grinder; I buy the flax seed (organic golden) in bulk, and, according to the supplier, it has a shelf life (in its unground state) of several years without getting rancid).Â I've been using it for the beneficial oils and also extra fiber, but it sounds like you don't think I should bother with it?Â I also use it for my daughter, to clear up occasional eczema (I just mix it into her cooked oatmeal).

06/04/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Fish oil with DHA & EPA is one of the secrets of preventing sticky blood, a relatively common condition in most people in U.S. and when the blood becomes sticky the body's immunity is lowered as oxygen carried by the blood is impaired. On the other hand, alkalization also reduces sticky blood too, but what is so unique about this is it corrects the common health structural problem in western diets that has been off course for the past 30-40 years at least with the introduction of industrialized farming method which causes the rise in omega 6: omega 3 ratios amongst chickens for example, where omega 6: omega 3 ratios should ideally be 1: 1 (or at least 4:1) instead of 1: 20 we see today. The depression, brain fog, and many other problems of immunity is linked to immunity and proper brain function since omega 3 is found mostly in the brain and its neural system. Hence fish oils of DHA & EPA, an omega 3 type 2 is playing far more fundamentals in human health then many people realized. Unfortunately people confuse Omega 3 with other forms such as flaxseed oil but doesn't have DHA & EPA. Primrose oil is important since GLA is also used by the body too, that seemed to be ignored by mainstream medicine, and in woman, it helps them with PMS. The trick about primrose, is the body doesn't seem to require a lot, and can save money on supplements as mentioned. Whichever oils we take, it DOESN'T replace bad fats if I continue to eat bad fats regardless of the good fats being supplements. These bad fats come from vegetable oils which has low boiling temperatures and should not be used in cooking. Health basically went down the hill during the later 1960s with the introduction of vegetable oils too. The superiority of lard oil, coconut oil or even tallow oil comes its ability to withstand high cooking temperature with little oxidation, becoming a "bad fats" or oxidized oil, or rancid oil. It is these rancid oil that accumulates.
It should be noted that you are not the only ones with "mood swings" with lack of fish oils, primrose oil for instance because children are now taking ritalin and prozac as a way to help mood swings, children now become murderers to parents such as Kip Kinkel, and even mass murderers where these psychoactive drugs made it worse and where imbalances in these key omega 3 and GLA in primrose oils are helpful in psychological problems from lack of omega 3 imbalances, where it is found in larger amounts of the brain.
Flaxseed are general ok in supplying ALA, but it is not as critical as fish oil and primrose oil because GLA is generally difficult to find in our foods. Therefore some flaxseed can be taken to help general conditions on the alpha linolenic acid. The major problems about flaxseed oil is the oil that is sold commercially where these go rancid generally quickly. It is therefore wise that a seed form is kept stored before use avoiding the problem of going rancid. So in my opinion what you are doing is generally correct. Still, flaxseed can be taken once a week or something similar to large spacing of dose, with exception to eczema for treatment which is seen as helpful. Fish oil and alkalization also have the same effects and should all be considered. I personally suspect fish oil to work better against eczema but it is the alkalization using sodium carbonates that makes quantum leap on the results.
If I wanted to make sodium ascorbate vitamin C, from ascorbic acid, the ratio of ascorbic acid to baking soda I used is 1: 2 when mixed in water.
The best source of iodine is kelp, and sea salt should be replaced at least by me with a common table salt because they lack the minerals and table salt is a common cause of many health maladies, at the very least, it doesn't have minerals and it has additives of aluminum in nature, such as aluminum silicate, and it's pH is acid 5.0 Fish and fish oils is not substitute for iodine and some kelp is needed, perhaps once a week. If thyroid problem is indicated than more is needed, but spacing of dose is critical. Too close of a spacing, or no spacing when taking kelp can cause acne, because iodine causes displacement of hard fats (sometimes good) from the blood vessels and the thyroid but gets clogs on skin pores. Perhaps taking more granulated lecithin will prevent this problem and I am looking further into this idea. People with thyroid problems sometimes take a large dose of kelp reported large increase in energy levels.
ORMUS are what the ancients Egyptian called the Elixir of Life, but goes by many names such as ORME, monoatomic gold, white gold, m-state, and manna for example. Basically, it is a superconductive material found sea water and in my opinion are reactivated in an alkaline medium near the pH of 10, which they try to get the precipitate during as an elixir of life. The full name is ORME Orbitally Rearranged Monoatomic Elements or ORMEs but many hobbyist who make this just called it ORMUS, first discovered by David Hudson in his farm lands after noticing that monoatomic elements exist in nature, and found in sea water. Basically these superconductive material is what is needed for the cellular communications necessary to promote healing and only a small quantity is actually needed. In fact brains of pigs, cows and humans contain a large amount of superconductive elements of iridium, rhodium and other so called superconductive metals. Personally I noticed these to exist in just plain simple sea water and it is best activated by some mixture of sea salt plus additional alkalinity of something as simple as baking soda and sodium carbonate. The reason why I am now trying to push this new alkalizing methods is I found them to work very well after long series of test and trying to understand the complicated recipes of ORMUS and my own attempt into simplifying it. The key to making this is to try to store and make ormus in a plastic container or non-metallic container is most ideal.
The original recipes used for ORMUS are complicated for most people and required the removal of salted water and use the precipitate followed with washing off with distilled water to get it. Because of the complexity and somewhat difficult to handle in the use of lye, the use of pH meter, I have simplified the process into a simple carbicarb mixture with the sea salt to be used as a drinking water instead. My first version, although imperfect has gotten very favorable feedback especially chronic fatigue and general debilitating conditions.
Therefore, ORMUS is a newer form of alkalization where 1/4 of baking soda, sodium carbonate and sea salt is mixed in a liter of drinking water, stored in a plastic or glass container. For use. In case if it is too salty or not tasty this can be further diluted with water and use this to help general healing by promoting cellular communications through super conductive elements found in most sea water. One used a local brand in Europe, I used a local Thai bran in Thailand. So I don't really give much preferences as long as it is real sea salt, having a light gray to gray appearance and moist surface. It is one element for healing that I think needs to be pursued after a long tests and simplication of recipe for general use.
Wow! What a thorough, prompt and helpful response! Based on my urinary pH of 6.5 (taken this morning) and your response, here's what I'm going to try:
1. 1/4 tsp baking soda + 1/4 tsp of sodium carbonate (washing soda) in at least 1/2 glass of water three times a day, to raise pH & maintain pH level of at least 7.5

