I also used a heating pad to get the oil to penetrate deeply within a few days all my glands returned to normal and my appedix was removed a couple weeks later.

Niki from Manchester, United Kingdom writes: "Hi there, I recently came across all the amazing benefits of castor oil. I was so excited to try it.

I have been using it for 5 weeks now and havent seen ANY benefits at all. I have applied it on scars twice daily, used it as a pack over the abdomen about 8 times overnight, used it generously on my feet then slept with socks on overnight about 20 times and used it as an all over body moisturiser daily.

I have seen no improvement at all. Is there any reason why this is happening? I use organic cold-pressed castor oil.

I would appreciate any insight you could give me please. Thanks so much

The Castor bean has drawing properties, and does work well for drawing purposes. It has been used for so many remedies for many years, and yes, can be used as a purgative. But it also draws out impurities from the cellular tissue. I have also used it to purge of gall stones from Gall bladder. I simply mixed it with grapfruit juice, in order to get it down.

Esprit64 from North Yarmouth, Maine Usa writes: "My understanding of castor oil packs is that you should use them on an affected area three days, then four days off. However, since I have multiple health problems and pain sites, can I also use packs in multiple body locations at the same time? Can I stay with one body site for three days, then move to another site for the next three days, etc. ? Every day, having a pack somewhere on my body?

Are packs also effective for upper respiratory and heart problems?

About massage. I understand that castor oil massages can also be done. However, I'm reading the massage should generally be done in the direction of the lymph system. How do I know what direction a lymph system is going?

Finally, does it make sense to massage castor oil into an affected area and then, cover it with plastic wrap, perhaps sleep this way overnight?

Thanks for any clarifications.

Once a castor oil bottle is opened and first used, how long can you keep reusing the oil that you have put into your container for packs? As for the packs themselves, how many times should you use the fabric pack until discarding (I'm reading 30 times max, others write 3-6 months). Finally, once you have initially set-up your castor oil and packs for use, is there any need to continue adding castor oil for "refreshening. " At what point do you throw the oil out and begin again?

[YEA] Tricia from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada writes: "After reading many articles on the wonders of castor oil, I have started using castor oil (neat) to spread on my face. My goal is to improve my sun damaged skin (large brown spots and red around the nose area). I am also acne prone although it's been much better than when I was a teenager. My skin is so greasy you could fry an egg with the amount of oil that comes off it by the end of the day. I have been using Proactiv for years and it works for the acne but leaves my skin dry and oily at the same time!

Anyway, in only three days, the castor oil has already smoothed out my skin, made it LESS oily and seems to have dissolved the flat skin tags that I had on my cheeks near my nose. After cleansing (still with my Proactiv cleanser) and toning with alcohol-free witch hazel, I put the castor oil on my cheekbones (where the brown spots are), around my nose and on my chin. I massage it in for 5 minutes to work it in, then pat the excess off with a Kleenex. I do this in the morning too and wait 10 minutes before putting on makeup on my face. My pressed powder seems to glide on now. The makeup stays on my face ALL day with only one touch up necessary in 10 hours! My skin looks AIRBRUSHED! This is only after three days!! I'll be trying the Oil Cleansing Method next. I want to give up using commercial cleansers altogether.

[YEA] Maureen from Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada writes: "Castor Oil Use during Work-Out

A few months ago I decided to experiment and apply Castor Oil to my face, neck, torso and legs before starting my work-out. I figured since I sweat profusely the oil would absorb into the skin as the pores opened up. I find that it does completely absorb into the skin with the exception of my legs. They feel tacky since they do not sweat as much as the rest of my body. I do not use a towel as I would normally do to dry my face and neck as I begin to drip, instead I rub my hand over the area as little as possible but as needed because I do not want to rub off the oil. Clothing will get stained slightly but tends to come out in the wash because it is watered down with sweat. To be safe, do not use "good" clothing. I work-out (jog) at home not outside. Getting greased up to go outside may not be a good idea although by the time you are finished there is no grease to be seen. So start making your work-out do double duty with the use of Castor Oil or any other oil for that matter! I have not noticed any benefits I just do it because the oil is good for the body in general. About a month ago, I bought some Castor Oil and and was using it for my face (wrinkles etc) and I must say, it's just fantastic... Last night I could barely sleep due to the knee pain so I tried the Castor Oil on my knee.. I massaged it in for around 5 minutes and went to bed... This morning, I woke up almost totally pain free.. Apart from a slight pulling sensation at the back of my knee, the severe pain I was suffering with for days, has gone... I'm not only gobsmacked but still gingerly walking around as if it's going to erupt at any minute.... I can't thank this site enough and the information it offers... It has been a God send.... I am going to use the oil on other parts of my body as well whenever I feel tension or pain... I'm still shocked as I write this.. Thank you to everyone who asks great questions and others who give such informative answers, especially Ted... God Bless you.. Karen

[YEA] Elise from Perth, Wa Australia writes: "I have been struggling with dry eyes all my life. I have always found that if the air is a little too cold or windy, my eyes immediately begin to water uncontrollably. I tend to wear mascara and eyeliner etc, so I would always have black under my eyes which was also rather embarrassing. I would also find my eyes would get red and start stinging in these situations. I heard about people putting a couple of drops of castor oil into each eye before going to bed. I tried this myself. The first couple of nights it can sting a little, but disappears when your eyes are closed. After about a week, my problem disappeared. It also made THE WHITES OF MY EYES WHITER, AND THE BLUE MUCH BRIGHTER! ! ! My eyes now look like my 1 year olds pure, sparkling eyes! Fabulous! My EYELASHES ALSO GREW THICKER AND LONGER within that week. Your eyes naturally have an oil layer. This helps nourish that layer of the eye. You can buy eye drops that are very costly, but the main ingredient in them is castor oil anyway. Save yourself some money and buy castor oil!"

