[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 05/24/2008: MayBelle from Hudson, NH writes: "I am trying this remedy for a yeast infection it is done in 4 parts:
1st: I applied Raw natural honey (not store bought) let it sit and then rinsed it off.
2nd: I put plain yogurt in an applicator but it must have NO sugar and have live active cultures. I left that in my vagina for at least one hour.
3rd: I douched with raw apple cider vinegar and water 1tbsp per 1 liter
Finally: placed the clove of Garlic mentioned here.
My friend told me that this remedy works fast.. So Since OTC doesn't work I figured I had nothing to loose. I am on the last step and I do have to tell you already feel so much better... "

04/28/2011: Fn from Corvallis, Or writes: "Peroxide YES!
I have been plagued by these infections my whole life since being sexually active. I would get these yeast infections like at least once a month. I finally tried the 1/2 cool water 1/2 peroxide filling a douche that I bought and discarded the solution it came with. If I ever feel the discomfort coming on, I douche morning and night for a few days, rinsing my peri area also, and it disappears! And this is WAY less frequently. It is so amazing and I no longer spend tons of money on monostat and others! Thank you so much!"

[YEA] 06/07/2010: Zanny from New York, NY writes: "so....I inserted the yogurt for about a week and that didn't cure the extreme itchiness. On day 5 I decide to try the hydrogen peroxide. I did 1 teaspoon of the hydrogen peroxide and 1 cup of warm water, stirred it up and filled a baby medicine dropper with the mix. Inserted that. It did sting a little and I was concerned and I also didn't feel well all day. BUT it went away. Results were almost immediate. I don't know if it is safe and I hope I never have to do it again.
Important to note; I did get my period back after trying this. I am not sure if it is because of the hydrogen peroxide or if it is due to my thyroid issues. If you experience spotting as well, this may be a bad idea to do and you should see your doctor instead."

[WARNING!] 03/15/2009: Andrea from Clinton Twp., MI writes: "For those of you using Hydrogen Peroxide for yeast infections, i just wanted to let you know that if it worked, it is highly likely that it wasn't a yeast infection in the first place, but bacterial vaginosis. I have been through it all over the past 8 years. I have had yeast infections, and recurrent bacterial vaginosis, and the symptoms are very similar. The only difference is, with a yeast infection, you really truly have to see the "cottage cheese" discharge. With bacterial vaginosis, you will get itching, burning, inflammation, redness, and a milky-white discharge...if it is severe, you will get a clumpy yellow-ish discharge that may be mistaken for the cottage cheese discharge of a yeast infection. If you want to find out more about the differences between the two, do some research online or ask your doctor. I'm glad the hydrogen peroxide worked for you, that is great! But i just wanted to make you aware that hydrogen peroxide is a natural antibiotic and only kills off bad bacteria, not yeast, so you may have had bacterial vaginosis without knowing it, and cured it without knowing it! Hope this helps someone out there who may be having recurrent vaginal health issues."
Replies09/07/2009: Michelle from Jackson, Mi replies: "I just wanted to mention that hydrogen peroxide works on so much more that just bacteria. Just check out the hydrogen peroxide section on this site. I know from experience that it works on many other ailments including many skin rashes, canker sores and even athletes foot. I don't know personally if it works for yeast infection, but I don't think it's out of the question."
12/27/2009: Jessica from Colorado Springs, Colorado replies: "I also wanted to mention that even though hydrogen peroxide may not have any direct effect on yeast and/or fungi, it is believed it has an indirect effect against fungus because it balances your pH balance like normal flora (good bacteria). Therefore making it a harder enviorment for yeast to grow in but a helpful one for the good bacteria that keep you healthy. It works well for jock itch, atheletes foot, and other fungal infections because of this reason."

