My worries are about my weight, honestly I am satisfied with my weight and don't want to loose it. is there any suggestion for taking this remedy and not loosing weight? Also am concerned about few feedbacks, does this remedy leeds to anemia?

Thanks for your interest and for the effort done in this website.
Regards to all."

08/15/2008: Liza (liza_alterna@yahoo.com) from Manila, Philippines replies: "Hi! I have the same thing. I used ACV plus BS plus water for one week. I now have white-coated tongue and I still have halitosis. I am starting to worry. But Ted says it usually stabilizes in 2 to 3 weeks. So, I'll wait for it to be better."

ACV AND BAKING SODA FIRST THING IN THE MORNING OKAY?

08/12/2008: Rana writes: "Dear TED, thank you for sharing with all of us your wonderfull remedies, god bless you and your family..

My friend has acidic/ spicy taste on her tongue and throat, after I read about your remedies and suggest her to take 2 tsp Apple Cider Vinegar and 1/4 tsp baking Soda + glass of water (room temperature) and tsp of honey but I have very important question, do we take it before meals?(honestly i want to try it also just for the well beeing) in the morning should we take it first think before any thing. the acid will not hurt the stomach? Appreciate your prompt reply."

08/23/2008: Rusty from New York, NY, USA replies: "ACV/Baking Soda Recipe question that I couldn't find the answers to anywhere else:

a) It's talked about having this remedy on an empty stomach, but does it matter how soon after taking this one should or shouldn't eat?

b) Can Baking Powder be substituted for Baking Soda? If yes, then does the amount used need to be altered as Baking Soda is pure Sodium Bicarbonate?

Thanks in advance

WOULD ACV AND BAKING SODA HELP HYPERACIDITY?

07/24/2008: Rayman writes: "First I would like to thank you for coming up this site. It's been wonderful to have found this and the site name really fits.

I would like to ask if ACV w/ baking soda works for my hyperacidity problem? I was diagnosed for hyperacidity last january. I was prescribed with antibiotic and PPI's which works a month ago after taking it but then after a few weeks it comes back again and I think because of my eating habit. I know taking those over the counter medicine has some bad effects in the long run. So I'm just wondering if ACV w/ BS works for my problem? How would I take it? I also read from other sites that Olive Oil is best for hyperacidity, is this true? is it okey to combine it? taking 1 tbsp Olive oil 30 minutes before meal and take ACV w/ Baking soda before bed time? I hope this will help me because I really want to be cured the natures way. Thank You and God Bless."

07/25/2008: Alain from Ottawa, Canada replies: "Hi Rayman

The following may help you as well as others as acidosis come with modern way of life, especially modern way of eating.

The most dramatic thing that happened to me was the understanding of the pH balance and its effect on gout. You don't have gout, but you already know that you have to improve your body's pH.

The theory:
The concept is similar to that of the body requiring constant internal temperature; the blood must be at an almost constant pH level in order for chemical, bio-chemical, and hormonal reactions to proceed appropriately. The body will do everything to achieve this at the cost of making acidic the lymphatic system and other organs, if the nutrition does not provide for the necessary good nutrition. Like, for example, drinking a lot of soft drinks is terribly acidic. So, proper body's pH balance is a prerequisite for good health.

I would strongly suggest you to buy pH paper strips and measure the pH of at least your urine. It's not expensive and is a good investment. It will help you determine if after taking action, you are going into the right direction. pH of 7 is neutral. pH lower than 7 indicates acidity. Urine pH should be between 6.5 and 7.0. You will probably see that yours might be below 6.5. If so, I think it will indicate that you are in the acidosis pathway.

There are solutions you can take, I will provide more info later. But the drinks are for short term only. You know that you will have to modify your nutrition. There is just no escaping that.
First some info about the pH balance.:

http://www.selfgrowth.com/articles/Murphy8.html
These are just a few of what can be found in the web.
Reduce sugar, industrial food, especially soft drinks. To reduce one unit of acid, it may require five to twenty unit of alkali.

In the short term, if you want a quick fix go to: http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/alkalizing_formulas.html
for some info about alkalizing formulas.
If one is overweight and/or has water retention problem, use a formula using potassium bicarbonate so to better achieve a proper sodium/potassium balance.

The most basic formulas is a mix of an acid with a base in a glass of water.

The acid may come from Apple Acid Vinegar, Lemon juice, Lime juice.

The base comes from the sodium bicarbonate (aka baking soda) and optionally, with the addition of potassium bicarbonate. I favour a formula containing both as opposed to just sodium bicarbonate.

The easiest is just the formula with ACV and sodium bicarbonate. But try one. If one gets relieve, then acidity is certainly the problem.

Now I would suggest for the long term a formula that is better because it provides for a whole spectrum of minerals, most notably calcium and magnesium. If you suffered from hyper-acidity for some times, it means that the body is taking the missing alkaline elements from reserves to counteract the acidity. On the long run, organs and bones will suffer. The new formula, which is somehow similar to EC youth formula http://www.earthclinic.com/Remedies/fountain_of_youth.html#FOYOUTH2, may provide the minerals to replenish the cumulated deficit of alkaline minerals.

