[YEA] 01/02/2012: Balikadam from North Bergen, Usa writes: "Hello Ted, I just wanted to tell you that You SAVED MY LIFE. I was diagnosed UC almost 1 year ago. My entire colon was UC. Doctor gave me Asacol and Canasa. They worked 3-4 months, after that stopped. I have done SCD diet. Scd diet worked for awhile after 5 months stopped to work. I was going to bathroom 20 times a day with bloody diarrhea.
I found your article on this website. I have been using humic acid 3 months. It cured my UC. As far as I can see that people can not find Humic acid on the web. I would like to suggest 2 website link. People can find them. Thank you so much, this has changed my life!
1. website (cheaper)
2. website (expensive)

I have a pure humic acid, 100% humic and I have not had great success with it. I have no idea why, but I was gonna look into a new humic supplement. Which one have you used from the 2 you mention? I will try that one! Thanks so much!"
01/03/2012: Timh from Louisville, Usa replies: "Anthony, I would add some milled flax seed during the Humic Acid cleanse as it will gently purge the colon of toxins. 1/2 spoon 2 daily. And why stop there, try some Dr. Christopher's "Red Clover Combination" for a whole body detox. These herbs will lose the bad stuff while the humic chelates for elimination."

I mean how much quantity, how to take, any specification for the Humic Acid, any idea where can I get it etc. It would be really helpful as currently I am having a flare-up.Devendra"

12/30/2011: Anthony from Philadelphia, Pa writes: "Hey Ted, How are you doing? I bought some humic acid powder and I'm not exactly sure how my measurements should be. It's 100% humic and is completely black and when I have mixed it, it is a little difficult. I'm not sure why, but eventually it does mix but leaves some sediment at the bottom. Should this happen and is it fine? This is the place I purchased it from (http://www.teravita.com/Products/Products.htm). If you copy and paste the link you will see the products, however I have the 100% so it's not there but the 90% humic is there and it's the same description but obviously the most potent.
Also, how much should I be mixing??? I have been putting regular water in about a glass liter jar and putting 1 and 1/2 teaspoons of the humic in it and mixing. I drink 1 ounce 2-3 times a day. Is this ok? Could you let me know what I should be doing? I feel no different at all or any changes with myself or colitis. Everything seems the same basically, however it's only been a few days!
Also, as I understand, there should be no taste, but I do get an earthy/rocky taste with this.... Is this normal since it's 100%? So is you could help me with these four points, I would appreciate it so much!
1. Is this humic fine?
2. Is this normal the way it mixes and sometimes alittle clumps at the bottom (sediment)?
3. Are my measurements fine?
4. The amount I take is fine?
Thanks!"

When I say "what they believe" I mean that I have all of the symptoms as someone with UC but all my test results come back negative. I have had 3 colonoscopys and 4 scopes but no answers. My colon walls are inflammed and have been taking asacol three times a day and when it's a bad flare up (blood in stool and diarrehea) then they put me on steriods. Nothing has seemed to work for a long period of time. I have read over the site about natural remedies and was interested in the Humic Acid results. This is all very new to me, I was wondering where I can get it and the dosage?? Thanks!!!"
Replies08/15/2011: Kay from In The Valley, Ca replies: "Have you been tested for celiac's? Your symptoms certainly point in that direction. You should read up on it and see if you think your symptoms match. Just a note, the test for celiac's isn't always totally reliable. Sometimes you have to do an elimination diet and see if it changes your health. Do some research before you see your doctor again. Good luck to you."

08/13/2011: Anthony from Philadelphia, Pa writes: "Hello Ted, how are you? I'm a 28 yr old male who has ulcerative colitis/proctitis, skin issues on scalp/face, and high mercury levels(scored a 7, when 2 was normal), and a white tongue that will not go away and always seems like something is in my throat. Well, I have read so much on this site and what you have posted. Thank you for it all. I have followed some with little results. So here goes: I recently recieved humic acid in liquid form and it says to take an ounce a day so I have been splitting it up in 3 doses and taking it that way. Its been about 6 days so far and I feel it's ok however where can I buy the kind of Humic you use? Maybe this isn't as potent? My proctitis has been better the last 2-3 weeks. I use a canasa supposity a day, take 2 grams vit C, vit E, 50 mgs Zinc citrate, and boswelli. I also alkalize using a whole lime and 1/2 tsp baking soda (using this for about 2 weeks). My bowel movements have been fine however sometimes it burns and there are alot of holes in my BM (Sorry, just wanted to explain). Tonight, I just added lugol's iodine to my humic acid (2 drops). Also, I dilute the humic acid with some water when I take it. I gonna try to get the cinnamon oil and aloe vera oil, but I definitely need the humic powder? Should I use another combo with the baking soda instead of the lime? Maybe potassium citrate?
I would like to explain why I'm taking the zinc, vit E, vit C.... I have this condition on my scalp and face where my follicles get clogged with keratin/sebum and then it oxidizes and it's preventing my beard hair from growing in some spots like the root is dead. It gets dry and oily at the same time (like it is compensating), itchy and when I get a haircut there are white little hard balls everywhere (assuming it's keratin/sebum). My hair is so rough and the sebum just wont stop and it's really weird. I do get some cyst, but I feel the zinc has helped with that but only that, not the oily, dry, rough, patches with keratin plugs. And lastly, I do have sinus problems where there is always mucous in my nose.
Thanks for reading and hopefully you can help me out! Take Care!"