[YEA] 03/15/2009: K.Lynn from Mt. Healthy, Ohio writes: "i just tried a suggestion from this site, but I wanted to give measurements used because that is as important as the remedy. I 've been using acv and boiled water ( can't afford to buy water) to wipe the vaginal area. It helped at first, but the pain and itching returned. so I made a solution of 16oz. boiled water w/ 1 TBSP of hydrogen peroxide ( cvs brand ok for external wash) and THANK GOD IT WORKED!!! I always keep boiled water refridgerated. using really cold water for this really helps. When I did the acv I used 2TBS per 16 oz, of cold boiled water. hope this helps someone else suffering w/ vaginal problems, it's miserable."

[YEA] 11/03/2008: Shay from New York, Ny writes: "I am a young woman about 22 years old. I tried Hydrogen Peroxide half water half peroxide in a little plastic cup for a yeast infection. I was suffering for about two days from this certain one, but I have been having yeast infections for what seems like every other month and I am a healthy woman I go to the doctor take care of my body and my healths #1. I let my tampon soak up the water still in the applicator and then inserted into my vagina I did this at night of course I also ran some of the mixture down my vagina as i sat on the toliet. I put the tampoon in for a few hours took it out ran the water over it, then soaked another tampoon and inserted it, i got instant relief and in the morning it fel really good by the next night I believed it was clear I changed the tampoons twice a day kept one in for atleast 8 hrs each night it's great not painful or itchy love it! :)"

[YEA] 11/13/2007: V from Panama, Florida writes: "I don't normally give comments back, but I am going to this time. I have had a yeast infection or BV for 4 days and thinking yeast first, I treated it with Monostat 1. It did not work, on the 4th day I was more miserable than I was on day one. I do not know how ladies put up with such a nasty condition for so long. Anyway, I dislike going to the doctors very much. I found this site and read your antidotes, then I found a medical site that backed the information about using a certain kind (that most people do not have) of H202 internally. I only have the 3% at home and that is what I used. The medical site does not recommend it for internal use. I do not own a baster or anything else like that. I used a tampon which I tried to soak with a solution of 50% bottled water and 50% H202, but I found it expanded too much in the applicator. In my frustration, I removed the tampon from the applicator and drenched it with straight H202 and used my fingers to push it up into my vaginal cavity. It was messy and a lot of liquid just came dripping back out. I also took paper towels and soaked them in staight H202 and methodically cleaned the entire external area from inside thigh to inside thigh and from start of pubic hair well past the anal opening. I let myself air dry then put on clean cotten underwear with a pad, and went to make a phone call, I talked for 67 minutes. During that time expanse there was a bit of a warm sensation that I felt and a bit of pain (like a cramping pain). After my call was over, I pulled the tampon out, then I literally dumped some more H202 over the entire external area and left myself air dry again. I woke this morning and have checked 3 times so far. No external cheesy stuff, no internal excessive white stuff, no musky smell, and I am pink again. I am going to the store to get some folic acid today also, but I did want to let you know of my success. P.S. I already eat Breyers probiotic yogurt daily regardless of state of health."

[YEA] 08/09/2007: reina from orlando, US writes: "I started having a terrible itching two days ago. This had never happened to me so I didn't know where it came from, especially now that I am on a good diet. It may have been the bath that I took, and many other things. Anyway, the itching started being unbearable, last night I couldn't sleep at all so I started reading the cures on these site. I did the folic acid, garlic softgel and hydrogen peroxide. The itching really as subsided. Hopefully it goes all away. The hydrogen peroxide seemed to help a lot."

[YEA] 07/27/2007: Veronica from Toronto, Cananda writes: "Honestly for all you ladies you have yeast infections hydrogen peroxide does the trick - for me in a single dose! I googled natural remedies and was told about mixing 1 tablespoon per cup. I used two cups [of water] with 2 tablespoons [of h202] and a turkey baster to get it in there. Relief was immediate and my symptoms are gone after only ONE use! I will never use anyting else but this EVER again. If I had the power to gurarentee it I would! I LOVE hydrogen peroxide and am learning just how effective it is for many ailments!"

