BAKING SODA

[SIDE EFFECTS] 11/01/2007: Dee Dee from Chattanooga, TN writes: "I've been noticing recently, that when I'm resting, I can feel my heart beating strangely. An extra hard beat, then normal. I've been taking about 1/2 - 3/4 tsp of baking soda every night for the last several months, to prevent cancer, etc. I'm 100 lbs. I'm worried I'm taking too much and it's causing irregular heart beats. Could baking soda be the cause??? I'm worried."

[SIDE EFFECTS] 09/22/2007: PollyAnn from Mexico City, USA writes: "re: Baking Soda and Vertigo -- Ted, I was just reading about dizziness [9/7/2007:PL from Naples, Florida, USA], and have a question for you: why would baking soda cause dizziness?
I quit taking it some time ago for my acid reflux because after a few days of taking it I would have these wild dizzy spells. It was so bad when I layed down or turned my head too fast. Suddenly the whole room would start turning like crazy. Anyway, when I quit taking the baking soda everything would return to normal within 1-2 days. I have stopped using regular salt, in its place I am using sea salt (which is actually a food). Perhaps PL from Naples Florida can benefit from staying away from the table salt (which I understand is very much the cause of High Blood Pressure!)."
RepliesTed from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Whenever dizziness is experience, it is often due to a couple of causes:'1. Low blood pressure 2. Weak form of septicemia (cavities can lead to that!) 3. Low Blood sugar
The ACV + baking soda remedy has an effect of lowering blood pressure generally speaking, but of course we are assuming the person has too much potassium, which can also lead to lower blood pressure the same. One example is eating too much fruits or eating too much sour food.
In any event a simple way of resolving the first one is to measure the blood pressure. If blood pressure is low, then ACV should be eliminated and just use the baking soda.
For the second condition, a high body temperature, with headaches, and perhaps cavities, or leaky gut can result in a weak septicemia (weak form of blood poisoning) can also lead to dizziness as the septicemia LEADS TO LOW BLOOD PRESSURE. Hence, a simple remedy to stop septicemia (doctor's are making things hard on themselves and antibiotics are useless here usually) by taking aspirin three times a day WELL DISSOLVED in 1/2 glass of water. Then, blood pressure should be normal within 30-45 minutes.
For the third condition, if taking some candies did help than a low blood sugar is indicated, yet, low blood pressure and low blood sugar can also indicate that. Certain dietary changes can lead to low blood pressure, such as not eating enough food during key time of the day where the body needs it the most. Hence a simple way to stabilize blood sugar, is supporting liver, such as one tablespoon of granulated lecithin a day. Once the liver has less fat buildup, it can supply or at least stabilize the blood sugar."

[SIDE EFFECTS] 09/21/2007: Sandhi from mailsandhi@yahoo.com writes: "... I want to point something about the Baking Soda remedy for increasing the alkalinity of body. Unfortunately, this remedy worked for me in the beginning, as I noticed improved digestion, but then I noticed I came down with a chronic case of Bacterial Vaginosis. A fishy odor coming from the vagina. I have heard, women who are on Birth Control Pill get BV. But I have never used BCPs. Further reading, I found out that Baking Soda, and for that matter most anta-acids can lead to the depletion of B-vitamins in the body. ( including Folic Acid & B12). And no wonder Folic Acid is recommended as a cure for BV.
I am taking Folic Acid ( 1 mg) and B-complex now, but the fishy odor is not gone completely! I am really stuck with this odor which I NEVER had before. So could it be, my folic acid levels are depleted and I am unable to get them to a healthy level. As of now, I am suspecting Baking Soda has done this to me. And I am abstaining from using it anymore. I would be interested to hear what other female users have to say about this."