From reading what you and others have been posting it seems as though you are taking Humic Acid in a liquid state. I was wondering does it make a difference to take it in tablet form? or is Liquid form best for UC? And if liquid form is better, would you be able to recommend a provider of it? I am unable to find it in liquid form. Thanks for all the help and best wishes! Rick"

I was taking 2ozs - 4 times per day at one point but now take it 3 times per day. Within 2 days I was feeling better, within 7 days I was seeing very little blood and within 29 days I actually had a somewhat solid BM. However, it has not as yet resolved all of my Diarrhea."

HUMIC ACID, CINNAMON OIL, ALOE VERA
10/10/2011: Katey from Pinole, California/usa writes: "For Ted: I have been diagnosed with uc/proctitis since June of this year (started to have symptoms since January 2011). I was prescribed asacol and took 12/day until about 1 month ago. My symptoms were reduced but my stool was still quite loose and I started to lose weight slowly because I was not absorbing. My weight loss to date is 44 lbs. And I continue to lose a bit. My hair has recently started to fall out and had some constipation about 2 weeks now. My skin looks fine but I don't have much fat.
I am unable to find humic acid. Any recommendations where I could find this in my area. I am taking 1/8 teaspoon magnesium citrate 1/2 teaspoon baking soda. Also I am not clear on how much cinnamon oil and aloe vera to use. I was so bad yesterday that I tried some jojoba oil and a drop of cinnamon oil; helped and had some relief from the gas in rectum.
Thanks very much."

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

[QUESTION] 12/22/2010: Eric from Iowa City, Ia, Usa writes: "Dear Ted,
I am 20 years old and I was diagnosed with UC about 10 months ago. Through this ten months my doctor prescribed me with Prednisone and Apriso. Those things did work for me to begin with, but after I got off the prednisone I flared up again, this happened about 3 times. So I gave up with the Apriso feeling like that wasn't working well enough and went to taking Boswellia, Turmeric, Olive Leaf Extract, and Aloe Vera Gel, all in capsules. This has been working very well for the last month or so but I still feel like a flare up could happen anytime.
So my main question is, is it safe for a person to take H2O2 with UC? I've read in some places that it is possible that it could rupture the colon... But then I have also read that it has healed and cured some peoples UC. Please advise! Thank you in advance!"
Replies12/23/2010: Elizabeth from Nashville, Tn replies: "I don't think ingesting H202 would be a good idea with UC, since the intestines are in a damaged and fragile state. You need to focus on soothing and healing the intestines. I would start drinking aloe vera juice, the kind that "tastes like spring water", can't mention the product name but starts with a "G". This doesn't have the properties of aloe that cause diarrhea, which people with UC don't need... Also look into herbs that soothe and heal the mucus membranes of the body.. Slippery Elm and Marshmallow Root are two good ones.. There are more. The turmeric was a lifesaver for me with my IBS-D.. It literally healed my IBS within weeks... I now take a maintenance dose every day. Do you take the turmeric with a healthy fat? This makes all the difference in the world. I hope you continue to feel better. Good luck!"
12/26/2010: Eric from La, Ca, Usa replies: "I do take turmeric but only in capsules. I know that there is a powder form that may be better to take, but how would I go about taking it? Would just mixing it in water work? I'll definitely look into getting slippery elm or marshmellow root, I would still like to try the H2O2 but will hold off on that for a later time, I have just heard many great things about it. Theres a book that I read and was about a lady who took H2O2 with colitis and said shes been symptom free ever since. Thanks for the advice I appreciate it so much!"
12/22/2011: Toronto from Toronto, Ontario replies: "Hydrogen peroxide says "poison" on my label. I thought if you drink this stuff you can go blind literally. Who gave you the idea you can drink that stuff internally? There are limits the human body can deal with before it causes death or permanent damage, don't mess with already known to be dangerous stuff you don't understand fully. If God put a healing property in something to cure ulcerative colitis, I don't believe He put it into Hydrogen Peroxide, look to more natural methods of bacteria killing in things like ginger, lemon juice, garlic, cabbage, oil of oregano, etc."

