Mary's work grows out of a life-long focus on spiritual development. Her path has taken her through many studies, formal and informal, which have blended into the fabric of her work as a healer and teacher. She believes unconditionally in the self-healing capacity of her clients and students, as well as the innate human ability to facilitate healing in another. She appreciates everyone who comes to her with respect to their unique, personal journeys, and honors everyone as an expression of her own Self. "All healing is self-healing-- it unfolds from within. When a client comes to me, I simply facilitate the healing which is already taking place." - - Mary Maddux Background Later, she gravitated to the field of Energy Healing through exposure to the work of Sanaya Roman and Duane Packer. She graduated from the "Awakening Your Lightbody" course, using the energy mastery gained from that course in her work. This lead to an interest in the Healing Touch program. Immediately after her first HT course, she began to use the techniques she had learned. Her love of this form of healing grew, and she completed the practitioner level of training and became a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner. These are just highlights of the many studies and practices which have shaped Mary's work. Extensive study of holistic healing and metaphysics also contribute to what she offers her clients and students. She is eager to share her wisdom, and uses many avenues to facilitate healing and empower others -- as a healer, speaker, teacher in many settings. Currently, she has a private healing practice, makes presentations in the community, and teaches both through the local Community Education program and privately organized classes. Mary works equally well in traditional and non-traditional contexts, having the ability to help bridge the gap between East and West, conventional and "alternative". Mary offers healing sessions both in person and at a distance.
Mary has an MS in clinical social work, and has done counseling in mental health, hospital and hospice settings. She taught meditation for many years, having studied intensively within the context of the Vedic tradition of India. These Vedic studies included many courses in the theory and practice of the development of consciousness, as well as studies in Ayurveda (the "science of life"). As part of these studies, she participated in many "world peace assemblies" and a women's project to promote world peace, which took her to Europe and India. On this project, she was trained as an Ayurvedic therapist and gave panchakarma treatments.