6. chelation therapy of granulated lecithin 1 Tablespoon daily, plus 1 small handful cilantro every other day (cutting down on cilantro and spacing further if side effects occur)
7. use up the probiotic I bought (but not replace it! saving about $50/month!)
After I am candida-symptom-free for at least a month, I hope to try a liver cleanse (the prep for this includes a 3-day apple juice fast, so I want to make sure the candida is not going to come back with a vengence from all that sugar!).
I also will have the amalgam fillings removed, and look into alternatives for my root canal.
It will take me a few days to start on the washing soda, as I have been unable to locate it locally & will order itÂ online.

06/03/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: During alkalization phase vitamin C sodium ascorbate can be taken at the same time. It causes the ORP of the blood to reach an ideal negative level.
I am quite happy just achieving pH of 7.0 with current remedy. Raising further may be difficult using baking soda, but it is quite possible to go to 7.4 or 7.5 if the baking soda was switched to sodium citrate, which is a somewhat more elusive chemical that is harder to find in supemarket or drug stores.
A sodium citrate (technically called trisodium citrate) is a cousin of citric acid where it is reacted with a sodium carbonate for example, to reach a pH roughly 8-9.
The vitamin C I preferred is an alkaline form of sodium ascorbate only, but it can be reacted with ascorbic acid vitamin C and baking soda to get sodium ascorbate too.
I have mixed feelings about using evening primrose oil everyday, but every other days is safer due to body's limited use of oils. In practice forÂ most people, I prefer to see it's taken once or twice a week ideally.
Fish oils contain Omega 3 type 2, which is DHA and EPA and these are better form and less problematic than flaxseed. Flaxseed gets rancid too quickly for general use and it's a less effective form in certain research findings. Fish oils seems to be less problematic and reduces inflammation and other skin problems as well as immunity problem. Cod liver oil is o.k. as it also has vitamin D which raises the immune system.
I had fungus like condition of the skin some months ago, and it completely went away with just 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate and 1/4 teaspoon of sodium bicarbonate in 1/2 glass of water three times a day. It went away within a day, but continued taking was needed still, plus maintenance.
My house has probiotic, but I find I don't need to use as the alkalization normalizes the intestinal flora anyway. It is left sitting in my shelf for the last 5 years. But don'tÂ worry about my probiotics, I got it free from an MLM company and I don't really need it. If I do realize I need it, I used them as a "seed" only after I alkalize properly after a week or two and take it just once! The reason why other people take probiotics everyday is the harmful bacteria plus acid gut just killed the good probiotics completely decimated. So changing the pH of the intestines are important to such an extent that I don't use probiotics at all and research has shown it's not needed if the intestines are properly alkalized anyway. It's self correcting given proper environments.
A simple ORMUS drinking water I used seemed to be very helpful for a variety of condition from the trace superconductive materials found in the sea salt without the elaborate recipes of using other traditionally accepted method of lye, decanting, measuring pH, which makes it all too confusing for most people. Since I have tested this remedy as mentioned, it''s working greatÂ anyway. Hence the remedy can be simplified according to the remedy I mentioned. It increases general immunity of the body. It's not perfect (don't taste good) and I will probably give a look further on that one, but it is working so good that I just got to mention this as it was helpful in general weakness and debilitating conditions too, especially the immune disorders and autoimmunity issues.
Coconut oil can be virgin, or just plain coconut oil. And it helps constipation since coconut oil are poorly absorbed, which is good since the body has very limited capacity to uptake oils and fats anyway and if they get into the system, it becomes accumulative, much like vegetable oils, which I really have problems with. Coconut oil acts as a lubricant toward intestinal system and reduces constipation, therefore it is to be taken before meals so it can lubricate it as the foods get digested along the intestinal tract. It can also be used in cooking and if so, one does notÂ need to take coconut oil.
As to the apple juice diet, dilute them in water so that the sugar in the apple juice doesn't exceed 5% but ideally 1.5-2%. Why 2%? This is because an average urinary sugar averages 2%, so taking any drinks at 2% sugar concentration, isn't going to raise the level of body's sugar which might fuel candida growth. Candida needs sugar, from sucrose, glucose, or even fruit sugar, such as fructose. Exercising at least 15 minutes, just by plain walking would burn out most of the sugar taken anyway. This is why a walk of 30 minutes after eating will prevent rises in sugar spikes which may fuel candida growth. Because sugar spikes occur during eating of food, we can buffer this by drinking plenty of water during eating of food. Drinking during eating of food has two advantages. It fills up the stomach fast, prevents sugar spikes, and it does not dilute stomach acid. The reason being is that the stomach will squeeze out the liquids before it beginsÂ to digest food anyway. Â someone studied high school biology like I did, then you will know that if you drink water, the stomach won't try to digest the water, but it goes right through the stomach almost immediately anyway.
During amalgam removal, the body's mercury levels may go up. So alkalizing lecithin and magnesium before the removal will be a preventive and reduce additional problems too along with a small amount of cilantro with some spacing of dose, such as taking on alternate days, for example.
My main symptoms during the nursing of my babies has been extreme, deep, stabbing & burning pain in my milk ducts, as well as lots of itching all over, brain fog, loss of memory, CFS, digestive issues (constipation/bloating/lactose intolerance) & incontinence. Strangely enough, I rarely get a vaginal yeast infection, and my babies never got thrush, only blistery diaper rashes.Â Hence I went undiagnosed for about 6 months when this problem first showed up; since then, I have never been "symptom free" forÂ more than 3 months. It is because of the immediate "feedback" I've gotten (i.e. intense breast pain within 12 hours of eatenÂ something sugary, etc.) while nursing, that I have found chelation therapy, while recommended widely on the internet, makes my candida flare up.Â I first noticed this while taking spirulina supplements; within a day or two, my symptoms got much worse.Â The spirulina has caused definite increase in symptoms, of which I am certain because I have (at least 4 times) unwittingly taken it (included in protein shakes or other supplements), and every time there was an extreme increase in symptoms, so I would re-examine any changes to my routine & each time the common denominator was that spirulina had been accidently slipped in.Â
