<description> Rayrmjaj from Bancroft, Idaho writes: "My dog\'s yeast infection is in her vaginal area. And she has a lot of hair. I have never shaved a dog in that area. Where can I get some help on how to do this. I don\'t believe I can get the vinegar and water to where it needs to be unless I do this. Can you use people medicine on her for the same ailment? The dog food I feed her is low fat low ash \"Pride\".

<description>[YEA] Schnauzergal from Weatherford, Tx, Usa writes: "A lot of you have aske for \"recipes\" of apple cider vinegar mixtures for your dogs with canine yeast infections. I\'ve searched all over the web and here are the ones I\'ve found. I\'ve been using the wipes and they seem to be working. My little gal\'s skin is returning to normal looking and the blackish skin and crust are going away. Today I used the ear solution and will report back in a few weeks to let you know the results. Meanwhile here are the recipes I\'ve found: Vinegar Wipes for Canine Yeast Infections:

What you need: Apple Cider Vinegar (check ingredients for sugar; if sugar is present look at another brand) Clean pure (not tap water) water; 1 oblong Ziplock food storage container or plastic shoe box with lid; good quality paper towels (I use Bounty)

Solution: 1/4 cup ACV; 1 cup pure (not tap) water

Fold paper towels in half and place in the container pour ACV solution over towels and keep covered.

Wipe dog down 2 times a day with damp not soppy towel. Get between toes, all over dark skin areas, vaginal area (not inside). This should start to clean up the skin discoloration pretty quickly.

Vinegar Ear Wash for Yeast Infections in Canines

1 tablespoon of ACV; 1/4 cup pure water (not tap); small jar or container to put solution in; eye dropper

Mix solution, place in container and use dropper to put several drops of solution in each ear. Massage base of each ear after inserting solution. Wipe out with cotton ball NOT A COTTON. SWAB. Use a hair dryer on low heat at about 8 inches from dogs ear to dry up remaining moisture in dogs ear. You might also use the dryer after bathing your dog or after they go for a swim to dry up moisture inside ear. ALWAYS use LOW heat or cool setting for this otherwise you can burn the ear canal and ear.

Vinegar Rinse for Canines with Yeast Infections

2 cups ACV; 2 gal pure water (not tap); large pitcher or jug, pail or pot to hold mixture

Wash dog with anti-fungal shampoo and allow suds to stay on dog for about 15 minutes; Use a rubber brush to scrub dogs skin with shampoo. Rinse with clean water. Then pour ACV solution over your animal and leave on for 5 minutes then rinse off.

Salve for Canine Yeast Infections

2 to 3 drops of Tea Tree Oil; 1 tablespoon Coconut Oil.

Mix and use on skin where animal cannot lick. Do Not Use Tea Tree Oil alone. It will burn the animals skin.

I am not a vet; I\'ve only researched these \"recipes\" from the web in various places. I figure anything is worth a try to stop my gal from scratching herself crazy. Try them, if they work, great if not discontinue.

<description> Sahar from San Pedro, Ca writes: "Systematic Yeast Infection in my dog: HELP!

Hello, Where do I start?? I thought that my soon-to-be 7 yr. old beagle, Sophie, has suffered with allergies the past couple of years. About 9 months ago, these \'allergies\' went off the deep end! Chewing at her paws, licking her paws, butt scooting on the carpet/cement/anywhere, scratching her ears and face, and on and on. It got so bad, that she has the \'cone of shame\' on when I cannot watch her... This is no life for her!! It wasn\'t until I got to the internet and started to do some research, did I come to the conclusion that maybe she has a systematic yeast infection (SYI)! Maybe she also has allergies... most likely to chicken (I think).

Her vet has never even mentioned the possiblitly of her having a SYI. It\'s always she has allergies to something... Give her steroids, antibiotics, benadryl. We tried an elimination diet with Hills Pet Food Z/D for 3 months... and the minute the cone was off she would want to chew her feet raw! Vicous cycle that would go on and on and is still going on and on.