L-GLUTAMINE

[YEA] 04/18/2009: A Roper from Sydney, Australia, NSW Australia writes: "I recently had a flare of UC, got home from hospital feeling about 50%, kept taking the steroids (50mg), salofalk (2 grams), colifoam twice a day and wasn't seeing any improvement... so, after doing some research I added 5mg 3 times a day of L-Glutamine to my routine 30 minutes before meals and saw improvement almost immediately. I'd say I'm 90% to remission and I've only been taking the stuff for a week. I haven't felt this good in 2 years.
I also take a probiotic once a day, 5mg metamucil at dinner and 25mg aloe juice first thing in the morning, but I've been taking those for awhile and although they help, I don't believe they resonsible for this major improvement.
It should be noted that my UC is so bad that traditional medicine has not been effective at keeping me in remission and my doctor said if I have another flare I have to have surgery. L-Glutamine may just save me yet."
10/13/2009: A Roper from Sydney, Australia replies: "Just wanted to update: I have not had a flare of ulcerative colitis since February 09 and as much as I believe L-glutamine has helped, the main thing for me has been avoiding antibiotics. I realised they were causing my colitis. Change of season, sinus infection, antibiotics, flareup.... I picked up on the pattern and isolated the issue. I'm perfectly healthy now and don't think I ever had ulcerative colitis - just a reaction to antibiotics."
09/29/2010: Dante from Houston, Texas replies: "Hey, back in the beginning of February of 2010 I had to go to the hospital and they told me I had colitis. Well, now that you mentioned antibiotics, I remembered that earlier in the year I had been given antibiotics for my tonsilitis. But I wanted to make sure if it was before or after my flare up. I just found my pill bottle and the date I was prescribed those antibiotics was about 15 days prior to me getting very ill with colitis. I think I may just have found what caused my colitis. In my opinion, penicillin will definitely kill off your good flora. However, I was given different antibiotics specifically for calming down colitis flare ups. So I think penicillin is really bad for your intestines. It attacks the bad and the good. Thanks for your info. Shsu.justice@yahoo.com"

[YEA] 02/09/2009: Carol from Toronto, ON writes: "L-Glutamine (high dose): Upon the suggestion of a nutritionist I went to see, she claimed she didn't have a single ulcerative colitis patient to a L-glutamine. The one she gave me has a high dose of L-Glutamine along with other herbs like Slippery Elm and Marshmallow Root and not much else (sorry I don't have a bottle here). It's a powder you mix with water every morning 1/2 hour before you eat anything and you need to do this for 3-5 weeks before you see results. And let me tell you I was shocked in 3w when it finally went away after over a year of daily attacks.
The premise of how it works is that when you have impaired digestion, your body doesn't break down proteins efficiently causing you to become deficient in amino acids. L-Glutamine is the amino acid necessary for rebuilding you intestinal wall which sheds itself every 5 days or so? and without that amino acid becomes damaged. By giving yourself pure form, in liquid (requiring no digestion of pills etc) you give your intestines what it needs to make a healthy lining. It was really mad at the time that something so simple recommended by a nutritionist of all people cured my colitis when I had spent huge $$$ seeing naturopathic Dr's, chinese herbalists and acupuncturists, some of which helped temporarily but the L-glutamine was the magic ticket for me.
It took a lot longer for my digestion to return to normal but the L-glutamine totally took care of my diarrhea, spasms and bleeding in 3w of faithfully drinking it every morning.
I just wanted to mention to be wary of psyllium fiber. The first ND I tried gave me a supplement so close to the one that worked but it made me worse and I know now that I can't take psyllium fiber AT ALL, but I can handle the flax fiber in this drink. And I also discovered that multi-vitamins cause me to bleed. I can only take whole food vitamins. Two things you might want to watch out for."
05/15/2009: Michael from LA, CA replies: "You mentioned that is took a lot longer to get your digestion back on track, what was your key to success with that??
Thank you thank you,
Michael"
11/03/2009: Andrey from Moscow, Russia replies: "I'm suffering from UC for a 5 consequtive years with few short remissions due to hydro-cortison and salofalc therapy. However, it does not help for last year or so. I've read your notice about L-Glutamine. I checked over internet and has found lots of it, in pills, powder and something else. But it all refers to some fitness and bodybuilders's sites. Is it the same remedy that you meant? If yes, what type is better - pills, powder or any? Please advise."
02/17/2010: Macky from New Iberia, La replies: "Barley Grass Capsules and Slippery Elm Capsules are very helpful for colon diseases. They helped me with crohns disease from the bleeding and diarrea. Please read about these herbs. I also quit drinking cows milk and caffeine."
06/01/2011: 4a_with_love from Ottawa, Canada replies: "Hi:
I heard that U-Colitis can be maintained in remission using Clay ( Betonite clay) ( internal or compression); can someone confirm that this works or not;

