MATCHES

2 YEA

[YEA]  07/26/2009: Corey from Salt Lake City, UT writes: "Wart cured with matches: My wife and I had fought for over a year to get rid of two warts on my daughters feet. Two trips to the doctor and several over the counter options, still nothing seemed to work. All other things would make the wart much smaller but would never make it disappear completely. Our neighbor told us about using wooden matches. Our application was slightly different than others I've seen described. We applied a small strip of duck tape over the wart with a hole in it to expose the wart. Essentially it is there to hold the match head in place. We cut the match head off and placed it in the hole. Lit the match and waited until it went out. Less than one week later the wart was gone and hasn't returned."

07/29/2009: G from SF, CA replies: "I can't believe this was even allowed to be posted!! I thought submissions were screened first to weed out the weirdos and plain stupidity?"

07/30/2009: Linda from York County, Maine replies: "To "G from SF,CA"....have you ever tried the match cure? Or used duct tape to alleviate a wart? Don't knock it unless you've tried it....and if it didn't work for you - OH Well, don't knock it anyhow. Didn't your momma teach you it isn't nice to call anyone 'stupid'??"

10/17/2009: Corey from Salt Lake City, Ut replies: "The only form of stupidity I'm aware of is ignorance. If you had actually tried for yourself you would realize this isn't as crazy as you make it seem. I'm not injuring my child, nor myself, because the same technique worked for me."

EC: Sorry Corey, that nasty post from "G" should never have been posted on the site. Apologies.

[YEA]  02/12/2007: Gladys from Las Vegas, NV writes: "I had a wart on my right pinky finger on and off for years. I used the commercial wart removers and the wart would always return. One day, I was complaining to my brother-in-law about the wart that kept returning. He told me to light a match and extinguish it. He told me when the match was cold to just rub it on my finger (where the wart was) and to do it a few times a day until the wart disappeared. Of course, I thought he was nuts, but I followed his instructions and quess what? The wart has not returned in over 30 years! Maybe this will work for someone. Thanks for all the great ideas on home remedies. I love your site. It's one of the best! P.S. Just use the commercial matches that you buy to light your stove or cigarettes."

MILKWEED

3 YEA

[YEA]  08/09/2006: Hogpainter from West Salem, OH writes: "I had thirteen warts on my hands and a planters wart on my heel. Dr.s could not get rid of them. I found the milkweed cure. tried it and it worked. I've since recomended it to many, including my own children. all with the same sucess. The easiest way we found to use it is to apply the milk from a milkweed pod to a bandaid and apply it once a day for two weeks to each wart to be removed. Guarantee this to work! The reason for the bandaid is two fold. First the milk is sticky and accumulates lint when exposed. The second is the milk dries white and is very obvious in a situation we would rather not be drawing attention to. Try it -- you won't be disappointed!"

MULTIPLE REMEDIES TRIED

1 YEA

[YEA]  10/17/2008: Bashar from Amman, Jordan writes: "I have had several warts on my face (more than 20). I went to many physicans In Ammman,Jordan .they used to say all the time that the Nytrogyn remedy is the only proper one .I applied it 5-6 times .the warts used to reappear and produce another ones. I paid the phyisicans more than US$300 .I also used Solycic acid .it was useless because the warts reappeared again .

I was quite frustrated ,did know where to go until I started using the internet searching for sheep home remedies .

Found out in the web that Banana peel, garlic oil and tee tree oil are the most appropriate home remedies .I ordered 100% oraganic tee tree oil from desert essence .
I used it 2 times daily .I used the garlic oil as well as 2 time aday. the banana peel was used once before sleeping.I just rubbed it on the wart.

on the same time i started to treat myself internally by taking Omega 369.
1.2 grams contains borage oil, flax seed oil and fish oil .that was essential for enhancing the Immune system .

the warts have been gone and have never returned back .Thanks 2 Allah"