I put her on Orijen\'s Six Fish \'grain-free\' dog food, only to later find out that potatoes and sweet potatoes are a no-no for yeasty dogs. A month later, I changed her to a \'grain-free\' Kangaroo and Lentils food (just in case she is allergic to the chicken, beef, etc. ). I have added organic coconut oil (2 Tbl) a day to her food, and have added 2 Teaspoons of ACV. She was having loose stools, so I added 3 Tbl of canned Pumpkin (not the pie filling type). I recently got the Total-Zymes and the Total-Biotics and have added that to her regimen as well.

I dip her feet in a mixture of water/white vinegar/hydrogen peroxide and pat dry twice a day. I spray this mixture on her privates and belly where it gets pinkish/redish at night. I tried ACV/Water for her ears, but found Zymox and use that now. She still has the cone, and somehow still manages to get to her back paws sometimes and chews them red :( I use Vetericin spray to heal them.

I am seeing like a flemish-mucus lining in her poop in the mornings. Her stools are still soft. Is there anything else I should be doing? Maybe it\'s the food? I have looked and looked for a new food that is made with fish with NO grains/potatoes/tapioca/carrots/etc. that are not good for yeast, but can\'t find anything that is 100% grain-starch free... any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

She is bathed weekly with an allergy shampoo from the vet. She is going to get a full panel thyroid test from Dr. Dodds next week. I have ordered collustrom (sp?), liquid collidal silver for dogs, and a detoxifyer liquid for dogs from all the research.

Do they get worse before getting better? Her paws that I dip twice a day were brownish before, and now getting pinkish-brownish. She itches on top of her paws like crazy when I pat-dry them after her rinse. I want comfort for her and for me! I am overwhelmed and exhausted... And poor Sophie is miserable. Please, anything you have done for your pets with similar issues would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

<description>[YEA] Jill from Womelsdorf, Pa writes: "YEA!!!! I am so glad I found your site. This has been the best info I have found about yeast infections in dogs. I have a 7 year old Parson Russell Terrier who has been showing all the signs of a yeast infection and getting worse ever day. I first thought he had gotten some kind of infection from the new groomer I took him to in November, because that was when I started seeing the redness and the \"pimple like\" bumps on his hind quarters. I started the plain yogurt yesterday and also started spraying the 50/50 mixture of ACV and water. Although he is still scratching and that might take some time, it is greatly reduced. On the real red inflamed areas I have used a small amount of Gold Bond medicated powder, this seems to help. I also changed his diet to Precise Holistic Complete. Thank you, for this solution, he\'s seems happier. The question I do have is he is a rough coat dog and I have been afraid to have him groomed and he is getting quite hairy. Should I wait till this has cleared up more or can I have him cut, we normally have him shaved down with his beard area just cut? Thank you.

<description> Donna Veal from Kingston, Tennessee writes: "I have two English Bulldogs. Mollie and Zoey. They are liter-mates and are 3 yrs old. They\'re big dogs. 76lb and 67lbs.

I took them to the Vet with sympoms that I was unfamilar with... Hair was falling out, strange odor, itchy.. Vet diagnosed them with Yeast Infections. Gave them both 3 pills to take 2x daily. Antibiotic and Fluconazole. That was 2 months and a week ago. She also gave them a shampoo to use. Bathe 1x per week. They were getting better.. THEN we had to go back to vet 2wks ago for check up. They were off the antibotic pill for 3 days, still taking Fluconazole tho, and the yeast came back with a Vengeance! I couldn\'t believe how fast. Imediately Zoey had moistness and reddness between her paws and ears. Mollie had raw, moist reddening places on her face and both started itching terribly!! Vet put them back on same meds. Same shampoo. BUT changed them food. She suggested they have developed allergies to foods. I got a specialized food at Vet for them. BUT, after reading many post here on Earth Clinic I wonder if this is best. Vet tells me I shouldn\'t give them any proteins, meat, cheese, egg products. I am forced to give their meds in Greenies Pill Pockets, all natual meat cuz they wont take them otherwise. However, now, Zoey doesn\'t want the pill pockets any more. She also now is rejecting the new food.

I need help! I\'m confused on what to do. This has been 2wks on this new food and more meds and they don\'t seem to be getting better. We shampooed last night. However, I just now ordered some shampoo on Ebay suggested by another poster here, called D10 dog shampoo.