You can find that formula and other protocols for alkalizing the body at the following:

08/04/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "I once had hyperacidity from something that was totally unexpected a decade earlier: aspartame. It was causing the neurological damage which lead to hyperacidity. It took more than about three weeks to reverse this condition to some extent, through the use of vitamin B complex, especially B1, B3, and B6, often in the form of B50 B complex taken for about more than 2 weeks. That was also followed by taking fairly large doses of baking soda such as 1/2 teaspoon four to eight times a day, plus some potassium bicarbonate. A more effective form I found later was the use of sodium citrate (trisodium citrate) and potassium citrate (tripotassium citrate) which had a better effect in alkalizing both the urinary and salivary pH. It takes about at least three weeks, but often longer to reversed this condition. However, one of the main causes of hyperaciditiy is the exposure to gasoline fumes, pollution, fungus, paint thinner, excitotoxins (in aspartame and other amino acids), also. Reducing processed food especially coke, where benzene is found in high amounts from the added sodium benzoate, but are also found in many frozen and processed foods are also a big problem. During hyperacidity, sugar is something I would avoid as well as many acid forming foods such as meats and switch the diet to 90% vegetarian diet. Olive oil may not help directly, but it is safer than vegetable oils since they are not subjected to oxidation during cooking and doesn't become toxic to the body because they have a higher boiling points than most other vegetable oils. In general, I would rather avoid consuming vegetable oils in general and take almost daily or twice daily fish oils. Fish oils, omega 3 type 2 reduce brain inflammation, which in turn reduces acidity of the body, but supplements which supports neural system may play a role in resolving hyperacidity such as vitamin B complex, and possibly selenium too. Still the basic remedy I have used is the baking soda, apple cider vinegar and baking soda, trisodium citrate, tripotassium citrate for example are the major remedies I would consider first, while avoiding acid forming foods and common toxins such as artificial sweeteners.

Ted"

DOSAGE QUESTION

06/06/2008: Andrew writes: "Hello. I had a question about the ACV/Baking soda dosage. If I only take the ACV/BS for 5 days, is it okay to continue the other two days with just ACV? Or does this require you to completely stop altogether. Thanks Ted. I appreciate the info greatly and I believe so does everyone who visits the site."

ACV AND BAKING POWDER QUESTIONS

06/06/2008: Mukesh writes: "Good Day. I like your site but I have question about ACV-what kind should I get for my 7 and 9 years children's and also explain me what type of baking powder brand should I get in Canada?"

06/07/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Baking powder cannot be used. Only baking soda can be used, a chemical name is sodium bicarbonate. The baking powder used different because it doesn't have sodium bicarbonate and they add other thing too. So I would read the labels that say "sodium bicarbonate".

The ACV and baking soda therefore is 2 tablespoon ACV plus 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water usually 2 or 3 times a day. This is the adult dose. So if a children, with 1/2 weight of 100 pounds, their dose will usually be 1/2 dose mentioned here. But if they are 1/3 of weight, then it's 1/3 of the dose."

06/12/2008: Tracy from Kitchener, Canada replies: "I live in Canada, and have found aluminum free baking powder at the Super Store in the organic section. The brand name is "El Peto". It cost just over $3.00"

TWO DAYS OFF ACV AND BS REQUIRED?

05/12/2008: Preci writes: "I have been using Ted's remedy for 7 days now. The first 5 days I took 1/2citric acid and 1/2 baking soda twice daily and magnesium and vit. E at night for 5days. I notice irritating water coming out of my private part and my urine has unpleasant odour.I am weak and my body lighteness. Leaving 2 days intervals. The first 2 days in the next 5 days, I took 2 teaspoonful ACV and 1/4 baking soda with water, but the 2nd day I feeling burning at my gall bladder area which lasted for few seconds and disappear. I also took some vit. such as vit. C & E, B6, B12, Folic Acid at the rate of 1 hour intervals to ACV & Baking soda and 30 mins. inbetween others, because of the weakness I experience in the first week of this medication. So I am worried about the burning on the second day. Please advise"

IS ACV AND BAKING SODA SAFE DURING PREGNANCY?

04/24/2008: Karen writes: "My daughter has been having acid reflux and I would like to know if it is safe to use during pregnancy. She is 19 weeks pregnant. She had an addiction to Crystal Meth previous to her becoming pregnant and so I assume her body will still be quite acidic. So, I am wondering if the ACV and baking soda will help with the acid reflux as well as her ph levels. Thanks, Karen"

HOW DO I SCHEDULE MULTIPLE REMEDY TREATMENTS?

02/10/2008: Anonymous writes: "Hi, have been using apple cider vinegar, 2 tbsp with 1/2 tsp of baking soda 3x day for two months. My fibromyalgia pain is much reduced as well as my rheumatoid arthritis pain. I am still taking pain medication but much less. Just went to the doctor this week and my LDL, HDL cholesterol, and triglycerides are normal (when I started the ACV, I took myself off of my cholesterol pill). I would not suggest someone else to take themselves off their prescribed medications. I also stopped taking my gut motility medication (domperidone 3x day) for irritable bowel syndrome and no problems anymore with diarhea, constipation bloating or gut pain. I am an insulin dependant type 2 diabetic as well and my blood sugars are slowly improving with the ACV and BS (ie. post prandial sugars are improving). I can't thank you enough Ted! Thankyou, Thankyou!

I would like to try using food grade h2o2 diluted down to 3% for my fibro and chronic fatigue. Would it help depression? I am unable to use it three times a day as suggested on many web sites, due to the fact I take medications orally 4 times a day and ACV and BS 3x day. It is difficult to incorporate h2o2 3x day. There is no time. I would like to take it first thing in the morning. How many drops a day should I take? Last week I was diagnosed with rosacea. I do not want to take tetracycline for months. Nor do I want the Metrogel (Flagyl). I am using evening primrose oil. My other supplements include a pharmaceutical grade fish oil, multivite, magnesium/malic acid, b complex, vitamin c, vitamin e, selenium, calcium/magnesium/zinc. I also drink reverse osmosis water with borax as you mentioned. I am unsure how to apply the borax and peroxide to my face?

