When you have a question about something try google for it as in "sodium carbonate." You will get a large number of hits with some from Wikipedia. You can then read them for the answer that fits your situation. The Internet is an incredible source of good, and bad you have to decide, information."

05/18/2008: Maureen from Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada writes: "Re: New Website! I am experiementing here on the problem of responding to an e-mail. I could not find my previous response that you replied to on the website so I copied and pasted an e-mail I submitted another time. To get around the problem of not knowing what e-mail someone is responding to, could a message be put somewhere appropriate to tell people to "cut & paste" the original message that they are responding to? It would solve the problem of not knowing which e-mail someone is referring to! I believe most people would not have a problem with cut & paste. I could not change the subject heading which I understand. Maureen

03/23/2008: Maureen from Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada writes: "An 89 year old family member was suffering from constipation and felt miserable. He did not own a juicer so I decided to try something. I bought a jar of unsweetened applesauce and the same size can of pear halves in water. I blended the pear halves with a tiny bit of water and mixed them with the applesauce. We both had a small bowl of the very tasty apple pear sauce. The next morning I had a very good bowl movement as I usually do but there was a difference. I phoned the family member and asked if he had relief. He did not. He said he had a pain in his stomach and felt awful. Later on around noon he got the sudden urge to go to the bathroom and emptied out completely. He did not quite make it to the bathroom which caused a problem but he felt like a million dollars as he said after he emptied out. Because of how it affected him, we waited one week then we agreed for him to take two tablespoons a day to keep him regular. Another family member decided to try the apple pear sauce because she was having side effects of constipation from medication she started taking. It took 2-3 days for it to work for her but it did a great job when it kicked in. Do not delay when you get the urge to go to the bathroom or even an inkling to "go" :)

EC: Thanks for your feedback, Maureen! Let me ask our programmer what we can do about this since it seems to be an ongoing issue for people. Every post on the Latest Posts page has a link that takes you directly to the first post and all of the child posts beneath it, so that's supposed to solve this issue.

P.S. Sorry for your missing email. Was it another constipation remedy?

The site seems cluttered, I used to search and find anything I needed, now, comments are everywhere. I love the comments, yet, I would like to find original formulas without wading through so much info."

EC: Thanks for your feedback. Which formulas are you looking for in particular? We were hoping information was easier to find on the new database, not harder! If you let us know which pages in particular, we can design the layout differently or perhaps add the formulas to the introduction section of each page.

This feedback is very important to us, please keep it coming!

Everything is much harder to read and follow. Can you go back to the old format and more specifically, have a specific page for Ted, and one for Joyce. Thank you."

EC: Thanks for your critique. We cannot go back to the old site but we can go forward and improve upon the programming and layout of the new site. This is a difficult stage and we appreciate everyone's patience as we tweak things day by day. We do indeed have specific pages for Ted's posts... called QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS, also TED'S REMEDIES. What we can do is have the QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS tab at the top of the menu rather than at the bottom. We can also create topics called Ted's Remedies and Joyce's Remedies that go just below the Questions and Answers. We would like to get more input from our regular readers first before implementing these changes.

EC: Thanks for your feedback.
1. All new questions can be sent very simply through the form on the contact us page (or emailed directly to Ted in Bangkok (parhat@yahoo.com).
2. We will start designing a formula/recipe section to go at the top of every page. This has been a frequent request as of late, so we're on it!

05/11/2008: Jessica from Port Charlotte, FL writes: "As I was looking through the comment sections such as that of the natural shampoo suggestions I noticed that some refer to comments made by Ted. However, I cannot find those comments. So my question is where are the comments from Ted? It seems as though the new site has reduced the volume of comments and I wish that I could read more on the subject matter. Thank you."

EC: All of Ted's comments are either posted under the title called "TED'S REMEDIES", or on the "QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS" page for every ailment. You can find the Q&A link at the bottom of the menu navigation bar.

We have not reduced Ted's comments. In fact, we have added about 400 more of his emails since adding designing the new database! We still have another 400 to go before catching up.

05/11/2008: Maureen from Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada writes: "What I prefer about the old website is that when a person responds to a post, you get to see what the original person wrote and it is much easier to follow. With the new version I cannot tell what the writer is referring to! Maureen"

EC: We did ask our programmers to design the latest posts page to include the "Parent Posts". The programming was very tricky on this page in particular and they weren't able to do it (yet). However, if you click on any subject link, it will take you directly to page with the original post and all the "child posts" beneath it.

Now you can see why on the old site it took a lot of time to find, then copy and paste all the information to the Latest Posts page! Most of the day was spent doing this...

EC: Sorry about that. We have no remedies page for Cod Liver Oil, but there is mention of it on the Omega-3 page.

