[YEA]  03/12/2009: Ron from South St Paul, MN: "...I had a filling break while eating some popcorn one night. Within 2 weeks, a cavity formed, which wasn't surprising to me. I've dealt with carries/cavities more than once. For years I've taken plant derived- colloidal minerals (60-80 different minerals). All of my cavities seemed to stop dead in their tracks, but I couldn't pin-point why, or what I was doing. I scheduled a dentist appointment and was expecting to have him do a root canal. I don't have insurance, I pay my bills and wanted to set up some kind of payment plan. The dentist wanted $500 down, and not having that kind of money, I told him "Thank you, but I'll have to figure out something else." Immediately, I went home, cracked open my medical books and started doing a little research. I learned that cavities are caused by a bacteria.I already knew that Silver was an antibiotic, but didn't know how to consume/make it (I also figured out why my cavities, in the past, have stopped while taking the liquid minerals). I did some looking on line, came across directions on how to make colloidal Silver, and for the price of 1 foot .22 gauge Silver wire, a soldering gun and 3 9 volt batteries, I now make my own. Haven't dealt with any mouth problems since!"

[YEA]  12/26/2008: Mary from New York, New York: "Four weeks ago, i was eating pop corn and some of the brown stuff that's on it, stuck in my gum. it took a while to pull it out and the gum throbbed alot. the next morning the gum was inflamed and an abscess formed. i tried gargling with salt and water and hydrogen peroxide, gargled with apple cider vinigar, tried putting neem extract on it, ate a bunch of cashews as cashews have a mild poison that works well on gum disease, tried raw garlic with salt and turmuric both eating it and putting it on the wound, which really burned and burned my inner cheek pretty bad. Most of these things just controlled the abscess. it would drain but then it would come back again and the gum was refusing to heal. this went on for about 2 weeks, finally i tried colloidal silver. i drank 4 table spoons per day, and i soaked a cotton ball in colloidal silver and placed it on the wounded gum. within hours not only did the gum drain, it started to heal. after two days of colloidal silver on cotton ball and drinking it, my gum looked clean, pink and as if nothing ever happned. bottom line, colloidal silver for abscess is a very quick remedy. though, make sure to get a good colloidal silver. some companies sell cheap stuff that's immitation, more like ionic silver. i bought a bottle of mesosilver on amazon. expensive but reputable company, which did the trick for me.still beats going to the dentist for him to rip out the tooth or do a root canal, still a lot cheaper. i am as well learning now how to make my own colloidal silver so that i can keep it on hand, should i get sick again.

hope this helps someone."

[YEA]  12/09/2010: Carolyn from Lubbock, Tx: "I had a abscessed tooth that was giving me fits. This is what worked for me. 2-3 oz. of very warm water, add 2 tablespoons of 10ppm colloidal silver and only 6 drops of DMSO. Swish this around your bad tooth. I try to keep it in my mouth about 2-3 minutes then spit it out. Keep doing this till you have used all the water mixture. Do this 2 times a day and in 2-3 days the infection and pain will be gone. It really worked for me."

Dental Treatment

02/04/2012: Ben from Toronto, Ontario, Canada: "This is an aside from those who posted about treatments for tooth ailments. I go to the local college here in Toronto for hygenic treatment as well as fillings. Because this is a college, the fees are minimal, for the fillings it was $20 per filling. However the appointments are in 3 hour blocks because the students are working on you and have to be constantly evaluated by the instructors. If you have the time, it's a great cost saver."

[YEA]  04/18/2011: Erin from Lafayette, In: "Took my 9 year old daughter to the dentist and come to find out she had a gum abcess and infection in a tooth with a cavity. Of course their first recourse was to put her on antibiotics so they could pull the tooth 1 week later. I refused the antibiotics, nicely, but I still got the dirty look and the "note" on the file. So, my daughter and I were very determined to stop the issue in it's tracks... Just to prove them wrong if nothing else. This isn't for the lazy at heart... it's 7 days of killing an infection and keeping it killed.

First of all, NO sugar. She got whole grain bread maybe once per day, but not at all if we could get away with it, other than that, no grains. Pasturized dairy was cut way back to just cheese on occassion. That means no sodas or juices, water was the drink of the week. Whole, low sugar fruits are okay (apples, berries, melon), and of course veges.

Okay, now for the fun part: once per day she did a rinse of water with baking soda and peroxide (I never really measured it, just put some water - maybe 1/4 cup?? -- in a cup with maybe 1 tsp of baking soda and 1/2 tsp of peroxide or so). Twice per day she did a rinse of a commercial tea tree mouthwash with an extra 4 drops of grapefruit seed extract added. Each rinse is done after brushing the teeth.

Once per day, the infected area was sprayed with 2 squirts of colloidial silver, 10 ppm.