I have had it for about 10 years (I may not have it any more though ;-) ). The thing that worked for me was Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS). Most people are skeptical because of the word "Miracle", but I highly recommend it. "Don't knock it, until you've tried it." It's basically Sodium Chlorite / Chlorine Dioxide. You may want to do a little bit of research, but it wasn't that bad for me at all. I would go into details, but it takes about 20 pages to describe. I have a log online. If you want the log, just contact me and I'll send you the URL.
I can eat virtually anything I want (I'm still getting used to being normal again). The "treatment" took about 2-3 months, but I feel BRAND NEW!!!!"

11/14/2008: Matt from Staten Island, NY replies: "hey can you please send me the url to more info of this MMS solution that helped you ? thanks."
11/16/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hello Matt, You can google Miracle Mineral Supplement and download the first half of Jim Humble's book for free, it has a nominal fee for downloading the 2nd half of his book. He is a very interesting guy and his long time persistence in trying to get this information out to the general public is to be commended. It is rather lenghy but interesting reading.
For a short summary of how it works and what it does, you can pull up the reference that mentions MMS - "no miracle, just wonderful chemistry". I think this fellow's site calls himself the Phaelosopher.
Have fun reading."
11/19/2008: Ana from USA replies: "Please send me the online log. I am interested where did you get it from and also did you take any other supplements/medicines etc with it. I hope your online has all these details. Thanks!!"
12/02/2008: Aggie from Chicago, Illinois replies: "Well, it turns out I may have spoken a bit too soon or went off of it a little bit too soon. I have been having a few issues lately. Either way, I am back on the MMS again and now I'm not sure if the effects are Herxheimer or UC now.
Also, I reread the MMS protocol again and it turns out I never actually finished the entire process. So, I attribute this second coming to that. I only did the 15 drops about 5 times total. It turns out, you're supposed to do the 15 drops twice a day for an entire week.
I'm not sure if the URL will get cut or not, but the log is at:

11/15/2010: Ed from Miami, Fl replies: "I'm a regular joe blow that had UC couple years ago and took Miracle Mineral Solution (MMS). And never had UC agian. Give a try it might help like it did me."
[NAY] 02/09/2011: Aggie from Woodridge, Il, Usa replies: "Quoting myself from 09/09/2008. It turns out the MMS did NOT really do the trick for me. I'm still ailing, but I've further found that most of the time the changes are due to stress. It may be different for many others, but for me that seems to be it."

Again, check with your family physician. Many doctors are not into natural remedies and just write a prescription that has more side effects than worth taking. I've been hospitalised for several times and had bood transfusion etc. I tried all the remedies on this website and from other websites and book etc. I was on very strong medications... I just would like you to let me khow if they work for you then I will give you more information and remedies. These are the remedies I used:
1. Fresh lemon juice with a glass of warm water and a table spoon of honey half an hour before any meal, specially on an empty stomach.
2. Boil 2 spoons of dry deel with 2 cups of water until it left only one cup and then drink it when it is warm with a tps of honey every morning and every night ( do this specially when you have white tong)
3. Cut done all the unhealthy foods, junk foods etc
4. Use zinc in your apple juice drink every day
5. If you buy fruit juice from the market, make sure they are not added sugur or preservetive.
6. Take a one month fresh grape juice diet (drink one cup only grape juice every one hour but nothing else)... I did this only for 2 days and it seemed to be working but I was not too determined to continue.
Plz let me know the result if somebody goes for more days. Good luck"

