<description>[YEA] Angel from Clearwater, Florida writes: "I am a pet groomer, and have worked for a number of vets, &amp; kennels, as well as with a K-9 trainer. I have had MANY \"kids\" (of the 4 legged kind! ) many of whom were \"abandon, abused, uncared for, unloved, etc. Well u get it. Anyway, a change of food or location, or stress, can MOST certainly cause an awful reaction to your babies digestive system. I found that Jazmine rice (can get it, in micro-boil bags) &amp; boil lean hamburger (can be done in the micro as well, rince once (approx 5 mins) to remove fat. <description>[YEA] Greenllll from Chicken Hill, Sc writes: "testimonial: The dog had diahreah, &amp; was waking up in the middle of the night. This went on for a few days. The owner quit feeding the dog. The dog started growling at me cause it was hungry. I explained to the owner that the dog\'s instincts, which it uses to survive, was telling it that it was desperate for food, enough to growl, and it needed to be fed. I showed the website Earthclinic, and the remedy it suggests, pumpkin &amp; boiled chicken. I fed the dog this mixture and the dog, for the first time, slept all night. Problem solved. The dog was fed 2 TBS and a cup of chicken the 1st night. Didn\'t want to overfeed it. Now the dog is bigger than ever.

\"Medicines may have scientific proof to back them up, but big Pharma also has a big motive to do misleading research, money. All DRUGS are poisonous. That\'s why they say \"May cause liver or kidney damage. \" as side-effects. Or, \"Not for people w/ liver or kidney disease. \" or \"nephro (kidney)toxicity\" or \"hepa (liver) toxicity). The liver &amp; kidney filter out poisons. That\'s their job. Herbs cannot be patented, so no one can make money off them, so no one invests millions into proper scientific research. Medicine takes 1 component of an herb and makes it un-natural, so they can patent it, and charge a lot for it. But the herb was designed for the human body. We co-evolved together. Herbs almost never have side-effects, and healing herbs that are good for you always taste &amp; smell pleasant. To test if a medicine or herb is healthy, chew it &amp; taste it. Taste revolting? Your body knows. You cannot trust the doctors. Trust your own eyes. A vet would have charged a lot of money for some medication to stop up the dog\'s guts, and it probably wouldn\'t have worked as well as the proper food (herb).

<description> Oldriska from Prague, Czech Republic writes: "Hi there, Three days ago I brought home a tom cat from a cat shelter. He\'s very vital at 4 years and overall looks very healthy, however, from day one he\'s had diarrhea although I feed him quality canned food and dry food for sterile cats. I suspect he had already had diarrhea in the cat-shelter because his bum was not clean then when I visited the shelter a few weeks back. He\'s fully vaccinated and I don\'t expect him to have intestinal parasites because he would get tablets for that while in the shelter. Could someone please suggest how I can help my cat, should I feed him lean meat with rice or should I get some diet cat food? Many thanks, Oldriska

I started out with just the chicken and rice with no change observed. The key was adding the canned pumpkin (.59 cents!! ) Thanks for the info!

<description>[YEA] Karin from Cape Coral, Florida writes: "After trying all the usual stuff, I finally found something to cure diarrhea in my foster greyhound. Feed about 1-2 cups pasta (cooked until mushy) with about 2 tablespoons of salmon (cheap canned is fine) and add in 1, 000 mg of L-Glutamine 2x a day. Do not feed anything else until a few days after it completely resolves and then just add in a little of other food until you eventually transition to regular food. It worked in less than 24 hrs. <description> Jenn from Los Angeles, Ca writes: "So I\'m pretty sure I\'ve tried EVERYTHING I could possibly try to help with my German Shepherd\'s diarrhea. I don\'t know if she will just have chronic diarrhea for the rest of her life, or if she is having problems with something around her. My dog has always been pretty mellow (she is almost 8 now) but loves to run around outside. From the vet\'s recommendation, I have been feeding her low residue prescription dry food ($$$) with some boiled chicken on top. I mix in a boiled egg from time to time. I have also been giving her some dog vitamins for the lack of nutrients when she eats the low residue food. She is allergic to glucosamine and has a very sensitive stomach. I do not feed her any people food except the chicken and egg.