Every day she took supplements of:
Vitamin C, 1000 mg
Vitamin D 10-15, 000 IU
Chelated Zinc 100 mg
Oil of Oregano 45 mg (standardized to 70% carvacrol)
Olive Leaf 310 mg with 40 mg of powdered extract standardized to 18% oleuropein
Krill Oil for Omega 3's
A Garlic supplement for Immune support, though if I could have gotten her to take whole, crushed garlic I would have been happier.
And Alpha Lipoic Acid 100 mg

Definitely believe in leaving nothing to chance.

We started this regimen on a Monday afternoon when she got home from school, and by Wednesday she was totally pain free. The cavity itself lightened in color. We kept it up for the entire week, and by the time she got to the dentist for the extraction... Well, they were surprised. Looked at her file, looked in her mouth, asked her if there was any pain (she replied no, naturally), and then the super sweet assistant actually asked me how we did that. They confirmed that she was completely infection and abcess free.

Sorry for the lengthy post, but I always like to see amounts and directions... So hopefully this can help someone else :-)"

To take the prescribed medicine is the WRONG way to heal a tooth infection. The correct way is to use the nutritional protocol and the supplements mentioned for the little girl because the nutritional way, conditions the body to heal the infection and stregnthen the tissue and cure the tooth on its own. The body was not doing well in the first place and that is why the infection came up in the first place. The medicine is like putting a poison and a numbing agent on a bandaid on an infected wound and NOT cleaning it... It will only temporarily stop pain and not offer a permanent cure... The medication will wear off and the infection in the tooth will simply come back.. Nutritional remedy is the way to go."

[YEA]  03/21/2010: Firminatus from Mansal Lacy Hereford, Hereford/UK: "Several years ago, I had an infection in the root canal linked to four upper front crowns. I went to the Dentist who gave me an anti-biotic, which seemed to clear it up. Two weeks later the infection returned worse than ever, so I decided to try Echinacea (purple cone flower). I made a tea with a teaspoon of the dried leaves with a pint of hot water in a small stainless steel teapot and simmered the concoction gently for about ten minutes until it had cooled enough to hold in my mouth. I held the warm liquid in my mouth, swishing it around my mouth for about ten minutes, once in the morning and again before I went to bed. On the third day the pain which had been somewhere under my nose had gone, and I had an abscess on my gum which burst later that day and quickly healed. With love as always."

[YEA]  04/24/2008: Georje : "I cured an abscessed tooth by taking a half teaspoon of echinacea/ goldenseal tincture every hour for the first day of a really severe toothache and holding spilanthes tincture in my mouth to dull the pain. I discovered the herb meadow sweet to be the best pain relief for the tooth. Within minutes of drinking a mild decoction of the tea the pain would be gone for hours. It was a long weekend and no hope for going to the dentist. I was suprised the next morning that the swelling was way down so I continued taking the echinacea/ goldenseal tincture. as the abscess subsided i decreased the dose, taking it every three or four hours the second day . I continued for a week taking 3 doses a day. At the end of that time I had no abscess . It was confirmed a few weeks later by xrays at the dentist. I also drank lots of water with a 1/2 fresh lemon or lime sqeezed into to it."

I have tried just about everything on it and found one of the best remedies to be eucalyptus tea bags. Put the tea bag in your mouth around the infected tooth and hold it in there as long as you feel necessary. sometimes I would sleep with one. When you take the bag out you can literaly see some of the infection on the bag that has been drawn out of your tooth."

[YEA]  11/01/2006: Jeanne from Rouyn - Noranda, Quebec, CANADA: "Fenugreek steeped into a tea / mouthwash cured abscessed teeth. I rinsed my mouth and then soaked a gauze pad and placed in in my mouth for an hour at a time and it drew the infection out of my system. Sometimes I had to open a little hole in my gums so it would drain. I had 10 abscessed teeth at one time and did this for many months. It helped me alot as I didn't have any medical coverage to go to a dentist myself. I still to this day recommend this to anyone with the same problem."

[YEA]  02/23/2013: Phil from Manchester, United Kingdom: "Well, all I can say is this site has seriously saved me from continued pain. I started getting some tooth pain in a tooth that is currently undergoing root canal treatment last night (Friday - isn't that always the way with dental pain?). Today I've had gum and cheek swelling and some pretty extreme pain. Yesterday I was able to manage the pain with ibuprofen however it has had little effect today. Around 2 hours ago I noticed that there were abscess heads around the tooth. With a small bit of pressure the abscess burst and a mix of yellow/creamy fluid along with what appeared to be blood began to flow out which obviously shows that there is an infection. However, the pain continued. In desperation, I searched for some home remedies due to not being able to see the dentist for another 42 hours. Now, I've never been a believer in home remedies which is probably due to the circles that I mix with; my fiance is a Doctor, her mother is a Veterinary Surgeon etc. However, after reading the thread I rushed to the shop and purchased some garlic. I split one of the cloves and cut a large chunk out of it. I applied the chunk of garlic to the side of the tooth that the fluid had come from... At first it was fine with the exception of a slight tingle in my tongue, however after about 30 seconds the pain really kicked in. I kept it there for as long as I could (about 3 - 4 minutes) and then swallowed the liquid and spat out the remainder of the cloves.