07/16/2010: Freakzilla154l from Philadelphia, Pa, Usa writes: "Hello everyone! I've had Colitis/Proctitis since 2005. I suddenly got very ill one day and since then my digestive system has never been the same. Blood, Mucous, Loose Stools, Constipation, Smelly, Cloudy (sorry, just want to be precise). Along with the UC, just my facial skin and scalp have become oily and I get these awful plugs (either keratin or something) that come out of my hair follicles. My skin also becomes dry eventhough it looks oily. It's strange and I hate it. It gets itchy. . . I've also had test done through urine, that showed a toxin for C. Diff and mercury (normal was 3 and I was a 7). Anyways, I do believe my digestive system is the cause of all of this. I've always had alittle dry skin but since my UC problems arose so has the skin issues. My also extremely tired all the time and can't gain wieght like before. My joints and bones hurt, it's weird. So, I do take meds for this. Lialda and Canasa, one is oral, the other a suppository. Does not do much.
I've tried many natural treatments. Right now, I'm also taking aloe vera juice 1-2 times a day, lugols iodine (6 drops) 2 times a day, and alot of glutamine 2-3 times a day. Also, I do take the baking soda by itself 1 time a day about 5 times a week. I did it with limes, but it makes me go even more. I tried the magnesium pills too but that does not go well with my colitis and I tried low doses. I do use magnesium spray though. With the baking soda, If I do 2 times a day I feel like it makes me go to the bathroom alittle more. . . However, I notice the baking soda has helped with my ear wax problem. The inside of my ears also get oily and some wax may build up, but the baking soda clears that. Wonder what that could mean? If I stop the baking soda for 2 days, it gets oily again in my ears. It doesn't clear up my face or hair though. I've tried applying directly to my face also, but too drying! So, I think my digestive issues have to be solved for everything else to get better! What in God's name can I do? This is horrible. I can't work out cause I'm to weak and my body isn't getting the right nutrition b/c my UC. I know my immune system probably stinks! Maybe Ted can help or other people! I have tested positive for SIBO (Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth) alittle while back, but who knows how reliable that test is or what it means. There are periods where my UC does get better for a month and everythings perfect, then BAM its terrible again. It's an on/off switch!
Any help please??"
Replies07/17/2010: Labes from Toronto, Ontario, Canada replies: "Dear Freakzilla154,
Colitis, IBS, Crohn's disease, Ulcerative colitis are just names of infections of the bowels. Like an infection of a kidney can give you kidney failure, an infection of the bowel gives us all what I like to call bowel failure ( Colitis, IBS, Chron's disease, Ulcerative colitis, Ulcers, you name it). To reach your health again, you have to treat the infection causing your bowel failure. The first big bug than can causes those bowel failures is bacterium avium, which most doctors misdiagnose. This bug will suppress the immune system and invade all your body including your bowels. You will feel extreme fatigue and bowel failure. What you can do to treat this bug is to take H2O2 therapy. You can also drink ozonated water 6 times a day to kill the bug. I have read that magnetic pulser can destroy this bug. You have to take also ionic silver or colloidal silver internally everyday in order for you to weaken the bacteria. Ted also said that borax also kills those mycoplamas. Since your immune system is suppressed by this bacteria (AIDS like state is attributed to this bacteria), you have to take selenium, zinc, magnesium, potassium, 2000U VitD3, Vitamin B complex. You have also to ch-elate your mercury by EDTA or some humic acid or chlorella.Candida also can be a cause, but Candida in many cases is just a symptoms of mycobacterium avium infection. MULTIPLE SUPPLEMENTS

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 05/12/2009: Allison from Houston, Texas writes: "I have ulcerative colitis (UC) and have to take mesalamines everyday to keep it under control. I agree with Ted from Bangkok that UC is caused by bacteria related to the acidity or PH in the intestine. Thus, I am trying to increase the PH of my gut by increasing intake of magnesium. Things that I find helpful to minimize loose stools include: 1 tablespoon L-glutamine on an empty stomach first thing in the morning along with a capsule of B-complex vitamin and vitamin C to help increase absorption of the amino acid. 1 tablespoon of sweet dairy whey (this is different from whey protein) that some health food stores may carry. The sweet dairy whey helps me to be able to take magnesium supplements without getting the runs or diarhea everytime. I don't notice any difference when I take prebiotics (i.e.: FOS, Inulin) and probiotics (yogurt, acidophilus), but I take them nontheless as I figure it doesn't hurt to supplement them."