I\'m ready to get this thing under control!! Naturally. I\'m getting fed up.

I\'m willing to try the natural Greek yogurt, Vinegar (if I can swing it) Not sure how that\'ll go over in their water, but I\'m willing to try! I need to know how much to give dogs of my size. Cuz they\'re hefty girls! I\'ll buy a different dog food. Unsure if I can go straight to raw meat, but I\'m not ruling it out. What about this Acidophilus? Is that milk or tablets? Where can I get that?

As far as the food? Grain free is best? Suggestions?

Thanks for any and ALL ideas and help. My darling dogs will be ever so grateful. As will I be happy to have them healed, not to mention the CRAZY Vet fees are killing me.

<description>[YEA] Ozarkian from Lake Of The Ozark\'s, Missouri writes: "For years we were told by more than one vet our dog had a allergy and was running thru something she was allergic to outside. We did not question this because Lady is not confined. We live semi rural and even though she is not confined to be 1/4 of a mile from us would be a rare distance for her to roam.

As she got older the odor connected with a yeast infection and other things connected to a yeast infection became so strong it was causing problems in our home and when we went to visit the grand kids. It got so bad I got on the Internet and started to read anything I could about skin problems in dogs. It was then that I learned what she hadsuffered with all these years was what seemed to be a yeast problem.

About 4-5 months ago after reading everything I decided to begin a treatment program on my own. After reading the different remedies suggested I decided on the following.

I started by giving her 3 baths a week that were 3 part deals. First was tea tree shampoo bath using one of those soar scrub things you put your hand in. Then let it stand on her for about 10 minutes and rinse. Next was the regular dog shampoo bath and rinse. Then a final rinse with a solution of 1/3 to 1/2 apple cider and water. Lady also was put on a strict grain free diet. We also started giving her a big spoonful of plain yogurt every night with her bedtime bite. WELL IT WORKED. She now has a full thick coat and not one bump or smell.

I need to also say that her fur is kept short to very short depending on the season.

We never expected these results. Lady is a old dog she will be 16 in just a couple of months. I so wish we would have learned this years ago. But I am sovery happy it will make her twilight years more comfortable.

<description>[YEA] Ly from Wilmington, Delaware writes: "My female Lab had come down with a yeast infection a year ago. We had no idea what it was. Vet said it was an allergies. There began our quest , by elimination process of what she was allergic too, while trying to find food she could eat that wouldn\'t worsen the problem. What a nightmare. She was itching constantly, smelled awful and the ear infections. We were so overwhelmed. The itching became so bad she was biting her hair off. By pure luck I found this site, and Ted was talking about the borax and peroxide.. etc treatments. We did everything he suggested. Within 6 months, her ears were slightly pink, not raw. 2 weeks after that the smell started leaving herand her itching was once or twice a day. We did however have a time getting her to eat the fish oil capsules. Her diet is now absolutely no canned dog food, 1/4 cup of all natural dry food per feeding with an additive of a product called \"Dinovite\" (which targets the itching that garbage dog food can cause dogs) also we feed her partially cooked chicken thighs and a baked liver mixture (recipe below) we make with a few veggies and eggs in it. At present she is almost completely well. We do not trust any dog food anymore because we\'ve tried all of them. Thanks to Ted for the initial help!

Recipe for Liver loaf:

2 small packs of beef liver, 1 tbsp of wheat grass powder, 1 tbsp of Kelp powder, 1 tbsp of spirulina, 6 eggs, 6 or 7 small carrots chopped up. Mix all of this in a food processor, 40 secs on med high. Pour into a small loaf pan bake at 350 for an hour or until a toothpick clomes up clean. We cut slices of loaf and cube it to put into her food.

You can get the powders from nutsonline.com

Good luck to all.

<description>[YEA] Lilli from Kenmore, Wa, Usa writes: "I read all the great posts here about ACV and the various uses in caring for a dog who has a yeast infection. I just had to write and share my success story.

My adopted pal, whose breed is prone to severe skin problems, developed a bad skin yeast infection. His legs and parts of his torso turned black and lost fur. He scratched 24/7 and we had to watch him constantly or he would scratch and bite until he bled. Eventually, we had to keep him in onsies and a plastic cone.

