[YEA] 08/02/2006: Joan from West Los Angeles, CA: "I have been pulling now for about 3 weeks. My teeth look a tiny bit whiter, but the main thing is that my sinuses seem to open up in the morning after pulling. My tongue is definitely more pink than its ever been and I don't have quite as intense dark circles under my eyes! This practice is definitely energizing and I think my metabolism is speeding up -- I have lost about 2 lbs eating the same way I always do.
I felt very fatigued the first 2 days after pulling with Sunflower Oil, but after that, haven't felt any side effects. I have terrible cracked heels, but so far haven't noticed much change. I think it would take them at least 2 months to heal. At any rate, I love this new practice and don't have any plans to stop."
12/30/2010: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand: "My response to an email regarding oil pulling:
Oil pulling depend on your objectives. The old oil pulling objective is to kill microorganisms. This is why they do 20 minutes using sunflower oil or sesame seed oil. As for me, oil pulling is done for 5 minutes using mostly olive oil or coconut oil with two objectives that I found resolves nearly all problems regarding the use of sesame seed oil and sunflower oil. The major problems appear that most people have heavy metal overload such as mercury. To do too long the oil pulling may cause excessive buildup of mercury and may go into your system if done for 20 minutes. Since I have a heavy metal tester I found oils uptake heavy metal very quickly in as little as 1 minute and need not do over 5 minutes limit. The second problem is virus and sore throat becomes a real problem with use of sesame or sunflower. The only oil pulling I have found without side effects come from olive oil and coconut oil. Coconut oil is antiviral and olive oil is somewhat antiviral, and both oils remove heavy metal form saliva being recirculated back to the body. The best way to remove bacteria is the use of toothpaste and simple brushing but to rid body of heavy metals oil pulling stands out. The use of coconut oil especially is antiviral and I used them against Pakinsons, Alzheimer, and ALS as I found personally are linked to virus. Alzheimer's is the HSV1 herpes simplex type 1 and ALS is linked to adenovirus while Parkinsons is linked to a flu virus, and coconut oil contains lauric which is antiviral, while olive oil is a efficient in removing heavy metal. OP in cats is difficult the easiest is to let cats consume coconut oil and salmon fish oil mixed in food or granulated lecithin also helps. Eating sulfur rich foods (garlic) and supplements helps especially taking 500 mg a day of N acetyl cysteine.
12/31/2010: Hope from Sacramento, California replies: "Hi Ted - Thanks for this very valuable information -You're the Best! "
01/03/2011: Suzanne from Land O Lakes , Fl replies: "Ted-Thank you so much for your valuable information, you have helped countless of lives throughout the world! Just to clarify, are you now suggesting we OPer's should now only use either Coconut Oil or Olive Oil for 5 minutes and we will get the same benefits but with less chance of heavy metals being reintroduced into the bloodstream. If so that would be great, if I can do it in less time the better!"
01/09/2011: Fbk227 from Greenlawn, Ny, Usa replies: "Dear Ted,
Thank you for all this valuable information! I am 53 years old (young! ) and have just found this website to be invaluable. A question about OP, I just started last week with EVOO and noticed that I am breaking out all over my face, especially on my forehead. Is this a normal effect of the OP? I want to try so many things, but I think I am going to try and do only a few things at a time. I am taking an energy green powder in the morning on an empty stomach mixed with liquid vitamin d3, 2 tbs of chorophyll and a dropperful of guarnine. I don't want to overdue it. I am also taking 2tbs of organic ACV on a daily basis. My main objectives are to lose weight, get relief from RA, better eyesight, hair loss and a general feeling of lethargy. My skin is super dry and no matter how much creams or lotion I apply, it doesn't help. I tried taking coconut oil, but I couldn't stomach it. Would coconut oil tablets have the same benefits? I'm not asking for too much am I? LOL!"
02/17/2011: Ali from Swansea, Wales, Uk replies: "Hi. The breakout is undoubtedly a detox thing - the skin is a major detoxing organ and the oil-pulling probably triggered your body into having a clear out.