BAKING SODA OR CARBICARB ALKALIZATION
Ratings:
|
[WARNING!] 08/14/2008: Dion from New York, New York writes: "Danger Baking Soda/ Carbicarb alkalization:
I have tried using baking soda 1/4 to 1/2 a teaspoon twice a day for about two months for alkalization. Needless to say, my urine ph moved to a comfortable range of 6.5 - 7.5, although my saliva ph reamined a stubborn 6. At times, the saliva ph seems to dip below 6. I am vegetarian with a diet leaning more towards acid forming foods.
I felt increasing insomnia and restless brain on the baking soda remedy, so I switched to carbicarb about three weeks ago. First few days on the carbicarb, I did feel calmness, but afterwards, it was the same as before - more insomnia and brain restlessness.
These effects really made me wonder if it is safe to take baking soda or carbicarb over any meaningful period of time. After all, both sodium bicarbonate and sodium carbonate are inorganic minerals, and aside from their occasional use, I wonder if prolonged use causes more harm to be body. I did read on the net that excessive ingestion of baking soda can lead to chloride ion deficiency (which is important for stomach acid).
This is just my experience. I would love to hear from other readers who may have experience with baking soda/carbicard over some period of time. Please note that I think it's ok to do baking soda/acv or baking soda/lime because then the baking soda gets complexed with the acv and lime, however, on the issue of ingesting baking soda or carbicarb alone, my experience has been unfavorable.
Many thx,
Dion"
RepliesEC: Yes, we seem to be getting quite a few reports of side effects from baking soda used in alkalization. Some people have used baking soda on and off for years, no problem. Others report gradual side effects like bacterial vaginosis, yeast infections, heart palpitations and sudden dizziness.
08/15/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To Dion & EC, I also had some insomnia from ACV & baking soda, but I believe that "yeast infection" is in the fungus family. If this is so, then the Italian's theory (Dr. Mercola website) that cancer is caused by fungi and killing the fungi with local injection of baking soda to get rid of the cancer, would make it highly unlikely that the complaint of yeast infection resulted from ingestion of ACV & BS. Maybe Ted could clarify this for us."

BATH REMEDIES THAT SHOULDN'T BE MIXED TOGETHER

|
[SIDE EFFECTS] 03/28/2008: Stella from Cleveland, Ohio writes: "Hi, there is a lot of information on this site of what combinations of ingredients work well together, however I don't see too much about what ingredients should Never be mixed together. A year or so back when my fibromyalgia had hit high gear I was plagued with symptoms of MCS as well as skin irritations, nothing I tried seemed to work. I did some research on the web and read about healing baths so I thought I would give it a try. I followed the recipe that I found but also decided to add my own things to it, by the time I was done I had everything in there but the kitchen sink. ( I was never a savvy chemist) ingredients of H202, ACV, Sea Salt, Epsom Salt, Baking Soda, Tea tree, Rosemary, Eucalyptus, Ginger, Vit. E All mixed together. The entire 30 minutes in the tub I had intense anxiety and when I got out I had a migraine from hell that lasted into the next day, I was also so lightheaded that I thought I might faint I figured my body was detoxifying but I am now wondering if all of these ingredients together caused a negative chemical reaction. I must say though, a few days later my fatigue and other issues improved & I felt better then I had in months. I still do take my Healing Baths and find much improvement though I use less ingredients. I am still not sure if my combinations are correct. I was wondering if you would consider having a page for Ingredients that should never be mixed together in a bath or otherwise. Thank You."

BETAINE HCL

[SIDE EFFECTS] 08/08/2011: Nicole from Sewell, Nj writes: "I have hypothyroidism and have had low iron for the past year despite being on iron pills for 8 months now. I tried a gluten free diet for a while to see if that was the reason I wasn't absorbing the iron but without success. After reading that people with thyroid problems have low stomach acid, I decided to try HCL supplements to see if this would help. I took my first one last night with a meal and had (still having) bad gas. I didn't see this listed as a side effect anywhere. I am also having a pain in my back on top of my rib cage but it doesn't feel like gas at all. I've had no burning or heartburn though. I don't want to stop taking these unless I really have to because this is the only other thing that might help my iron levels go up. Would I be able to take ACV with my pills instead? I'm not sure if that is as effective. Thanks in advance!"
Replies08/08/2011: Mmsg from Somewhere, Europe replies: "Nicole, by me iron pills never raised my iron levels either. Only when I started blackstrap molasses, did my iron levels go up to normal."