I love you all so much and I want to hang around God willing,I did not mean to offend anyone using caps,I just like to proof read because I know I make typos and do not want to appear illerate lol I have worn glasses since I was 7, I used to get bad migranes as a child til I got glasses.Now inching close to 60 my eyes are getting bad so I need new glasses.My daughter is going to take some pictures for me and I will forward to Ted. When I took a shower last night I can feel something raised about 1 foot long and 5 inches wide, just a red patch,my daughter said it was red not bright red and raised,This does not itch like when I got bit in the beginning.The scars are horrible, they are not pus filled I still see in my inner thigh hundreds of red dots but they come and go,again they are red dots they open and look like an ulcer, sometimes you see a little clear fluid but not much, they scab and it takes forever to heal,eraser size to dime size, one on my shoulder just split open and skin grew over the split, that never scabbed and it does look similar to cigarette burns.I give up naming it til I know what it is. I also have sommething that looks like scratches, I hope the camera will pick it up. it looks like it is 8 inches long you can tell it is inside like something very small has made a line going down my thigh and it is the color of my skin not red.I had nice skin the way I can explain it is that it looks like I had a surgery there and it left a hairline mark like 1 strand very thin , strange.I hope soon I will know because I have not seen my grandkids since the end of July.I am stumped as to what this is I clean with clorox,I keep rubbing alcohol with me for my hands my children thought it was funny me opening public doors with a paper towel and not wanting to touch salt and pepper shakers in restaurants the list is endless and wouldn't you know, I would be the one to get something.I knew of staph because my sister got it in the nursery and had 1 outbreak in her life besides that one,so I guess she always had it, I also have seen much worse then this house doing street ministry.It figures I would be the one who is clean and have always been aware of the hungreds of germs we can not see,let alone ones we can see.One thing which may not matter but in the attic they sprayed what looks like a thousand year dust build up they call insulation and I have never seen anything like that, Clumps of dark grey,like the insides of how real old matresses were made of,like stuffing of somekind. When I dust it is massive fallout like soot would come down if there was a fire.The county wants me to call and get an air sample done.When my daughter comes she will help me with the pictures and to get them to Ted. I just know in my heart God will bless you for taking care of His children the way you do here.I want to make a list so that I will always have it on hand as a reference.Also, my hair is falling out a little and my kids said my eyelashes that were black look blonde and I did not peroxide them no facial sores,only thing making them close is hydrogen peroxide,they bubble a little and then get smaller then the ulcer closes. Things do not look so good in the world today and we will all need the information here and each other,I feel like this is a family here on EC.The rest we walk by faith and pray for each other. You will no longer see a Yes/No option to display your email address on the registration form or on the Give Feedback/Contact Us form of EC.

NEW FORUM...

Several contributors have been asking for a forum lately (thanks T and Carolyn!) so they can more easily communicate with the EC community while keeping email addresses private. We are now researching forum software and also how a forum would integrate into the existing setup of Earth Clinic. We definitely don't want to lose the YEA/NAY ratings sytem which has made this site so unique, so the forum will be an additional element.

If you have any ideas or visions about adding a forum to EC, please let us know! Or if you have a forum that you absolutely love and would us to check out for ideas, please send the url along.

The Yes/Nay system is not only unique but we can always be sure that the postings are filtered by EC and we don't have to go through a whole lots of non productive chatting (or junks) to get to bottom of the issue. Maybe EC can have a "Private Message" function, registered members can send private messages to each other they can then exchange their email addresses through that."

However, the private message function rather defeats the purpose of the site as others do not get the benefit of the things learned by individuals searching for cures (or, at least, relief). Has anyone had a bad experience from putting their email addresses on this site?

EC: Yes! Last month a spammer rounded up all the visible email addresses on Earth Clinic and started sending out daily messages to members that they had seen their "profile" on Earth Clinic and wanted to get to know them. A bunch of people then asked to have their email addresses removed from the site when they started to receive spam emails, which wasn't an issue. Getting Google to remove email addresses from its search results quickly has been an issue!

10/22/2009: Dianna from Citrus Heights, Ca replies: "I would like to request that there be a section where you list dosage recommendations for the many cures you list, how to take it, possible side effects and contraindications in certain groups of folks, as well as where you might find the products you recommend...all of this separate from the feedback responses. I see many folks write in with different ways and dosages of taking apple cider vinegar and/or hydrogen peroxide, for instance, which is confusing to someone like myself who wants to try some of these cures. Ted recommends taking baking soda with the cider vinegar to alkalize the body but many people use ACV without the baking soda. Wouldn't taking it without the baking soda adversely affect someone like myself who has Crohn's disease, GERD and diverticulosis? Wouldn't taking the ACV without baking soda mean that you are not alkalizing the body?