One other item is that I have in the last two weeks been experiencing headaches and my blood pressure is 140/86 to 160/100. This is quite disturbing as my bp has always been normal with the use of monopril. I was looking forward to weaning myself off the bp medication. I have decreased the baking soda added to my ACV to 1/4 tsp and I have stopped using sea salt in my water. Any ideas? I use a low sodium diet and do not use fast foods or processed foods. I do not use sugar or any sweetners other than stevia. I used to use sweetners when diagnosed with diabetes and they exacerbated my Fibro and rheumatoid arthritis pain. I stay away from white flour. My diet consists of a bit of chicken and fish, fruits, legumes and vegetables. I can only tolerate 30 minutes of exercise daily. One last thing is that my neurocognitive function is decreasing. I have trouble with short and long term memory, problem solving skills, increased brain fog and feeling spacey with trouble thinking and expressing myself (this letter has taken me forever to write),difficulty following simple instructions, easily distracted, difficulty remembering names of objects etc. Any ideas? Sorry for the long letter. Keep up the good work Ted and God Bless."

REPORTED SIDE EFFECTS

01/12/2008: Mary writes: "I having taking ACV/Baking Soda, 2 Tbsp and 1/2 tsp respectively, twice a day for three days now.' I've had weird feelings in my mouth, lips, and eyes.' Then tonight, my face suddenly started to feel like it was buring and then my tongue and lips started to tingle.  Now my whole mouth, including my teeth tingles and my eyes are burning.  The face has cooled somewhat.  I was wondering am I having an allergic reaction to this remedy?  I've been checking my pH all day with a strip and it's been very good, not acidic, whereas yesterday, it was very acidic.  So I'm so down because I was actually feeling so hopeful, and now this.  I'm a little scared right now...thank you for your answers."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Mary: Although most people won't experience the acidity that you are experiencing. The alkalizing effect can in some instances causes the body to release stored acid waste which doesn't happen that much, but more likely a rare allergic reaction to apple cider vinegar. Certain brands do happen, whenever some unscrupulous manufacturers add preservatives, or toxins were introduced in the manufacturing process.

In any case in that event, I will just keep it simple and try 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda plus 1/8 teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate (or potassium citrate) in 1/2 glass of water. I will also take some magnesium citrate 250 mg taken only 4 days out of a week. This will at least keep most of those electrolytes in balance. A maintenance dose of magnesium might then be taken for only once or twice a week. A potassium, once it is in place will be taken maybe twice a week or once a week. However, it takes about 2-3 weeks for the body to achieve equilibrium which whatever stored acid is in the body. And hence a simpler baking soda (and some potasium) plus the use of this as a mouthwash in the initial week or two should resolve nearly all of the problems from such use.

Potassium is responsible for controlling pH of saliva, so a dietary low in potassium might be responsible for the acid saliva, while the sodium for most of the extracellular fluids.

The other thing I have found helpful in more stable pH (mostly it's the thiamine B1, there are others), is the vitamin B complex, the B50 form where most of the vitamin Bs are 50 mg each. Those are taken, at least initially about 3 or 4 days in a row, then thereafter, once a week as a maintenance dose.

It is very difficult to cover every aspects of metabolic acidosis, but one area has to do with irregular breathing, ideally at 10 breaths per minute. So counting just only on the inhale side, comes to about 10 inhale/minute, or inhale every 6 seconds which also is exhale every 6 seconds. By doing this the body can quickly alkalize itself further.

One common denominator of metabolic acidosis, I have found was triggered with eating certain restaurant foods, white bread, white flour, bad car traffic (carbon monoxide), kerosine oil heating, defective hot water heater improperly burned (carbon monoxide), using too much paints (certain methanol are used as thinner), and other hydrocarbon poisoning. In some cases I thought it was apple cider vinegar and baking soda causing the problem, but further investigating I found to be common toxins that I have overlooked, such as sudden acidosis from just eating an overcooked barbeque beef, or something as innocuous as eating a loaf of raisin bread. The reason I know this is during one of my many experiments, I take notes into the acid reaction from eating common foods. The most dangerous one is that sometimes companies, or even certain restaurants inappropriately added aspartame which can cause the body to be acid for many weeks.

The antidote, that I have found from these poisons is sodium thiosulfate which neutralizes most of these poisons but still the vitamin B complex is needed to help the body recover too. The dose varies, but a nice conservative dose of sodium thiosulfate 10% solution is about 5-10 drops per glass of water. Of course in event of a poisoning from alloxan in the bread, and other toxins, I may need more such as one small crystals of sodium thiosulfate in a 1/2 glass of water. Initially it will have some laxative effect when the body detoxifies, but the nice thing about it is it improves the skin complexion the very next day as toxins are reduced and this is reflected in the skin condition.

The sodium thiosulfate can be obtained from an aquarium fish shop, clearly labeled, without food coloring, and it's concentration, while unlabeled are usually 5-20%. It smells like rotten egg. It is also sold in swimming pool suppliers and camera supply shops labeled as hypo. This is not to say I recommend anything, I usually buy them from a chemical suppliers usually USP grade, or B.P. grade sodium thiosulfate as being the most practical. While the others, I might use them for external purposes, such as in a bathtub to help detoxify.

