SIDE EFFECTS: FIX A BURN?

03/25/2008: Vinny from Atlanta, GA writes: "I didn't dilute Tea Tree enough and put it on my face a little to get rid of a blemish. It went from a burn, to a blister, and now it's a dark patch (scar) on the right side of my face. I have put the following many times a day and nothing has improved; it has been two weeks already:
*ACV
*Lavender
*Grape Seed Oil
*Cocunut Oil
*"Isomer E" (400UI)with double Antioxidant than regular Vitamin E 1000U
*Cayenne Pepper
*Tumeric Powder
*Aloe Vera
*Fish Oils

What to do??? I am desperate - Please HELP!"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Certain tea tree oil's quality maybe not up to standards.

Most burnt skin is often due to underlying skin problems, such as bacteria or fungus, which lead to the immediate drying of skin. Usually plain distilled vinegar may help, followed by baking soda. Using too much oil may not help but certain oils such as natural vitamin e applied lightly and a very small amount of aloe oil might help. It should be noticed that tea tree oil should be tested in small area of arm before the use of face.

In any event, I would likely take 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day. The alkalizing effects have a tendency to reduce the allergic response from tea tree oil. Vinegar can sometimes be applied, but in the long run, baking soda washing of face is more gentle. Drying can be helped usually with emu oil, vitamin E and some weekly application lightly of aloe vera to reduce the burning and blisters.

In event of a sudden burns, usual caused by such use, I will usually wash off with soap and water to get rid of the remaining oils, instead of applying more oils in the beginning. Using too much oils may prevent the skin from oxygen so too much oils is often not helpful."

EFFECTIVE ON BOILS?

11/12/2007: Julianna from Renton, WA writes: "Does anyone know how effective tea tree oil is applied topically and repeatedly for boils? I am a experiencing a boil on my leg for the first time since I was in junior high gymnastics, and my daughter now has one on her face. I've tried tea tree on my leg, and it totally takes away the fluid, but don't know if the connection is valid enough to try on my daughter's nose. Am starting turmeric treatment, but curious about topical applications-especially with MRSA-is tea tree anitmicrobial enough to kill MRSA?"

"'EC: Julianna, the only feedback we have on the site re: tea tree oil and boils is this email:"

Cindy from Payson, AZ replies: "The best cure for any type of infection even moles/skin ticks/ infected staph or other boils that I've tried is TEA TREE OIL. I learned this in India when I traveled there. I had some serious infections that not even antibotics would cure but applying Tea Tree Oil over a few days did the trick. Also pouring proxide as a wash many times a day then treating with Tea Tree Oil does the trick!"

TEA TREE AND LAVENDAR OIL SIDE EFFECTS

03/15/2007: Knight writes: "http://observer.guardian.co.uk/uk_news/story/0,,2015729,00.html people are saying that tea tree oil and lavender cause guys to grow breasts -- any truth to this?"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Knight:

It is extremely difficult to use tea tree oil as abirth control device, or breast enlarger creams forwoman who wants larger breasts. It would be fantasticif that were possible. However, you get better chanceswith hormone replacements.

Most popular press are the voice of the industry'ssponsors or owned by one and anytime antibioticsdangers is likely to be overlooked while they willmagnify the issue of of natural therapiesdisproportionally. Of course natural therapies hurtantibiotics sales and if any industry knows about thisthey will find an excuse somehow.

If you want to know the truth, it is best to look intoscientific journals, where there is less industrysponsor's influence.

There is in fact only one study into this area whichconcerns the use of tea tree oil in adolescents. Thebest way to prevent this adolescent problems in youngboys is simple: use either one or the other but notboth. However the dangers of antibiotics studies isincomparable and it easily reach thousands. Certainherbs can also neutralize estrogenic properties incase you worry, such as wild yams. Most commercialproducts have far more estrogen components than thatof natural therapy, such as those found ininsecticides, woman's perfume, soaps, detergents, etc.

The best way to stabilize the hormones with all thepseudoestrogen out there, I think might be the use ofboron supplements which tend to increase the body'sproduction of hormones such as testosterone, as wellas decrease in prostrate cancer. The boron supplementsI use is a simple borax which I take on many ocassionsfor fungus, yeast, arthritis, bone problems, tendonitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, etc."