There are also many, many questions being asked but rarely answered. Will those be answered in time by Ted or EC? I'm very interested in some of these questions as they are often questions I would like to ask but I don't want to be repetitive if they are asked and awaiting an answer.

I absolutely love your site and have been recommending it to everyone (and I mean EVERYONE!) I talk to. I've bought many of the products recommended but am reluctant to start using some of them until I have better clarification of the how to's and what not to do. Thanks for the opportunity to suggest recommendations!"

At this point, I feel I need to say this publicly as I believe you are extremely aggresive in some of your posts and offensive as well. I hesitated at first since you have not addressed me pointedly but now I feel you must really read some of your posts. As for the "Church" thing- that is your own projection. I for one, stand alone in my research and choices and have made some pretty strong decisions all based on my own research-not from someone dictating to me. I understand you being adamant about everyone really researching before they make a decision but you cannot control that. There is much information here and I believe that each person has a responsibility in their personal choices. Please understand that much of your information is good but you need to stop with the accusations and finger pointing. As for Ted and Joyce, they wish to only help others from all that I have read on here and I am on here everyday learning and trying to help others as well. I don't agree with everything on here but there is so much wonderful info that I have benefited from as well as many others. Please chill out."

EC: Found 2 posts on EC with visible email addresses... removed!

[WARNING!]  09/17/2009: Deirdre from Earth Clinic writes: "One of Earth Clinic's newly registered members sent us an email today complaining about the crazy amount of spam he has been receiving and wondering what was going on. I did a search and discovered that he had elected to post his full email address on one post (only one!) and this was likely causing the issue.

The reason I have a spam filter called SpamArrest on the email address visible to the public on Earth Clinic, deirdre@earthclinic.com, is because I literally receive at least 100 spam emails per day. No doubt a good # of those emails contain viruses or are phishing posts, but luckily they are deleted by SpamArrest's filter. We added a new email address to our Terms of Service Agreement recently and within 2 days, the spam emails started to arrive from so called banks, Paypal, Amazon, you name it...

Please, for your protection and remembering this is a very popular site, if you want people to have your email address, please send your email address inside your post with spaces and slashes so that these spam robots cannot identify it as an email address. I would do something like deirdre (at) earthclinicdotcom or something creative like that.

EC: Hi Betty,

Probably not one of Earth Clinic's readers, but one of the spammers who found your email address on the site with their search robots. Please send us a private post with your email address and we will search for it on the site and remove it from view. To reiterate what I mentioned this morning, there is no way for anyone to obtain your email address unless it is visible on the website!

EC: Yes, done! We got 2 of the same emails late last night too!

P.S. The best way to search for your email address is through google's main search engine (not the one on EC).

If you desire children, no problem, as I seem to be super fertile and prone to multiple births ( 3 sets of twins and 2 sets of triplets to date).

I seem to have terrible luck with marriage because my first 8 husbands all died within 3 years of marriage. This lack of a husband with so many mouths to be fed and clothed is very difficult. We are about to be evicted from our humble project apartment and our food stamps are gone by the second week of the month.

EC: Hi Gean. We found 2 posts from you with a visible email address and removed the email. Please wait a week and then try searching on Google. It takes up to a week to be removed from Google's search results.

It looks like everyone (and I mean everyone) who opted to display their email address on Earth Clinic received the same spam email yesterday. I am getting emails from people who haven't visited the site in ages, asking me how it is that a spammer got their email address from Earth Clinic! Fun, fun, fun. Unfortunately this is how spammers operate... they use robot software to round up all the email addresses visible on a website and then sent out an email en masse.

Once again, we ask you to please go to google.com and type in your email address in quotes ("deirdre@earthclinic.com") and you will discover if you opted on any occasion to make your email address public. You may be suprised to see your email address on other websites besides this one! Please let us know if you want it removed. It makes it easier if you actually send us your email address when you ask it to be removed instead of making us search for it with your screen name and city! Yes, yes, a few people have neglected to mention their email address and sent us a-hunting!

My wife does not think it is all that funny . Now we trying to figure how to block her e mails. As yo folks told you, "don't do as I do, do as I say"."

From the articles I have read on the internet, it is never a good idea to reply to any spammer because that confirms the email address has a live person behind it. Also, some people who do reply with serious responses get put on a "sucker's list" and that list is sold to other people!! Elderly people are the targets of the sucker's list and they end up receiving phone calls too."

If you want to block an email just go to your inbox and click on the email you want to block then, go up to the main top and click on message a window will come up then, go down to block sender and click on block sender and that's it. Be careful, don't ever answer a spam letter. Good luck!!