The same thing happened when I tried a cilantro pesto recipe I found in a book of "health remedies" (delicious!) ... after 2Â or 3 days of taking it, I started noticing increased pain.Â Ditto when I tookÂ a "high quality alfalfa" supplement that was supposed to nourish my skin, except that with the alfalfa, I had alreadyÂ weaned, so the symptoms to flare up were instead athlete's foot fungus, constipation, CFS & incontinence.Â After my nearly non-existent symptoms flared back up after taking the alfalfa for a week, I researched it on the internet and found it was listed as being good for chelating metals from our bodies. I remember reading somewhere (but haven't been able to retrace the source) the theory that, in some people, chelating minerals out can work synergestically (sp?) to spur on candida overgrowth ... something like, the candida says, "Hey, look at all that metal leaving! Guess there's plenty of room left for us now!" (my totally lay-person recollection of the gist of the explanation).Â This appears to be the case with me. My question is this: should I still attempt to chelate? What about replacing my amalgam fillings? (I have about 5, IÂ think) I am also considering replacing my root canal tooth (work done over 20 years ago).Â It seems to me that myÂ digestive problems all started about the time that I got the root canal, especially chronic constipation.Â Does any of this make sense to you, or am I just totally off in my assessment? I have just today started trying your salt water & baking soda w/ACV therapies, and I am taking Threelac (a very expensive probiotic, but it does seem to make a difference in me). This is the first time in 8 years I am not pregnant or nursing, so I am also considering doing some cleanses (liver cleanse, candida cleanse), but am unsure where to start. I appreciate any thoughts you might have about all this.
06/03/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Having high heavy metals, such as mercury, lead, cadmium obviously is going to kill people in the long run and a very high level may protect infections, but its going to kill us anyway as they are neurodegenerative.
Most of the problems not known in the internet is that the higher the levels of heavy metals, the lower the dose is chelation needed to minimized the circulating heavy metals. The second issue is the spacing of dose. The third problem is what kinds of chelation method is used. The fourth is the PRIMARY method of reduction of candida is alkalization first, chelation is often a supporting therapy if the body has proper levels of antioxidants, such as vitamin C sodium ascorbate and baking soda first.
As to why chelation works against some people is really simple. Assuming long term exposure to the heavy metals, such as amalgam, the heavy metals are going lodge into tissues and not circulating, the heavy metals are moreÂ destabilizing to the body if they were circulating the the bloodstream.
Since most of the oxygen and blood goes to the brain, the circulating high metals will goes there too, causing immuneÂ suppression (brain is the executive function of the immunity), leading to metabolic acidosis, which leads a common condition of the fungus, candida, or other similar conditions. Metabolic acidosis is an observed phenomenon myself that if a toxic chemical or heavy metals were taking, the body becomes acid, as noted in urine pH analysis. Apparently the brain is involved in intrinsically controlling the pH in its alkaline state. A proof of this is easy: taking aspartame (found in diet coke or sugar free gums, or children's vitamins), methanol, formaldehyde then these are well known in destroying neural cells, will immediately cause the fluids to become immediately acid, and this is why brain tumors are formed from long term exposure to excessive acidity from neural dysfunction.Â Brain tumors is a condition of long term acidosis bought about by chemical or
Â metal induced neural death that leads to a worsening cyclic neural suicide.
Therefore, the neurodegenerate effectsÂ of these metals is noted, obviously more vitamin B complex is needed to help neuroprotection, but also vitamin C sodium ascorbate and vitamin E. B helps neural growth, vitamin E and vitamin C are obviously antioxidants. It should be noted that chemical toxins induces this state too such as aspartame, and other chemicals found in many consumer products. A chemical toxin may also promote candida by promoting metabolic acidosis, in which a common method of detoxification is ozone or hydrogen peroxide therapies necessary to neutralize these accumulating chemical toxins found in the liver.
Since antioxidants are neural protective, the prerequisites for the antioxidants to work properly is proper alkalization. For example, vitamin C can exist in two states, in acid orÂ alkaline states, such as ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate. The acidic state is causes oxidative state so it works against the body. The alkaline state works with the body as it is in an anti-oxidationÂ state. Obviously acid lacks an electron and steals electrons from healthy cells, while antioxidation provides electrons to the healthy cells.
So when the body is acid, plus high circulating heavy metals from the chelation process the circulating blood is in high oxidation states, which leads to immune problems for the body, and promotes fungus growth. This has always been the problem when taking too much chelating therapy.
Let me give you a simpler example to see how this occurs in actual practice of chelation. Most autistics children, have learning disability can come from excessive heavy metals (usually from mercury and aluminum, but if lead is already higher before vaccinations,then the vaccines becomes lethal leading to Sudden Infant Death) found inÂ vaccinations (imagine how many vaccinations a child goes through the public school system).
Amazingly enough, mercury and aluminum levels are quite high in vaccinations such that after injection,Â theseÂ levels still actually exceeds many times the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) finds it to be safe for the environment. Obviously it means the children's blood is more toxic than a normal environment, such as an ordinary lake!
Therefore, parents who treat their autistics found that giving too much (which occur more than I care to remember!), of cilantro and they go haywire with just the first dose. But on average, if a low dose is given, on the 8th day, the child goes haywire in the brain, along with candida and other skin problems that occurred during that time. So these "so called experts" who treat autistics did was to give the child chelation therapy for a week, followed by two weeks of nothing and seems to work from "trial and error", beingÂ absolutely unaware of why this occurs. However my own method of spacing of dose is different. If cilantro was used, both dose and spacing are used. In more sensitive children, which seems to occur inÂ children with learning disorders, hyperactivity and autistics the average dose is only between 5-10 leaves of cilantro (more sensitive ones actually took 1-2 leaves a day -noticed spacing is reduced to zero with lower dose), and for average dose this can be
Â one every two days to twice a week,Â during the starting dose. But interestingly, at least for me they are given along with magnesium, vitamin C sodium ascorbate, and baking soda. The magnesium citrate for example the dose is 250 mg, vitamin C 500 mg. and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda x 2 were used in most instances without the side effects or any reaction. It should be noted that the method of dosage and spacing were determined where such side effects won't occur at all.
As to why magnesium has to be used, at theÂ very least, is magnesium provided a buffer against the negative effects of circulating heavy metals. A circulating heavy metals INCREASES during chelation therapy since the lodged heavy metals toÂ tissue is removed, and hence the observed toxicity. However, the RATE at which the heavy metals are removed from the body, is very much dependent on what I called the "gate keeper", which in most instance is the kidneys and sometimes the intestines. The major removal of metals goes through the kidney, to some instances the intestines, and then to some extent the sweat glands.
Intestines' ability to heavy metal removal depends greatly on osmotic balance between the body and the gut, are often due to two factors, usually it's the chloride levels and the alkalinity levels, which are OFTEN is the body's bicarbonates levels. As an example, if the chlorides level are high (such as drinking chlorinate water), and bicarbonate levels are low, which is often the case in westernÂ diet, the osmotic balance causes a dry gut, where fluids uptake by the body over the gut is high, as the body attempts to balance the pH towards more alkalinity by absorbing more alkaline metalsÂ such as sodium, but also of water too.