INFORMATION
12/18/2008: Randall from Phx, AZ, USA writes: "An important thing to remember is MALES get Yeast Infections also!! If a woman has a yeast infection it could pass very easily through sexual contact with a partner, And vice-versu. A reason why you might be having reoccurring problems is because after curing it you just receive the infection from your partner again.
Both you and your partner need to be cured of it to stop the infection from reoccurring.
But even so, as hard as these fungal infections are to kill, this is not the only reason for reoccurring infections.
A great free website dedicated to info about yeast infection and NATURAL HOME REMEDIES is:
http://www.yeastinfectionadvisor.com -- hope this helps!"
06/19/2011: Rob from San Fernando, California replies: "I have had a Eureka moment about this issue that I would like to share with you. I have noted that when women performed oral sex and intercourse followed right after, a yeast infection on the women followed soon. But when I changed that pattern and washed the penis after oral sex preceding intercourse, there was never a yeast infection. So my advise is to have the male wash his penis with soap and water after oral sex when intercourse is to follow. This is not a cure but a very powerful prevention tool. There may be other causes of yeast infection, but I've found that this was a major one."

[YEA] 07/23/2007: Jay from Jackson, MS writes: "I have very sensitive skin, so condoms, dryer sheets, and of course antibiotics can bring on a yeast infection. Step one is to avoid condoms and spermicide (for me) and using dryer sheets, particularly on underwear or athletic clothing that is close to the skin. To treat, I have had great success with bathing in lemon or lime water. This is probably more gentle than apple cider vinegar. Yeast needs a basic enviroment to live, and a healthy vagina is slightly acidic, so you want to return your environment gradually and gently to normal. Also - sperm is basic, so wash thoroughly after sexual activity to avoid creating a "good home" for excessive bacteria or yeast. There are also antifungal natural ear drops that are a little better than using a strong chemical treatment that you could try. For bacteria, I find that eating yogurt and probiotics during antibiotic courses, garlic, and avoiding triggers like dryer sheets helps as well. Hope this helps someone out there!"

06/03/2006: Shell from Illinois writes: "I used Monostat 7 and it made my symptoms worse. The burn and itch increased and I was about to go out of my mind. The next morning things were swollen and they weren't previous to the treatment of Monistat 7. I just got through drinking the apple cider vinegar and water. Now I am waiting to see if it works. If nothing else I am glad to know that there is alternatives to the messy and nasty creams."

10/07/2011: Erica from Fayetteville, Nc writes: "Wow! I got my first ever yeast infection and was MISERABLE!! I couldn't stop itching, and it made it worse. I was reluctant to go to the doctors and didn't want to spend 20 bucks on some monistat, feeling like I wanted to die, I began researching my symptoms and came across this. I went to the store and bought plain yogurt, apple cidar vinegar, peroxide and an anti-itch cream. I began bathing in just a little water and squirting myself with ACV and soaking in it ( which it BURNED like I have NEVER felt) drinking a little dilluted with water, forcing plain yogurt down my throat and using peroxide once I was finished with the ACV. It seemed to take a day before I really noticed that I was feeling better, by day two I knew I was healing and today I felt almost normal. Going to go do my ACV bath before bed and hope I wake up with no signs of a YI. Not sure which one of these remedies helped most, but something sure did!!"

