12/30/2008: Gean from Salina, KS writes: "I would like to know if it is important to ingest fat daily (good fats such as coconut oil, etc.), or if the body can use stored fat to process the fat soluble vitamins. For those who have plenty of stored fat, would it be better to go on a fat free diet for a while, as long as one eats healthy foods and not the toxic processed diet foods? Thank you very much."

Replies
01/01/2009: Rosy from Orlando, Fl replies: "Never go on a fat free diet, or low fat. Use healthy cold pressed oils. Your body needs fats to work properly. Stored fat will not work the same way, as it has changed forms, and functions. Stored fat if used will be for energy, and only after muscle, and other tissues."

01/20/2007: Jatarra from Fort Myers, FL writes: "I hate to say it but I was raised on a the poverty level of society as I was growing up. My grandmother would do everything she could to keep our family fed and and clothed. She would buy good food, but also some not so healthy choices. Like hot dogs by the pack, and soda by the Liter, because she felt it was cost efficient. So we would normally end up having to buy food that would last the whole month, which included pork, hams, corn dogs, and etc...

If your a child being raised in a crowded home, you usually have to eat what's served on your plate regardless of nutrition. Well what's good for the goose is not necessary good for the gander. Just because Sean is 16 and is a growing boy who play football, doesn't mean 10 year old Sherry can eat a pound of potatoes smothered in butter and a huge sloppy Joe.

I was overweight most of my life. I used to be 180 pounds when I was 16, now I'm down to 145. It's all because I change my life style. Growing up I was mentally depressed. When you are depressed you tend to eat more, because your trying to fulfill an emotional need with food, but all it does is lead to weight gain. Also not having healthy choices leads to bad health. We also eat when were bored, if you having nothing to occupy your mind having some food is one of the first things that tends to go on the I do list.

When I was a little girl I was sheltered and wasn't allowed to do much in the way of having a social life. My guardian was overly protective and gave me a lot negative self talks. I couldn't go to the neighbor's house because their were boys there, but my brothers could go just about anywhere they wanted and could roughhouse all they liked. Play sports, have friends, and participate in after school activities.

I came from an African American family. My family couldn't understand why I would eat so much and they would ridicule me because of my weight and size, and to this day their are lot of emotional scars left behind. I dread gaining and weight and I am constantly trying to get down to 125. It was all ignorance and I suffered alot for something I didn't cause or couldn't help.

The point of what I am trying to say is that children who are overweight cannot help because parents and guardians simply are not giving them right choices. It pains me to see older and younger alike who are in the category of obesity. I want to tell people so badly that the food choices they are making is what's causing this epidemic, as well emotional problems."

05/03/2011: Jose from Leander, Tx, Usa replies: "Hi Jatarra, I was in the same position when I was a child growing up. Buying loads of noodles because they were cheap and fill you up. I to gained alot of weight growing up at my biggest I was 305lbs. My food choices were horrible high in fat hardly any fruits and vegetables or lean meats. I was 17years old just finished my Junior year in high school when I got tired of being 305lbs so that summer leading to my senior year I changed my diet which consisted of turkey sandchiches and drinking lots of water and green tea while playing a lot of basketball. That summer I lost close to sixty pounds. After graduation I kept gaining weight losing weight it was a back and forth thing for me.

This was my life until I started running and working out. It was not much what I was doing a run around 2 blocks and 20push ups 5pull ups and 50 sit ups was how I started but I kept at it and I started losing so much weight after that and my streghnth increased and so did my endurance. I do admit that it is hard to find motivation when you get teased but if you stick with it you can do it. I had lost at the most 170lbs just by running and doing simple workouts at home. Now I am trying to gain muscle mass but it takes years to change lifestyles and dedication with self motiviation.

Now I weigh 150lbs all I do is push ups pull ups ab work out and I took a sandbag from the side of the roads put it in a bagpack and I use that as my weight. My diet consits of lots of fruits bananas, oranges, apples. Lots of vegetables and lots of grilled chicken breast and fish."

I just started taking 1T cider vinegar every day in my water for about 2 weeks. I noticed my eyes are not as dry in the mornings as they usually are."

cabbage -diced
grill chicken - (optional)

green onion - diced
cilantro - diced
slice almonds

dressing

2/3 cup olive oil
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar or more to taste
1 tsp sea salt(optional)
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp soysauce(optional)
1 tsp hot mustard or
cayenne pepper (my choice)
2 tsp organic maple syrup Grade B

You can do variations of this, I added raisins, or dried cherries. It worked for me losing weight, depression, hormonal acne, joint pain, and I recovered faster from my c-section."

