I was trying to make sugar wax for hair removal at home. I had poured the sugar in a bowl and was waiting for it to cool.. I got bored and decided to pick at the edges to see if it was setting right. The edges were hard. I picked more and caught my knuckle of my middle finger on the HOT, melted sugar. It hurt A LOT! Running cold water on it helped, but eventually, the pain and swelling got so bad, nothing was working. I went to the 24 hour drug store and the manager sprayed some burn pain relief on it. It worked but I kept having to spray it on, and eventually, it stopped working, too.
Out of desparation, I went with my first instinct I had when I burned myself and made a paste out of baking soda. The pain went away immediately. But it came back as the baking soda dried out. I had to go to bed so I could work the next day. So, I made more paste, caked it on my finger, covered my hand with a ziploc baggie and covered the baggie with a sock. Then, I took Excedrin PM and went to bed. When I woke up, the baking soda paste was still wet and my finger no longer hurt. There's a blister there, but no pain!

I saw that many had mentioned that baking soda when mixed into a paste (using water) relieves and sometimes eliminates burns. This is true, however, in my own experimentation, I no longer retain burns if I have baking soda on hand.
Apply the paste thickly over the burned area. The thicker the better. I leave it on until it dries, then rinse it off with water and reapply. Continue doing this until you have no pain. This completely takes the pain and redness out of 1st and 2nd degree burns. You won't even know you were burned! The first time you apply it, it will relieve the pain, but it may return. I've never had to apply it more than 4 times but trust me, taking the time to do this remedy will save you blistering, pain, and irritation later on!
There is one other remedy for burns. I once burned my hand on a very hot light bulb. My skin turned white on one site of the burn, indicating a 3rd degree condition. I didn't have any feeling in the area, the skin was completely dead. The other parts were red and sore, indicating a 2nd degree burn. A day past and I had no relief. The burn started looking worse. I tried honey, it only made me sticky but the heat was still there.
I knew that tea was an astingent, so I took a normal lipton black tea bag and dunked it in hot water twice, then I allowed the bag to cool. I placed the wet bag over the burn and wrapped my hand to keep it in place. I fell asleep for 2 hours and when I woke up the burn no longer hurt and was beginning to heal! I changed bags and rewrapped it for a few hours. My skin turned temporarily a little orange/brown but the burn gave me no problems afterward, healed perfectly and didn't scar at all.

I was baking a cherry pie and i burned my hand on the baking pan. About two hours later i couldn't stand the pain anymore and i looked this web site up and tried the baking soda paste. It worked!!!!! My pain was gone within 10 min. I would recomend this to anyone. It is great and it really works!
i mixed up the baking soda and the water and put it on right away and the pain stopped. i had been putting ice on it for about an hour before, but the pain just came back over and over again
I love baking and, unfortunately, burns go with the territory. I have found making a paste of baking soda mixed with a little water is effective if applied immediately. The baking soda seems to draw out the heat and reduce (or eliminate, depending on the degree) the redness. This works great for me, because when you are baking you always have baking soda right at your finger tips!
I suggest that your readers go here: www.curenaturalicancro.com. Here you will find that doctors have been finding and ignoring that surrounding every cancer is fungus. Baking soda kills the fungus in the body. If some are getting a yeast infection which is a fungus. I find that interesting. This site uses straight Baking Soda with no ACV and does so both by mouth, intravenously and injected into cancer sites. It may be that acid reflux is also a symptom of candida. Those who find relief from bread....may and I am not sure....may be getting relief due to the fact that the bread feeds the yeast and gets it to shut up.
I have a cat who has incurable cancer. We are going to inject it into the site. I will print here how it goes.I myself have just started doing the ACV and honey with Baking Soda I may try also adding the Coconut oil. I would be interested in hearing from others, but don't want my email address hooked to a spider. Cheers.

