CLARIFICATION NEEDED FOR TED'S CANINE UTI REMEDIES
08/17/2008: Maureen Martinek writes: "I agree with Ted about using AC vinegar, seems a bit harsh. (It makes me sick to my stomach--hate to think what it would do to my dog) My question is: On one page Ted states that 1/2 tsp sea salt should be put in the food and the same amount in each liter of drinking water. In another answer page he states that one tsp should be put in drinking water for one to two days. I am now confused. Was I wrong to give my girl 1/2 teaspon sea salt in her food? I'm hesitant to put salt in the drinking water as I have more than one dog and don't know what he effect would be (or the effect on the cats. If someone could clear this up, like Ted:-) (whose posts I have read elsewhere, I would appreciate it. My dog is miserable and that makes me miserable."

ACV FOR DOG?
07/07/2007: BT writes: "I have a 11yr. old dalmation. He has had a UTI since last Nov. I have spent many dollars at the Vets office. Currently he is on C D dog food and just got off antibiotics. he still has the UTI. I started giving him ACV. I found your site and thought I will try it. I started giving him 2 Tbsp. a day. I soak it up with bread. He seems to like it that way. I thought he was doing better, but now tonight, (3 days later) he is squatting constantly trying to pee. He has been voiding well all day. He even peed well, before he started to have the urge every 5min. I collected the pee and it does not look or smell bad. What do you think? How much vinegar should I be giving him, and should I be giving him bread with it? Please answer me soon. I love this dog, and don't know what else to do. Does the vinegar take a wk. or more, when should I be seeing results if any?"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "I wouldn't try Apple cider vinegar for UTI. I would prefer to mixed 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt an mixed with food. And add at least 1/2 teaspoon of sea salt per drinking of liter of water, or if I do care enough the dog, I would use green tea (no sugar, no fructose and no milk). If there is any fruits I would use, pomegranate mixed into the food will help.
In my experience the dog should be o.k. within a couple of hours."
07/12/2008: Tracy from Omaha, Nebraska replies: "If your dog had been on antibiotics for a long period of time you need to replenish the good bacteria in the body because antibiotics kill all of the bacteria, good and bad. Some suggestions for that are kefier yogurt with no added sugar 1 Tbsp twice daily with food or probiotics. This might not cure the bladder issues by itself but it will definately help!"