BLACK PEPPER
11/30/2011: Katie from Indianapolis, Indiana, Usa writes: "I know of someone who has an 11 yr old girl who lives with them and she requires this child to ingest 3 to 4 heaping teaspoons of ground black pepper each day, I am thinking that this cannot be healthy, but the individual says it is a home remedy for a constant cough ( child sounds like they have croup ) Any posts or ideas of what actions if any I should take toward the child in questions health. I have thought of calling Child Protective Services, but am unable to find ANY internet info on that amount of black pepper ingestation."
Replies11/30/2011: Elsaeasterly from Elsewhere, Ca, Usa replies: "Check out this link: http://www.drweil.com/drw/u/id/QAA400102"
11/30/2011: Laura from Queens, Ny replies: "Hi Katie: What kind of a person would do this to a child? I can barely tolerate a pinch of blackpepper without choking much less four teaspoons. Someone needs to help this child. Just my take."
11/30/2011: Karen from Southport, Ct replies: "3-4 teaspoons is absolutely excessive and sounds like torture to me. Only 1/16th teaspoon would be the maximum amount I'd use on a child. There are plenty of other inexpensive home remedies for children with coughs! Doesn't sound good."
12/01/2011: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "Hi Katie, There is a remedy using black pepper for dry coughs, I don't know anyone who has used it though. BUT it is not in that amount, it is "chew 2-3 black peppercorns" and I would think that it was for an adult. I did a search and found it as one of many things for dry cough on the following site: http://www.home-remedies-guide.com/cough.htmPlus even if you did the above you would think that it would be for a few days only. I would also think that it would surely cause more coughing for the child to be getting that amount. I believe no child should be made to take 3-4 teaspoons of pepper it also gives home remedies a bad name and yes it does make you wonder if there is more abuse going on. Have you asked where they got their info from, for this so called remedy, because they may be misinformed, but surely common sense should prevail. If they are doing it out of genuine ignorance then they would be open to other suggestions and to hearing that that is an excessive amout of pepper. All the best."

BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES
Ratings:
|
12/10/2011: Billie from Melbourne, Australia writes: "Hi everyone,
I'm hoping someone can help me figure out why I have started reacting to the blackstrap molasses. I read about it last year and started to take it in a glass of warm water with ACV and manuka honey, it was great for about 3-4 months, I felt fantastic I pulled out about 20 grey hairs that had colour at the root... Life was wonderful ;-)
Then I started to react to it, my knuckles on the left index finger first get inflamed then the right, then the next finger and so on till all the joints on my fingers are inflamed and burning then they become so bad they crack open and weep... I stopped taking it and they got better... I tried it again last week and within 2 days I has the allergy started on the left finger.
I don't eat vegemite either anymore as I have the same above reaction.. I tried it again 1 month ago just a tiny it on my bread... The next day I woke up itching my finger which had become inflamed..
I'm allergic to GLUTEN and LACTOSE and I haven't ingested anything containing these for 12 yrs now ( I got diagnosed at 22)... My symptoms for these started when I was 18, 3 years after I had my tonsils removed, previously I had lived on penicilon and antibiotics ( I feel like the poison in my body from the food I ate came out through my tonsils and then after they were removed they came out in other ways). the symptoms were the same on the fingers, but I also suffered from hives and boils on the face and neck, asthma, eczema on my eyelids..
Has anyone got any thoughts why I'm reacting to BSM now?
I would really love to be able to take it again.."
Replies12/11/2011: Dud from From The Woods Of, Wv, Usa replies: "Billie from Melbourne, Australia;Maybe you bought some new blackstrap molasses, and the new B.S.M. was grown with pesticides, which are now poisoning you.... try switching brands.... try to go organic, if you can find it."
12/12/2011: Jen from Bozeman, Mt, Us replies: "Hi Billie, It is possible that you are having symptoms of copper toxicity or less likely copper deficiency. If you are taking copper supplements or eating a lot of foods that contain copper (meats, nuts, seeds, eggs, poultry, and grains) then when you take the blackstrap molasses which contains about 26% of your daily intake of copper per two tablespoons then you may be getting too much. Some plumbing also may contain copper pipes which makes your water contain copper as well. If you cook with copper pans that will affect your copper intake too. If you go to this website it explains things a little clearer.http://www.drlwilson.com/Articles/copper_toxicity_syndrome.htm
Taken from the website:
1. Bones and connective tissue. Copper is required to fix calcium in the bones and to build and repair all connective tissue. This includes the tendons, ligaments, skin, hair, nails, arteries, veins and a few other tissues.
Imbalances can contribute to osteoporosis, bone spurs, and almost all conditions of the skin, hair and nails. Others symptoms related to connective tissue include most cardiovascular problems, tendon and ligament conditions, scoliosis, and other skeletal and structural imbalances as well.
-Imbalances can refer to copper deficiency or toxicity. You can look at the nutrients in Black Strap molassas and if you are taking additional supplements that contain the same nutrients then that is probably where your problem stems from. More is not always better especially when talking about vitamins and minerals.
Here is a site that has the nutrients in BSM.
http://www.whfoods.com/genpage.php?tname=nutrientprofile&dbid=85"
12/12/2011: Billie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "Thanks for your replies guys..
The one I've got is the melrose blue label organic one.. How do I find out about my copper levels? ask for a blood test?I'm taking a few supplements now and I just checked the only one with copper is a calcium/vit D one which has 1mg.. but I started this one a few months after I had the first signs..
Um...we have since moved house from the first signs.. But it also did it at this new house.. No copper pots.. No red meat... Mostly chicken and seafood..
I'm thinking im more likely to be copper deficient? I seem to be getting lots of new grey hairs recently..My iron levels are really low too..It's so bizarre... I want to take it again for the high iron and copper... My hair is falling out and going grey.. Mind you I have just had a baby so it's shedding normally from that... I wasn't pregnant at the time of taking it.. it was a few months before and after."
12/13/2011: Jen from Bozeman, Mt, Us replies: "Hi Billie, You can get your copper and other minerals tested best with a hair analysis. There are many websites you can go to that have great labs who will send you a kit, test it, and send you the results. It would be really good to get for you.I don't think copper deficiency would be causing the problems though you may very well be deficient but as the problem arose when you took the BSM then I think it has to be an overload of some kind. It could be iron too as iron affects the skin and joints at toxic levels. Some people have a rare metabolic disease that causes iron toxicity with minimal amounts of iron. A hair analysis will give you your iron levels too. Good luck. Black strap molassas is so good for you that I can understand why you are concerned about not being able to take it. I hope you find your answers."
12/13/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "It sounds like you may need magnesium supplemented. The molasses has twice as much calcium as magnesium (you need it to be the other way around). If you are calcium deficient, the body will pull calcium from your bones (which is what causes arthritis). Maybe that is the pain you are experiencing. If you supplement with extra magnesium I am sure you will find the pain goes away.Gray hair is caused by a copper deficiency."
12/13/2011: G from Anon, Ny replies: "Jen from Bozeman, Mt (or anyone else)... "blackstrap molasses which contains about 26% of your daily intake of copper per two tablespoons"... What brand(s) of blackstrap molasses has copper in it? I only found one with copper listed as an ingredient on the earthclinic list (8%)... Not available locally for me. Thanks in advance."
12/14/2011: Jen from Bozeman, Mt, Us replies: "Unfortunately most minerals are not listed as ingredients on any labels. Copper is in all organic black strap molasses. You will find that the only minerals that usually appear on food labels of any kind are iron, potassium(sometimes), sodium, and calcium. Copper isn't required to be listed. Sometimes you can google the brand you have and find copper listed as a nutrient, not an ingredient."
12/14/2011: Debbie from Melbourne, Australia replies: "I do not agree this is copper toxicity. Gray hair is a sign of copper deficiency. It sounds like a Google Joel Wallach who wrote the book "Rare Earths". He is also on youtube. He started out as a Vet and got into medicine because he realised animals got treated with minerals when sick and not humans. All we get offered is tablets. His book is very informative. Many people these days are copper deficient and that is why we are going gray earlier and earlier. An imbalance of calcium/magnesium will cause osteoporosis and arthritis/bone spurs. As a new mum the baby has probably taken a lot of calcium out of your body and that could be why you are having pain in your fingers. You need to take twice as much magnesium as calcium. Most foods have fortified calcium but no magnesium.
I had luck by drinking wheatgrass juice and my hair did start to return to go back to its natural colour. Also chlorella and spirulina are great to take. They are super foods and have the right nutrients in the proper ratios."
12/27/2011: Faith from Forest Park, Ohio replies: "Copper and ZINC have to be supplemented together... One pushes the other OUT of the body. Zinc is needed for stomach health, etc. , so if you were using a lot of copper, you could have developed a ZINC deficiency. COPPER is also HARD on the adrenals, and the adrenals are responsible for your immune system. This happened to me because I was already ZINC deficient when I started the BSM. In addition, BSM is high in potassium, and that can push more sodium out of the body, causing a sodium imbalance. The ADRENALS need lots of NATURAL sodium, you can get this from KELP."