An appropriate substitute if sodium thiosulfate can't be located anywhere or a close one is the soy milk which has sulfides which reduces toxins caused by metabolic acidosis. A 1/4 piece bar of baking chocolate, which is unsweetened, and 100% cocoa, can also have a positive aspect on pH too, but then I don't take it that often for the chocolate, I take it when I need them. It's the flavonoids antioxidant that help normalizes the problematic pH, from all the toxins introduced in our food and water, such as chlorinate and fluoridated water (yes it causes the body's pH to be acid), getting a cold virus (it inflames the gladular system that controls the blood sugar, hence an effect on pH). This is just a bird's eye view of what is going on.

Finally it helps to detoxify further with maybe some iodine drops (5 drops per 1/2 glass of water) used as a mouthwash for once or twice a week, and perhaps a maintenance once a week at least so that the iodine will detoxify and I have seen to further help normalize problematic pH.

These I have mentioned is advance pH control, if I should blood sugar problem or a victim of chemical toxins found in food. Aspartame is the most dangerous of them all in both blood sugar and metabolic acidosis. Painters as an occupation have short lives because of methanol alcohol, which works similarly with aspartame, as well as paint thinners that gets absorbed in the skin and can lead a lifelong metabolic acidosis with all the sickness of CFS, yeast infection, fungus growth, whenever they are uncontrollable. Hope this helps!"

MARY FOLLOWS UP:
1/16/2008: Mary from Los Angeles, CA "Just wanted to say that once I took the apple cider vinegar out and took the baking soda alone as Ted suggested, the pains and burning in my face and mouth area stopped. I guess I was having a negative (allergic?) reaction to the ACV. Thanks to Ted. I also need to get the rest of the supplements and the potassium citrate to add to the baking soda and I will let everyone know how it goes. My pH has not stabilized yet, but it hasn't gone to the 5.0 range (where my pH was before starting baking soda). I've also started to drink soy milk and grinding my vitamins and I can't say for sure yet, but my hair loss does seem to be under control."

TWO DAYS OFF ACV AND BS REQUIRED?

12/13/2007: Bob writes: "I was reading a post by Ted about how often to take ACV and baking soda, to treat acid reflux but it was unclear whether his recommendation applied only to this condition or in general to anyone (I do not have acid reflux) using his ACV/BS formula (see below). Specifically he said take it 5 days a week and take two days off. Does this apply to everyone - should everyone NOT take ACV/BS more than 5 days a week? HOW OFTEN SHOULD YOU TAKE THIS FORMULA IF YOU HAVE ACID REFLUX? Take this formula 2 - 3 three times a day on an empty stomach. SHOULD YOU TAKE IT EVERY DAY? No, take it for 5 days, then stop for 2 days."

EASY MIXTURE METHOD?

12/10/2007: C writes: "I am a thirty year old female who has had a complete hysterectomy. Ever since, I have had to urinate very frequently. I get up several times a night and it is becoming a nuisance to say the very least. When the urge strikes I have to go immediately. I've never wet myself or anything like that. I just want to know how to keep from feeling like I always have to go to the restroom and getting up several times a night without going on a prescription medicine."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "This was done in the past, until someone took too much baking soda and I realized that the pH was near 8 using this method. The reason is simple: the baking soda's pH is about 8 and adding baking soda will reach this equilibrium, not the 7.

The problems is that the bubbles will continually form as you add more and more baking soda beyond the pH of 7 up to near 8 pH. Because of this problem I decided to make a 2 tablespoon apple cider vinegar with 1/4 teaspoon baking soda standard, where pH is around 7, if not that well reacted, but in a more serious case of acid reflux a remedy can be modified to 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, in 1/2 glass of water, since more alkalinity was needed, but its pH were about 7. However, it is best to used a tablespoon and teaspoon measure, whenever or for those who simply don't have a pocket pH meter handy, which in most cases do not."

COUGH CAUSED BY BAKING SODA?

11/24/2007: TP writes: "I was taking baking soda for general reasons, creating an alkaline environment, staying thin. For some reason, I ended up with a cough for over a week and I think it was caused by the baking soda. I was taking the remedy 2 times a day. 1/8 baking soda and 2 Tbsp ACV with water. Maybe I took it for too many days. I felt good taking it, I even looked thinner. But after getting this cough, I started to think maybe the baking soda was such not a good idea after all. Was this effecting my lungs? It is a cleaning agent, it neutralizes acids in the body. But is it really good for the body the way it is considered to be good for cleaning your kitchen, laundry, or even an agent for clogging drains? It's a pretty powerful chemical. What if this chemical is eating away at our delicate tissues? What if it causes vitamin deficiency. I challenge you to prove to me this is actually good for anyone's health. Thank you."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Most of the problems I received were from the acid portion of the apple cider vinegar. If I just take sea salt with baking soda, or just baking soda, the cough should not occur, if the pH were always 7 or above. In some rare cases certain brands of apple cider vinegar are quite acid.

In your case you weren't following the instructions, at least mine anyway. The remedy calls for 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda with 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in at least 1/2 glass of water. A remedy you were doing the pH is about 5 which is very acid. The 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda is relatively neutral, but not for 1/8 when it meets up with the acid portion of the apple cider vinegar. The acid is what bacteria and viruses grows under, its generally an ideal medium for them, at least in culture dishes I prepare when I was a student of microbiology.

Therefore, I would either change to the 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water or just 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda plus 2 tablespoon Apple Cider vinegar in 1/2 glass of water (at least) as per instruction. In case someone might be wondering what is the remedy for cough, the best single remedy for coughs is peppermint oil, 4 drops and keep in the mouth for half a minute before the swallow. Breathe in from mouth and exhale would clear up the sinuses too. Viral sinuses have a habit of going to the throat to cause it. The coughs stops it instantly and works better than any cough syrup I have tried. The secret is that there is NO SUGAR in a home remedy.