The sodium uptake by the body is high because it needs to maintain a sodium: chloride level ratio, such that the sodium to chloride level is around 1.2: 1 or 1.3 : 1 ratio is maintained. What is so interesting is table salt is very destabilizing because of the anti-caking component is added in a table salt such as aluminum silicate. These anti-caking, or other chemicals causes the pH of sodium chloride salt to be acid, which is often a pH of 5, which is very far ideal from the blood's pH of 7.35, the further it is, the more it requires energy by the body to push the food intake from 5 to 7.35. Interestingly sea salt chemistry is interesting and much more compatible with the body since it's pH averages 7.5 to 8.5, with averages (atÂ least from my own samples) to be 7.8, so the differences are smaller between the blood pH.
The additional advantage is the majority of the foods we eat in civilized society is 90% of allÂ foods is acid forming. This makes the advantage of sea salt whose pH is 7.8 and baking soda's pH of 8, to cause more balance so that the osmotic balance is balanced between the gut and the body, stopping constipation. Hence, my remedy for reduction of constipation uses sea salt and baking soda. A more concentrated solution is used to stop constipation and cause a laxative effect necessary to induce loose stools. The common remedy, depending on severity, is as follows that I used is (rough remedy):
Mild constipation 1/2 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/2 teaspoon sea salt in 1/2 glass of water.
Chronic constipation: 1 teaspoon baking soda plus 1 teaspoon of sea salt in 1/2 glass of water.
Both the concentration and dose were needed to resolve this. I can't possiblyÂ explain everything about the chemistry of this, but this is a rough summary of the dose. In small children the dose to cause loose stools that I might use is often roughly 1/2 of the dose ofÂ mild constipation for cases to induce loose stools or diarrhea.
Therefore the main elements where chelation therapy does not seem to work are usually, metabolic acidosis from dietary choices, low bicarbonate intakes, excessive dose of chelation is used, salinity levels are low, chloride levels are high, magnesium levels are low, antioxidant levels are low are the major elements.
Magnesium interestingly are sacrificed by the body as the body tries to rid of heavy metals and hence it is not surprising that hair mineral analysis and other analysis will reveal magnesium levels to be consistently low if the body has already high level of heavy metals. Magnesium seems to help carry out heavy metals more and causes magnesium to be low. But the plethora of toxins people put inÂ their body, especially western diets are amazing and it's no surprise why people are sick: fluorine levels are high in drinking water, aluminum are high, metal cooking utensils introducedÂ in the body using the vegetable oils as a means of carrying them into the body, excessive rancid oils from heated vegetable oils inducing oxidization, and many more.
In event of a candida, it is often an indication of high heavy metals, but to be more specific, high level of circulating metals are apparent during chelation therapy. The reason why some people who do not have problems despite high level of circulating heavy metals and can handle them, it's usually that the initial amount of heavy metals lodged in tissues are already low, the body's alkalinity levels are high, magnesium levels are high as the main variables.
It SHOULD BE noticed that the very reason why I don't mentioned the "cilantro paste" recipe elsewhere in theÂ internet is that the constant need of spacing and the lower dose usage are far more important to proper chelation therapies is needed to reduce the circulating heavy metals due toÂ bottleneck, gatekeeping kidneys. These chelation therapies are in fact very dependent on the initial level of body's alkalinity too. Also many health practitioners often can't explain some these phenomenon because their methodologies are often too aggressive using large dose, which often is an overlook variable as well as ignoring too often the importance of alkalization.
However there are supporting elements that I also used that is important in chelation therapy too, such as the use of granulated lecithin before the chelation therapy also. It also prevents demyelination which often occurs when there is high level of circulating heavy metals during the chelation process.
Therefore to solve these problems, alkalization remedy I used are a couple of different kinds, the basic one,Â and more advanced one (which deal more with candida), another one to deal with energy levels, and a newer one to deal with constipation from dry gut, and the last one which dealsÂ with constipation AND candida.
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in at least 1/2 glass of water (ideally 1 glass of water) twice a day.
2. Advanced one (deals more directly with candida issues and skin problems during chelation):
1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate (washing soda) in at least 1/2 glass of water three times a day.
3. Deals more with energy levels (and certain gut problems with high level of tartrate from improper fermentative):
2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day.
4. Alkalization, Dry Gut and Constipation
1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt in 1 glass of water.
5. Alkalization, but deals withÂ candida AND constipation:
This remedy needs sea salt and bicarbonates for it to work, at the very least. It SHOULD BE NOTED that certain people who took unnecessarilyÂ high amounts of probiotics necessary to help their condition are often metabolic acidosis and acid gut. Acid gut kills probiotic immediately. In fact research has shown that gut flora are easily changed without the necessity of probiotics by ALTERING the acidity level of the gut with more ALKALINITY using bicarbonates, and lower fruit intakes and sour foods of all kinds. In that event, a more fitting remedy may likely be the 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate (washing soda) in at least 1/2 glass of water three times a day as this more effective in alkalizing and changing the flora balance to NORMAL, without the need to push probiotics. The environmental guts needs to be altered before probiotics can gain foothold. In my case I don't need to take probiotics because changingÂ the gut environment mostly the
Â pH, but salinity are also important. Therefore an addition of sea salt in drinking water are needed such as 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt with 1/8Â teaspoon of baking soda in 1 liter of drinking water.
As usual, I can't quite possibly cover everything or even most of process of chelation and problems that occur. But for me I used low dose cilantro, spacing of dose, magnesium, sea salt,and baking soda as the main elements, but I also used in addition to those lecithin, fish oils to raise omega 3 among other things, depending on the person involved. However a very simple way to reduce candida which occurs is the 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate (washing soda - a precursor of sodium bicarbonate) in at least 1/2 glass of water taken three times a day. The drinking water I used to help is 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt plus 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda in 1 glass of drinking water. I am experimenting with a newer drinkingÂ water for more general conditions of problems that water, I sometimes called ORMUS water, which is, 1/4 teaspoon baking soda, 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate and 1/4Â teaspoon of sea salt in 1 liter of drinking water. This is a version
Â 1 formula, but I think a modified form to taste less salty using half of baking soda, sodium carbonate and sea salt. As a tip, I prefer cilantro first, chlorella second, and spirulina third. In practice I will use cilantro, in case if it can't be found, i might use the other ones.

