Cayenne Pepper Cures
Cayenne Pepper is an herb made from the dried pods of chili peppers. Besides being a very popular spice in cooking, cayenne has also been used medicinally for thousands of years. High in Vitamins A, C, B complex, calcium and potassium, cayenne is a wonderful healing aid for the digestive system since it acts as a catalyst and increases the effectiveness of other foods and herbs when used with them. It is also very healing for the heart and circulatory system. Studies have shown that Cayenne can rebuild the tissue in the stomach and the peristaltic action in the intestines.
Cayenne is traditionally used by herbalists to cure stomach aches, cramping, gas, varicose veins, allergies, and constipation. One of the most amazing healing properties of cayenne is that it has been used successfully time and time again to relieve heart attacks:
From the healing text of Dr. Christopher:
"In 35 years of practice, and working with the people and teaching, I have never on house calls lost one heart attack patient and the reason is, whenever I go in--if they are still breathing--I pour down them a cup of cayenne tea (a teaspoon of cayenne in a cup of hot water, and within minutes they are up and around). This is one of the fastest acting aids we could ever give for the heart, because it feeds that heart immediately. Most hearts are suffering from malnutrition because of processed food we are eating, but here it gets a good powerful dose of real food and it's something that has brought people in time after time. This is something that everyone should know how great it is, because a heart attack can come to your friends or loved ones any time. And even yourself. The warm tea is faster working than tablets, capsules, cold tea, because the warm tea opens up the cell structure--makes it expand and accept the cayenne that much faster, and it goes directly to the heart, through the artery system, and feeds it in powerful food."

ARRHYTHMIA

[YEA] 06/21/2009: Geri from Dothan, Alabama writes: "Cayenne pepper effects on heart racing and arrythmia...
I have been using cayenne pepper for several months for racing heart and arrythmia. Within less than a minute my heart is back to normal!! I use 1/2 teaspoon in warm water, less than a cup, one teaspoon in 8oz is recommended, but I get the results from 1/2 tsp., also I use cayenne pepper liberally on most of my food, like salads, baked potato, omlets, etc.. I have tried MANY natural cures, but never had one work so fast. The Phamaceutical companies will probably try to get this miracle cure declared illegal! If people could try it, doctors and drugs would lose billions! I don't mind the heat at all for the results I get. It IS a good idea to have some food in your stomach, though. Wonderful site, Earth Clinic!!"
Replies11/27/2009: Holyfoods from Saint John, New Brunswick replies: ""big pharma" could never make cayenne illegal. but, you'll never hear of a doctor (non-holistic) prescribing cayenne for arrythmias, ulcers, circulation etc. because theres no money in it for them or the drug companies, much like most natural cures. and thats just fantastic!"
[YEA] 02/13/2011: Kolin from Nottingham, England replies: "Yesterday I had, unusually while awake, a strong episode of atrial flutter, my chest felt like a washine machine full of golf balls! It would not calm down with relaxation etc, so, half teaspoon cayenne in a cup of warm water followed by a short deliberate heavy coughing session, 5 minutes later all went back to normal, well worth trying!
Keep up these posts, love to all, Kolin."
02/14/2011: Dallas from Amesbury, Ma, Usa replies: "This is a GREAT description of an arrythmia! Gotta LOVE it. Next time it happens, I hope I remember this remedy. Another remedy to keep the golf balls out of the washing machine is CoQ10 on a regular basis. I started with a heavy dose and it worked right away. I was astounded. Then I worked my way down to a lighter dose. Less expensive."
02/15/2011: Candy from Fort Madison, Ia replies: "I don't get it. What are you talking about golf balls in the washing machine?"
02/16/2011: Kolin from Nottingham, England replies: "Re: chest feeling like a washing machine full of golf balls, the sensation in my chect was many light weight , irregular flutterings feeling, I thought like a heap of golf balls juggling about, not a regular fast beat as with atrial tachycardia which I have experienced a few times. These things are difficult to describe to anyone who has not experienced them, hope this helps explain somewhat. The main point however was the rapid return to normal after the cayenne and coughing.
Thanks for your interest, Kolin."
12/07/2011: Michael from Pheonix, Az replies: "Its great to hear of your success. I've been reading up on cayenne pepper and decided to give it a try. I am taking it as a tea as well as trying to incorporate it more into my regular diet as a spice. I think it would be very difficult for big pharma to make it illegal, however they do a good enough job of marginalizing the thought of its benefits. My doctor reacted with mild disdain at the subject. Nevertheless, I can already feel a difference and it's only been around a week. I've learned the hard way to have something in my stomach when I take cayenne pepper for me at least when starting out, so as not to totally shock my digestive system.all the best in your health, Michael."