I just recently read about a Dr in Italy using Baking soda to cure cancer here is his site curenaturalicancro.com so this protocol is very timely Marla
Baking soda cured my canker sore within 24 hours. I had major pain on the side of my tongue to find a canker sore it was so sore I couldn't hardly swallow. I took 1tsp of baking soda and 1 tsp of water and kept it in my mouth as long as possible. I did this 3 times within an hour went to bed and did the same the next morning by dinner time the canker sore was gone! Thank you for this site its a great help.
Out of the blue 4 days ago I got a canker sore that was 1.5 inches large on the side of my tongue. It was excruciating! Last night before bed I tried putting a baking soda paste on it and I woke up this morning and it's almost gone! I am so glad I found this website!!
I ran a quick search over the weekend on treatments for chronic canker sores on behalf of my boyfriend who has suffered these painful occurrences since childhood. I came across this site and he decided to try the baking soda paste. It stung at first, but it helped him heal within five days and he's so happy to have found this treatment. Thanks.
I had the worst canker sore on my gum right behind my last upper molar. It hurt to even swallow and actually woke me up at 2:00 am in the morning last night. Apparently the Zilactin-B I put on it was not working! I stumbled upon your website and decided to try the only 2 things I could get my hands on at that time of night: salt and baking soda. First I removed all of the Zilactin and rinsed my mouth with warm salt water. Then, I made a paste with baking soda and a few drops of water and placed it on the canker and let it sit for about a mintue. Then I rinsed my mouth with plain warm water. I also took 2 tylenol to help get back to sleep. I still had some pain when trying to get back to sleep, but just woke up completely pain free!! I can swallow without pain and actually enjoyed my breakfast! I can't believe it! I plan to put another "paste" on today just to make sure, but will attest that this remedy really works!
I get canker sores often and they cause me alot of pain when I eat or talk. I heard that baking soda can help. I started using baking soda and it takes the pain out for hours at a time. First I mix it with water to make a paste, and apply it to the sore, hold it on for a straigt minute. (yes, it stings and will bring tears to your eyes) then swish with water and spit it out. I can go to work for 6 hours and have no pain. Rinsing mouth out with a teaspon of baking soda in a glass of water periodically during the day helps too.
Inexpensive and always at hand, baking soda is an excellent alternative to a number of commercial cleaning and maintenance products. Conventional cleaners, drain cleaners, disinfectants, and deodorizers are full of chemicals harmful to the environment and dangerous to our own health, including concerns about childhood development, asthma at all ages, and increased risks for cancer.
Option 1: All-Purpose Cleaner
A quart of water
Four teaspoons of baking soda
Mix and keep in a spray bottle.
It's a disinfectant for counters, a grease-cutter anywhere, good for windows, great for floors, and as clean and fresh as the new day.
Option 2: Drain Maintainer
Mix a cup of baking soda with a cup of vinegar, pour it down your kitchen sink each week, and it will keep your pipes free of clogs.
Option 3: Tape Remover
The glue left behind when you peel old tape off from a clean surface can be an awful headache, but a thick paste of baking soda and water, rubbed onto those bits of tape stuck to windows and solid walls, can loosen the glue and make it easy to wipe off.
Option 4: Rug Spot-Cleaner
Simply sprinkle baking soda on grease spots and let that sit for about an hour. Then gently scrub the spot with a damp sponge or brush and vacuum everything up.
You can also use baking soda as an overall carpet cleaner and deodorizer by mixing up:
1/2-cup of cornstarch
1/2-cup of baking soda
Sprinkle this over your carpets and let it sit overnight, then vacuum it up the next morning.
Option 5: Shower Door Cleaner
A bit of baking soda on a damp sponge is great for wiping down glass shower doors. Just rinse with warm water.
You can also mix:
1 cup of baking soda
1/2-cup of vinegar
Use the resulting paste to clean your tub and the shower door, cutting down on mold, mildew and soap scum.
Option 6: Jewelry Cleaner
Use a baking soda and hydrogen peroxide paste to cleanse the dirt from even your most delicate jewelry with little effort and great results.
You can also soak your jewelry overnight in a mixture of vinegar and water.
05/22/2009: Tim from LA, CA writes: "After reading this previous post on vingar and baking soda cleaner I made my own all purpose cleaner with Baking soda, Vinegar, Hydro peroxide and water. After cleaning my kitchen sink with it I noticed that my coffee mug was very stained and I thought that I spay it with my new cleaner and let it sit before washing it. Well, I forgot the mug and the next morning drank my coffee from this mug without washing it first. After my morning coffee I remembered what I did night before. It must have had some of the cleaning liquid still in it- but no problem. I am probably healthier for drinking the cleaning liquid with my coffee :-). I would not recommend doing this with a normal store bought cleaning agent.

You know those things are all nasty chemicals to cover up your garbage or sneakers or whatever it is that smells bad. I'd take the bad smell any day rather than make my home toxic with that stuff. Baking soda?!?! Cmon! How did we forget this stuff? Dust it any place there's a bad smell. Vacuum it up from the carpet or your furniture. Leave it in the bottom of your garbage can. Sprinkle some in your hamper to take all that stink away and then let the washer wash it out. Honestly its so much better than the awful perfumes they put in those spray cans that smell like death in can to me!