11/17/2010: Kj from Los Angeles, Ca writes: "1ST.- FOR UTI TAKE A SHOT OF APPLE CIDER VINEGAR WHEN YOU FIRST START FEELING IT COMING ON. IT'S HARD TO KEEP DOWN BUT IT WORKS. ANYTIME I FEEL A UTI COMING ON A TAKE A SHOT AND IF IT'S REALLY BAD I TAKE TWO IN A ROW. I USE TO HAVE TO TAKE A LOT OF MEDICATIONS FOR UTI AND THEY NEVER KEPT IT AWAY. THIS DOES!
2ND- YEAST INFECTIONS:STOP EATING ALL SUGAR! CARBS ANYTHING WITH YEAST IN IT! AND NOT FOR A COUPLE OF DAYS BUT LIKE 3 WEEKS OR SO. ALSO DRINKING THE APPLE CIDER VINEGAR HELPS WITH YEAST INSIDE YOUR STOMACH. IF YOU KEEP GETTING THEM. I HAVE BEEN TESTED FOR EVERYTHING AND NOTHING IS WRONG WITH ME BUT FOR SOME REASON I STILL GET THEM. IT'S BECAUSE I NEVER REALLY GOT RID OF THEM TO BEGIN WITH. AFTER YOU GET RID OF IT TRY USING SOME OVER THE COUNTER MEDICATION LIKE ONCE A WEEK JUST TO KEEP IT AT BAY. AND I AM GOING TO TRY THE GARLIC THING AFTER I GO TO THE STORE. I HERD THE GARLIC GEL TABS ARE GOOD TO USE ALSO. SO I WILL LET YOU KNOW HOW THAT WORKS.
3RD- BV THIS IS MY BIGGEST PROBLEM TO DATE. I CAN'T GET RID OF THIS AND IT'S KILLING ME. IT HURTS I AM BLOATED AND IN PAIN. AND THE SMELL ISN'T BAD RIGHT NOW BUT IT HAS BEEN BEFORE. FORGET ABOUT HAVING SEX.. WHAT IS THAT... I JUST GOT DONE THE GEL STUFF FROM THE DR ONLY HELPED WHILE I TOOK IT TWO DAYS LATER AND I AM BACK IN PAIN AND IT MADE ME HAVE GIANT WHITE SPONGY DISCHARGE TOTALLY FREAKED ME OUT.. I HAD TO GET IT OUT WITH MY FINGER. I THOUGH IT WAS A YEAST INFECTION BUT IT WASN'T DR FORGOT TO TELL ME THIS. THANK GOD ANOTHER GIRL WROTE ABOUT IT AND NOW I AM NOT SO SCARED OR FREAKED OUT. I STARTED TAKING LIVE Acidophilis IT'S LIKE YOGURT BUT NOT.. THIS IS WHAT I AM GOING TO START TAKING EVERYDAY AND I WILL LET EVERYONE KNOW IF THIS WORKS OR NOT. FOLIC ACID AS HIGH OF A DOSE AS I CAN FIND, B12 COMPLEX TABLET WHICH DISSOLVES 5,000MG TAKE TWO PILLS 2 TIMES A DAY AND IT ALSO HAS FOLIC ACID IN IT. VITAMIN C, LIVE ACIDOPHILIS PILLS 3 TIMES A DAY FOR AS LONG AS IT TAKES. I AM GOING TO TAKE GARLIC PILLS TO KEEP YEAST OUT OF MY SYSTEM AS WELL.
THIS IS A FIGHT I HAVE BEEN PUTTING OFF FOR YEARS. I LOVE SUGAR AND CARBS AND TO DRINK ONCE IN A WHILE. PLUS I JUST QUIT SMOKING WHICH CAN ALSO CAUSE YEAST PROBLEMS. LADIES IT IS UP TO US TO TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES THESE STUPID DRS HAVE TO GIVE US THIS BAD MEDICATION BECAUSE ITS THE LAW OR SOMETHING. WE HAVE TO STAY STRONG AND SUPPORT EACH OTHER IN THIS FIGHT. IF MEN ONLY COULD UNDERSTAND WHAT WE HAVE TO GO THROUGH. IT'S HELL... HOPE TO FIND ALL OF YOU IN GOOD HEALTH. KEEP WRITING AND DON'T GIVE UP HOPE ON YOURSELF AN THE FIGHT WE ALL HAVE WITHIN OURSELVES TO EAT RIGHT AND TAKE CARE OF OURSELVES."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 03/24/2010: Futurend from Huntsville, Alabama, Usa writes: "I have been dealing with a vaginal yeast infection for 2 years now. It began as a BV/ yeast infection. It took one year to get rid of the bacterial infection and now the yeast is extremely hard to kill. I have tried everything from increasing my water intake (always with lemon), taking B vitamins, folic acid, inserting probiotics, orally taking probiotics, eating yogurt daily, ACV 2 tablespoons morning and night, ACV douching, yogurt douching, tea tree oil douching and tampons, eliminating alcohol, carbs, and sugars, diflucan and OTC creams and suppositories do nothing, and now I've recently finished a round of itraconazole. But, two days ago I decided what the hell I'm just going to make my own remedy... I have created an herbal douch that seems to be working wonders! I am only 2 days in but I will keep updating my findings... the recipe is 3 heaping tablespoons of plain organic yogurt, 1 part ACV, 3 oil of oregano (mediterranean) capsules at 460 mg, and 1 part dandelion and cinnamon tea made by boiling 1 or 2 cinnamon sticks with 2TBS chopped dandelion root and blend that all together in a blender. It needs to be refrigerated and I recomend just making enough for one day of douching (once in the morning and once at night) I expect to be done with this in 5 to 10 days. I will keep everyone updated! I am excited to feel my abdominal pain gone and pinkness returning! I will continue to take yogurt, ACV and the oil of oregano orally."
Replies03/29/2010: Futurend from Huntsville, Al replies: "Ok... I've updated my regimen from the above post. The oil of oregano was a little harsh even when the mixture was diluted half with water so this is what I've been doing the past 3 days with amazing results. I blended 3 whopping TBS yogurt, 2 TBS acv, 2 TBS aloe, 3 garlic cloves, 3 refrigerated probiotics (containing acidophilus, rhamosus, and rhuteri) and 2 TBS olive oil (must be refrigerated). Instead of douching which is harder on my body I have just been inserting this mixture and on the outside. Also I take yogurt, oil of oregano, previously mentioned probiotic mixture, acv, and vitamen C daily. The redness has gone away a lot and I have not noticed any discharge. I apply this mixture several times a day whenever I feel the itch returning. I hope this is my answer...I guess a full 2 weeks is in order to prove this one way or another."

