DEPENDENCY AN ISSUE?

11/29/2006: Suzie writes: "An employee at local health food store (Mothers Market) told me not to take Psyllium everyday... She said you can become dependent on it... Is this true? And if so, how often is not to often? Thank you, it does the trick!"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Suzie: Not too often means you take it when you need it. But in the long term, you are not solving the cause. The cause of constipation is excess acidity. Just take baking soda 1/4 teaspoon to 1/2 glass of water 2 times a day once in the evening and once in the morning. This is a longer term solution. And it is best that you take it just 5 days out of the week to reduce excess acidity. It is necessary to refrain from eating acid forming food, usually found in drinks, such as coke, or sweet drinks. The other is white bread."