I did that diet for 2 and half days without eating.
Anyways it was the cayenne pepper that made me pain free. I researched cayenne pepper online and bought the pills. It works great. I take more then it says too. it takes about 6 Cayenne fruit pills. it cost less the 3 dollars at Wal-mart. And Well worth it!! - u know that diet i was supposed to have min. Look up Cayenne pepper it does much more then just for pain oh and weight loss. 3 thumbs way up."

ATHLETE'S FOOT
09/21/2006: Vince from Philadelphia, PA writes: "I had Athletes' Foot between 2 toes that sit against each other. I had it off and on for years. It was hard to dry them after a shower, and when in a rush, I don't think I did it that well, and then sitting against each other, I would probably really have to, and sweating probably cause it also. I only applied cayenne in salt water one time, and it has been gone for years. Usually it has to stay in place for a while on skin surfaces, so I soak the gauze on a bandaid, but since my toes touch, I didn't have to."

CAYENNE CONTRAINDICATIONS

[WARNING!] 05/26/2008: Jasmine from Chicago, IL writes: "This is just a warning to all cayenne users. There are only a few categories of herbs, the most cautionary one is heated ones like ginger and cayenne. There are also bitter herbs and sweet herbs. Heated herbs can actually raise your body temperature a few points.
In cases of mild fever, this isn't dangerous, but if you have a high fever, please do not use hot spices in LARGE quantity. A little as a spice in your food is fine, but using it medicinally can involve much more than you would ever ingest normally.
Many remedies for chills, frostbite, hypothermia, and similar "cold" conditions use these heated herbs due to this reason. They warm you up.
Always monitor your body temperature and discontinue the cayenne if your temperature is turning into a high fever. Use your common sense. Heated herbs are sometimes used as fever breakers, just as some would cover their loved one in blankets to "break" their fever. But when a fever becomes too high, heat is a bad idea. There are other sweet and bitter herbal remedies for sore throats and the like that can work just as well. So please take caution in using heated herbs with fevers.
As with any herbal use, there are always precautions we must take to ensure our safety. This is one of those measures I hope everyone is aware of."
[YEA] 02/25/2011: William from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada replies: "Hi Jasmine,
You are definitely wrong regarding cayenne pepper. I've been filling my own "00" gel caps with cayenne pepper for a year now, with no side affects. I take it orally now. This is the most beneficial way to do it. But you must start out with organic cayenne pepper at about 40, 000SHU (heat units) by taking 1/8 tsp. In 4 oz. Room temp. Distilled water, after every meal and build up to hotter pepper. DO NOT TAKE IT ON AN EMPTY STOMACH! YOU WILL REGRET IT! I am now taking 1 level tsp. of organic cayenne pepper @ 90,000SHU in 4 oz. of distilled water after every meal. I can even swirl it around in my mouth for a while. You will get used to it... Trust me. I suggest you go to this site and read all about cayenne pepper.

This spice/herb is truly amazing.
I am 66 years old and I've never felt better in my life. I cayenne pepper was $50.00 a pound (which it isn't) I would still buy a pound every month.

01/20/2008: John from Panama City, FL writes: "Someone offered this advice to hunters (and anyone else looking to keep their feet warm): sprinkle cayenne in your socks. It DOES work. However, DIABETICS BE WARNED: you should be careful using any topical treatment which provides heat, be it medicinal or homeopathic (this includes cayenne, IcyHot or similar items, electric heating pads, etc.). Because diabetics often suffer from poor circulation and skin issues, using such items can produce burning, and since diabetics often do not heal as quickly, this can become a serious medical issue."