BORAX

[SIDE EFFECTS] 02/07/2012: Jenny from Perth, Western Australia writes: "Hi there, well I'm on my 5th day of taking borax (one wet fingertip's worth in warm ACV and honey) as I'm desperately trying to get rid of the rheumatoid arthritis in my feet (I'm 43). Yesterday I noticed one eye was bloodshot, and today the other one is red and my face feels hot, like it's got sunburn. Any ideas? I'll give it one more day and if it gets any worse I'll stop taking it. It's made no difference to the arthritis or anything else btw."
Replies02/09/2012: Jennywren from Perth, Western Australia, Australia replies: "An update: all has calmed down now and I am taking a 3 day hiatus from the Borax. Will continue it in a 4 days on/3 days off routine and see if it makes any difference to the RA."

[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS] 11/21/2011: Aim75 from Kane, Pa writes: "Hi,
I have a weird side effect of trying Borax for my arthritis. First, I seem to have kidney pain when taking doses of 1/8 tsp and higher. This is nothing new, certain things do give my kidneys problems since I had a E-coli infection in my blood 12 years ago. So I've been taking a little spoon, and just dipping the wet tip of it in and swishing it in my water. Kidney problem solved. Here is the weird side effect... I get this strange headache that is located at the tip of my head... Not really a headache, just a strange pressure or ache at the very center tip of my head. I've had this pain before, years ago, when I was really stressed and it used to be pretty bad that it would affect my thinking. But that went away years ago, and now it seems the borax brings it on again ever so slightly. Anybody have any ideas what this means?"
Replies11/22/2011: Lily from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia replies: "Hi Aim75, all of these symptoms happened to me also and a few other Earth clinic folks. It goes away. Cheers Lily."

10/17/2011: Jason from Melb, Vic/aus writes: "I've been using the borax face solution and the 1/8 teaspoon and have noticed some positive results! However tonight I though I would get into a bath of borax (about 1 1/2 cups) tea tree oil / small amount of hydrogen peroxide all was good when I got out however a hours or two later sitting at my computer got a few rashes on my body, went to bed and it was all over my chest and back! Not sure if its the mites saying goodbye or a rash from the borax itself?
Note: My original problem was itchy bumps on my face (possibly acne rosacea) which has died down quite a bit, during the rash episode my face was completely clear? (i did dunk my face into bath water).
Any help appreciated."

