01/28/2010: Cindy from Ch, Wi writes: "ads: is this something new or something i just haven't noticed before-the ads for prescriptions and walgreens on your site?"

EC: Hi Cindy,

Any company in the world can create a google ad, which then gets triggered on a multitude of websites by certain key words. There are many, many different ads cycling through EC each day, too many to monitor. Also, ads vary by location. We've banned a number of offensive and creepy ads that have shown up on the site but frankly don't have the time/staff/energy to see what's cycling through every five minutes!

01/29/2010: The_phoenix from Townsville, Australia replies: "Hi All,

Really the ads are not a problem. I seldom notice them. It is very expensive to run a site like this, especially as it becomes more and more successful and can't be managed by one person. Not to mention upgrades to keep up with new technology. If the ads help EC pay for the technicians to make this an even better site well that is great.

Also, I am all for 'my own' running New Age projects, rather than driving trucks for a living. Better for them, better for us and better for the World that their talents aren't wasted on the Old World Order (OWO).

Anyway, I kinda like the idea that Google is sponsoring grass roots health activism. I think the joke is on them, don't you?"

EC: Thank you!

01/29/2010: Cindy from Ch, Wi replies: "sorry if i implied any disrespect to anyone that was not my intent, i am grateful for earth clinic!"

EC: No worries, we appreciate all your feedback, Cindy!

01/27/2010: Bev from Long Beach, Ca writes: "New Topic - Home and Garden

Is anyone interested in having a new topic for natural uses in the home and controlling pests in the garden?"

EC: We have those sections on our environmentalist sister site, Earth Clinic Planet.

01/29/2010: Bev from Long Beach, Ca replies: "Thank you. I had no idea that site existed."

EC: Good to know, thanks!

01/30/2010: Rkymtsprt from Missoula, Montana replies: "Whoopie...yahoooo...wheeee.....I'm like a kid with a new toy!!!! A sister-site? This is too good to be true, I will be devouring all the info all day today. How great is this, thank you to all!"

EC: Is everyone missing the big "Switch To" Planet logo at the top of every page? Must be! ECP (Earth Clinic Planet) has been up for months now!

Daniel is running things over there, so please send him any feedback/comments/ideas. There's a new design on the way for our little sister.

01/31/2010: Rkymtsprt from Missoula, Montana replies: "Hi EC. Most likely not "everyone" is missing out the new sister-site, for myself, I use a bookmark for the Latest Posts only, quickly scroll to those of relevance for me, and consequently had not yet been aware of the Earth Clinic Planet Logo (hence my joyous reply to y'all yesterday). I felt a tad chastised by the tone of your note under my post! Had I known, I would certainly have directed my giddiness to Daniel."

EC: Oops, sorry, didn't mean to make you feel chastised whatsoever! We love giddiness!

01/19/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, France writes: "I am new to this site and therefore have a couple of questions. It seems to me that members who ask questions never manage to reach the person in question because there is no possibility to keep following a thread we are interested to. Am I right? I have reacted to a few postings and posted some questions but as I am not notified when someone adds something useful I will never know.

Another question, a lot of people talk about Blackstrap Molassos but even my husband who is British has never heard of it. Is any type of Molassos we buy in the shops the same thing or is thing something American? In the UK there is Treacle available in any supermarket but also Molassos available in the health shops but I have never seen Blackstrap Molassos. I would like to try it but as I live in France the costs to have it send in case one buys online are horrendous. Online one does find blackstrap Molassos in the UK.

I find your site very interesting but I really think that it would be even more interesting if people can get real answers to their questions without having to look through the whole site on a regular basis.

Best regards,

Francisca"

EC: Hi Francisca, thank you for your feedback. Adding a "notify me" and "add to favorites" icon is on out "to do" list for the programmers (an outside company). In the meantime, however, if you are a registered user, you can simply look up your posts in the "My Feedback" section in your account and follow the link to find your post quickly.