06/01/2007: Karenna from SF, CA writes: "Cayenne is NOT unsafe per one of your feedback customers. I recently found your website in some research I am doing on Cayenne and Lymph, but was a little disconcerted to see that you published someone's testimonial warning others not to use cayenne if they do not want their blood thinned.
Cayenne is used in midwifery and in other instances when needed to stop hemorrhaging, and has the ability to correct and balance both ends of many circulation issues. It will assist in dissolving clots as well as stopping bleeding, and it will -- over time -- correct both high and low blood pressure.
I suggest to all readers that when it comes to benefits and contraindications of herbs and medications, that they exhaustive research, or at least more than they think is necessary, to discover what they need to know for their particular situation or those for whom they are caring. [EC: Thanks, Karenna. We appreciate your clarification!]"
[YEA] 10/01/2010: Schrimsh from Seffner, Florida replies: "I have had personal experience with cayenne for stopping hemorrhaging. Immediately after the birth of my second child, I began hemorrhaging pretty badly. The midwife tried everything she could think of to get it to stop, but it wouldn't. Finally, on the insistence of the birth assistant, they gave me two full droppers (not two drops) of cayenne tincture. The bleeding stopped instantly. My mouth was on fire, but at least I was safe."
01/03/2011: Mary from Modena, Italy replies: "Hi Karenna, I have problems with varicose veins and started using the Cayenne pepper against the symptoms. I read on a site to take a teaspoon of Cayenne pepper powder in warm water 2 to 3 times a day (starting with 1/8 of a teaspoon slowly building up to the full amount). I was wondering if there are any negative side effects of this on my health if I would take the Cayenne pepper like this long-term? Please let me know as I'm very unsure about how to proceed, as it's helping me a lot but I don't know if it could harm me! Thanks so much!"

[WARNING!] 02/18/2007: Amy from New Haven, CT writes: "Love your site but wanted to let you know that the reason you are supposed to stop taking cayenne pepper before surgery has nothing whatsoever to do with inflammation (which in most cases it doesn't cause anyhow). The reason is that Cayenne Pepper is a very effective blood thinner and so, like aspirin, you don't take it prior to surgery, to ensure minimal blood loss."
Replies02/22/2011: Andrew from Williams Lake, Bc, Canada replies: "Although Cayenne does thin the blood, I have read in several places that it greatly aids in blood coagulation, so that would indicate that it is a good thing prior to surgury, and it is often used to help people stop bleeding when wounded. So, with a little more reading you maybe should retract your misleading statement. Thanks. A."

[SIDE EFFECTS] 02/05/2012: Cameron from Brisbane, Qld, Australia writes: "I have started taking Cayenne Pepper, I do not know the strength and have a question for some one who knows a bit about it.
I am taking 1/2 a tsp in hot water, straight after taking it my Blood Pressure is going to 150 90 and my pulse over 90. It varies but I am very concerned, I feel dizzy as I write this and and will take my blood pressure again then go and lie down.
Can anyone tell me if this is typical, does it stop some time after getting used to taking it?
My normal BP is 127/75 and pulse between 64 and 72."
Replies02/06/2012: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "Hi Cameron, I got a fright the first time I took my bp (20mins) after taking cayenne as it was already raised and I had expected it to start to go down but found it was higher than before taking it. In about 2 hrs it was ok. I have tested it on 2 other occasions when my bp was normal before taking the cayenne and it rose a bit both times but within approx hour it was back to normal. I never had the dizzy feeling that you've had.Make sure you have a good quality cayenne as some time back there were reports of colouring being added to some cayenne batches. If you have some tabasco sauce add a few drops to water and see how you go with that."
02/06/2012: Mmsg from Somewhere, Europe replies: "Cameron: pls take MUCH less! I take only a few grains and it's still helpful."
02/10/2012: Cameron from Brisbane, Qld, Australia replies: "Thanks folks, I have backed off to 1/4 teaspoon of Cayenne in Hot Water with Manuka Honey to sweeten it. My BP is now 122/75 in the morning, my pulse about 60. I do not have the large spike in BP after taking the Cayenne and I am losing weight, have more energy and I really think my eyes are better(my computer screen seems sharper). I think you really need to start off small and build up, I would guess my 1/4 tsp is about right."
02/10/2012: Francisca from Zug, Switzerland replies: "Hi Cameron, interesting that Cayenne Pepper and Manuka Honey in water not only changed your BP for the better but also your eyesight.... I am now trying Gavin's advice for the eyesight, orange and lemon juice with a bit of ACV. I only started today so I can't say anything yet but the taste was surprisingly good and it can't hurt. If that doesn't seem to work in awhile I might try your suggestion but indeed only with a bit of Cayenne Pepper. Starting small is a rule everybody should abide by but unfortunately too often we are so eager to get better that we make things worse! I so wish my bad eyesight would get better because nowadays I not only have the same awful myopia that I have always had but also difficulty to read if my contact lenses or glasses for the myopia are sharp enough. As if one was not a terrible bother now I have both! I have tried natural therapies, done a lot of exercises but nothing ever worked other than orthokeratological lenses and my eyes got a lot better, no doubt about that but when I ran out of money to go on with the therapy my eyes got even worse than they were before. I still regret deeply having done it!"