NAIL POLISH

2 YEA

[YEA]  03/02/2009: Candi from Knoxville, TN writes: "Hello Everyone * If you have a nasty plantar wart(s), PLEASE READ THIS! I'm 31 years old and I have had these nasty plantar warts on the bottom of my big toe for 2-3 years. It's the size of a quarter(in clusters) on my big toe and it has spread to my other toe's and on several other smaller spots on the bottom of my foot. They spread, because I would exfoliate my heels and also would try and "sand" down the wart.(PLEASE DON'T DO THIS) warts are very contagious. It would also swell up when it was wet. YUCK! I have tried everything possible to get rid of this nasty thing. OTC wart removers, Peroxide, Duct Tape, Alcohol and then I was watching an episode of "The Doctors" a lady had called in and said she had used clear "topcoat" finger nail polish on her sons wart and it was gone in a few days. So, I said what the heck.... I will try that too! I applied the nail polish every night after my shower. Every 3 days I would peel the layers of polish off the wart. Each time I would peel the built up polish off, you could see small layers of the wart coming off. I cont. to do this for a few weeks. I was not going to stop. Then as I notice each week how it was getting smaller, smaller and smaller. WOW I am so amazed and just estatic about this, IT"S COMPLETELY GONE!!! NO scarring, no markings, nothing....just normal clean toe! So Amazing, I just had to share this with others!"

[YEA]  10/05/2007: Pearly from Singapore writes: "I noticed this wasn't mentioned. I use to have 2 warts near the base of my right thumb. They didn't hurt or irritate, but I hated that everone used to either cringe at them or ask me if the warts were painful when they saw the warts. The wart remover plasters never worked. I read from somewhere that nail polish can help to remover warts, so I gave that a try. I applied clear nail polish to the warts, repplying every so often to ensure that there was always a coating over the warts. The nail polish is a lot less noticable than a wart remover plaster is! I can't remember how long it took (probably just a month or so), but one day as I prepared to reapply the nail polish, I noticed that the warts were GONE. Not a single trace of them was left, and there was absolutely no scaring. The skin looked perfectly normal! I was so happy! It's been 3 years since then, and the warts have not come back."

OIL OF OREGANO

1 YEA

[YEA]  03/16/2008: Jackie from Fair Oaks, CA writes: "I have had a large plantar wart on the base of my foot for several years. Had tried over the counter remedies, went to a foot doctor and nothing seemed to work. I then started using Oreganol P73 (mixture of oil of oregano & extra virgin olive oil) 3 drops onto a band-aid then placing on top of the wart. I did this every day, and after 2-3 weeks the wart dissapeared! Amazing stuff, as the wart I had was very large and I thought I would never get rid of it."

ORANGE PEEL IN WHITE VINEGAR

1 YEA

[YEA]  08/27/2008: Nicola from Agassiz, Canada writes: "We tried the banana peel remedy for removing Warts for almost 2 months, but with no effect. Our doctor suggested soaking Orange peel in white vinegar for 1 week (in a sealed jar) and then applying the peel (white side down on the wart) with a bandaid at night (and removing in the morning). We did this for about a week and got dramatic results, within two weeks all the warts (that had been there for months) were gone. We tried everything from freezing, duct tape, banana peel etc. This was the only thing that worked."

PICKLING VINEGAR

1 YEA

[YEA]  10/18/2006: Colin from Mississauga, Ontario Canada writes: "I had a wart on my end of my thumb and the root was under my thumnail. I had tried the store remedies but they did not work. I decided to use Pickling Vinegar as apposed to Apple Cider. The reason was that Pickling Vinegar has a higher percentage of Acetic Acid @ 7%. Apple Cider and regular vinegar has only 5%. I placed the vinegar on a small cotton swab, placed it on the wart, then wrapped a few pieces of duct tape over to seal it in and allow not air to get in. I die this ever 2 to 3 days The wart was gone in 10 days. WARNING: The sting and pain I endured from the acidity was very intense for the first 4 days."

[YEA]  07/19/2008: Barbara from Oldsmar, Fl writes: "Rubbing the cut edge of a fresh white potatoe onto a planters wart on the sole of my daughter's foot about twice a day eliminated the wart within 2 or 3 days.We stored the potatoe we used in the refrigerator in saran wrap and then just cut off a thin slice from the previously cut edge and threw that slice away before rubbing the freshly cut edge on the potatoe. My stepfather, a country barber had heard about this remedy from some farmers in his shop. No pain whatsoever!"