[NAY] 02/11/2009: LH from Slidell, La writes: "Okay so I have been suffering from either a yeast infection or bv... havent quiet figured out which one it is. I have the itching so im thinking it is probably a yeast infection. I have tried everything...acv douche, h202 douche, folic acid pills, yogurt, acidiphillous pills, garlic pills, Rephresh, Yeast gaurd. Now im trying the b-comlex 50, nicinamide 100 and liquid b-12. It kind of worked on the first day but now I dont think it is really working. I havent tried the Boric acid inserts bc i dont know where to find the boric acid. Also I was wondering if you can insert the Nicinamide and the B-complex pills into your vagina? If anyone has any remedies that they would like to share with me or any comments this would be very helpful! Thanks!"
Replies02/11/2009: Katrina from DC, DC/USA replies: "Take a piece of garlic, tear off the skin, wrap it in gauze, tie some tooth floss around it, and make sure you are using a long piece of floss since you are making a garlic tampon. Insert this tampon into your vagina and sleep with it overnight. Remove it in the morning, and do this for 3-4 days until your yeast infection is gone. If the infection is real serious, ask your doctor to prescripe the yeast infection pill, I think it's called diflucan, and take that in addition to the garlic tampon treatment. Note, if your period is coming up, this might help get rid of the yeast infection as well. And also, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you not consume products that have sugar (or minimize sugar as much as possible) since this is food to the yeast. It might not hurt to take yougurt pills and garlic pills as welll, though make sure you eat before you take the garlic pills or they might hurt your stomach. Goldenseal and echinacia pills might help your imune system too. I'm not a doctor, but this method has worked for me."