If any cough syrup manufacturing is listening to me (most don't) add the xylitol. It works a lot better, if you want them sweet and never forget the menthol or peppermint oil. Camphor is strongly anti-inflammatory for throat disease even in tiny amounts. Although a home remedy can't go that far, it is too complicated for most people. How peppermint works is that the viruses are neutralized in presence of menthol content and are thus inactivated. It also helps if the body is stronger too, with some once a week vitamin B50 and vitamin E. When the body is trong, the immune system is good."

HIATAL HERNIA UNRESPONSIVE

11/22/2007: Jaques writes: "I am 58, have had a lifetime of stomach problems - now diagnosed with hiatal hernia/acid reflux, taking omeprazol, 40mg a day, main problem is always have loose stools and worst very sore eosophagus/throat, had biopsy on what looked like Barrets but negative. However, dont like taking pills, tried 2 tbls acv with 1/4 tsp bicarb soda in 1/2 glass water for 5 days lst thing and last thing at night on empty stomach - also did oil pulling - immediately on drinking the remedy my eosophagus/throat hurt even with bicarb added, my mouth which has burned, esp my tongue, for 10 yrs, became even more sore and the "runs" worsened. first I thought it would improve but I couldn't sleep at all, felt agitated and as I have very high BP which medication isn't helping, I decided to go back on the stomach pills. Having read peoples positive results I felt sure acv would help me with my stomach/BP and high cholestorol - I eat a very healthy diet, dont smoke, exercise, am slim, I really dont know what to do next or why this acv works for so many and makes me worse - if anyone has any ideas Id be grateful? Thank you"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Jaques: Many people have very high acidity stored inside the cells. Whenever baking soda is taken, the acid from the inside the cells get out, causing that problem. The original remedy I posted is for a very mild condition, not the industrial sized hiatal hernia, which requires more effective remedy.

The most effective remedy is 1/4 teaspoon of sodium citrate plus 1/4 teaspoon of potassium citrate taken about three times a day in 1/2 glass of water. The acid tongue should not be noted. The other reason why the acid tongue exists was because ACV was added. If it was removed, the condition of acid tongue would be reduced.

However, if sodium citrate and potassium citrate cannot be found, another rmedy might be close (albeit less effective but definitely better than ACV and baking soda), which is 2 tablespoon of lime juice, plus 1/2 baking soda in 1/2 glass of water. It should be noted that the best way to find whether it works was whether the urinary pH (using the electronic pocket pH meter) is going to near 7 after taking the baking soda remedy in 1 hour or so.

My remedy were rather mild to avoid side effects mostly from assumed minor ailments rather than major ones like hiatal hernia. Finally certain bacteria and other microbes that lead to hiatal hernia, may be further destroyed with 500 mg of magnesium citrate a day, for 5 days out of a week. I cannot guarantee that complete healing is possible, but at least getting rid of certain microbes that is eating away into the body, if it is killed, won't progress further. However, if certain organism is fungal related, a borax remedy might work, such as 1/8 teaspoon of borax in one liter of drinking water, taken everyday for only 4 days out of a week may notice improvement. My experience however seems to be more of the magnesium end than the boron end (boron is found in borax). It should be noted that many minerals such as zinc, magnesium, boron, and silver (colloidal silver, tetra silver) are all good antibiotics, including alkalization, and sea salt (sodium chloride). The problem I found is the proper use of them and its availability of them that is a common problem."

SHOULD I WORRY ABOUT BONE DEGENERATION?

11/10/2007: Ramila writes: "Dear Sir, I was very excited about your site. I have been taking apple cider vinegar with soda bicarbonate and feel really very good. I was taking it for osteoarthirits. it has helped me a lot. i have very less knee pains now. Recently, I met a doctor friend and told him what I have been taking for my knee pains. Unfortunately, he said that soda bicarbonate is not good to use it for long term and also said that it degenerates your bones in long term. Can you please, please let me know if this is true. I don't want to stop taking this formula as I do feel good. Regards, Ramila"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Ramila, I have been taking soda for about 35 years now. So if anyone with a severe bone problem, it has got to be me.

The issue is that this news is not true. Basically an osteporosis or osteoarthritis are due to a mycobacterium which exists in an acidic state bound to the bones calcium. If the body is sufficiently alkaline, the bone pain reduces. The baking soda does not reduce the calcium. Baking soda is a bicarbonate which buffers the body against pH fluctuation so the body can protect itself against the mycobacterium. The major weakness of the mycobacterium IS the bicarbonates. In fact if the body is sufficiently alkaline, it will not cause the acidic blood to eat the bone. One easy example to illustrate is if you put chicken bones in a vinegar (acidic) for about a month, or even an egg shell, the acid vinegar will REMOVE THE CALCIUM from the chicken bone. A long term acid state of the body is much like a chicken bone in a vinegar. The calcium is removed BY ACIDITY, not by alkalization. Thus the alkalization will reduce any leeching effect of the blood in removing the calcium from your bones, very much like acid rain that eats through Greek statues. The fact is, alkalization protects against calcium from leeching from the bones because it is the acid that eats through the calcium.