[YEA]  10/31/2007: Irene from Hermosa, SD writes: "I used to have warts on the back of both hands. One day someone said to soak raw potato in white vinegar and then put on wart. Do this for 3-7 days and the wart will come off. It worked great and has for a number of others I have shared with. Make sure the potato covers only the wart or your skin will get burned. Potato only needs to soak for an hour or so"

[YEA]  Scott from Weaverville, NC writes: "I had hundreds of small warts, on my hands, and fingers. Also plantars warts the size of quarters on the bottom of each foot. I cut a small piece off of the top of a potatoe, and rubbed it on my warts several times a day, or whenever I had the notion. I wrapped the potatoe in cellophane, and put it in the fridge, for the next use. I did this for a few weeks, then one day, to my surprise, I woke up, and ALL of my warts had disappeared. Gone, just like they disappeared overnight."

SALICYLIC ACID

3 YEA

[YEA]  07/12/2008: Nadia Jovanovic from Chicago, Illinois writes: "Hello, I swear my life on this treatment. As a teenager i had only one wart . Really annoying i thought but was able to live with it. Couple of years later though the warts started spreading. You can imagine how embarrassing it was since they became quite visible.
My grandmas sister told me to put salicylic acid and to tomato on the warts and wrap them up. I did that twice a day putting generous amounts of acid on each wart and a peace of tomato. A week latter imagine my surprise THEY WERE GONE!!!!Have not had them since and I can tell you I had tried everything including burning with the really painful liquid nitrogen. It is a bit of a challenge to buy salicylic acid but you can definitely find it online if not in you local pharmacy. Good luck!!!"

[YEA]  11/27/2007: Patti from Canton, Ohio writes: "Remedy to kill plantar wart on foot. Ten years ago my son had a large plantar wart on the bottom of his foot so I decided to play Dr. and see what happened. The remedy I used is to soak the foot in very warm water (for about 15 minutes) right before bed, dry the foot completely, scrape top of wart gently with a knife, apply alcohol and let dry, apply any drugstore wart remover solution and let it dry, apply a bandaid, wrap in duct tape. Leave on until the following night and repeat nightly for six weeks. This remedy cured my sons plantar wart and it never came back! We were amazed. Consistancy is the key for success in using this remedy. This remedy can also be done immediately after the bath. Hope this remedy helps. "

[YEA]  05/05/2007: Moe from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA writes: "I removed a wart with Salicycle Acid found over-the-counter at any drug store. The problem is that the acid creates a callous over the wart so one must continually wear down the callous and wart using a callous file or pumous stone before each acid application 3 or 4 times per day. Use the stone or file wet before each acid application. Eventaully, one will arrive at the root of the wart but continue the applications for another few days until there is no sign of the wart and there is no pain when you apply pressure to the area. It took me about 1 week to become wart free."

SNAILS

2 YEA

[YEA]  05/24/2008: Siberianwolf from Omsk, Russia writes: "I did not know where to place this comment....I would like to tell you how I got rid of my warts after six years of suffering. I was in real despair. They were so unsightly all over my hands and I was frequently breaking down and crying and was so embarrassed to go shopping...yes. One day I went into our garden and picked up a garden snail and rubbed it over my warts then I went indoors to the bathroom and peed - yes you heard right!!- on them. I did this for three or four days several times a day and noticed a very dramatic effect. After 10 days or so they were completely gone with absolutely no scarring and never to return. How's that??!! And all at no cost and the snail did not have to die!"

05/25/2008: Sally from Birmingham, England replies: "I am not sure the snail had anything to do with curing your warts. It could be just the urine therapy on its own. I would not pick up a snail either, as in some areas they can carry the heartworm virus. People drink their own urine for cures, so i can quite believe the urine cured them."

[YEA]  05/03/2007: Jade from Whangarei, New-Zealand writes: "A few years ago i was working in forestry picking up wood anyway i ended up with heaps of warts on my hands (they call it working hands) i remembered my old family cure for warts which was to rub the slimy part of a snail over the wart. you only should need to do this once and they should be gone within 1-7 days. im pretty sure they were gone the next day this was years ago and they havent grown back sometimes it can be pretty hard to find a snail but if you check the grass on a wet night (easier to find in the country) you should be able to find some hope this helps"