It goes down very easily with very little burn at all! I also add chopped eggs to it sometimes just to oomph it up a bit. I guess you could also chase it with water since this seems to be the rule here."

01/04/2012: Kenny from Paducah Ky, Kentucky Usa replies: "I agree with the one comment just take it like you're supposed to. I take a teaspoon 90.000 units with water or v8... Hot sauce in a bottle has sodium. (as does v8) anyway as the saying goes, don't be sissy, take it like a man."

10/17/2007: Samantha from Portland, Oregon writes: "I found cayenne a great cure for pretty much everything some time ago. It wasnt long ago that I came down with a bad sinus infection, cough, and fatigue. I decided to boil water on the stove, and add cayenne(open 3 capsules and pour them in), crushed garlic(4 cloves), half an onion, and grated ginger. THIS COMBINATION IS AMAZING. It is SO powerful. The most vital ingredients are the cayenne and garlic, but the onion and ginger are also very helpful. Make sure and boil everything until the onion is mushy, and the garlic is too. Keep a lid on, but every so often inhale the steam from the boiling remedy.. very soothing! Pour it into a glass and drink the whole thing. It is very potent, so what I do is add honey to it and it really tastes like liquid food- like a soup base or something.
Another remedy that I use is cayenne tea- just put a tea bag of your favorite tea in boiling water, and add a capsule of cayenne & some honey. Since I have been using cayenne in tea, and orally, and drinking the onion ginger garlic tincture, I rarely get sick.. and when I do, I can kick it within 3 days maximum. Cayenne is also extremely helpful for menstrual cramps."
06/24/2010: Dustin from Niigata, Japan replies: "Thank you for posting the recipee..I felt very invigorated after drinking it. I plan to do it once a month.I added some freshly squeezed lemons(2) also..very powerful..
Thanks again."
12/18/2010: Iza from Boca Raton , Fl Palm Beach replies: "I just started taking cayenne peper with lemonade, the diet recipy, the teste is unplesante, so I thought I could take lemonade with a cayene pill and will be much easier. Then I read here that the body need feel teste before the stomach to receive the spice. It was a very useful information, thanks Ellen for that. This is wanderful side."
06/17/2011: Jasonmchicago from Chicago, Il (usa) replies: "I have figured out a VERY POWERFUL anti-inflammatory that works almost instantly. I take 1/2 teaspoon of Cayenne pepper in the mouth. Wait until the sensations start then swallow. Then I wait 2-5 minutes until I feel the burning all over my mouth and know that it is working. Then I take the following:- Fresh Garlic
- Fresh Ginger
- 1-2 Ginger Capsules
- 1-2 Turmeric Capsules (high quality brand)
- Fresh Rosemary
- EVOO 1/2 ounce
I swallow this all at once and literally within 1-5 minutes the inflammation goes down. I can feel the muscle inflammation getting the effects of this combo. I heard that Cayenne is amazing for distributing herbal potency to where it needs to go. It quickly circulates the blood and I believe the "powers" of the turmeric, garlic, and rosemary all get going.
It has really helped me out with IMMEDIATE relief of serious inflammation more than any one by themselves or prescription drugs or NSAIDs or anything. If you want added benefit take a hot/warm water moist towel and put it on the area that needs inflammation reduction.
AMAZING!"

