[YEA]  12/27/2007: Andreina from Roma, Italy writes: "In the morning, I mix 1Tbl ACV with a pint of water, and 1/4 teaspoon of salt. I put it in a bottle and drink it throughout the day. I repeat the prosedure in the afternooon, so I drink 2 pints a day. It cures everything (my acne, sore throat, stomach ache, dry skin, sore joints...etc) I've been doing this for 3 months, and have dropped 7.5 kilograms! I <3 water! Be sure to mix it with salt and vinegar, so you don't lose vital nutrients, and sodium!"

ALKALINE WATER

12/30/2010: Mike from Minneapolis, Mn writes: "I've been reading your site for a few days now. It seems that most references to drinking alkaline water are references to adding baking soda to water or other such additions. Perhaps I'm just not finding the right post, but are there any thoughts on the water ionizing machines that produce two streams of water, one alkaline and one acidic.

Thanks,
Mike"

09/17/2009: Kathy from Dubois, Pa replies: "I use one of those "on the faucet" type filters (can't name it...sorry), which cost about $20.00 each and last a couple of months. But they only remove free chlorine. As far as I know, the only way to get rid of bound chlorine is through distillation or reverse osmosis."
09/18/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To Sandra from Sudbery:

Hello Sandra,

When cleaning and refilling the water in your aquarium, the instructions tell you to run and leave tap water sitting overnight and the next day the chlorine will be gone. I haven't had an aquarium in years, but suspect that this is probably still effective in removing chlorine from tap water."
09/18/2009: Kathy from Dubois, Pa replies: "It is a good method for removing FREE chlorine, but the BOUND chlorine remains."
01/04/2010: Wydo from Ventura, Ca replies: "I would like to, not only dechlorinate the water to my house but defluoranate it as well. Has anyone tried to do this? I thought of adding sodium thiosulfate and boarx to a water softener or a chemical injection system. Any way I look at this it is expensive equipment to buy and I don't know if it would work.

Please, if anyone out there has tried this or has any thoughts on this, post your ideas here.

Thanks"
01/05/2010: Kathleen from San Antonio, Texas replies: "There are three ways to remove fluoride from water. Distillation, reverse osmosis, and filtration with activated alumina. The last is more recent. Currently I get my drinking water from one of the RO coin operated units at the store as it is reasonably priced. I'm considering one of the whole house filter units when I can afford it to avoid skin absorption of both the chlorine and fluoride."

DISTILLED

12/20/2011: Kevin from Crossett, Arkansas writes: "I've been taking the H2o2 3% mixture internally now, for awhile, and I just want to know if there's anything I can add to the mixture to make it taste better. I know the H2o2 isn't supposed to mix with certain things, and it's not the H2o2 that tastes bad. I just don't like the taste of this distilled water, I've been getting. So, is there anything safe, that I can add?"

07/17/2011: Phil from Athens - Pagrati, Attica, Greece writes: "Hello wonderful people.

I've got two questions about distilled water:

1)Since it is not the easiest thing to find in Greece and when you find it, it is cost much more than deionized water, can we consider the water that comes out of a drippimg coffee maker (filter coffee) as distilled ? If not why? It is the same way. Water boils, becomes vapor , vapor condenses to water again.

And 2) if so, do we have to add sea salt in it to consume it?

Greetings to all from hot (poor) Athens"

DISTILLED OR FILTERED WATER

QUESTION

[QUESTION]  02/25/2009: Sean from New York, NY writes: "Hi. First let me just say that I'm new to this site and I think it's great. I'm going to start doing some of the remedies (ACV, BSM, oil pulling maybe). I've been reading a lot and I've noticed or it seems most people are using distilled water or some form of other water that doesn't have pollutants or as much in it. I don't know if I missed something but my question is... I know it may sound stupid but:

Is it ok to use filtered water(using Brita) when using any of these remedies that I plan on using as mentioned above or with any remedy that is mentioned on your site? I just want to make sure that using the water filtered through the Brita is ok to use?

Thank you."

DISTILLED VS REVERSE OSMOSIS

QUESTION

[QUESTION]  07/31/2009: Maryanne from Seattle, Washington writes: "I have a question about water. I researched the entire water and distilled water section, but I am still a bit confused about what the best choice is. It seems that plain distilled or Reverse Osmosis water is not beneficial to health, but mineral water is the best. Of course I do want to remove dangerous chemicals such as Flouride and Chlorine, but not remove good minerals. What kind of water purifier is best? and what should I add to the finished water to provide minerals (is it sea salt?) I'm interested in an inexpensive countertop variety, if you cant say brand names, then just email me."

Replies
08/02/2009: Rob from Manhattan, New York replies: "the notion that distilled water is dead water seems to be a myth.. we get all the minerals we need from vegetable etc. I trust Dr. Weil's opinion ...he uses a D3 distiller.. but also says that carbon block with KDF (a copper zinc combination that retards bacteria growth) are OK. I use a carbon KDF but do find I need to change it every 4 to 6 months..and I also flush it for 30 seconds before using...I would prefer the distiller but it is too expensive."