[YEA]  05/22/2009: Longtail4711 from Seattle, WA writes: "Honey for Weight Loss and Stress:

I'm a big fan of honey for helping lose and maintain weight loss. My biggest problem with dieting is not that I don't enjoy daily exercise and vegetables, but I could not get rid of my sugar cravings in order to stop binging on cookies and chocolate! Especially in the afternoon and evening. It was stressing me out so bad I'd end up quitting and just yo-yoing my weight again. So read about honey, and thought it was worth a try. I started eating 1 TBS organic blackberry honey along with sprinkling of cinnamon on half a slice of toasted whole wheat pita bread. Perks me right up and gives me energy, and it gets rid of my sugar cravings! It's easy now to ignore high-fat fare, and I get a nutritious snack in the process that I don't have to feel guilty about. I've lost 64 pounds so far in the last year!"

[YEA]  04/04/2009: Chu from Edmond, Oklahoma writes: "i have been drinking honey and cinnamon tea for about a month and have lost 10lbs i don't really change anything about my diet, however i noticed somedays i do eat less and do not have the munchies, but somedays i will pigout and not gain any weight,,,i drink it mainly at nite, and sometimes in the morning if i have time,,,i do add a ginger/honey flavored tea to it to mask the taste of the cinnamon and honey

recipe, i put in two shakes of cinnamon
one spoon of honey to taste, if it doesn't taste good you're not going to drink it, so adjust accordingly and use a tea that is to your taste,,,

it is important to use ceylon cinnamon (Cinnamomum Zeylanicum) not cassia cinnamon (Cinnamomum Cassia) because ceylon cinnamon only has .004% Coumarin and cassia has 5% Coumarin. Relatively small amounts of coumarin can damage the liver of particularly sensitive individuals.

i also found if i used pure raw unprocessed unfiltered honey the results were much faster,,,raw unprocessed honey is not runny and is in a solid state much like butter.

for those who like to follow recipes exactly
i use Owl brand Ginger Honey tea
Wee Bee Honey Naturally Raw
cinnamon from http://www.a1spiceworld.com/cinnamon_ground.html because most cinnamon found in stores are cassia or they are not even labeled, so it was easier to be sure i had the correct kind when i bought online, this was the cheapest place i could find it,,, i bought the 8oz size which comes in a convient shaker, this is lasting me a long time i've barely made a slight dent in the bottle.

hope this helps some of you guys with your weight loss goals! "

HYPNOSIS

YEA

[YEA]  06/15/2010: Janie from Mattoon, Illinois writes: "I have not seen this posted here on your website and am not sure as to what category this subject would fall into...perhaps both mind/body category and/or for weight loss , but I have now found me a healthy way of losing weight and living right, and it seems to be working for me totally! As of March 27th, 2010, I have lost twelve pounds and, although it has been gradual, I seem to be shedding the fat at a steady pace, and I believe that is the best way to do it. I have always been a somewhat healthy eater with a few (a lot of) temptations here and there, but I think I was just eating too much of all that "healthy" stuff! I now believe I have my eating under control and I owe it all to self - help "Hypnotherepy" (and of course, your website!).
I purchased a self-hypnosis book and audio CD online and it has been worth every penny! There were so many to chose from. I bought a couple before I actually found one that really worked and spoke just to me. Not only do I now have my weight under control, I am more at peace and life is truly worth living every day.I now eat to live instead of living to eat! And...all my sweet cravings went away. I now drink only pure, clean water (nothing else - I don't even want or crave anything else!). No cakes, cookies, candies, white sugars, white breads, etc. All those cravings are NOW completely gone. I don't have the desire for any of that stuff and this therepy has really helped in that respect. it took a couple weeks of listening to the audio CD daily until it kicked in and I finally "Got It" so if you decide to take this approach, give it a couple weeks to sink in.... ...It doesn't just happen in one session...

It is a form of brainwashing but I believe it's a good kind of brainwashing. You definately have to be open to this kind of therepy as well, going into it with a positive mind, knowing that it will be working for you. No negativity whatsoever! You can only get out of it, what you put into it.

