LUPUS DOSAGE
03/13/2008: S writes: "Q. Is it o.k. to increase 2000 i.u. to 6000 i.u instead of taking the 20,000 i.u of vitamin D per day? I am currently taking low dose chemotherapy from lupus with 7.5 prednisolone"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Most doctors used about 20,000- 40,000 i.u. alone of vitamin D3 to treat osteoporosis and rickets in a child, but commercially supplements sells only within the RDA guidelines and then it becomes a great divide between what doctors use and what supplements companies give. A human body produces 10,000 i.u. of vitamin D in the sun for a couple of hours, and our caveman ancestors produced about 10,000 mg of vitamin C a day before we lost the genes to produce that and now are taking RDA levels at 25-50 mg of vitamin C. Therefore any dose below that makes sense since that is not an overdose if I based the figures on what doctors are actually providing. Low dose conventional medicine is quite often the safest way to approach anything because most often patient get sick or side effects, which I do know might not come from the medication, but from taking a very high dose as the prime reason for much of the side effects. Most people with lupus will opt to take prednisolone, which I think is quite helpful if taken along with alternative medicine supplements especailly with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day and 1/4 teaspoon of borax in one liter of drinking water as the prime remedy for lupus. The other important additon I found is to add 30 drops of 3% H2O2 in a one liter drinking water with some 1/8 teaspoon of xylitol to prevent certain fungus inside the body from forming colonies. If someone do not like xylitol, than other polyol alcohol is ok or similarly such as d- mannose, but for me this is needed in higher amounts such as 1/2-1 teaspoon added in per liter of drinking water."

MUSCLE WASTING PROBLEM
12/13/2007: Jill writes: "Hi Ted I sent you an e-mail a couple of weeks ago regarding my husbands muscle wasting problem. You very kindly sent us loads of information and he has made a start. I have a small query regarding vitamin D3 I know you said your grandmother was helped by very large doses of D3 but 25.000 i.u.per day is a lot. Did you mean 2.500 i.u's? We managed to get some that are 600i.u. but he would need to take 40 a day and it would be very expensive Everything in the UK sees to be very expensive. Please can you advise. Regards"

OLDER MAN, DOSAGE AND FORM
04/08/2007: B writes: "In reference to Vitamin D what would be the right amount for a male 68 yrs old, and in what form should it be taken? Thank You"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "B: A healthy body (but most people are not that healthy) can easily produce 10,000 i.u. The range I think is appropriate is anywhere from 2000 i.u. to 20,000 i.u. Most vitamin D2 do not sell in the 10,000 i.u. to 20,000 i.u. but are used by doctors and their dose is a lot larger than what i stated here for treatment on rickets and other related bone problem. The body when it reaches that age, produces only about 1/6 of the vitamin D the body required. The problem is the body cannot produced as much even in a sunlight. Some people with lupus cannot even get exposed to sunlight because the free radicals from UV created autoimmunity, so it is obvious they will lack vitamin D. Magnesium should be taken along with the vitamin D so the body will get the critical Magnesium: calcium ratio in order too."