[SIDE EFFECTS] 11/11/2007: Gulay Ersoz from Los Angeles, CA writes: "I have been taking one cayenne pepper pill a day with warm lemonade in the mornings for the last 2 weeks or so. I experience slight heartburn like feeling but it was not a big problem. Two days ago, I took two pills instead of one, and it was no more than 3 minutes after I swallowed the pills, I had the extreme cramping in my stomach, became very dizzy, my left arm was hurting and I felt tingling on my fingers and legs... Not only the pain was extremely bad, my head was spinning, I was having hard time walking in my kitchen. I was hot, I just wanted to stop the cramping and managed to throw up. Took two Tums... With the hyper ventilation and dizziness, I laid in the bath tub and turned the cold water on, (I was so out of it and unable to control my reflexes, I couldn't even take my clothes off) it took about another 10-15 minutes before the pain went away, and I actually managed to get up and walk around... I called my doctor friend and she asked me if I experienced chest pain, I said no. Other than that I had all the symptoms of a heart attack. Went to see a doctor, and after the EKG, I was told that I had a bad reaction to cayenne pepper. It was not a joking matter for me, as I was home alone with my 3 year old sleeping in her bed, I had to have a reality check. How healthy is it to be trying to be healthy???"
Replies[SIDE EFFECTS] 11/11/2010: Curt from Leesburg, Va replies: "The other night almost the same thing happen to me. I ate my dinner and then took my cayenne pills (2 of them). Minutes later I started to feel this pain in my stomach. It got worse and worse.... I thought maybe I had to throw up but I really don't like to so I tried not to. I walked into the living room and almost passed out. I laid down on the couch and went into a heavy sweat. Slowly the pain went away and I came back to reality.Since then I have taken my cayenne pills before I eat. This has not happen again BUT... I can't help but want it to happen again. Even though the pain was really bad at first..... I felt great after the episode was over."
11/12/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "I red the terrifying experiences people have had with cayenne pepper pills. What I do is add cayenne pepper to my food or else to my molasses, ACV drink. I can only imagine that this happened because of the impact of quite a big quantity of pepper in your stomach because when you take it you don't manage to take too much as it just burns your mouth. But it is true... Trying to be healthy is quite a tricky thing mainly because you mostly have to do it on your own. I often wonder whether what I am doing is making me better or worse..."
11/12/2010: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi Francisca,
I know the whole health thing can be a tricky thing! And sometimes you can't be sure if it's hype or someone trying to sell something about benefits, etc. I don't know if you've ever heard of Kevin and Annemarie Gianni but they have an internet show that is daily and is only 10 minutes long. They are like sleuths in the health world and work to discern fact, fiction, myth, etc. Their show is called http://renegadehealth.com and they do lots of interviews w/ very interesting people from all over the world and especially w/ those at the forefront of the alternative health world. Knowing your interests from all your posts, I am certain you will love it and find a lot of useful information on it.Anyway, check it out and let me know what you think! I know I've learned a lot from all the various people that they've interviewed and whether certain foods, products, etc. really are healthy or not. You can also send in your own questions and they investigate and answer them as well. Best to you, Lisa"
11/13/2010: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Thanks Lisa, I will really listen to the show because I always have a lot of questions. Maybe they can provide me with a few answers...... This might really be a useful tip, thanks! "
11/13/2010: Ellen from Sherwood Park, Alberta, Canada replies: "The reason you had this over reaction to the cayenne pepper pills is because you should never take anything that tastes hot in a pill form. The body needs to sense that some thing as hot as cayenne pepper is on its way down to the stomache and the stomache is then prepared with the appropriate digestive acids to accept the cayenne pepper to handle it and digest it without any reaction. You may have been told by the people who sold you the pills that it's okay to take cayenne pepper in this form, but I will assure you it is not. Please listen to my advice or better yet do your own research on this and you will see I am telling you the truth. Good luck,
Ellen
P. S. It is very easy to get cayenne into your diet and it is so cheap too. I put my cayenne in a glass of lemon juice which was freshly squeezed (and it needs to be an actual lemon, the fake plastic lemon juice dose nothing to help your health) and put a little cayenne pepper in and sweeten it with liquid stevia. It tastes refreshing and it is health promoting."
01/09/2011: John from Johannesberg, Gauteng South Africa replies: "My message is that in almost all cases of heart problems, the cause is a natural lack of Vit C which the med. Prof. Took 150 years to discover. Their Scurvy was just that. Dr Mathius Rath put us wise to that and how to cure AIDs.This thread is to warn that ill effects from "Cayenne" would more than likely be caused by the gangster community packaging a chemical substitute known as "Sudam" or similar term. The more knowlegable readers would be able to give the correct name of this immitation. It tastes and looks like cayenne, beware."
01/09/2011: Maria from Gippsland, Australia replies: "John, Thanks for the alert I had not heard of this contamination so did some googling and now there are two chemical poisons - the Sudan Red you mentioned and also Para Red. They are illegal dyes that should not be in food. The list of food and spices that are contaminated is still growing and they are sill looking for more. To think I recently looked at some paprika that was very pale and decided not to buy it."

