SIDE EFFECTS

[SIDE EFFECTS]  12/14/2007: Linda from Concord, CA: "I began using VCO on doctor's orders to help combat hypothyroid. My skin, hair, energy levels were all positive results. I also used VCO as a deodorant. However, after a few days I began gaining weight, got dizzy spells and some diarrhea. My blood pressure soared! After continued trials for a couple of weeks, my doctor advised me to stop using it. This was disappointment as I got good results in other areas; however, every attempt made to try it again caused my BP to go higher. I do full body cleanses once or twice a year. Possibly it might help if I did just liver cleanse? I'm 60 years old, exercise daily, eat healthy foods, do drink 1.5 cups coffee in morning and am Blood Type A. Disappointed as not being able to use coconut oil due to HBP. Would appreciate any comments on my HBP problem to be answered on this site. Any insight would be beneficial. Thanks, a CA gal"

09/26/2009: Dean from Ncr, Philippines replies: "1-1.5 liters of natural tea (single bag/4-5 pcs fresh leaves) might help. I've been taking VCO for 4 years now with no side effect. I take 5-7.5ml each day and has given me healthy hair, skin & digestive system. My BP has been steady at 130/80 and I'm 42yo. However, I am not limiting myself with VCO. I still stick to my high fiber diet mostly from legumes which is plentiful in my location and my daily 1.5 liter dose of natural green tea in the evening (blumea balsamifera leaves-fresh or bagged), also, I still take my multi-vitamins every day. I suggest you explore other natural products that may counter the side effects of VCO in your body and enjoy its good effects."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  11/07/2007: Shane (McManus) from Sunbury, Victoria/Australia: "I've had mixed results taking coconut oil. It cleared my eczema and improved my skin but have been light headed and dizzy after 2 weeks of taking it. Also my hayfever has come back where i was fine before. A herxheimer reaction should have settled after 2 weeks. I'm wondering if others who have had reactions are Blood group O, as according to the blood group diet coconut oil does not agree with type O blood."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  09/27/2007: Jess from London, England: "the many times I tried massaging my head with coconut oil, if I leave it on for too long on my head, I end up with a fever. After many years of not using it, I used it a few days ago. Left it on for many hrs and the next day, I had the worst flu and still am feeling very lethargic, weak."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  09/23/2007: John from Virginia Beach, Virginia: "it has now been over two weeks since i started taking VCO, i had stomach pains and diarrhea at first but the pains have subsided. I havent experienced any weight loss but i havent gained any weight either. It does give me a little bit of energy."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  09/21/2007: Dee from Mineral Wells, TX: "I have recently taken CO Butter because of the great taste and then taken the VCO later for about for about 4 days, my autistic son was prescribed Caprylic Acid for yeast and bacteria overgrowth, so thought I'd give it a try, although I have had a wonderful decrease in cravings for sweets and an increase in energy it is totally overkill, Not only did I have more energy but TOOO much, I've stopped taking it due to this, I took approximately 1 to 2 tablespoons daily and can't sleep, 2am rolls around and here I am, awake, and the most bothersome thing is now my feet and lower legs are cramping soo much I cants sleep!!! I'm tired but am revved up like the energizer bunny, how long will this last and what can be done about the feet?? Help Me!!!"

09/24/2007: Dee replies: "Hope this helps, Caprylic Acid is Coconut Oil, anyway I did not take Caprilic Acid, I took VCO. Still have insommnia and cramping legs and feet at night, will this wear off anytime soon, its been about 7 days. Im starting to feel tired at night but still cant manage to sleep until 1 or 2 am. Thanks."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  09/12/2007: John from Virginia Beach, Virginia: "vco [virgin coconut oil] has been giving me bad stomach pains and diarrhea. I've only been taking it for several days now but i'm hoping these side effects subside in the near future..."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  03/21/2007: Sheena from Belize, Belize: "I first tried coconut oil to combat the symptoms of hypothyroidism 2 weeks ago.By the first day, I had fantastic energy and felt like I've never felt before! One week ago however, I started having heart palpitations, high blood pressure and tachycardia (rapid heart rate), even at rest, that landed me in the ER. I had never had these problems before and I am wondering if the oil boosted my metabolism so much that it is causing these symptoms. Is there anyone else that has experienced this? I feel great otherwise, but my unbelieving doctor has told me to stop taking the oil and put me on antihypertensive meds. I was taking a tablespoon with every meal. Was this too much? Can somebody please help me?"

05/18/2008: Lori Hale from Nascar City, Tennessee replies: "I think you were taking too much coconut oil, I take it and I only take 2 tablespoons a day only. I find that it is very good in oatmeal with raw sugar. Hope this helps. Lori."
09/26/2009: Dean from Ncr, Philippines replies: "You'll be tied to hyper-meds for life if you start taking those. Take your VCO every other day & add green tea to your daily diet (1-1.5liters as part of the required 6-8 glasses of water each day. You may add crushed celery in your tea. It adds flavor and helps in lowering BP . VCO does improve metabolism & energy. Stay active and use that extra energy. And try rich-fiber diet. I hope this helps."
09/27/2009: Carolyn from Hobbs, Nm Usa replies: "Dean, what is VCO? What kind of tea is balsamifera leaves? Thanks, Carolyn"

Colon Hydrotherapy

SIDE EFFECT

[SIDE EFFECTS]  01/20/2012: Bp In La from Los Angeles, California, United States: "Recently, I did a clay colon cleanse that recommended a follow-up colon hydrotherapy session. Toward the end of the hydrotherapy session, I had intense pain in my upper left abdominal area, as if there was a blockage of some kind, and once the clay was past that area the pain subsided.