08/18/2009: April from Las Vegas, Nv replies: Hi Ted, I am a mess. I found this post by doing a search for "parasites nursing." I am a nursing mom and after a ton of research suspect I have parasites and a candida imbalance. After reading your posts, I am sipping on himalayan salt water and baking soda. I would use the washing soda (is that borax?) but I don't have any so this will get me started. I have eczema that started on my hands during my pregnancy over a year ago, and now it has spread up my arm and I'm afraid it's going to keep spreading. I have been treating my son who also has eczema, with a parasite tincture with wormwood, cloves and walnut hull and his rash is going away. I can't find anything that says whether this is safe for me to use while nursing so I haven't done it yet. BUT last night he had left his glass sitting there and I walked by and took a swig and realized it was his cleanse after I swallowed it. Well today my rash is not hot, inflamed or painful and seems to be quickly healing. I am excited and amazed and scared. I read something a long time ago that I could pass the parasites to my baby if I try to cleanse while nursing. I want so badly to start cleansing but also have to put my sons health first. I have taken 1 tbsp bentonite with 1 tsp psyllium on 3 separate occasions. About once every 3 weeks, and I had one bentonite bath. Should I continue with this with the baking soda, salt water?
I eat a high raw diet. No meat, dairy or gluten. I just want to be healthy and feel like a failure with this rash taking over my arm. Oh, I also think I noticed my rash getting worse before when I used spirulina, but I am constantly blaming one food or another for my issues so I could be wrong.
My question is: Some websites areÂ insisting that candida albicans thrives in an alkaline environment.Â I've read this many places specifically, the website from the Biamonte Center for Clinical Nutrition saying that the cells may be acid but, the intracelluar fluid is alkaline causing candida to thrive (in the small intestine). Also read similar reports on a good website using H2O2 for cancer treatment. Please let me in on your thought about this.
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: A lot of many website not only don't provide information, and if the information they do provide its often disinformation. If you are a microbiologist trying to grow a candida, a slightly acid environment is always needed, below 7. An esophagus pH of a candida is always below 6, so I don't know how they managed to cure if they keep doing that. Do they have results? Many yeast infections grows and bread mold grow if sugar is given, and sugar is acid. Intracellular argument doesn't hold water because the intracellular fluids are very exacting and slightly acid, but fungus and candida does not grow inside the cell, it exist outside a cell in an extracellular body fluids. It easy to determine whether candida grows in acid or alkaline environment. 95% of all foods we eat are acid forming. Candida grows whenever acid forming foods are taken, this includes sugar, cakes, chocolate, colas, and the list goes on and on. Interestingly, candida can't grow or dies immediately in present of milk of magnesia (very alkaline), vegetarian diets,' sodium carbonate, etc. I give you a simple example of a bathroom cleaner, ammonia bo peep floor cleaner. This kills off fungus on cement wall much more easier than if I just use ordinary water and detergent. Fungus in general have a weakness for alkalinity and it is this reason why fungus are found on the ground near the sea coast more than it is found in deep oceans or in the middle of a pacific oceans. The reason why this is so is simple: the pH of the world's ocean is 8, an alkaline solution, while the pH of the coastal waters and fungus houses it's pH averages 5-6. A dirt a farmers grow, the pH is usually 6.5 and that's also below 7 and this is why fungus and molds grow in the dirt easily. The job of these little organism in the grand scheme of mother nature is to decay dead organic matters and in order to DIGEST these dead organic matters they must produce acid to digest the protein. However people who eat acid forming foods and acidic food are more or less like the walking dead, and the bacteria thinks your body is decaying like a dead organic entity whenever tey are dead, its becomes and acid and these organism picks up the cue that we are living dead and hence begin to digest us alive. This is why some people with long term yeast infection and candida reversed the condition whenever alkalizing remeides is used. Or if you don't believe me take acid forming foods like aspartame, sugar, cakes, cookies, which I am sure will do than to cause the body for further decay. I think if I had to do it all over again, I would have gotten our ph levels balanced BEFORE starting course of h202 therapy, but as it was, I was already in the middle of it when I stumbled upon this site for using ACV in hopes of curing other ailments we all had. For the ACV therapy I used the standard 2 Tbl ACV (organic unpasteurized is best, NOT white vinegar!) mixed with 1/4 tsp baking soda.Â
Finding the right dosage for your younger children will have to use some smart thinking and regulating.Â Only you know your child best.Â Always start with smaller amounts when in doubt and gradually build up.Â My 16 year old could not stomache more than 20 drops of 35% h202 3x's a day.Â For my 11 year old I did a max of 14 drops 3x daily and my 6 year old, 8 drops 3xs daily.Â I have heard lecitin can be used to help lessen the nausea that is often associated with taking h202 orally, though I have not personally tried it.Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: The H2O2 and Apple cider vinegar mixed with baking soda should be kept (updated remedy) at least 3-6 hours apart or alternate days so that they won't neutralize each other. So this newer remedy does not require to be taken on alternate days, but kept 3-6 hours apart so that the remedy will be much more effective. While more H2O2 drops definitely helps and is as effective as MMS, it is not as toxic in the long run as the MMS, as the body simply has little tolerance for chlorinated compounds in general, with exception of salt. Some other remedies I have found to help candida besides alkalization is the borax remedy such as 1/4 teaspoon of borax in one liter of water plus 30 drops of 3% H2O2, which is generally a mild remedy but a more effective one against candida. Although 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day further discourages candida, it should be noted that borax or boron are strongly antifungals and has longer effect in getting rid of candida. The other thing I might add that is important is the use of some sea salt such as 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt a day in 1/2 glass of water can raise the salinity of the body further discouraging candida growth. Oil pulling helps in removing heavy metals which sometimes fuels candida growth. Excess blood calcium supports candida growth which is why alkalization commonly reduces blood calcium discouraging. I have also found recently that either or d-mannose and xylitol, at 1/2 teaspoon can perhaps taken twice or three times a day prevents fungus from attaching and discourage their growth too. Of course I tend to support milder remedies but using a couple of supplements taking advantages of synergistic effect instead of any particular single remedies to gang up against the yeast, without much side effects from such use. Certain other mineral supplements discourages candida, such as chromium, vanadium and tungsten, but also molybdenum. However current supplements in the market the dose is too small to see results. It should be noted that at least in wood preservatives, chromium does indeed have antifungal properties, but some literature shows sodium molybdate might also discourage candida growth too. However for my own candida, I was simply cured simply taking two doses of sea salt, alkalization and some hydrogen peroxide. The sea salt seems to help in some cases where the dose is seen as 1/2 teaspoon per 1/2 glass of' water and then I take later 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda twice a day. I am also most helped with borax, but I need to take it for about a week. So if I do this, I need not take too much hydrogen peroxide. My maximum dose for hydrogen peroxide is simply 1 and 1/2 tablespoon of 3% Hydrogen peroxide in 1/2 glass of water, but I rarely go that far as using other things added is most helpful, but without the added side effects. It should be noted still despite all these complicated remedies I have, that I think sea salt and baking soda were most helpful for me, and for stubborn cases I might consider adding D-mannose and/or xylitol.