I too am 53 and it has taken me all these years to finally get a handle on my health. I have tried all sorts of diets and treatments but none of them worked until I found a healing diet run by Bee Wilder. I have been on it for 10 months now and although it doesn't give overnight results, I, and a lot of other people are gradually heaing, and it is wonderful. Her advice is free and her diet is based wholly on natural foods including coconut oil and real sea salt, and a few basic over-the-counter supplements.
Things like oil-pulling and acupuncture, etc. , can be used to support the benefits of the diet.
I have had Candida for over 40 years, and it is only now that I am finally getting rid of it and seeing many things healing in my body. It's wonderful."
02/19/2011: Aginto from Toronto, On replies: "Fbk227 - try taking nightly soaks in a tub filled with very warm water, 1 lb of baking soda (that's usually 1 pkg), and 2 cups of Epsom salts. That should help your skin along in the detox process. Soak for at least 20 minutes, and DONT RINSE before getting out. Mooisturize your wet body with an organic oil, pat dry, and put on your jammies. You will sleep like a baby and your skin will clear up!"
06/15/2011: Vreed27 from Edmonds, Wa replies: "@ Fbk227 I have found that it is a good idea to detoxify the skin by sitting in a hot bath (as hot as you can stand for 20 minutes) so that your skin can detox by sweating. Then a quick rinse off to remove the sweat/toxins from your skin should help the skin to clear up. (This also works by sitting in a hot sauna for the required 20 minutes with a quick rinse off after the sweating occurs."
08/16/2011: Jenjen from La, Ca replies: "OK..... This is great!! I am giving it a shot as we speak as I am generally healthy (with the exception of fatigue.... Due to STRESS) I recently got a bug bite which turned into some sort of infection that either is still lingering or just side affects from antibiotics..... Well my TOUNGE turned brownish yellow, then white and just doesnt seem to want to completely go away!!! I believe it is due to all the antibiotics? It has been lingering for almost a MONTH now..... Anyway wanted to add an FYI and see if any of you know about this..... Blood type and remedies..... Says in a book I have that OLIVE oil is great for my blood type, but Coconut oil is something to avoid..... So maybe the results you get from OP could be related to what oil you are using..... Depending on your blood type!! Any thoughts or experience?"
09/14/2011: Ruth from Uk replies: "Dear Ted,
You said 'virus and sore throat becomes a real problem with use of sesame/sunflower oil'. I have been using sunflower oil for 20 minutes a day for about 3 weeks and I've noticed extreme dryness in my mouth, my cheeks sticking to teeth etc. Although I'm drinking regularly and about 2 litres a day. I've never had this before and am convinced it's the sunflower oil. Why is this? Is it linked to your quote about a virus? Would you recommend I switch to using olive oil or coconut oil for 5 minutes instead, and does this give you all the benefits but none of the risks of re-absorbing metals? Many thanks!"
09/18/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "@Ruth from Uk--Yes sunflower produces these side effects (infection and sore throats). The preferred oils are coconut oil, because lauric acid is antiviral in coconut oil, which makes ideal for oil pulling because it doesn't cause this. Olive oil is the same (especially extra virgin) olive oil as it contains antiviral oleuropin. That's the weakness of sunflower oil. All oils work the same in detoxing heavy metals out, but you need coconut oil and olive oil as they have additional antibiotic qualities, that sunflower oil and sesame seed miss. And the most common complaints are about sunflower oil and sesame seed, people having dry mouth, and other problems, that olive oil and coconut oil works better.
09/22/2011: Louise from Bayside, Ny replies: "Oil pulling: I added one drop of tea tree oil to the sesame oil, and the white coating on my tongue was completely gone in 3 treatments."
05/14/2012: Tiale from Pago Pago, American Samoa replies: "I'm curious, since the oil pulls out heavy metals, does that mean that it's a bad idea to do oil pulling if you have mercury fillings? Would the oil help bring mercury out of the fillings to be more easily absorbed in the mouth?"