[Ted continues in a second letter:]
It should be noted other remedies that is very useful against this conditions are vitamin D3, vitamin K2, magnesium citrate 250 mg/month and an ocassional borax remedy. Vitamin D is synthesized by adults or even someone who is 60 years old, has only 1/6 of a children. Vitamin K and vitamin K2 (commonly found in Natto japanese soy fermented products) are also helpful against it because of its anti mycobacterium properties that causes the condition as well as being synergistic with the vitamin D. Mangesium is a important because for the body to properly utilize the calcium, it needs two magnesium molecules. However, magnesium also have a unique, and not yet well known properties against mycobacterium that exists in the bone, and kill them too, thus reducing the condition. Certain staph like bacteria that exists in the ligaments of the joint, eats through this and taking plenty of magnesium will also kill those bacterium that eats through the ligament. Borax is one other remedy I cannot do without. Anytime I don't take it for months, I get a bone problem, especially my knee. The borax remedy I used is 1/4 teaspoon per liter of drinking water, possibly taking up to 5 days a week if it is serious, but a relatively bening dose of once a week is sufficient. Women seems to need less, than 1/4, and 1/8 is the common remedy that I used, although not taken everyday. Borax is one of the most common remedy (along with baking soda and magnesium, but never denying vitamin D) against ostearthritis, and other similar bone condition. It should be noted that the basic remedy to this condition I have always consider baking soda to be the most important, that the condition won't work itself out, if this is not used."

SHOULD I LIMIT MY DOSAGE?

10/15/2007: Sandy writes: "I was having burning and have long suffered with heartburn. I tried the ACV, baking soda and honey last night and it did feel much better. This morning I had a second dose - this time with the organic cider vinegar - but I immediately had the "runs" -. I am wondering if I should cut back to one tablespoon of ACV since constipation has never been one of my problems - just the opposite. The burning feels a bit better and I am belching a lot but I wonder if I should limit dosage?"

SODIUM ISSUES

09/29/2007: Anonymous writes: "Hi Ted Thanks for your email. I am sorry but I have further questions, which I do hope you would do me the favour of answering:

1)Can orange juice be had instead of lemon for potassium and also as she is taking other prescription medication like pressure first thing in the morning, how long before/after can the ACV be taken.

2)Does baking soda adversely affect the bones etc.

3)Regarding myself I took the 2 tablespoons ACV and mixed with 1/4 teaspoon baking soda and a glass of water twice a day, but found that I was feeling a weak/tired and my pressure is normally low. Also I rubbed some ACV neat on the rash on my face and it got worse. Although I read that ACV is an overall tonic, but am a bit cautious of taking it. What is the minimum amount one can have just for a supplement?

Thank you in advance for taking the time to reply"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Anonymous:

1. Lemon is better than orange due to its highervitamin C content, and higher citric acid, which isdesireable.

2. Baking soda is actually good for the bones, pleasesee research abstract posted below this emal. Theproblem is the halogens, chlorides, bromines, fluorines, which cause high blood pressure.

3. The apple cider vinegar and baking soda reducesblood pressure. That's why. To normalize bloodpressure, some sea salt can be added such as 1/16teaspoon, and reduce the apple cider vinegar by 1/2 oruse only the baking soda. A newer remedy that has lesseffect on changes in blood pressure is just 1/4teaspoon of baking soda alone in 1/2 glass of water. Ihave a friend who has blood pressure something like90/60, which is quite low. The problem came from apersistently septicemia, which at the time I did notknow were from her cavities (she didn't tell me) but Irecognized it and killed the septicemia with a simpleaspirin and that raise blood pressure. Her septicemiawas characterized with high body temperature, someheadaches and dizziness. At other times of low bloodpressure, the 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt dissolved inone glass of water helped normalized the bloodpressure too. Of course raising blood pressure theeasy way is to use a common table salt, but myunwillingness came from the aluminum additives theyused here, but it does the job. A sea salt I think isa better one, while it won't exactly raise the bloodpressure, it does normalize them."

SODIUM ISSUES

09/28/2007: Anonymous writes: "Hi Ted Hope you are doing well. I came upon the Apple Cider Vinegar website by chance. I was searching for natural cures to various ailments. My mother (who is in her 70s) is taking over 6 tabs daily for high blood pressure, cholesterol, sugar, arthritis, osteroprosis etc. I am getting concerned about their side effects. I want her to start taking some ACV instead and do away with the prescription pills. However I also read that ACV undiluted can acid tongue. Given that she cannot have baking soda due to her high blood pressure. Would drinking a diluted solution of only 2 tablespoons of ACV in a cup of water or juice, 3 times a day (without the baking soda) be Ok. Regarding myself I had a bit of eczema on my face so I have been presently applying ACV undiluted twice a day. Is this too strong or should it be diluted. Also, thankfully, I do not suffer from any serious ailments, but have been taking 2 table spoons of ACV and 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda twice a day. Is this dosage too strong for just a health supplement. Should I take just l tablespoon of ACV instead and for how long. Please reply soon. Thanks also for all your great work."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "There is one way around people who have sodiumproblem, and another remedy still which should haveminimum problems:

2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, 1/4 teaspoon ofbaking soda plus 1/8 teaspoon of potassium citrate in1/2 glass of water, at least (or 1 glass of water). The addition of potassium will have a stronger portionin lowering blood pressure. This is taken twice a dayon an empty stomach. Another remedy may be more idealas lemon has potassium such as 2 tablespoon of lemonjuice plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass ofwater at least (1 is more ideal), taken twice a day.The content of the potassium in lemon juice and sodiumshould be within a general biological parameters thatis acceptable to the body without negatively affectingthe body and may help reduce some tightness.