I have taken her to the vet. He has ran blood tests and taken stool samples and I get the same answer each time. Just give her Flagyl. This helped for a little while and then when she was done with the prescription her stool would be fine.

She has been on the low residue food for a long time and I wonder if that may be one of the problems. Up until last week, everything was fine. She\'d eat twice a day and finish everything. Now she won\'t touch the dry food, she will not even GLANCE at the chicken even when I wave it right under her nose. She is avoiding the white rice. Right now, all I can get her to eat is some boiled egg and turkey.

What can I do? The only options I can think of is to take her to a different vet or feed her turkey forever. I would like to try more of the options I\'ve found on earthclinic but I would like to know if there is a more severe problem that I should address.

It works great. I have pumkin which I have'nt tried because the rice&amp; chicken work so well, I am very interested in the cayenne but have'nt used it yet but I hear it heals alot of ailments from cancer to diarrhea, it is even great for us humans. Give this a try &amp; post how well it worked for me it was a mircle. You can use hamburger instead of chicken but make sure you boil it well pour into strainer rinse well under running water. Goodluck I am sure all will be fine. L. O. L from Akita Lover From Cape Breton

<description>[YEA] Fiona from Ilford, England writes: "Hi, one of my cats had an awful bout of diarrhea after having some teeth removed at the vets (I suspect the drugs the vet used were too much for my cat's system).

We initially returned to the vet for a remedy/diagnosis (as the diarrhea had blood in it and was mucus-sy) and the vet gave us some harsh chemically smelling concoction.

My cat refused the concoction for his diarrhea and was very stressed when my husband and I tried to administer it. After a day or 2 it occurred to me to try some bentonite clay. I mixed up a solution (a flat tablespoon in a jar of water, leave to absorb, without mixing for at least 20 minutes, then mix)) and offered the cat some of the thicker part of the mix. He licked it all up without hesitation, I offered him more and he took the second dose. This was in the evening. The next day he did a nice healthy poo and was back to his normal self.

Please look into bentonite, green clay and edible clays generally. Thay are SO good for health (human and animal)

Good luck

<description> Irish from Aloha, Or, Usa writes: "I recently (last week) moved with my cat across town. The home we moved to has two 4 year old cats (brother and sister). All are indoor only. My cat has been solo for his entire life and is not plesent to even other humans.

At our new home he has his own room with all that he needs to be comfortable. He was so stressed out for the first few days he hid in the closet and would not even respond to me. He has since come out of the closet but remains very stressed. I purchased a pheremone collar that was supposed to calm him down, especially when the other cats came to the door. I didn't mention that I put a mesh screen door in place of the bedroom door so the cats could see each other but still be seperated for the transition time.

Just over a week later ( to date ) My cat now has full blown diarrhea and is not able to keep any of his food down. He has moments of affection with me and stays calm most of the time but I am getting concerned about the diarrhea and vomiting at this point. I removed the collar 2 days ago in case he was having an allergic reaction.

I need suggestions on whether this is collar or stress related and if there is any natural remedy I can use to help him stay calm and be more comfortable.

He has never had a single health problem before this move.

Help!!!

<description> Superman from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada writes: "I have a 3 1/2 month St. Bernard, she currently weighs 41lbs. My concern is that she has diarrhea quite a lot. Approximately 90% of her stools are soft enough to consider diarrhea. She also had ringworm, which I am treating her for, and thought perhaps it is the medication that is causing this, to "flush her out ". Does anyone know how long this typically lasts?. On the medication, it says it should NOT cause diarrhea... I am currently feeding her Blue Buffalo dry food. I have also tried the RAW diet, but nothing seems to work. Currently I am giving her just rice, and boiled chicken / beef. I also tried pumpkin, with no benefit... Any help would be appreciated....