07/03/2012: Justme from Tulsa, Ok replies: "I have a question.... I have 3 broken back (molars, and sections of my teeth are missing) teeth, will Oil Pulling, with any kind of oil, make my mercury fillings fall out? In a perfect world I would love to have them replaced with the new non-mercury fillings because I don't like the thought of the mercury seeping into my system. But as I cannot afford to have them replaced I need to be able to keep them until I can replace them. I am also taking St John's Wort, Vitamin C, Kelp and am currently taking an iron supplement because I was anemic, will these interfere with the OP. Plus I really need to lose weight. I also have a friend who is having a terrible time with abscesses and broken front teeth due to a recent car accident, will Oil Puling help her with the abscesses? The doctors keep giving her antibiotics, I keep telling her she is becoming immune to them."

[YEA] 10/12/2010: Ll from Odessa, Tx: "I have had an abcessed tooth for about two weeks now. I tried several of the cures on this site, and they all seemed to help a little. I decided finally to try the oil pulling this morning with sesame oil, after reading some of the theories here, I know they are basically sound, having studied pharmacy. I learned there that your mouth is easily one of the most bacteria-laden parts of your body. The stomach lining is porous, which is why alcohol is so quickly absorbed by the body: it simply goes straight through the stomach lining into the blood stream and throughout the body. If this is true of alcohol--which is a poison if not used in moderation--then it can easily be true of pretty much anything that goes into the stomach. And, of course, we swallow some saliva with everything we chew, so if there are bacteria hanging out in it, it could easily pass through the stomach lining and out into the blood stream, where it will swiftly be carried to the rest of the body. And--boom! --you have all the makings of a systemic infection (systemic is just pharmacy talk for anything affecting the whole body). Knowing from my studies and my own experience how great vitamin e is for so many things--you could call it a systemic vitamin, since it affects pretty much every part of the body when ingested--I thought, "What would happen if I added e oil to the sesame oil pull?"
(Honestly, you folks are all so obviously knowledgeable I was surprised to see no one had thought of it yet. This is some site, and I am impressed with a great deal of what I am reading! )
I used the one Tbls of sesame oil and added one capsule of 100 units vitamin e oil. Oh my God, that felt good on my gums! The longer I used it, the better my gums felt, until I had no pain at all by the end of the pull. I did have some pain coming back after, but I rinsed my mouth with some ACV and water (the baking soda I brushed with still had not got all the oil out of my mouth) and that cut the remaining oil and soothed my mouth enough that a little pain medication allowed me to sleep. I woke up a few hours later to find the swelling was significantly reduced. Will continue the oil pulls tomorrow--I think I will up the amount of vitamin e. I'd also be interested to know how it works for anyone else who decides to try it? Thanks guys: this site is great!"Replies

[YEA] 09/13/2007: Peggy from Ancorage, Alaska: "I have been doing oil pulling for about one month and using cold pressed walnut oil. I went into the dentist for my semi annual cleaning and an exam. both the hygenist and the dentist commmented on how healthy my gums have become. My dentist said "whatever your doing it is working" In the past I have had a problem with bleeding gums--that is GONE."Replies
01/14/2010: Laverne from Honolulu, Hi replies: "I tried walnut oil and it was pleasant enough (I thought the oil was going to be gross). I only used 2 tsp but could feel the difference in the mouth after I finished. My mouth felt clean and fresh and I couldn't wait to do it again. And 15 minutes goes by fast when I'm on the computer doing my OP business. I like this thing."
[YEA] 04/11/2010: Laverne from Honolulu, Hi replies: "Just wanted to write on the progress with oil pulling. Started with walnut oil and within two days the black floaters in my eye disappeared! I had just visited my opthamologist who said it was just old age and nothing could be done about it. I can't wait to tell her about my OP experience. Skin problems also have nearly disappeared."
04/13/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Hi, I would love to try oil pulling with walnut oil as well as I also suffer from eye floaters but I fear for one of my dental filling which doesn't seem to resist at least sunflower oil. Do you have any fillings?"
04/18/2010: Laverne from Honolulu, Hi replies: "I had my amalgam fillings taken out 3 years ago so that has not been a worry for me."