PELARGONIUM SIDOIDES

[YEA] 02/09/2012: Gravytrain from Chattanooga, Tn writes: "I felt compelled to share something that has been helpful for my daughter's U/C. We stumbled across it completely by accident when looking for a natural sinus infection cure. We purchased a box of Nature's Way Umcka Cold Care. We decided to go with the 'soothing hot drink-lemon flavor' option as it was slightly less expensive than the other forms of the product. Within 2 doses she started to show signs of intestinal relief. Initially, she did have one movement of passing a lot of mucous. After doing some reading on the ingredient in this product (Pelargonium sidoides), I would attribute that to the fact that it has expectorant properties to expel contaminated mucous. Within a couple of days, she was starting to have stools that were somewhat formed & only going to the bathroom 3 times a day. It seems that the history of P. Sidoides indicates that it was also used for intestinal ailments as well as respiratory ailments. I don't know exactly which properties (or maybe it's a combination of them all) makes it effective but it's cetainly worth a try.
We have tried so many natural things in order to minimize having to use pharmaceutical drugs & other drastic medical interventions (surgery, immunodepressants). This includes diet changes, acupuncture, supplements, Sangre De Grado, etc. Dealing with any of these horrible digestive diseases is a nightmare. I'm not saying this is a "cure-all" for U/C but maybe it can bring some relief to someone else out there that is suffering from this hellish disease. It's certainly worth a try. Good Luck!!!"

I have been suffering for slightly over five weeks now, of increaed bathroom trips, blood, etc. I have upped my probiotic intake, but no luck.I am researching the site now to try some potential remedies. I am trying to avoid steroids at all costs. I checked my pH level(based on my saliva) and it look to be in the high 6's -- hard to determine exactly with the strips that I am using. Any suggestions what to try first?
I am leaning towards Baking Soda plus water, just for convenience."
09/12/2011: Cindy from Houston, Tx replies: "My doctor had advised that I was a candidate for having my colon removed due to the UC - I went to the health food store and told them my problem and they suggested aloe vera juice - the kind that tastes just like water - and slippery elm - I took 2 oz aloe vera water and 1 slippery elm capsule morning and night and the pain and frequency of going to the bathroom was gone in 2 days. I was so grateful that I listened to my instinct and went to the health food store for a more natural solution - I took it regularly for 3 months and I have had no more UC - it's been over 4 years - I hope this will work for you -"

[NAY] 10/02/2011: Brad from Mount Pearl, Nl replies: "I tried this for weeks, but it simply was not making a difference. I was just too sick and finally gave in on getting Prednisone. I know Prednisone is not the answer, but I am hoping if I can get this flare up under control, perhaps then, with some of these natural treatments -- it can stay better. I think I was too far gone to fix things........ couldn't take the pain anymore."
01/06/2012: Steve from Houston, Tx replies: "Brad - Have you checked into Vitamin E treatment. Just do a google search for "ulcerative colitis vitamin E". I have suffered for years and felt I didn't have anything to lose by trying it. I started the treatment two weeks before a colonoscopy. I noticed a difference within a couple days, and did not treat in the second week. My GI declared me UC free. He didn't take well to my explanation, but I wouldn't expect anything different. He is about to lose a lot of money. This is no BS, I have been on Asacol for 8 years and suffered for atleast 8 years prior to being placed on the Asacol. I was totally shocked by the results. If you use this treatment make sure you get the "natural" vitamin e and NOT the "synthetic"."
01/24/2012: Brad from Mount Pearl, Newfoundland replies: "Hi Steve. Thanks very much for the advice. I have googled it and it looks very promising. I will likely give it a go. I have to look into the specifics("natural" vitamin E and "distilled" water). I am currently on Salofalk enemas -- I wonder could I empty one of those enemas and then load that up with a syringe, with the vitamin E mixture..... And also stop my Salofalk enemas?I am currently still suffering big time -- off work for five months and no end in sight. The GI doctor has me on Prednisone and Imuran. He has tried everything with me, but the only thing I respond to is Prednisone, which is not the answer.
I am not a believer in meds and have researched a natural solution for meds. I am currently working to alkalize my body. I am big into probiotics, as well, switched to VSL3 and am taking four pouches daily of 450 billion units, but I am not seeing any difference, after apprx four weeks or so."

RAW FOOD DIET

[YEA] 08/25/2008: Tamara from Valencia, California writes: "Recently I started having symptoms of Colitis (diarrhea, blood in stools, upset stomach, nausea, etc.) I did research on the net and found a web site where a man had colitis for 8 years, in and out of the hospital, almost had to get a colostomy bag. He decided to go "natural" and has been symptom free for 24 years. His secret: a raw foods vegan diet!!! I started the diet and my symptoms have gone away!! within 4 days I felt and looked better. I have lost 17 pounds in 1 month and feel great. I truly believe that a raw foods vegan diet is the answer to ulcerative colitis. Give it a shot and see for yourself!!!"

