QUESTIONS ABOUT APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND SUPPLEMENTS FOR DOG WITH ARTHRITIS
07/02/2008: Richard (madlibrarian9 [at] hotmail.com) writes: "How do I change subject to "Apple Cider Vinegar + Supplements?"
Follow-up to question I posted 7/01/08: We have 11-year old, 85-pound golden retriever on a glucosamne/chondroitin supplement for her spinal arthritis. Thanks for TTouch info, but I still need to know if it is safe to combine the supplement with apple cider vinegar (ACV)? If so, how much ACV do we give her and how do we administer it? Or should we use ACV only? If we do, what is the dosage? Thank you!
P.S. Since the supplement was almost used up, I bought a new bottle and gave the dog a dose last night. Today she seems to have more energy, but she still does not eat her (grain-free) food."

LAB SUFFERING FROM HIP DYSPLASIA AND ARTHIRITIS
02/05/2008: Jill writes: "My 12 1/2 year old 100lb lab/shep mix has been suffering from hip dysplasia and arthritis for about 3 years, and what I thought was an allergic skin reaction for the last 3 months.
For the pain he was getting regular acupuncture combined with Tramadol (up to 3x per day) and Metacam every night.' He's been geting triple strength gluco chews as treats. He's also getting 1000mg organic flax oil 2-3x per day since the rash began, along with 100mg diphenhydramine for the itching.
The last two acupuncture visits left him worse than when we began so I'm hesitant to bring him again, but after so many wonderful visits I will eventually return. His pain has been getting worse. Twice in the last month he refused to get out of the car, and wouldn't use a ramp or steps. The other day a young dog jumped on him at the park and he's been much worse since. Today he was wobbly in his rear legs.
My friend who recommended this wonderful site also recommended I give him Shark Cartilage and Cats Claw, so I purchased some today and both dogs and I began that regimen today. I added garlic granules to their food but they wont eat that. Tomorrow I will buy some borax and try the peroxide and borax treatment for the itching.
My question is, has anyone here had any success reducing pain and increasing muscle tone with a large dog this age? Everything else about him is fine. Thanks for any insight, we very much appreciate all responses."

COULD SEA SALT BE MAKING DOG WORSE?
09/29/2007: Kimberly writes: "Need advice ASAP..... I have had my 14 year old dog on Natural Sea Salt (1/4 t. per 1 liter water) for 2 weeks. He has been on Deramaxx for arthritis in his hips. My dog has worsened in the past 2 weeks. He can no longer get himself up off the wood or tile floors (can on carpet). He has stopped eating his regular food...NutroMaxx with Glucosomine....but... will eat cooked beef liver or cooked chicken only. He is crying throughout the night as he has to shift himself around for comfort. He has also urinated in the house the past 2 nights. He poo's on himself slightly....as he can not stand still to hold himself up during the activity. Could the Sea Salt be the causing for this sudden turn for the worse? Please advice....as family is telling me it's time to put him to sleep. :( Thanks."
09/30/2007: Jonna from Los Angeles, CA replies: "This is a response to Kimberly, who asked about her dog and sea salt. I doubt the sea salt has much to do with your dog's condition, but you should probably stop it nonetheless.' My malamute went through the exact same thing during the last few weeks of his life at age 14, I am afraid. It was a terrible, stressful time. I tried every supplement and also holistic treatment on the book to get him back on his feet but nothing helped. It was his time to go, which my vet (one of the best in Los Angeles) verified. So sorry."

HELP NEEDED
05/18/2007: M.R. writes: "With the exception of Rhus Tox I've tried almost everything for our dog's arthritis. Including MSM, Ester C, Glucosomine pills, Glucosomine shots (from the vet - helped marginally), coconut oil, aspirin, prescription pain killers from the vet, a special homemade "arthritis diet" and the sea salt cure. Nothing has helped significantly yet. Our dog is 8 years old and limps around like he's 14. X-rays show elbow and wrist and a little shoulder arthrits - apparently these locations are to difficult to operate. I frequently check the earthclinic site for something new...please keep posting your ideas!"