The cholesterol and high blood pressure should betaken care of to some extent with one tablespoon ofgranulated lecithin with a meal. This should helpemulsify the fat and remove the cholesterol. Usuallymost of the cholesterol comes from clams and oysters, however it can also come from fried foods. In generalthe body simply can't metabolize the cholesterols intohormone and steroids. A vitamin B complex takengenerally every other day may help somewhat inreducing the cholesterol issue by metabolizin intouseful hormones that may help some blood pressure. However the one that has most benefit appears to bethe B1 thiamine and B2 (riboflavin), B3 (niacinamide)B5 (panthenol), and B8 (inositol). The B1 thiamine andB3 niacinamide is most helpful in sugar problems and if sugar are controlled, a blood pressure is somewhatunder control. Heavy foods should be avoided duringdinner almost completely, especially worse is frenchfries, potato chips, balogna, salami, cheeze andpizza. Tuna fish, tuna sandwiches using whole wheatmay help the body have enough proteins needed to burnthe fat somewhat and rebuild damage cells. Taurineamino acids in fishes are also helpful for weightloss."

IS BAKING SODA CONTAMINATED?

09/18/2007: RDS writes: "Hello Ted, Please advise if ascorbic acid can be mixed with baking soda to make it ascorbate. I bought ascorbic acid in bulk and it makes my sinus flare up Thanks"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Yes it becomes an ascorbate. If it flares up, not enough baking soda was added to make a pH of the solution about 7.5. It should taste like water, or slightly bitter in taste, not sour. Some Vitamin E and should help.

If nothing works I might try some zinc 50 mg and 250
mg bht supplements. "

STORAGE QUESTION

09/05/2007: Bertha writes: "Ted Can I mix acv and baking soda lemon and honey; put in frig and drink through out the day and can I make enough like for a week and just keep drinking it or does it lose its potential?"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Whenever ACV and baking soda is mixed, it should be used at once, otherwise, it will spoil, as the pH of the solution is within biologically active parameters of 7.0 - 7.5 pH. The longest it can store is only one day and that's when it is refrigerated in a closed container. I won't keep this solution longer than a day. Most people tend not to like the smell of ACV and will add other things. The problem about that is, the sugar in honey may not be advantageous. I would prefer to add orange oil or other flavorings such as lemon oil, clove oil, etc. One small exceptions in adding honey is that not too much can be added, only a small amount and the honey sugar content should not exceed 5% maximum, but this means drinking at least 1/2 glass of water should reduce the content so the blood sugar is not affected, assuming of course that ACV is used at 2 tablespoons plus 1/4 teaspoon baking soda in 1/2 glass. If honey is added, then the water should be added to full glass, for example."

BAKING SODA SIDE EFFECTS

09/01/2007: K writes: "Hello, I had tried at first just AVC with honey and that seemed to work real well with my heartburn and digestion. I would take it after meals. However, now I am experiencing stomach pain and extreme bloating that is painful and I feel nauseas. I have read your remedy of just using the baking soda and water and would like to try it. I have a question though...is it possible to be acidic and not have enough acid to digest your food? I have been diagnosed with Celiac disease, GERD, IBS, and hiatal hernia and I am miserable as I have been dealing with this for over seven years now and it dramatically affects my every day life. Any insight would be so grately appreciated. Thanks in advance?"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Using ACV with honey initially will bring some relief, but the condition won't cure whatever ailments in thelong run as it won't resolve the underlying conditionsor normalize the body's biochemical disordersespecially the pH which still perpetuates acidosispromoting growth of candida, GERD, IBS, and hiatalhernia.

These are all of microbial origins and tend toflourish in our intestinal tract, stomach andesophagal tracts too. A long term problem can alsolead to IBS, resulting in leaky gut syndrome.

In additional to dietary imbalances such as lack ofzinc and magnesium, which neutralizes certainmicrobes, can ultimately end up with ulcerativecolitis.

The remedy and the cures are simple enough. All youneed to remember is the analogy where microbes is toplant, and your body's fluids is to fertilizers andsoil.

Your body's fluids pH (acid), nutrition (sugar andfats) provides the essentials environment necessaryfor microbial growth. Microbes need extremely highenergy foods, such as sugar and fats. In order toefficiently break down fats to energy or sugar, microbes need a good acid environment to help digestYOU. LOL. Basically you are dancing with the devil.Doing this, Farmer Brown is basically growing bacteriaand fungus while killing off healthy cells. Healthycells live more in an environment of higheralkalinity, lower sugars and lower fats. It should benoted that free radical heavy metals are also neededto decompose foods which can in turn be toxic tohealthy cells too.

Our present social circumstances, at least todayseems to downplay the importance of microbiology asbeing a dead science and antibiotics rules, whilebiochemistry is too esoteric, but those two fieldswere actually the knowledge that was needed to resolvea lot of diseases, including hereditary factors.

Q: is it possible to be acidic and not have enoughacid to digest your food?

Yes. Assuming the body does not have enough dietarybicarbonates to neutralize the digested acid foodsfrom the stomach, then the digested acid food justburns or digest the intestinal tract causing damage, and promoting bacteria to enter the bloodstream, bringing on septicemia or blood poisoning (which Ifound aspirin plus baking soda to be useful here incertain cases as the aspirin when diluted in a glassof water and taken internally digests viral andbacteria too). A weaker form of a slight damage tointestinal tract won't result in septicemia or leakygut syndrome, but can bring on IBS, and in some casesparanoia when combined with B deficiency and acidosisjust the same.