I started a raw foods, vegan diet that is comprised of mainly fruits and vegetables. I will eat almond butter, brown rice, and almond or soy milk. I probably eat 80% raw vegetables and fruit, but I will steam vegetables sometimes. I also juice fruits and vegetables. The more you cook something, the more you are killing the nutrients your body needs. I also eat what is called an "organic food bar". These have 14 grams of protein in them, and I eat one of those a day. I also take an amino acid complex (derived from vegetable sources) daily, in the morn. on an empty stomach for better absorption.
If you can make it to a natural foods market, or even the library, you will be able to find info on a raw foods diet (also try online).
I just know this, that I have never felt better in my life than I do now after being on this diet. Hope that helps, and I am sorry that took so long, my computer was messed up and just got fixed."
[YEA] 09/21/2008: Kim from Riverside, CA replies: "I followed the same diet and my symptoms left me in about the same amount of time after a year of suffering. I ordered a book from a website (not sure I can post it here). The author claimed 100% success. It sounds like the same book."
08/02/2009: Mohammed from Birmingham, West Midlands, england replies: "hi there tamara could u plz tell me if ur uc has gone compelety and if raw food diet really wrks thanks"
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] 09/08/2009: Joseph from Lawrence, Ks replies: "I decided to try the raw vegan diet after years of nothing else working. Mostly fresh fruits and vegetables, sometimes steamed. Salads, smoothies, nuts, seeds, berries, srpouts... I'm pretty sure we're all talking about the same author, the one that comes up if you search for vegan and ulcerative colitis.
After a few months it was like I never even had UC. It was crazy, I hadn't felt so good in years, if not better. I only ate like that for about four months, then I adopted it into my own diet. It's been a year and a half and I'm still doing great. UC doesn't really affect my life anymore. No more medications, no more pain, no more being confined to an area with a nearby bathroom. If I do get a flare up, it's because I ate something I knew I shouldn't have. There are rare occasions where I will suffer for a food I miss eating (like fried stuff). I still eat a vegan diet, but maybe 60-70% of it being raw. I just love cooking too much. I see the raw vegan diet as a great way to heal your body, but I don't think it's sustainable for most people. You can use it to let your ulcers calm down and then incorporate large amounts of fresh, raw, organic produce into your own diet, which is much more doable for most people. "
10/16/2009: Tamara from Valencia, California replies: "Mohammed, I am sorry it took so long to get back to you. I haven't been on the website for quite a while. A raw foods diet has worked perfectly for me. As long as I continue to eat whole foods (fruits and vegetables) as the majority of my diet, then I am free from any symptoms. When I try to incorporate other foods into my diet (bread, sweets, any fast foods, etc.) my symptoms reappear. Staying on this raw foods diet is quite a challenge at times, but it is truly worth it. I can almost guarantee that your symptoms will disappear if you stick to it! Happy eating and God bless!"

Replies03/08/2011: Lisa from Waynesboro, Va replies: "I just read this on a site about UC; it's true b/c of some sort of harmful chemical that the cigarettes inhibit in your colon. But it's not the best way due to the even greater harm in smoking. I have been dealing with mine by using turmeric, coconut oil and aloe vera juice. Aloe vera is really good and turmeric stops the diarrhea. Coconut oil is a great lubricant also. Search the earth clinic site for lots of remedies."