<description>[NAY] Pamperingpaws from Orlando, Fl writes: "Where is this coming from? Pumpkin is HIGH in fiber and water. It works well for constipation BUT NOT DIARRHEA! Would you take metamucil for your diarrhea? the easiest and safest way to stop diarrhea is to stop feeding for 12-24 hours, then start slowly feeding small meals (break up a regular meal into 2-3 feedings afew hours apart) or start with small amounts of pain rice with or without plain boiled chicken then transfer back on to regular food over a few days. Adding pumpkin dose no good and may make a bad situation worse. If you INSIST on using pumpkin for diarrhea PLEASE check with your vet for advise, a phone call cost you nothing.

<description> Tucson_arizona from Tucson, Arizona, U.s.a. writes: "I adopted a dog from the local pound a week ago today. He has had diarrhea ever since then, it kinda seemed like it was going to stop a couple of times, but has not. The dog is 2 years old. Heeler/german shepard mix. I took him to the vet the day after I got him, and the vet said he had a upper respiratory infection from kennel cough, which I believe he is now over, as he has no signs of it, and only had minimal signs to begin with. The vet put him on Doxycycline 100mg two times a day, then after the diarrhea did not go away within 24 hours, also added Metronidazole 250mg 1/2 tab daily. I have been feeding him white rice, with organic dog food mixed in (about 3 tablespoons)-otherwise he won't eat the rice, I add 2 caplets of Garlic to the rice water when it is cooking, 2 tablespoons of libby's 100% canned pumpkin, and 2 tablespoons of organic yogurt with 4 kinds of probiotics. I have stayed consistent with this for the week, before I started adding the garlic, I added Cayenne to the rice twice in the same method(in the rice water while cooking, and that did nothing), so I switched to the garlic.

My question is, after a week of this, and no significant improvement, I obviously need to do something different, but what? He was underweight when I got him, and looks like he has put on some weight in the last week, but the diarrhea needs to stop! I checked his poop and I do not see any worms. Can I please get some help! ? Thank you.

I have a miniature dachshund. He ate some spoiled chicken liver and he had bloody diarrhea accompanied by projectile vomiting. He smelled to high heaven!!! I called a friend who owns three dogs and she told me to give him an anti-diarrheal medication which works on humans. However after two days on this medication my dog seemed to be worse and he was acting very lethargic and refusing to eat. He was still drinking water. I called the vet and of course they told me to bring him in. I was a little leery of that as a coworker's dog had experienced the same thing and she took her dog to the vet and by the time they were thru with her dog she had a $2,300 bill (the dog stayed at the vet four days and had IV fluids, IV medications etc) Anyway I prayed for my dog and then I went on your website as I sure did not have $2,300 to spend. I noted the rice, chicken, canned pumpkin remedy. I TRIED IT AND IT WORKED!!! I used three parts rice, one part chicken and two heaping tablespoons of pumpkin twice a day. Thank you for sharing such an effective and frugal remedy.

<description>[YEA] Bonnie from Lynn, MA writes: "Hi,

I have three kittens between three and four months old with an ongoing problem of diarhea. They still had good appetites...four meals a day...and behaved normally, so instead of taking them immediatelly to the vet.... I thought I'd try one of these remedies. I used two teaspoons of squash (the store didn't have pumpkin) and three thin slices of garlic (minced)....(I wasn't sure how much I should give them so thus the small amount) .... mixed in one can of cat food for three days (four meals a day) and they all have normal to soft ...formed ...bms! I gave them garlic with the squash since I wasn't sure what was causing the diarhea and figured the garlic would take care of parasites/worms if that was the problem. I'm not sure how long I should do this so I'm going to give it a couple more days and see if it is truly gone. I'll let you know. Thanks for your website.

Bonnie

P.S. I have given them cooked chicken and organic rice baby cereal and that didn't work. I'd love to be able to give them meat on a daily basis but I have many cats (all rescues) and just can't afford to do it. I'm not keeping these kittens, but want them to go to their new homes healthy. Thank you again"</description>