DISTILLED VS. DEMINERALIZED

01/02/2011: Brendan from Adelaide, South Australia writes: "Anybody know what the difference is between distilled and demineralised water, I tried to go buy distilled the other day from the laundry isle because I remember my mum buying it for the iron, but all I found was deminerallised. Is this the same thing? Thanks.

QUESTION

11/24/2011: Betty from Tampa, Florida writes: "Does anybody know a good reverse osmosis or distillation unit with carbon when on a budget? There are just so many online ads and most are very expensive. Watching some recent videos of all the chemicals they use to clean the water and the fluoride they add I need to do something! I had a $300 conterop three filter unit but the alumina from the fluoride filter leaked and then I read it was a byproduct of the aluminum industry. I know Ted recommended we can put borax and sodium thiolsulfate to get rid of the fluoride and chrlone but you can't do this 7 seven days a week as to my understanding and if I want to take other supplements like H2O2 I can't mix them. This world is getting so crazy in toxicity you almost feel like a conspiracy theorist when you have some education what is really going on."

12/06/2011: Sarita from London, Uk replies: "Hi Betty,

I've just been researching water distillers and Megahome's get the best reviews (including for safety) and it is reasonably priced. The plastic collection jug is BPA free. Be aware it will heat/steam up the room it is in, and makes some 'white noise'. It can run overnight though.

From what I've read it IS sensible to add minerals back in. This can be done with liquid mineral supplements or, I believe, perhaps a little pinch of a good salt like Himalayan Pink Salt? (any comments anyone?) This model includes a filter which gets out odorless nasties like Volatile Organic Compounds."

Esprit64, if you are concerned with the chemical contents of your bottled water, I would suggest you buy and drink steam distilled water. I have been drinking only distilled water for the past 19 years because of similar concerns. If you are concerned about the lack of good minerals that you might be missing, add a trace mineral supplement to your diet either seperately or disolved in your distilled water."

03/07/2011: Tom Cavanaugh from Dallas, Tx writes: "I do a lot of swimming in chlorinated swimming pools (Usually 5 times a week for 30 - 40 minutes). I was wondering what impact that this has on my body. Does the chlorine that is absorbed through my skin help create an acidic condition in my body? What impact is their on my internal organs as a result of this type of exposure? Does chlorine in the body contribute to gout?"

Replies
03/09/2011: Mesem from Toulon, France replies: "Ted says keep away from chlorine treated pools as the chlorine displaces iodine and so mucks up glands. I swim often in pools too and hate how it dries the skin but taking iodine does help against this. I am less sensitive to the chlor. Since I started taking Lugol's. I have friends who have swum regularly all their lives in town pools and look pretty good on it. I think you must balance all the positive effects against the 1 negative and take a good soapy shower after!"

02/12/2011: Jordan from Auckland, New Zealand writes: "I've read a caution in several placees now to use distilled water when diluting H2O2.

However I live in the city, and I drink alot of regular tap water (chlorinated, flouridated, to be sure). Do I only need distilled water for diluting the H202 down to lower concentrations and storage... or does this mean that my daily glass of water with H202 needs to be distilled as well?

Not easy for me to acquire enough distilled water for drinking on a daily basis."

Replies
02/12/2011: Stonfieldsian from Auckland, New Zealand replies: "I've been told (by Microlene NZ) that tap water in Auckland also contains farm-disposed chemicals (antibiotics, hormones, pesticides, super sulphates.... ) after the council sourced water from Waikato River, Since then I never consumed drinking water straight right from the tap.

While a 10L distilled water from Countdown cost around NZ$7, you might consider a home unit water distiller at NZ$310 which produces 4L of distilled water every 6 hours.

Try Mitre 10 and the brand is Spring Flow (if I am allowed to mention brand names here). You might also try TradeMe for cheaper choices."
02/14/2011: Mesem from Toulon, France replies: "Surely with the amount of rain Auckland gets it would be better to at least start with rain water. If you catch the rain after it has rained for an hour it has to be pretty pure. It is disgusting how bad the water is in NZ for the size of the population and the authorities always add way too much chlorine. I know of places here in France where water is still so pure it does not have to be treated."

[YEA]  10/05/2007: Jared from Portland, Oregon writes: "After my last gout attack and starting my self on a PH balancing regiment with ACV and Baking Soda. During the summer months, I tend to buy a lot of filtered bottled water (not distilled). One day I was reading a label very closely and they state that this water has added potassium and sodium bicarbonate to replace the minerals lost through sweat. As a benefit, the ph is 9. So for those looking for a portable bottled water to help with disolving uric acid, Essentia touts increased alkakinity for health. The same ideal that Ted preaches.