We'll let someone from your area of the world answer the question about blackstrap molasses!

01/19/2010: Phil from Belfast, Uk replies: "Reference Blackstrap Molasses in the UK - I reside in Ireland and can purchase it online at a very reasonable cost including P&P

There are a lost of sellers who will send it free of charge if you search the Internet

I hope this will help"

01/19/2010: Laurie from Belleville, Ontario, Canada replies: "Hi Francisca I think I found the answer to your question.
You see, as I recall growing up "treacle" was the brand name for blackstrap molasses; at least here in Canada.

I found 3 websites which explain it well (the last one I think may be best)
I really hope these will be of some help to you and your husband.

http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/387922/molasses

Just under the word ARTICLE you will see this
" agricultural product
also called Treacle, "

EC: I was brought up on Golden Syrup (my mother is British) and it definitely isn't blackstrap molasses, so be careful not to buy that!

Per your instructions on this website I sent a rather detailed email to Ted's email address, but I have not heard back from him...I am wondering if he is too swamped, or if I should actually post the questions in my email to the website instead?"

EC: Unfortunately Ted only answers a handful of questions now and again. Best if you post your question on the Latest Posts page of the site for our frequent readers.

12/26/2009: Earth Clinic writes: "Hello everyone,

It seems to be somewhat cylical, but every so often it seems we get submissions on the site that are weird and/or mean-spirited. And every day we get a good number of posts that are clever attempts to promote products, herbs or supplements. This is just a reminder to our registered users to please flag any posts that make you uncomfortable, that you feel are inappropriate, or that strike your intuition as "not quite right". Registered users will see a red flag icon at the bottom of every post when they are logged into their accounts that they can click on. If you are not a registered user, you can simply reply to any post with the word FLAGGED and we will review the post you have flagged.

Thanks so much!"

12/27/2009: Earth Clinic replies: "Thank you so much, guys! Multiple users have flagged a post as inappropriate on our Latest Posts page, so it has been removed (as well as the posts from the angry responders, sorry about that)."

12/17/2009: Beverley from London, United Kingdom writes: "In the first instance - thank you so much for this wonderful site. I have been a regular visitor for many years now and both I and my family & friends have benefitted enormously from the information here.

Turning to my website comment...For over a month now I have noticed very large gaps between individual posts. This means I often have to scroll down quite far before the next post comes into view. It never used to appear like this and I wonder if this is a glitch in the formatting/programming?

Many thanks,

Beverley "

EC: Hi Beverley,

Thank you so much for the feedback. Would you be kind enough to send me the url to a page where you see this issue? Would be greatly appreciated. Also, can you tell me what browser you are viewing the website on? My programmer makes changes to the site quite often, but no one has reported this issue before, nor can I find large gaps on any pages). Sometimes deleting your browser history and cache and then restarting your browser corrects page errors or refreshes the template with the most recent programming changes.

Deirdre

appreciated!

12/18/2009: Alain from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada replies: "Answer about big gaps in posts (latest posts)

If you check one of my earlier post I mentioned this as well. For me it occurs when I use IExplorer 6.

My conclusion is the big gaps are the spaces occupied by the rest of the thread which appear shrinked with some browser but they are like opened with no text shown when IExplorer 6 is used.

Alain"

EC: Okay, thanks Alain. I will get the programmer to fix it asap. Appreciated!

Deirdre

12/20/2009: Maureen from Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada replies: "Hi Deirdre,

I had the exact same problem when the up/down arrow buttons were first introduced. On my P.C. which had Internet Explorer 7 at the time things worked fine. On my husbands laptop which had Internet Explorer 6 at the time, it showed the large gaps between posts that had previous posts attached. The gap size depended on the size of the previous posts. When Internet Explorer was updated to 7 (now 8). The problem went away.

Maureen"

EC: Thanks so much Maureen, very helpful!