When he lived with his previous family, we think he was given too much prednisone and too many anti-biotics which ruined his immune system. Every vet we took him too wanted to prescribe the same meds including atopica. IMHO I would never give these things to him again! Prednisone shuts down the adrenal glands which stops the itching but causes severe medical problems down the road.

We were at the end of our rope watching our poor guy suffer. Here\'s what worked for us:

We finally found a naturopathic vet who has been allergy testing and giving him Chinese herbs and tinctures which attacks the yeast internally but takes time to work. We changed his diet to a commercial brand of frozen raw meat with some veggies. (I would not recommend dry kibble of any kind because it is still processed and most have binders, starches, and grain products. ) He lost the extra weight, that he gained due to the prednisone, and was much livelier, but still scratching.

The single most amazing change in him occurred when I started spraying him with ACV/distilled water, 50/50. (I use organic ACV which has the \"mother\" in it. ) I sprayed the hot spots and black areas of his skin and rubbed the vinegar in. I kept him standing or moving until he air dried. (Do not spray it on open wounds and sores) Then I put him back in a cotton onsie. It is important to keep them from scratching and re-irritating the skin. I did this in the morning, after feeding, and the evening before bed. It reduced his scratching 75% in two days! I also mixed a little ACV in his food. (I would not recommend giving ACV on an empty stomach)

About every three days I mix a lotion of pure aloe vera with pure vegetable glycerin and distilled water and rub it on the troubled areas and let dry. (Do not use straight glycerin on skin because it traps moisture and may cause blistering) After a day or two, the lotion dries the surface yeast and it sloughs off. I clean the areas and new pink skin is underneath.

We are at day four of using this system. My dog is calmer, scratches less, and sleeps better. His skin is pinking up and I do not have to keep an eye on him all day.

(One word of caution: Talk to your naturopathic vet before starting any new remedy. Dogs can have a reaction to most anything whether it is natural or not. Start on a small patch of skin as a test before using any product on your dog.)

Thank you to everyone who posted ACV suggestions. After years of frustrating vet visits, many $$$\'s spent, bad drug reactions, and the arrogance of Western medicine, a little $3.00 bottle of ACV did the trick!

<description>[YEA] Keishas Mom from Toronto, Ontario, Canada writes: "My yorkie is 4 years old and has been suffering from what I thought were allergies her entire life. I have tried every kind of food, switched to 100% natural chemical free housecleaners, detergents, etc. , I spent enormous amounts of money at the vet and everything they prescribed only made it worse. She had ear infections, rashes and sores (specifically in her armpits, chest, and between her toes), impacted anal sacs, and sneezing and coughing. I finally gave up on the allergy idea and started researching for causes and found out about yeast infections.

Since I\'ve been treating for yeast I have found her to be unbelievable better! I feel her Raw Lamb food, and on it I put colloidal silver, yogurt, and omega-3 oil (one for each meal). I also bathe her with all natual soap (it comes in a bar) and then put a rinse of Vinegar and tea tree oil diluted in water, which I don\'t rinse off. Once she\'s dry I put colloidal silver on her itchy spots. I find that these steps help her so much! I can\'t believe that no vet told me about yeast infections, they just prescribed antibiotics, allergy pills, and topical treatments that made her feel worse. I think all natural is the way to go, and colloidal silver is a miracle worker!

<description> Harleywrecked from Leeds, Me, Usa writes: "I have a 12 year old dachshund who has had a history of disk problems and has been on steroids and NSAIDs, antibiotics and Benadryl repeatedly. I am pretty certain now that what we are dealing with is a yeast issue. It started last march. My vet had put her on hills ID and prednisone and she started breaking out. I thought it was a food allergy to the hills. They said seasonal allergy or contact allergy. I knew it wasn\'t.