It is easy to tell whether it is a money making scheme or not. A candida yeast infection will be worse if you take more sugar. The video mentioned that a cure through oxygen therapy and yes it will destroy it, but if enough sugar is taken it will be there nevertheless. So a "cure" is not possible as the cause is not eliminate.
The video mentioned about "friendly" versus non-friendly bacteria imbalance, but how nature maintains equilibrium is not just oxygen, but certain nutrients which are quite antifungal, such as sulfur, magnesium, no sugar, and in one research study I have read, alkalinity of the foods we eat was a major factor in maintaining some, if not most of the microfloral balance so that an overgrowth do not occur. Excess of free heavy will also lead to overgrowth, but interestingly antibiotics use can lead to this just the same. Any one who tries to be simplistic and ignore sugar, alkalinity, mineral imbalance can have trouble getting rid of it.
What I do generally, as a basic foundation is to get the alkalinity issue and achieve urinary pH of 7. That means 2 tablespoon of lime juice plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water (at least!) taken twice a day to achieve a normal parameter. An ocean's water averages a pH of 8, and proper salinity, and you hardly see candida also. This is at least a clue. Yeast tends to grow in acid environment and it takes about two weeks for the body to attain sufficient alkalinity necessary to control the yeast. Yeast food is primarily sugar so taken sugar and oral oxygen will hardly work.
A little know information is that candida yeast can be maintained if pH and nutrient in the body is maintained at NORMAL parameters. Alkalinity is primarily one of them, but then so is sufficient sulfur (from Methyl sulfonyl methane), boron (from borax), and magnesium. Other minerals that discourages yeast are molybdenum (there's hardly any in most mineral supplements) and sometimes vitamin B complex.
Since certain amino acids are anti fungal, and the price of individual amino acids are still expensive (at least here in Bangkok), I might take certain nutrient dense food, such as chinese wolfberries 2 tablespoon a day, with plenty of water.
Fungus tend to grow on rancid food as a result of oxidation and spoilage from lack of antioxidants added as a food preservatives. Hence, vitamin E (200 i.u.) and alkaline vitamin C sodium ascorbate (500 mg), and ester C (fat soluble vitamin C), chlorella (500 mg), vitamin D3 (5000 i.u.), vitamin K2 (100 mcg from Japanese Natto) for example will prevent fungal growth.
Fungus is a necessary part in nature's way to decay organic matter by lack of antioxidants. So while in the short-term oxidants or oxygen therapy may work, it is not going to work in the long run. The video mentioned actually was influenced by certain studies that mentioned effectiveness of suppression of yeast candida with the use of chlorine dioxide (one of the oxygen therapies). But even with this, we are hardly discussing the fact that fungus tends to grow best if the antioxidant in a living cell and alkalinity is sufficiently maintained. Certain amino acid may hold the future to yeast candida, but it is not within my reach to do these experiments because of budget problems, but certain rich amino acid foods such as soy amino acids, amino acid supplements and chinese wolfberries may deal with most of the imbalance.
One other thing that fungus tend to grow best from excess antibiotics, besides the fact that antibiotics cause acidosis is that antibiotics cause accumulation of heavy metals. High numbers of heavy metals are prooxidant, as opposed to antioxidant, and reduction of FREE heavy metals can also starve the yeast. A well known Fenton reaction which causes free radicals from metals from free metal iron, which tends to come from foods we eat in iron cookware, metal pipes, and even stainless steel cookware. I have actually measured free metals to be high in most drinking water, and taking some chlorella supplement, a heavy metal chelator, or avoiding tap water, or working near metallic machinery can result in yeast infection and sometimes even lupus. Therefore the other missing key is reduction of free heavy metals, either separately or together taking chlorella, chinese parsley, EDTA, cod liver oil, sodium thiosulfate drops, and many other chelators, pomegranate, green tea (prepared from A GLASS JAR ONLY - do not use metal pots!!!!), including a citrate (from lemon and baking soda)
If I were a con man, I will always try to promote one single theory and avoid the rest. The reason is economics (from mass production and volume sales). I don't need to buy so many supplements in stock and make money not from the cures, but from the analysis and large scale selling of a single product on a single theory. Unfortunately nature requires a balance of several things, pH, salinity, antioxidant, and low glycemic foods.