05/22/2011: Dr. I'mnot ? from Beaumont, Tx writes: "I have been taking cayenne for 15 years and recommend it for anyone wanting: to lose weight, help with blood pressure issues, circulatory benefits, to lower cholesterol and even help with some headaches, help with stomach problems [(not for stomach ulcers) aloevera juice for stomach ulcers]. If you consume alcohol in excess your intestinal tract will lose some of its protection and will be easily upset by cayenne.
Cayenne can be absorbed into the system with warm or cool water, I would not recommend mixing with orange or lemon juice at first, reason being an incresae in acid can cause an upset stomach which would be blamed on the cayenne. If you use warm water with cayenne it can produce an uncomfortable burning upon exiting the body, with cool water it will be almost unnoticeable. I will take one tbsp (one tsp for beginners ) of cayenne pepper powder (bought at the store) mix with half a cup of water drink that and then drink a glass of water to wash it down. I can take it on an empty stomach with small side effects, but I don't recommend this for the beginner Good luck and to good health, Have a Great Day"
Replies[YEA] 11/15/2011: Gary from Wauchope, Nsw Australia replies: "If you have a look around on the net at all the different foods you will find the lemon isn't acid but is the highest alkaline food of all the groups and if you have a look at www.cayennepepper.info you will see that cayenne and warm lemon juice and water is really good for getting the natural fat furnace going. I have gone from 111cm around the girth on 14/10/2011 to 107cm around the girth on 14/11/2011 plus I have been doing 2.5 Klm on the cross trainer per day."

07/07/2010: Cristy from Dallas, Tx writes: "I have had much success with taking two teaspoons of cayenne pepper in a small cup of juice or beer (beer works really well--just about 3 ounces of it! ) but I have had unbearably bad side effects with cayenne *capsules*. About 15-20 minutes after taking the capsules I get terrible, sharp stomach pains, cramps, and gas that last for a good 30 minutes and have me doubled over in pain. It feels like I swallowed a bomb! I have read that cayenne should always be taken straight because digestion begins in the mouth, and the sharp spicy taste prepares the stomach to receive the pepper. For those fearful of the spicy taste, I vouch that I have a low "spicy-tolerance" and that when shooting the cayenne in a couple of ounces of liquid, the spiciness only lasts for 20-30 seconds and disappears completely. Not at all that lingering, intolerable burning we all know from eating Mexican food! Plus, drinking it straight gives you a pleasant head-rush and wave of energy. Cheers!"

[YEA] 07/02/2010: Wanda from Memphis, Tn writes: "Cayenne Pepper suggestion: I started using cayenne for weight loss but love the way I immediately feel energized when I take it. I like covering it with cottage cheese but have stumbled across another way to take them by making my own cayenne pills. I bought empty Gelatin Capsules at a health food store and filled them with cayenne. The easiest way I found was to line up capsules on painters tape then, put another piece of painters tape on top of the capsules. This will keep them straight but you can fold them. Hold them over a pyrex dish and pour the cayenne all over them. You can tap them down several times and pour more until they are full. It's pretty easy to get the tops of the capsules on and beats trying to fill one at a time. Watch out for breathing the dust. You might want to use gloves or just be careful to keep your hands washed between working with the capsules."