Then I thought it might be neuropathy causing her to chew on herself. But gabapentin did not offer any relief. She has the smell, the black crusty looking skin, loss of hair, constant licking chewing digging ect. Problem is last May she had a severe attack of pancreatitis and had to be hospitalized. So I have to be so careful about her pancreas as that could be fatal. Every food that I have read about for yeast issues seems too high fat content for a dog with pancreatic concerns. I have been feeding her hamburg and rice or pasta. I stopped both rice and pasta and am giving her farm fresh organic beef and string beans, but I think it is too high fat and not enough nutrition. She is constantly trying to eat dirt. What can I feed her???? please help. In the meantime I am treating the skin and have ordered the shampoo.

<description>[YEA] Ellen from Arlington, Tx writes: "My dog is a Lhasa-Apso, and he has had a recurring ear infection since we adopted him about a year ago. We took him to the vet several times and tried different ointments. We tried a homeopathic ear drop too, as well as an ear flush made of alcohol, white, vinegar, and Betadine. The flush helped, for a day or two at a time, but did not cure the infection. Finally I took an old medicine dropper and filled it about half-full with some organic EVCO. It stopped the itching immediately. After about a month the ear that was infected the worst started bothering him again. The other ear seemed fine. I repeated the dose again, and the dog immediately stopped scratching his ear. I do believe that this works better than anything else we have used, including prescription drops and ointments. I think that the one ear is completely cured. I will keep an eye on the other one, and dose with EVCO again if any sign of infection returns.

<description> Singer04 from California, Ca, Usa writes: "We adopted a 5 year old bichon/poodle mix. He was suppose to be white but he had red/brown marks around his mouth, ears, feet, etc. At the time, he also had really really gross gunk coming out of his eyes. The inside of his ears were red and itchy and he smelled, so so bad. He was like Pigpen from Charlie Brown, he just smelled when you got near him. He itched himself all the time, he would wake us up all night long itching and biting.

All these symptoms are characteristic of an overgrowth of candida which lives in his stomach. The first thing I did was feed him wheat free/gluten free food and distilled water. After two months he was super white and didn\'t smell. But he still itched his ears and he still smelled kinda bad. His ears were absoltely inflammed still and rashy!

The next thing I did was start feeding him quinoa chicken vegetable mash. This took care of the smelling. But his ears, would not change! I couldn\'t get him to drink apple cider vinegar until I mixed 1T of apple cider vinegar with freshly ground almond butter. (Mix it real good. Almond butter doesn\'t feed the yeast, peanut butter feeds yeast so don\'t use peanut butter) That helped sometimes but not completely.

A vet friend of mine recommended some western medicine but when I researched the side effects were really dangerous! Geez.

Then someone recommended Zymox. (And I really hope that Earth Clinic doesn\'t remove this product name) because seriously I am so grateful to them. His ears look amazing! He doesn\'t itch them, they\'re not red. No side effects! I wish someone would have told me what to do from the beginning! (Why didn\'t a vet tell me all this! So frustrating! ) It\'s taken me a year of trying all this stuff out. I don\'t think Zymox would have worked as well without the gf diet and such. (They also have shampoos that I\'m going to try next)

Now I have the most gorgeous, healthy, happy white bichon/poodle! I hope this helps someone out there. Good luck!

<description> Nicole from Wyckoff, Nj, Usa writes: "I have a 4 1/2 year old female English Bulldog who is relatively healthy except for a congenital defect (recessed vulva) which gives her recurring UTI infections throughout her life. She has had at least 12 infections which have been cleared up with various antibiotics. I give her daily cranberry powder, greek yogurt, and coconut oil which seems to help somewhat. Lately, she has a reddish brown sercretions from her eyes, tail pocket area, vulva area and in between her paws. Around the same time she has a patch under her neck with no fur and red skin.

The vet put her on an anti fungal which is not really working. I feed her twice a day wet and dry food. The dry food (which she has been on for at least 3 years) is Natural Balance Grain Free Sweet Potato and Fish and the wet food is Nature\'s Variety Instinct Lamb (I switched from Canidae Lamb and Rice because the local stores no longer carry it). Turkey, Chicken, Venison, and Duck don\'t agree with her so Lamb and Salmon seems to be the best. I have tried the raw diet with her and that completely does not agree with her. I feel like she has a systemic yeast infection and don\'t know how to fix this. I was thinking about putting her on a cooked diet of Lamb and Vegetables so I don\'t know if that will help. Also, I know a lot of the posts recommend baths but she is allergic to all soaps and becomes very red and itchy and rips her skin scratching. Usually, I just soak her in epsom salts and that works well.. Any suggestions or experiences about what this could be from? Is it from the anit biotics or food. She really seems ot be suffering and licking herself constacnlty so I really would like to try to heal this!