I want to know if anyone has had the same experience during a hydrotherapy session and what it might be and what can be done? I have not had any professional diagnosis. I am thinking it may be either some kind of polyp, parasite or tumor. Thank you."

Copper

SIDE EFFECT

[SIDE EFFECTS]  07/12/2011: Nauseous from Ocean, Usa: "I took 2 mg copper supplement to reverse grey hair and I feel nauseous. Google search said its a sign of too much copper or lack or zinc so too much copper or body can't handle copper because of some disorder like Wilson's Disease. What can I do to get copper to turn hair color back but not get sick? I didn't realize too much copper can hurt the liver. I didn't take much so maybe I need zinc then I can take the copper again? Its some good brand chelated copper. If my sick is not due to a zinc deficiency can I make liver stronger somehow? I must have copper deficiency because of all grey hair."

07/12/2011: Catherine from Wellington, New Zealand replies: "Check your B Vitamins.. Grey hair can be brought on by stress which depletes B viamins. Poor intestinal health and incomplete nutrient absorption all contribute to hair health. You could try a course of unsulphured Black Strap Molasses as it is a better balanced and natural selection of minerals for hair. Many people have success with this. Have a look at the testimonies here on Earth Clinic for Black Strap Molasses. I wouldn't embark on single mineral supplementation without a good deal of research. Best of luck"

Cream of Tartar

SIDE EFFECTS

[SIDE EFFECTS]  08/15/2012: Ana from Anonymous: "I had a non-healing boil and started taking 1/4 tsp of powdered turmeric in a glass of water a couple of times a day for a couple of days. I have taken turmeric in the past without a problem. Today I tried cream of tartar instead (same dosing). After the second dose, eight hours apart, my stomach grumbled and I had bad racing heart, anxiety, and had runny stools. I think it was the cream of tartar and I was surprised because I didn't think it had much side effects (but I know things can affect people differently). I heard it is an "acid salt" and wonder if it is because I am a little sodium sensitive. The racing heart happens if I take baking soda alone too but is fine if I take it with apple cider vinegar or lemon/lime juice, maybe because the natural potassium balances the salt out? Anyways high anxiety is an uncomfortable feeling."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  08/15/2012: Ana from Anon: "I was able to find some info on cream of tartar side effects. I was reading an old Ted post that said autistic and people high in candida already have high levels of tartaric acid and this can cause side effects. He recommended other forms of potassium. He said something about malic acid (apple cider vinegar) can be a kind of antidote to the side effects. Those high in tartaric may be low in malates.

I also read him in an old post of his that some people who are high in nitrates might have trouble taking higher doses of potassium. Ted said to stop eating processed meats, like processed meats (delimeats, hotdogs, etc) and that magnesium chloride or hydrochloric acid supplements may help.

I saw high nitrates in animals they treated them with intravenous injections of methylene blue

[BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS]  04/28/2012: Rk from London, Uk: "I used DMSO 1 tablespoon per day and after day 2 or 3, I believe that I was getting a rapid pulse (heartbeat for 4-6 hours) and also some stomach pain and an irritated bowel.

Is this normal, did others get this? I used the DMSO treatment for a skin condition (SC). It worked very very well.

I found that 1/2 teaspoon (large teaspoon) or 1 teaspoon per day were effective dosages. Any answers please?"

Epsom Salts

WARNING!

[WARNING!]  02/21/2011: John H from Croxley Green, Hertfordshire, Uk: "Hi I have been trying out an Epsom Salt remedy for my wifes bladder pain and carpal tunnel with some success. The dose was a quarter of a teaspoon of Epsom Salts 3 times a day plus using a 20% mix with water as a body spray. The method was working, however my wife started getting progressively worse hot flushes(up to every half hour), night sweats and headaches after a week. We have had to stop this treatment and all symptoms caused have gone in 4 days. I believe it was the sulphur content causing this problem (I wonder if MSM would be the same). I have sent off for some magnesium chloride and will try that as I believe this remedy was working well.

Thanks:)"

02/22/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "We don't have Epsom salts here but I use magnesium chloride (Nigari) in my bath once in a while. I am in the menopause now (I suppose your wife is as well) but it hasn't given me any hot flushes.... Still everybody is different, some women have a lot, so far I only have a little bit which is quite nice as the winter here has been very cold! On the other hand I have heavy back pain and that is the reason why I have been trying MSM and magnesium chloride in my bath but so far nothing has helped! "

Flaxseed Oil

07/19/2011: Kathie from Houston, Tx/usa: "My 7 year old son has developed a small lump in one of his breasts and pubic hair on his testicles. He is thin and does not eat soy and eats organic meat and chicken. However he loves flax seed crackers and takes a flax oil supplement along with fish oil, co Q10 and a multi. (he has low level autisim and a ventriculir septil (sp??) deviation (a small hole in his heart).

As I have gotten closer to menopause, I have read that Flax oil is helpful to women wanting to balance their hormones. Could the flax oil be causing early puberty in my son? Any ideas on how to slow this down??? I have taken him off all flax!"

Replies
02/03/2012: Kathie from Houston, Tx / Usa replies: "I wanted to update my son's situation since I have taken him off of the flax oil and seeds. His breast is much smaller now and he has not grown any more pubic hair. I have also noticed that he does not have emotional outbursts like he used to have.

By the way, I think this post (along with the first post) should be posted under early puberty."