The xylitol won't raise the sugar that much but most polyol sugar I found tends to cause the body to be somewhat more acid, but especially the mannitol and possibly the mannose sugar. Hence, if xylitol were taken I would consider taking more baking soda or citrates (from lemon and baking soda remedy). Usually the simple baking soda remedy requires about 1/4 teaspoon in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day. If sleepiness is indicated, I will take it in early and late evening.
Alkalization is an important factor in reducing the problems of candida, although a borax remedy used together, such as 1/4 teaspoon of borax in one liter drinking water drank the whole day may work better as the borax is antifungal. Generally fungus and yeast has difficulties in growth in presence of high mineral boron, copper, molybdenum, chromium, vanadium, tungsten, and possibly manganese, but also certain compounds such as ammonium, polyol sugars (e.g. xylitol!) and alkalization.
It should be noted that polyol sugars, which is xylitol, have antifungal properties that is hard to ignore. My experience of diabetes is that the cause of diabetes came from high fatty foods and free fatty acid (glycine supplements will reduce that), while sugar only made it worse. Sugar causes acidosis and interferes with the body's immune system. Taken at 10 grams of sugar (sucrose), causes the body's immune system to be impaired for about 5 hours. Hence, drinking plenty of water (with some sea salt at 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt per one liter of water, or in addition to the 1/8 teaspoon of borax that I might add too) will dilute the sugar concentration in the body by 1/2 the sugar level if the water were drank twice the amount. Hence a person with a sugar of 280, if drank twice the amount of water would have only 140 instead since the water (with some salt to help protect electrolytic balance PLUS some magnesium) would dilute the sugar level, yet maintaining a steady pH and electrolytes of the body.
A longer term strategy against fungus is to lower the body's sugar level with one tablespoon of lecithin would at least reduce the food source of the fungus, which consists of high fats (yes, fungus loves this), high metals (from metal pots and pans and iron cookware), and of course, high sugar (most dangerous is the glucose, fructose, but to some extent the sucrose). Borax interferes with the negative effects of sugar by protecting the sugar's reaction of glycation that damages the cell and hence, borax, is my favorite treatment against candida, and other yeast infection problem in general.