<description> Nicki from Boston, Ma writes: "This site had been so helpful!

I have a full pit who has been suffering from allergies over the past couple of years. She has been to the vets on every type of diet, was on meds at one point.

The vets don\'t seem to know what she is allergic too! My boyfriend has had her since she was a puppy and did not have these issues at first he\'s spent 1000 of dollars and was at a lost- I started her on quality natures instinct salmon food and she was okay for a bit- there was just too many ingridenta in that brand I have been slowly switching to raw she seems to be allergic to poultry beef. I have been feeding her benson which is tough finically but it seems to be the only thing she doesn\'t react to. I\'ve been giving her yogurt and vegetables and was doing garlic until I\'ve read mixed things about it being safe.

Long story short her ears are a mess! They are dry and black and clean out dark discharge daily and they smell I belive this is yeast! Under her arms too and her body breaks out here and here in red irration. I\'ve done the Apple Cider Vinegar but I was wonderig does it look worse right after before it gets better? I soaked her feet in 50/50 they are also irritated and swollen and she licks at them consult Ben after the ACV She of course doesn\'t seem to mind the taste! I\'ve found some natural remedies for ear wash but not sure if it\'s helping! Does this get worse before it gets better she looked so red and just wanted to roll all around after the bath. I also used tea tree shampoo an didnt wondering if anyone else has used coconut oil with success? Please help she is sometimes scratching herself to bleed I feel so bad for her and Don\'t know what else to try! Does the pill or liquid form of probiotic in yogurt work better over yogurt? I\'m afraid to keep doing the Apple Cider Vinegar bc she seemed to or ratted after, I did put a tblsp in her water. Any advice I\'d greatly appreciate it!!

<description>[YEA] Earthystuff from Nicholson, Ga, United States writes: "Yonah had developed some kind of sticky crusty stuff all over his skin and stunk so bad we didnt even want him in the house. A few years back I took him to the vet and he put Yonah on Lamb and rice diet. This diet helped for a short while and then came back with a vengence. I would use a flea comb on him and what came off was like scabs that stuck in the comb.

After searching on earthclinic and agreeing it is yeast, this is what I did for him. Still on lamb and rice food in the morning feed I give him his daily garlic for fleas part of powdered glucosamine and started him on 1 tablespoon Apple cider vinager. He actually doesnt have a problem eating it in his food. I add a little wet lamb and rice to mask the flavor and smell. Afternoon feed I add a little wet food and a big heaping tablespoon of greek yogurt. I have washed him once a week with antifungal shampoo and then follow with spraying him down with a mixture of 1/2 Apple cider vinager and 1/2 water. In between baths I spray him in places that are lingering like the top of his head. Its been about 5 weeks and this yuck is just about gone. His energy level has picked up and he is so much happier. He is an older dog and this usually occurs in the hot months but Im going to keep him on this program. He even smells better. I am glad to report that this is working wonderful.

Earthclinic has been my doctor for about 6 years now and I love the information I get here!

<description> Jen from St. Paul, Minnesota writes: "My 5 year old cocker spaniel has been suffering from a skin yeast infection ever since her vet gave her a lyme disease vaccination last year (despite my telling them not to). She breaks out in itchy patches on her back and belly that look like scabs with red skin underneath. After taking her to the vet several times for pills and medicated shampoo with no results, I have decided to look for natural remedies.

It has been 5 days now and I have switched her to grain-free dog food, added acidophilus tablets daily before meals, bathe her every afternoon in medicated (oatmeal-free) shampoo, and follow with a 50/50 white vinegar and water rinse and a coating of coconut oil on red spots. Her hair seems to be falling out in clumps worse than before, but the flakes seem to be more on top the fur than on the skin now, and her skin seems very red. Just wondering if this is a sign of improvement, or am I just making her worse? I think I will try to continue this combination of treatments for another week and a half then reassess the situation and if I am making it worse, take her back to the vet--although I am really sick of paying the vet bills and not getting anything but medications that don\'t seem to help.

