RAW APPLE CIDER VINEGAR FOR A LEAKY EYE?
01/20/2009: Bethany from Phoenix, AZ writes: "Hello! Please can someone help me! I am reading that raw ACV helps cats with leaky eye. My male main-coon cat has a leaky eye and I was wondering where do I put the ACV... on the back of his head or in his food? Because he may not eat it, he's a little picky. Also I have two other cats who sometimes eat his food and they all share a water fountain. Is the leaky eye a sign of something more serious... a urinary tract infection... which doesn't make sense to me... but freaks me out if that's the case. I can't afford to take him to the vet now :(
Can someone please tell me how to use the raw ACV for his eye!! He's had it for while and I had no idea why or what it was from. Someone told me it was normal for a cat over 10 years old-but now I know that's not correct and am very upset I didn't get him treated. Please help! Thank you!"
03/01/2011: Debbiefudge from Brighton, East Sussex, Uk replies: "Hi, for one thing, it's not normal for any cat of any age to have a 'leaky eye'. It could be a blocked tear duct.
So, if it doesn't improve after trying the ACV, you may need to go to the vet.
You could try mixing a little in the cats food. You may want to try giving it in some tuna or similar, to mask the smell of the ACV.
Mix Half ACV/half water and use a syringe, (NO NEEDLE)! And put on to the back of the neck/between shoulder blades. Repeat twice a day.
Use some boiled, cooled water and gently cleanse the eye with some cotton wool."

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR AND WATER FOUNTAIN
07/12/2008: Connie from Tarpon Springs, FL writes: "We use one of those pet drinking fountains for our two cats because they weren't drinking enough water from a plain dish. It's working really well and they like drinking from it. However, I would like to add ACV to the water. Problem is, the fountain has a charcoal filter in it. Will this remove the beneficial properties of the vinegar? Any help would be appreciated."

12/11/2010: Catwoman from Somerville, Tennessee replies: "I have a fountain myself. If the charcoal filter is removed, you can place a white fleace product made for fish tank filters. It comes in a bag and looks like fine cotton. It does not effect the condition of the water, ph that sort of thing, but fitlers out small particles and debris. If you drink the same water you are putting in your cat fountain, it is good enough for your cat. But remember to change it often so that it does not become stagnant. Charcoal is used in fish tanks also. I know it does not effect the ph levels but I do not know about what effect it would have on removing the affectiveness of the acv."

UNSURE OF ACV MIXTURE FOR FLEA CAT BATH

12/12/2009: Informed35473 from Northport, Alabama replies: "Actually, since kitties don't like baths, and spray bottles make them nervous, u may want to get a bowl, put equal measurements of organic ACV to water, and just wipe down their fur making sure to saturate every bit of kitty. That should take care of the flea problem! ! !"