On the opposite of the argument is if the body isalready lacking in bicarbonates anyway and theintestines have insufficient bicarbonates toneutralize the digested food, the body signals thestomach to digest the food slowly or produce LESS acidto prevent damage to the intestines. I should beremembered that the body is quite well coordinated bythe brain and other signals necessary for organs towork in synergy. The analogy is the same as theOlympic gymnasts, but also it is how all organs arealso coordinated just the same. When the stomachproduces less acid to protect the intestinal damage, the food gets digested slowly and fermentation of thestomach results in GERD. Bacteria grows as a result oflow stomach acid, but low stomach acid is not theCAUSE. One simple principle is actually used inmedicine to get your GERD worse necessary to provethat there is GERD, which is basically a sweet fruitdrinks. The fruit drinks is low in pH, making it acid, and fructose are easier to digest FOR THE BACTERIAthan sucrose, being a simpler sugar, while glucose iseasiest of all for any microbes to flourish. The mereact of drinking acid foods will CAUSE the stomach dodigest slowly and BRING ON fermentation. Apparentlythe acidity of the foods signals the stomach to digestthe food more slower than alkaline foods. This isbasically how the stomach works. And it is this veryreason why milk of magnesia, or baking soda, which isan alkaline, causes a laxative effect and reducesconstipation. The longer the wastes stays, theconstipation initiates fermentation and bacterialbuildup."

COULD CURE CAUSE INSOMNIA?

08/24/2007: Keith writes: "Hi Ted: I'm writing because I tried your ACV and baking soda remedy for reflux. I've only just started the regimen, so I can't tell how well it is working, but I have noticed one side effect that concerns me. The ACV has given me more energy, but I';m wondering if it ever causes insomnia? I fell asleep last night at 10:30 and woke up at 3:30 and couldn't go back to sleep. I've never really had any problems with insomnia, in fact, I'm usually quite sleepy all the time. As I said, the ACV seems to be resolving that issue, but I'm worried that it might be giving me too much energy. I know a good night's sleep is important for your health, so I don't want to suffer from losing hours. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks so much, Keith New York, NY"

CURE STOPS BODY ODOR, BUT WHY?

06/19/2007: Janette writes: "I have been having an issue of intense and slightly putrid body odor coming out of my right armpit lately for some bizarre reason. I cannot figure out what is causing it. The thing that has stopped it in about 20 minutes is acv and baking soda remedy. One remedy dose lasts about a day. Now I just have to figure out what is going on in my body to cause this issue! Usually it happens when I have taken a medication or an OTC med like ibuprofen, but I haven't touched anything in months. Another question I have is whether people notice that they have a stronger scent come from one armpit than another?"

CAN I DRINK COFFEE WITH THE CURE?

05/12/2007: Jennifer writes: "I tried the ACV/Baking soda concoction a few weeks back. I have using 2 Tbs ACV and 1/2 Tsp Baking Soda. It has cured my breathing problems. I didn't have anything major, just unable to take full deep breaths sometimes. Also, another good 'side effect' I have had which I just discovered yesterday upon taking off my toe nail polish is that my toe nail fungus has gone away. I know that sounds gross, but I just mean, they used to be a bit discolored to the point where I HAD to wear polish. Well, they are almost clear and I could actually wear flip flops au natural, lol. I am thrilled and really don't think this is a coincidence. Have you ever heard of such a thing? Anyway, it's working, whatever it is. So I am going to keep on taking this solution. I have only been drinking it twice a day. I enjoy it, I know I may be weird, but it's like salty apple soda and I like it! Thank you for this cure. Just wondering though, should I do it 3X a day instead of just morning and evening? And may I drink coffee or milk after it without compromising it's effects (i.e. diluting)?"

ACV AND BAKING SODA

After taking a lot of antibiotics, I developed C Dificil, which took four months to cure. It took an additional year to strengthen my stomach and intestinal tract. Six weeks ago, while traveling in Arizona, I seemed to have had food poisoning in a Mexican restaurant. Within a day or two I developed acid reflux, stomach bloating, and gas. My doctor had me take Prilosec for 20 days, but after stopping the symptoms returned. Can you advise me what combination of apple cider vinegar and baking soda to take and for how long to use it? I want my life back!"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The usual dose is 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, any brand is o.k., and 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken on an empty stomach, taken twice a day once in the morning and once in the evening. As to your skin rash condition on elbow that comes and goes, taking those will also help should help the acid reflux and the skin rashes. An ordinary distilled vinegar or an apple cider vinegar can be applied to the skin to reduce the rashes. Sometimes flaky skin of the elbow you got can be helpd a lot with omega 3 1000 mg, fish oil 1000 mg, vitamin E 200 i.u., and evening primrose oil 1000 mg. Taken initially for a week before paring down the dose to 1 once a week, after taking it for about 1 or 2 weeks."

ACV AND BAKING SODA

A writes: "I am so excited to hear from you! Thank you very much for your guidance, which I will follow. I have one more question concerning the skin rashes. This morning I woke up and had a new rash on the inside of my right arm. It looks like poison ivy and goes from the wrist to the elbow. My mom had a rash like this for many years. She says that it is stress related. She said that the only thing that ever worked for her on this rash is 24 Faubourg lotion by Hermes. I wanted to write you about this, because it is a new rash that came out after starting the apple cider vinegar treatment. By the way, the treatment is already helping my stomach and digestion."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Happy to hear that the remedy is helping the digestion, usually it is the issue of acidosis being the major cause, which the remedy was designed that way. My remedy for poison ivy skin rash is to apply as often as possible a 1% hydrogen peroxide solution. It will neutralize the toxins. Sometimes if hydrogen peroxide is nowhere to be found, apple cider vinegar or an ordinary white distilled vinegar can help too. It should be noted that when you use apple cider vinegar to always add it with baking soda, otherwise you might get rash from the body's lack of bicarbonates and pH buffer to neutralize the acid or at least properly metabolize it."