[SIDE EFFECTS] 04/13/2011: Dave from Usa, Pa/usa writes: "Ted,
I would like your opinion on my reaction to borax I have taken borax as written about on your posts and have had a strong reaction on it. I was taking it for 4 days and felt a headache that moves from place to place with a bad taste in my mouth. Leading up to this dose I was sprinkling borax over coffee grounds of my coffee maker. I stopped taking it and started now for 2 days taking Idoral Potassium Iodine and the first day took two and had a stronger reaction and even felt vains of pressure on my face around my head (like a poison) sleeping all day and drinking plenty of water throughout this.
I feel much better now without stopping the Idoral suppliment. I only feel a pressure in my kidneys. Also I had strong feelings run through my body when I heard different sounds and is still there but minor now. I have had this reaction to sound for a number of months and is one of the reasons I am looking into causes. I suspect a fluoride/bromine build up but no tests have be taken and would like to figure this out on my own as much as possible. I have always thought I was much smarter than I am throughout my life. My memory isnt that great and have sensed a fog with me in some degree through childhood onward. I had odd stage fright as a child and onward but am a very confident person. I suspect that myself and family have been exposed to toxin in some form. My mother died of breast cancer when I was young, my sister has dystonia, and my dad has very bad brain fog and generally lost. I'm glad that I'm feeling better and plan on taking Iodine for some time for a long term detox if that is indeed what is happening. Also through my adult life I have had body parts fall asleep very easily during sleep and a certain sensation on the top of my legs. I can tune it out but I have had it for a very long time. Any thoughts you might have would be helpful. I see the world alot like you do.

I tried Borax internally because Nystation didn't get rid of it ( only partly it did). I used store brand Borax, 1/8 tsp in one liter of distilled water. The first day I experienced a nasty headache all day long and at the second day, my kidney started hurting. So I had to stop taking Borax and I'll never try it again. The pain persisted 5 day after I stopped taking it. It was really scary! I read Ted's comment stating that he uses the store brand Borax when he can't find pure grade Borax. I have read most of user comment and Ted's email before I decided to try Borax remedy. I would like to post my experience about using store brand Borax so that people can least expects what can happen."

[SIDE EFFECTS] 01/07/2008: Carrie from Longmont, Colorado writes: "Thank you Ted and Earthclinic for such wonderful information! I have a question for Ted: I started the Borax cure 8 days ago to treat fluoride poisoning and candida. I've been taking 1/8 tsp. Borax in 1 liter of purified water every other day. On day 4 I started manifesting flulike symptoms--extreme chest congestion (very, very thick mucous) and cough, extreme fatigue, all over body aches, mild fever. Today I'm still sick but I am slowly getting better. Would you classify this as a normal detox reaction or did I probably get a virus on top of detoxing?"

[SIDE EFFECTS] 11/11/2007: Gulay Ersoz from Los Angeles, CA writes: "I have been taking one cayenne pepper pill a day with warm lemonade in the mornings for the last 2 weeks or so. I experience slight heartburn like feeling but it was not a big problem. Two days ago, I took two pills instead of one, and it was no more than 3 minutes after I swallowed the pills, I had the extreme cramping in my stomach, became very dizzy, my left arm was hurting and I felt tingling on my fingers and legs... Not only the pain was extremely bad, my head was spinning, I was having hard time walking in my kitchen. I was hot, I just wanted to stop the cramping and managed to throw up. Took two Tums... With the hyper ventilation and dizziness, I laid in the bath tub and turned the cold water on, (I was so out of it and unable to control my reflexes, I couldn't even take my clothes off) it took about another 10-15 minutes before the pain went away, and I actually managed to get up and walk around... I called my doctor friend and she asked me if I experienced chest pain, I said no. Other than that I had all the symptoms of a heart attack. Went to see a doctor, and after the EKG, I was told that I had a bad reaction to cayenne pepper. It was not a joking matter for me, as I was home alone with my 3 year old sleeping in her bed, I had to have a reality check. How healthy is it to be trying to be healthy???"
Replies05/19/2008: Perry from San Antonio, TX replies: "As a counter to your expose on Cayanne and after effects, I have consumed three 100,000 units per capsule (cool) cayenne daily for three years with no adverse effects (for high blood pressure). So... works for me!"