<description> Wonda from Gray, Georgia, Us writes: "I have a 6 year old Maltese that weighs 6 pounds. We have been to three veterinarians for her problems. About 4 years ago she started itching and scratching really bad. They put her on prescription dog food ( purina HA), prescription shampoo and every antibiotic and steroids. She has been on Soloxine, Clavamox Dexmethasone injectrion, , neo/poly v/dexopthalmis sol, convenia inj., SMZ, BAYRIL, AMPICILLIN, gentamicin, Chlorpheniramine Maleate, penicillin g Hydroxyzine and Depomedrol. She would get better for about a month or two and it comes back again.

I had allergy testing done and was told all that she was allergic to. She would get a monthly shot with the serum for allergies. She also had a thyroid test and has low thyroid and is on Soloxin twice a day. The allergy shots did not help so they stopped the shots and put her on prednisone and atopica. I took her to another Dr. And they took her off of the prednisone, atopica and prescription dog food and put her on ground beef and green beans. He also changed her shampoo to Benzoyl Peroxide shampoo, but she still has to get antibiotic shots to help her with the infection.

She is no longer on any meds except for the solaxine for thyroid and the bp shampoo. She still has very pink skin and scratching on her sides and back. She is biting on her front feet but they do not have sores nor is she loosing hair on them. She scoots on the floor because she is red on her privates. Sometime she will get sores on her mouth and her eyes will get infection in them. I was thinking maybe she has a yeast infection but she does not smell. She does not drink much water. Her hair is not oily. She has like I said real pink skin which has a red rash on it. She will get little pin sores in spots sometime which will look like a blister and then will pop and will turn into a sore. The veteran said she has allergies and sometimes it turns into staph. I have been putting the hydrogen peroxide (1 cp), white vinegar (1 cp) and water (1 gallon) rinse on her daily for about a week. I have been giving her one acidophilus pill (Providing 40 million colony forming units at the time of manufacture. XTRA Premium Blend® (40,000,000 CFU**) 3.7 mg), a fish oil (1000 mg with natural omega-3) every other day. Two table spoons of natural plane yogurt and one men\'s one a day vitamin. I am spending about $150.00 monthly on vet bills. Please someone help. if you have any ideas my email address is wscprad(at)yahoo.com

<description>[YEA] Salyne from Micanopy, Florida writes: "We have a 14 year old mixed breed dog that suffers from recurring yeast infections on her skin. We started the traditional treatments the vet had to offer but it seemed we were just chasing the infection around her body. It had gotten so bad we were at the point of discussing having the vet come to the house to put her down. The vet told us that a last ditch remedy would be to try a woman\'s yeast infection cream on the bad spots. She said it would possibly help with the itching and scratching. After just two days of applying the cream twice a day on the bad spots, she was starting to clear up - especially the hot, red \"elephant skin\" she had under her arms. She was almost completely cleared up in a couple of weeks. We\'re still fighting it, but when we see a spot pop up we hit it with the cream. It keeps the spots from growing larger and it stops the itching.

<description> Bebe from Birmingham, Al writes: "Have been dealing with the yeast issues for years (second dog). First of all I would suggest allergy testing for food/environment. Cost is about 150.00. This way you know for sure. My dog, dachshund now 6, has a chicken as well as seasonal alergies so I give her venison or bison and vegetables. If it is too protein rich her Ph gets out of balance and gets a UTI so read the protein #. I bathe her twice a week with Virbac Keto-Chlor Ketoconazole. She will get break outs under her forelegs and vaginal. The baths give her great relieve. We do the baking soda and vinegar rinses, also. She takes enzymes, from health food store, sprinkled on her food, for her stomach. Sometimes she will eat the yogurt, especially goat yogurt. Her water, purified, as our water has chemicals and disrupts the stomach flora. We saw an allergy specialist for 1 1/2 years and have run the course. Someone mentioned their dog was vomiting yellow. This is most likely bile from stomach upset and Pepto has sweetner in it that promotes the fungus. Not good for the flora.