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Without going through all the symptoms mentioned and the whys, the symptoms you are describing are a very nearly complete description of a classic acidosis, which can trigger a chain reaction of various problems which all the symptoms mentioned are due to that as being a major one. Digestive enzymes are acid forming, so that may make it worse generally. Coconut oil merely rids of microbes, but they come back because the body's pH and nutrients imbalance makes it an ideal environment for "bad bacteria" to grow back again, ad infinitum.
Therefore, a simple 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda plus 8 teaspoon of lime juice freshly squeezed (which is about one whole lime) mixed in 1/2 glass of water or just 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/4 teaspoon of citric acid, which is taken about 2 times a day for about 2-3 weeks should resolve the underlying cause.
Deep breathing exercises should help with foggy brain and magnesium citrate supplements and some vitamin C sodium ascorbate 500- 1000 mg taken for only 4 or 5 days out of a week, for a brief period of a month should correct some other biochemical parameters to normal, mostly anyway. When things get better may be once or twice a week 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in one liter of water or more should help flush out or correct the electrolytic imbalance and some micromineral imbalances also. Obviously I am assuming you are already eating a healthy diet, so not much mention is needed here except that ice cream, potatoes, cheese and white bread should be avoided. Rice and whole wheat flour can be suitable replacements.

I am astounded. 4 days solid I have increased energy, mental and physical and my bms have been close to normal. I have not experienced any of these things in well over two years. My question to you is how can I help my 14 yr old son who suffers from allergies/ asthma so severely that he wishes he would die. 08/21/2011: Bob from Attica, Ny replies: On the mucous, gas, bloating problem... This problem is caused and worsened by lectins. Most people have never heard of lectins before besides maybe hearing or seeing the occasional mention of gluten. Lectins are contained in grains, legumes, seeds and some vegetables, particularly members of the nightshade family (tomato, potato, peppers). Soy contains some the highest concentrations of lectins. Lectins can cause a host of problems, or even death (racin in castor beans) especially if you have intolerances to them, which does not show up in blood or allergy tests. You should google lectins and do some research on them. Wikipedia had some pretty good info on them. One of the things lectins does is cause the body to create a thicker mucous lining in the intestines. That's why fiber keeps things moving. However the only individual research on fiber determined that peoples that ate high fiber diets also had highest mortality rates. So chronically destroying your intestine has dire results. Anyway that thick mucous lining greatly lowers absorption causing vitamin/mineral deficiencies, beneficial flora die off because they cannot adhere which allows fungus and pathogenic bacteria to flourish. The list goes on and on with other problems the lectins cause, like leaky gut, so definitely read research them.
As for the probiotics... Make sure you are taking a high quality supplement with acidophilis(sp?) DDS. The DDS is important as is the best strain and shown in research survive stomach acids and bile salts and actually colonize in the small intestine. Also very important, the probiotic supplement should be stable at room temperature and contain the amount of live cultures listed on the label until the date of expiration (usually 1 to 2 years)... Not just at the time of manufacture. You should aim for a product that has live cultures in the 60 billion or more per dose range. I recently saw one on Mercola.com that met all the requirements. I think it was in the $30 range for a months supply.
Something else you might want to try with the gas/bloating/indigestion is apple cider vinegar. 2 tablespoons in 8 ounces of water. You can also add a teaspoon or 2 of honey to help make it more palatable. Heard very good results from friends/relatives with acid reflux and heartburn, especially if taken about half hour before each meal. Worth a try.

Most improvement should be helped with taking the lemon and baking soda remedy. The remedy is 8 teaspoon of lemon juice freshly squeezed plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water.
The remedy may be synergist if fishes are eaten such as baked fishes, since they are high in amines, which breaks into trace ammonium compounds in the body and are antifungal in nature.
Generally a pinch of borax added to a drinking water, which is generally equal to 1/16 teaspoon of borax in 1 glass of water for a couple of days out of a week should help.
If viruses is a problem, usually a zinc gluconate 50 mg plus 250 mg of magnesium citrate or magnesium gluconate would help reduce those bacterial load, but the most important thing at least for me is to get my urine pH to at least 7.0 - which is by the way is neutral.

It has been my observation that you will be most help with alkalizing, borax, sodium ascorbate vitamin C and chelation of heavy metals being the most effective in dealing with candida.

Yes prepare a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution of 1/2 liter and add about 1/2 tablespoon of borax. Apply this topically to the body. The solution may be drying in dry cold weather, but this may not be a problem in California.
Consider 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken 3 times a day on an empty stomach. This should be done along with the borax.
IN chelation, eat plenty of chinese parsley (coriander) to remove heavy metals which tends to encourage candida growth. For me I just take a handful and eat them once a day to remove this problem for about 4 days out of 7 days. The body simply needs a break of about 3 days.
Vitamin C sodium ascorbate 500 mg. is needed for the body to maintain a good antioxidant level at least in neutralizing some free radicals from the candida growth.
Consider taking some zinc acetate 50 mg/ per week and pare off the dose to once every 2 or 3 weeks. It helps raise the immune system.
In certain cases where candida remains unresponsive, than 10,000 to 20,000 i.u. of vitamin D3 for about a month. Vitamin D helps raise the body's immune system against a known candida.
There are others but borax, alkalizing and chelation is the three most important at least in the beginning of the treatment.

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: Nikki: Most drug store and supermarkets will have zinc, but you just have to read the labels. Most importantly, it is important to avoid zinc sulfate. The best zinc I found that was helpful are zinc acetate, zinc citrate, zinc gluconate. Chelated zinc varies greatly depending on what kinds of amino acid they have attached, and most companies won't even put that on the labels. With that kind of question mark, I tend to avoid. I personally prefer zinc acetate as I have had a lot of good results from that one. The biggest problems I have about zinc, is you need to do the 15 minute test. Put a zinc tablet in a glass of water. If it does not dissolve in 15 minutes, it is useless as the body cannot absorb them well.

Again, the dose should be fairly large, along with malates, selenium, etc. Please reread the above abstract. What they are basically saying is more nicotinamide shortens the lifespan of candida and yeast cells. A more telling story about your body's terrain which causes candida in the first place and should tell the whole story such as urinary ORP, pH, and sugar.

It must be understood that all those SIR 2, etc. sounds complicated. But in practice, niacinamide is the preferred ones. Theories and practice don't always go together. It depends on which ones work for you best.
If you are serious about getting rid of candida, you should look into other nutrients which prevents yeast proliferation and not just that alone, such as molybdenum, manganese, for example. Foods high in phosphorus, sugar may trigger a candida growth also. The biological terrain for candida is a simple one, they tend to proliferate when the body's pH is out of balance, so often, the removal of them is to alkalize by taking plenty of baking soda, such as 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda twice a day, mixed with water. When the body reaches alkalinity, yeast cells for some reason simply can't hold onto the body and gets loose. Raising your body's pH is one thing you should consider. Sugar control can be furthered by taking glucophage, and granulated lecithin. These will help the body normalize sugar control It is important to avoid oily foods and fried foods.

It must be stated again that you cannot just concentrate on any one nutrition. Both zinc and selenium for example are quite important for the controlling of candida yeast.