CHROMIUM AND VANADIUM

[SIDE EFFECTS] 07/15/2011: Pre-diabetic from Uk writes: "I took some chromium and vanadium since I eat a lot of sweets. A side effect was I had to keep waking up in the night to urinate and was very thirsty. I just didn't feel right either. After I ate somethign and got moving around I was ok. Needless to say, I stopped the chromium and vanadium and the side effect stopped. I know diabetics can get increased urination and thirst. Why did taking these substances seem to bring on a diabetic symptom? Did I not drink enough water to flsuh toxins? Is this just a cleaning or better to stop?"
Replies07/17/2011: Djh from Austin, Tx replies: "perhaps it was because you are not deficient in these minerals and when you added them it was too much. it is also possible that they lowered your blood sugar (in addition to the spiking and lowering going on from eating sugar) and that after the sugar wore off (higher BG) the minerals kicked in and made your blood sugar too low - so your body made more glucose which raised your BG and so you were thirsty and had to pee a lot.i would stop taking them. I am a type 1 diabetic and also tried taking these (mostly chromium) and had increased hair fall and it did not help my blood sugar.
djh"
[SIDE EFFECTS] 08/04/2011: Candy from Ny, Ny replies: "omg this just happened to me too but I was taking a low dose of chromium only. In fact, each time I take the chromium I repeatedly wake up in the middle of the night and have to urinate and I feel so thirsty, weak, faintish, lethargy, clammy but once I eat something I feel much better. Interesting to read the responses here and see some of us sweet tooths may not need chromium and it might have lowered our blood sugar too much. I thought since some of the symptoms were similar to diabetes that maybe it was flushing me out and I was having a healing crisis but I felt soooooooo bad until I ate. DgH could call, I think you nailed it! If anyone has any other info, please post. Thank you all!"

08/02/2011: Sharon from Salt Lake City, Utah writes: "I have been on a health path for years and then I go off it and then I suffer and go back. I don't have a gall bladder and I think it has caused a multitude of problems, but we move on. I have chronic fatigue and I am told it basically a severe case of candida. I know it is a combination of immune response issues and I am determined to learn from it and get healthy.
I make my own kefir and love it so much. It is so healing and I love coconut oil, but I find my body immediately reacts, with heart palpitations, dizziness and my thyroid area feeling strange. I really want to be able to use it but the heart stuff scares me. Maybe I should just use it to cook with and on my skin. Because I don't have a gall bladder I have a hard time digesting fat. I hope someone can guide me with the best approach and or tell me of their similar experience."

[WORKED TEMPORARILY] 05/26/2011: Xania from Wichita, Ks writes: "I love coconut oil, but it does not love me - I was fine using it for about a month, frying my eggs in it, eating it straight off the spoon, making desserts and enjoying every minute of it. Then, all of a sudden, I started getting nausea and had to quit any and all consumption of the oil. I have not figured out the "Why" yet... Any ideas?
My skin was clear, the most clear it had ever been - and my eyes were bright - although, I am kinda curious about parasite die-off as I did spend time in a third-world country and ate street food, bought weekly groceries from an open market, this included meat, veggies and eggs - got montezuma's revenge more than several times during my stay - could it have been parasite die-off and if it was, how could I tell?"

[SIDE EFFECTS] 04/25/2011: Guzi from Austin, Tx writes: "I've been having some heart pains since like a month ago. Electro was fine and they just told me it was reflux even though I told them I didn't think so. (female, 32yo)
It was feeling better until today. I took 1 TBSP of coconut olive oil in my coffee, and boy, I almost fainted an hour later. My blood pressure went down that almost couldn't move. it was around 60. (normal 90).
Going back to the doctor, just don't know if this episode was related to taking coconut oil. Or if it is something else.
Thank you for your advice"