I couldn't believe it. I had read on this site about Castor Oil being good for sleep, so every time I put it on my eyelids I sleep better that night. i posted a question lastweek asking about castor oil for hyperthyroid and no one answered but im going for it. with amazing results on my hand i have figured i will try and let u know what happens. i have never used this before last monday but im a firm believer now. thanks ec. thanks edgar cayce. thanks God!

As soon as the hit or smash occurs, saturate the entire area with Castor oil and leave on. Really lay it on! This has been advice that was given by a medical practitioner some 40 yrs. ago and it works. It will also remove blood blisters, take the swelling down and stop the pain. I was hit in the arm muscle with a zinger grounder and immediately applied my Castor oil. It took out the pain and never swelled and where I did not go down my arm far enough it did bruise, but where I applied the Castor oil it did NOT bruise. It's awesome for toddlers who constantly are falling. Apply ice on top of the Castor oil if you wish, but many times it's unavailable and the oil is handy to carry on you in a small bottle.

There is no pain, but it looks gross. I first got this while living in West Texas and was diagnosed by an Ophthalmologist. My doctor told me that it is not serious unless it starts growing towards the pupil and therefore, should be removed because it will affect my eye sight. My pterygium over the years was getting closer and closer to my pupil as the years have gone by. I knew that very soon I would have to have surgery to have it removed. I started the castor oil therapy about 2 weeks ago for my insomnia and just about 2 days ago I was looking in the mirror and look at my eyes and had to do a double take. The pterygium is almost gone! It is very thin and is not noticeable at all. I am so happy! I started using castor oil for insomnia and that was successful and at the same time cured my pterygium. Thank you so much. :D"

[YEA] Whispergently from Timmins, Ontario Canada writes: "When I first read about Castor Oil it wasn't through Cayce but from a newsletter written by Dr. David G. Williams if anyone is wanting to read the helpful research and information provided in his newsletter simply email me at rtz4973@hotmail.com and I'll forward you the newsletter (afraid of posting it, infringement rights), he's done extensive research and he and other doctors have been treating their patients with the oil. He states to his knowledge "ricinoleic acid is not found in any other substance except castor oil. Such a high concentration of this unusual, unsaturated fatty acid is thought to be responsible for castor oil's remarkable healing abilities". He also explains that it's good for those suffering from AIDS and the list is rather long. He now has a web site but haven't found this information on his website, he wrote this newsletter back in July 1995 therefore with this comment I'm being presumptuous by saying "he's gone on into sales now and into the money making business".

He's researched the lymphatic condition (Lymphocytes are the disease-fighting cells of your immune system) and complaints that can benefit from this method:

1. Chronic fluid retention with swollen joints and pain
2. Arthritis
3. Upper respiratory infections involving the sinuses,
tonsils and inner ear
4. Colon problems like Crohn's disease or colitis
5. Gallbladder disease
6. Boils
7. Liver cirrhosis, hepatitis, enlargement or congestion
8. Menstrual-related congestion
9. Appendicitis
10. Hyperactivity
11. Constipation, bowel impaction or adhesions
12. Swollen lymph nodes
13. Bladder and vaginal infections

One thing for sure you do need to read his newsletter. I no longer can find it on the web, I do so much reading and searching that I lose track of where I've been, no spring chicken here, although benefits from the oils are making me feel like one, lol.

I still believe the best place to put the oil is on the feet, no need for the packs, it's absorbed through the skin regardless of where you put it, also you can wear it all day without infringing on your daily activities, plus the smell will be somewhat hidden inside your shoes.

[YEA] Marge from Phoenix, Az, USA writes: "I've been using castor oil packs as a healing treatment off and on for years since first learning of their efficacy from a 'holistic' doctor here in Phoenix. Once years ago I accidentally slammed a car door on my ankle which caused tremendous swelling and bruising and I simply could not bear any weight on my foot. Elevated the leg and wrapped the ankle in a rag soaked with castor oil and applied heating pad over ankle. Remained that way for most of the night and upon waking, nearly all swelling and bruising was gone and I was able to walk and bear weight on injured ankle again! Amazing.

Several years ago tripped and fell down a flight of concrete stairs landing on both knees. Both knees swelled and were in excruciating pain. Proceeded to lie down with both legs elevated on top of several pillows and applied a well-soaked castor oil pack to each knee. Placed heating pad on top. Next morning - pain, stiffness and swelling was 95% gone and was able to go about my normal activities.

Am currently working on severe tendonitis in right shoulder affecting rotator cup and extending down right arm, using castor oil treatments at night. Will let you know results."

[YEA] Cajun62234 from Opelousas, Louisiana writes: "As a proven believer in Castor Oil, the other morning I awoke with a very sore gum in the vicinity of my right canine tooth. A look in the mirror indicated it was blood red, very tender, but no blood excreted when massaging. I generally 'oil' with Sesame Oil, but thought 'Why not try CO?'... Two 20 minute sessions [about 3-4 hours inbetween] and a session at bed time. I excreted all of the 'oiling', but let the CO coating remain in my mouth over night...the next morning it was 95% better; a repeat of the previous day's treatment produced a 100% recovery by the following evening...no redness, no tenderness and a normal, healthy gum.."