Deirdre

12/22/2009: Beverley from London, United Kingdom replies: "Thank you very much for your feedback Alain and Maureen. I am indeed using Internet Explorer 6, so this may well be the problem. I will try Deirdre's suggestion first to delete my browser history and cache, then restarting the browser to see if this makes any difference. If that does not work I will look into updating Internet Explorer (surely long overdue anyway!).

Kind regards,

Beverley"

EC: Hi Beverley,

Sorry, it looks like deleting your history and cache won't help. My programmers just told me that the gap issue is due to users viewing the Latest Posts page on an older browser. The Latest Posts page is best experienced with IE7 (and up) and Firefox 2 (and up). I need to put a note on the Latest Posts page about this so that others can update their browsers too if they are experiencing the same gap issues. Thanks for bringing it to our attention!

12/13/2009: Baldev from Mumbai, Maharashtra, India writes: "Migraines

How do we find Ted's recomendations on perticular ailment ? What we see is individual experiences and suggestions and some times the answer of Ted to some question. Thanks"

EC: Hi Baldev,

If Ted has made a recommendation, it will either be at the top of the table of contents menu called "Ted's Remedies" or it will be in the section called "Questions & Answers", also at the top of the toc menu on each page.

Unfortunately, the migraine page does not have anything listed from Ted in either section. However Ted has answered a couple of questions on the headache remedy Q&A page: http://www.earthclinic.com/CURES/headache_questions.html

I love this site! So thankful for everyone."

EC: Hi Celteyes. If you can't find someone's post but know his/her name, send it to us and we'll help you search for it. The more information you can remember, the better.

Google search (at the top of each page on our site) is supposed to have every post indexed, but some posts do slip through the cracks.

11/17/2009: Joseph from Lake Worth, Fl writes: "Is it best to contact ted email directly or go thru EC site for Health Questions for him. I sent emails to his parhat email address but I'm not sure if he received it ?"

EC: Hi Joseph,

Ted probably received your email, but doesn't have time to respond to many questions, unfortunately. Also, he won't answer a question if he's covered the topic in previous answers.

Either emailing Ted or submitting a question to the site is about the same.

11/08/2009: Ahj from San Diego, Ca writes: "Acronyms and Abbreviations

I would like to suggest that you take the time to spell out your three letter abbreviations and acronyms (such ACV for apple cider vinegar, for example). To read a post that uses these if one does not already know what they are is irritating and completely defeats the purpose of communicating.

Alternatively you could make links out of all these abbreviations to a nomenclature page which gave the meanings. This would make your whole site more effective and reduce the bewildering array of undefined terms."

EC: Hi Ahj,

We already have a page for Acronyms and Abbreviations - it just must not be clearly visible. We link to it on the remedy and ailments index pages: http://www.earthclinic.com/guides.html.

We'll start spelling out more acronyms in the new, incoming posts. Thanks for bringing this up.

EC: Ted is very much around as of last week and has been answering quite a few questions. Please check Ted's Latest Q&A page for his responses to questions. You can also email him: parhat@yahoo.com. Just remember that he gets dozens of questions emailed to him each day (on top of the ones that we instant message to him) and only has time to respond to a few.

Where can I find it? I would like to add a "P.S." to the allergies post. THANK YOU!"

EC: Hi Anonymous. Do you see any links in "My Feedback" after you log in? If so, clicking on them should direct you to your posts. If not, hmmmm... we've run a few tests just now and can see the links just fine.

In the meantime, you can find your recent posts on the Latest Pets Posts section here: http://www.earthclinic.com/latest_petposts.html. You will find the icon (a paw) to the Latest Pets page at the top of our Latest Posts page. Clicking on the link at the top of your feedback will take you directly to the inside page where your feedback has been posted. Hope this makes sense!

Basically, the part of the thread that is hidden, i.e. the part between the topmost post and the explode/implode icon is shown has sometimes a huge white block. It is hard to explain.

I just wanted to make you aware of this.