REMEDIES NEEDED

01/13/2012: Iwillgetbetter from Detroit, Mi, Usa writes: "I have a tough case, can you help me please?
I've had UC for 7 years now and only once, for one day, did I achieve remission. I actually had a shot of antibiotic rocephin and took liquid nystantin and and my remission occured two days after having this. But it didn't stay. I've been on a ton of antibiotics, of course at the same time probiotics. I tested positive for Lyme's too. But no doctor can tell me if my UC is from Lyme's or it's just UC. I know it all started over eating alfalfa sprouts I didn't wash from the grocery store. I got deathly ill and I never went to the doctor. I was better in three days after diarrhea and throwing up, but then a few months later I started bleeding from my rectum when I would have a bowel movement. I was having accidents, I could hold back my poop, it would come out uncontrollably.
I recently bought marshmellow root to make tea for ulcers, l-glutamin for healing the cut, blackstrap molasses (all this per your site) and fish oil, vit D, DHEA a liquid multi vitamin. I've been on the l-glutimin the longest. I'm starting back up my probiotics, since I thought I was bleeding from them I stopped. I bought a far-infer red sauna for detoxing. I've had my filings changed in my mouth, I've taken anti parasite medication and I've done series of colonics and admistered my own enemas with nystantin and probiotics. I've tried gluten free about two weeks, no improvement. Raw veggies give me terrible gas. I've tried living on just chicken and veggies and that's hard! I had a 12 week infusion of vitamins/minerals and I think I've done everything possible to heal myself. I pray, my mood is positive. I'm active. But the urgency, blood, pencin thin poop is still there. It's a miserable way to live. I have spent over $50,000 in doctors, supplements, travel, medications, proceedures etc...
I always wondered if it was just yeast overgrowth and leaky gut problems but I have ulcers.
Any other suggestion you can throw at me? I greatly appreciate all your help. I would LOVE to be in remission."
Replies01/13/2012: Ranjana from Mumbai, Maharashtra India replies: "Try taking turmeric in hot milk before going to bed in the night and shilajit capsules (humid acid) that helped me in my chronic 3 yr old UC like you I too tried many things, I wish you good health."
01/13/2012: Nicole from Rimrock, Az replies: "If you do have yeast overgrowth, a bacteria, viral, fungus or parasite problem, I cannot recommend anything more than the silver pulser used in the Bob Beck protocol and I would also recommend the two other devices he talks about. The magnetic pulser and the ozonator machine. Basically the silver pulser gets rid of all parasite, bacteria, virus' and fungi and it purifies your blood. Many people have cured themselves of HIV, cancer and a host of other problems using this device. Just started using it a week ago and it's a Godsend. I have much better mental clarity, I sleep better and I have a lot more energy. I believe I have candida and am detoxing from it using the silver pulser. It is an investment you can't afford not to do. You can check out his lectures on the devices at youtube. Good luck and happy healing."
01/13/2012: Rsw from Uniontown, Oh replies: "Why don't you look into low dose naltrexone? You can find information at www.ldninfo.org. It has helped many others with UC and Crohns disease to live normal lives. Also join the Yahoo LDN group and others will help you with your questions. LDN helps in many, many autoimmune diseases, as well as cancer treatment, Parkinson's, and many other ailments by modulating the immune system, allowing your own body to heal itself. Good luck."
01/14/2012: Oliver from Apache Jct., Az. replies: "You have e-coli."
01/15/2012: Timh from Louisville, Usa replies: "Iwillgetbetter, if you've never incorporated Zinc/Vit-A into your protocol, you missed critical ingredients as Zinc/Vit-A is critical for the healing of many cells/tissues particularly epithelial. Comfrey leaf is a good healer as well as DGL & Allantoin. Anytime I get a colon flare-up I wear a magnetic belt over the colon area all day w/ very good results. The first big help I got from U.C. 2 yrs ago took 3 days Magnetic belt and was then much better.Hope this helps and report your progress."
01/30/2012: Pfred from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma replies: "You have E-Coli - get to a doctor. Then, Ph Balance your body. Add whatever supplements you need after that."

Once things are better, slowly introduce cooked foods that are whole and full of fiber, such as brown rice. Run from meat, animal products, and processed food. Take lots of turmeric to reduce inflammation."
01/06/2012: Betsy from Deer River, Minnesota replies: "Christian,
I had severe ulcerative colitis from 2007-2009. The last time I was in the hospital was in 2009, and the last time I had a flare-up was in 2010. I have some symptoms of IBS still, but they are going away. I believe I am completely healed of ulcerative colitis. I am not on any medications, although I was told I would have to be on meds for the rest my life. I've been taking an entirely natural approach. If you like, I can share what I have done to heal my colon."
01/06/2012: Kashil from Tulun, Mexico replies: "In my experience I have found that parasites are the cause of... I think almost anything. I am 57 and it has took me about 3 years of cleansing. I have done almost everything naturally, meaning no supplements or things like that - this mostly because I don't have (don't want) a credit card I cannot buy things through internet, so it has been a bit longer and more difficult, more work but it has been worth it, believe me.I have used mainly: hot red pepper, wormwood, black clover, something called in spanish CHAPARRO AMARGO, another one is EPAZOTE. Also lots of garlic, the Tibetan garlic cure, garlic oil, coconut oil, vegetable carbon... I think if you try something for parasites you will see that you feel better and then you know where the problem is. It takes time, but it's worth it. I wish you feel better. :-)"

Now, I am worried about its side effects even though it put me into remission, and eliminated steroids. I am going to ask my GI doctor about maybe getting Remicade intermittently only when I have a serious flare. What can you prescribe for me that I can share with my doctor as an option to relying only on Remicade?"
Replies11/28/2011: Rsw from Uniontown, Oh replies: "Many people have had great success using LDN (low dose naltrexone), an immune modulator with no side effects. It has been shown to be effective in Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, as well as many other autoimmune diseases. please see the website at www.ldninfo.org. It explains the way it works and gives studies that support these statements. Yahoo also has a LDN group that you can join with over 10,000 members who are very willing to answer your questions and give you their personal experience with LDN. I will say that Remicade seems to be a drug that is generally not recommeded by the group from what I have read. Good luck!"