[QUESTION] 06/08/2009: Doug from New Castle, DE writes: "Hello,
My friend purchased some 90,000hu cayenne pepper. I started taking it also for health benefits and will be ordering my own supply soon. However I have a question. Why does everyone say put in in "warm" water before drinking? I think I'd prefer cold water, but please explain.
Thanks,
Doug"
04/18/2010: C from Maize, Ks replies: "They usually take it with warm water because its easier to get accustomed with the heat that cayenne pepper produces if taken with warm water. It dulls the heat alittle and makes it easier to take orally. Usually you won't have any issues with taking it if it is in pill form as it would be taken in powder form or liquid form"
[YEA] 08/27/2010: Frank from Charlotte, Nc replies: "Dr. Christopher says that you should use warm water because the warm water opens your system up and allows the cayenne to get into your system faster than using cold water. I took cayenne capsules several years ago and quit. Because of type 2 diabetes, my feet had become numb and I have pain and burning to the point that I had to stop my 30 minute daily walks. I started taking cayenne (1 teaspoon in 8oz warm water three times a day) about two weeks ago for my heart and high blood pressure. To my surpise after 3 days of the cayenne, I suddenly noticed that my feet didn't hurt like they had before. After almost two weeks, I am just about completely free of pain and numbness. I am actually wearing shoes today that I could not walk in a month ago. I read today that cayenne will kill prostate cancer cells. Is there anything this herb won't do? I plan to make my cayenne regimen a part of my daily life from now on."
02/06/2011: Amelia from Limerick, Ireland replies: "I take Cayene pepper in a small amount of cold water then drink warm water. I then take a spoonful of Honey. The burning is gone in half a minuit."
02/06/2012: Frank from Perth, West Australia replies: "reading the comments from Frank Charlotte, Nc ref: [yea ]08/27/2010 he says he received huge relief from burning and numb feet [perifial neuropathy] I, too, suffer with this I would like to know if his condition has remained in remission, as his post was 17 months ago. I would like to know how he is going, and if he has any further improvement in his health. I will start with the cayenne asap. Many thanks for your help... Regards Frank"

[YEA] 03/06/2009: Cecilia from Atlanta, Georgia writes: "In order to avoid severe coughing while gargling with cayenne pepper (red pepper) in tempered water you need to breath deeply, hold your breath, take a sip of cayenne pepper, gargle, spit the mix and breath normal.
Gargling this way you avoid breathing through your mouth when you are sipping the mix and the dry cayenne powder doesn't get into your through.
Also, when the throat and larynx are irritated it is better not to swallow a lot of the mix so just swallow what is left in your spit after spitting the mix. It has worked wonderfully for me!"

[YEA] 04/01/2008: Muddythewater from Vancouver, Canada writes: "I have been experimenting with the ingestion of cayenne pepper. So far I have found that the easiest way is to have a drink shaker and a to ounce shot glass.
Add 1 Tbl spoon of Cayenne (maybe slightly less if just starting)
Add 1 Tbl spoon Liquid honey
Lemon juice to taste
4 - 5 ounces water
Shake for at least a minute.
This makes 2, 2 ounce shots.
you can have a glass of water or juice for a kicker, but the honey and lemon really kill the initial taste and shaking it up turns it into'more of a juice floaty spice in water that looks strange. I havent been doing this for long but I feel that the supposed health benefits outweigh the flavor factor.
Good luck! Tips and feedback would be nice."

03/12/2008: Belina from Merida, Yucatan, Mexico writes: "I've read about people having problems with Cayenne, Habanero or other "hot" chilies or sauces and as a Chef who specializes in Mexican fare, plus I now live in Mexico too, I can give you a very easy and efficient remedy to ease the burning from peppers. Also, it doesn't matter if the burning is in your mouth, lips, face (from touching it with your hands after handling peppers) or hands, it works:
Put a little salt on the palm of your left hand, wet the tip of your right index finger in your mouth slightly and dip it in the salt and place it UNDER your tongue (sublingual) in the tender area on your jaw and not ON the underside of the tongue. Relief is very quick, easy to do, you can do it anywhere (like a restaurant) and works for everyone plus you can find salt everywhere."