My hypnotherepy session begins every morning before I get out of bed with a half hour tape session (using headphones). I do breathing exercises (kinda like yoga) along with it and during the whole session I am repeating positive affirmations. Stuff like... I am in complete control of my eating habits", "I deserve to be fit and healthy"...."My self esteem grows stronger and stronger every day", "I remain a healthy eater forever", "I deserve to be fit and healthy", etc. It also offers some imagery sessions to so you can focus on what you WANT to look like when you accomplish your ideal weight.

I am now strong believer (and a witness), that if you tell yourself positive things every day, you begin to believe them more and more. I think all of us need positive feeback constantly, to remind us how wonderful we really are as human beings, and what our capabilities are.. in order for us to function to our full capacity! I am now filling up my mind, my body and my soul, not to mention my tummy, with healthy words of encouragement, and really believing them... and the weight is coming off... Not only do we have to get rid of the junk food that we have put into our bellies, but we have to get rid of all the junk that has been fed into our minds throughout our lifetime, by beginning to replace it with healthy, positive thoughts. As of today, I am so full of energy.....so full of life..... .... and so full of.... H20! (Smiling as I take a sip).... Soooooo... Happy dieting. Happy living. I hope you find that which what works for you! Take care. Janie"

INFARED SAUNA

[YEA]  07/13/2008: Robert Henry from Ten Mile, Tennessee writes: "I agree with most on this site, but why does infrared sauna not get discussed? Sweating from deep in your fat is when you give up your toxins. That is where your toxins are stored and this site gives little credience to this. The reason folks bring back carts at WalMart is that they are so fat that they need assistance to shop. They put their big bellies in the cart and away they go. Obesity is not about over eating, it's about toxins. Once I learned this, the inches began to shuck. Lost a lot of weight but mostly inches. Clean your bowels, clean your liver, clean your lymph.

An infrared sauna is just part of the solution. How 'bout us discussing it?"

The main point is that toxicity leads to obesity - it is the body's attempt to protect itself from all the toxins by storing them in fat, away from major organs that are already too overloaded with poison."

JACKIE'S MIRACLE BREAD RECIPE

YEA

[YEA]  10/09/2008: Jackie from Grand Rapids, Minnesota writes: "This bread really does fill you up and keep you from snacking. this is the best tasting recipe for it that i've found. 2 cups nonbromated unbleached white flour--1 cup spelt flour--bought both at the healthfoodstore. 1/4 cup toasted wheat germ grocerystore brand in cereal ailse--1 pkg. rapid rise yeast--1-1/2 cups of warm water--1/4 cup brown sugar--1 tsp honey--1 tsp salt--1/4tsp ground ginger-- 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon--2 tbsp canola oil--3/4 cup dried fruits, dark or golden raisins, apricots, or pineapple, or a mixture. also 2 handfuls of raw millet from health food store. i measure out all the different flours wheat germ and millet and dried fruits in separate bowls. i measure the brown sugar, honey, salt, cinnamon, ginger and oil together in another bowl. heat 1-1/2 cups water to 110 degrees, i use a thermometer.in a large bowl empty 1 pkg yeast and add the warm water, next the sugar, salt and oil mixture, add 2 cups of the white flour and beat to make a batter then gradually work the rest of the ingredients in, the dried fruits last. knead on lightly floured board 10 min, then let rise in greased bowl in warm place til double. i warm my oven slightly only few minutes and use a greased 4qt covered kettle, it conducts the heat. takes about 1 hr. punch down , divide in half and roll into loaves and place in greased loaf pans.let rise until double ( i use the oven method) remove from oven and preheat oven to 375 degrees. bake about 40 minutes. makes 2 small loaves. i doubled the recipe today, and made 2 large loaves, just realized i used 2 cups of water instead of 3, so that's why it didn't take so much flour, lol when cool, i slice it up and put it in freezer bags and freeze it. since i found this my desire to eat between meals has dropped to zero. my abdominal/ hip girth is going down. i feel so much better. i have more energy and better mental clarity. my mood is better too. i have a slice with each meal and i'm able to reduce portions without pangs and 1 slice around 8 or 9pm with a cup of green tea and then i don't snack at midnight when i get home from work. you must try for yourself, it's a miracle."