I didn't notice any difference at first (if anything it was now stinging as well as being generally painful), however 20 minutes later the pain literally disappeared. I was sat watching TV holding my mouth and it was as if the pain was just switched off! I'm now able to close my mouth and even chew which is ridiculous considering the pain I was in.

Everyone - this is genuine. If it worked for me (and as I said I'm a firm nay-sayer when it comes to home remedies) then it could work for you!"

01/11/2013: Barbara from Idaho Falls, Idaho: "I had an infection in my upper eye tooth. It was very painful. I couldn't get an appointment for another week. I tried something I had read about on this site and it worked for me.

I took a large clove of fresh garlic, cut it in half. I formed a little opening in the center and fit the garlic over the tooth. It did burn somewhat. I would remove it after a couple of minutes, then reapply. I did this for about 2 or 3 days... Every time I sat down to watch television. When I did get to the dentist, there was barely any sign of the infection, and no pain.

While thinking about this, just now, I'm wondering if I had cut the clove in half, without peeling it first, it may have made a shield between the garlic and my inner mouth area."

[YEA]  12/26/2012: Aby from Los Angeles, Ca/usa: "I had a tooth infection and called my dentist with the sharpest and most unbearable pain I had ever experienced. He called in a prescription for painkillers and I began to take them, with little effectiveness. They would dull the pain temporarily, but the pain would return intensely before I could take my next dose. The tooth was so sensitive that I couldnt even meet my upper and lower teeth together, without excruciating pain. I wasnt even putting pressure on them, but merely touching them together I read all of the garlic yeas here, and immediately cut a clove in half, and placed it in my mouth in either side of my infected molar. That night I minced garlic and kept it in my cheek as a sorr of poultice, and changged it out throughout the night. Without painkillers, over the next 24 hours, my tooth pain was COMPLETELY gone. I cant stop tellin people how amazing this was."

[YEA]  12/13/2012: Sayward from Columbia City, Indiana: "I am a garlic advocate. In 2006, shortly after I graduated highschool, I got this crazy sinus infection that spread and I was just an absolute mess. I wasn't working at the time and money was about as abundant as pepsi in the desert. So I got online at the library and started looking up cheap cures. 2 weeks of a garlic and honey mixture and I was back ontop of the heap.

Throughout these last years, I have been rarely sick, as I take raw garlic in food at least 3 times a week. I don't mind the smell, and I just love the taste so it works for me. ( I can't speak for the others around me. :P)

Anyway, to be on topic. If anyone is wondering about an abcessed tooth, or tooth decay, or just a toothache, I would suggest taking a raw clove, slicing it up into slivers, letting it sit for 5 minutes and then placing it around the affected area. Yes, it will burn. Just keep at it. After the burning subsides ( and it will, I promise! ) gently chew the garlic slivers and swallow them. If you are prone to GERD or just have 'tummy troubles' feel free to take a teaspoon of ACV or milk, as you see fit. (I prefer ACV as I have a general distrust of milk. Thanks Tom Green.)

You should experience a lessening of pain in the affected area. This does not, however, mean that the infection is gone.Wait 30 minutes, and rinse your mouth with hydrogen peroxide. Obviously, DO NOT SWALLOW. Please be sure to let it bubble around in your mouth.

For an infection of any size, the key is to remain vigilant and to continue this process. 2-3 times a day, repeat the process. Garlic first, then peroxide. Garlic contains allicin, which is a natural antiseptic, antibiotic, antifungal and antiviral. Allicin forms when the clove is cut or damaged, which is why I suggest letting it sit for a few minutes after slicing.

To answer more directly, it is my suggestion to continue the method until no more pain is felt, and on for another week. (If the infection seems to get worse, or you develop more symptoms, it's time to break down and call the Dr. An infection so close to the brain is very dangerous and can spread rapidly.) This allows time to make sure the infection has been wiped out and to give a chance for the tissues to heal themselves without being bombarded once again by bacteria.

Once the infection is gone and you're back to living your awesome life, maintain your health by eating raw garlic at least 3 times a week. It is excellent for lowering blood pressure and cholesterol and is an immune booster.

(Just a little story here, my dad (who left us last year of pancreatic cancer) once had a toothache. He was a truck driver, and let's just say a tube of tooth paste was a once a year purchase. So anyway, he had a toothache, and just kept putting (_____)a-gel on it. Then about a month later he began to have sinus problems. He started taking a nasal spray to combat it. A few weeks later, when he was home, we noticed a small bump forming in the middle of his forehead. After another few weeks, the bump had grown to the size of a golfball. Mom made him go to the Dr. Low and behold, he had a sinus infection that had took hold in the bump on his forehead and he had to have it drained. The Dr. said that if he had waited another week, he would probably have been dead. Not of a sinus infection, but of the infection getting into his BRAIN. Dad had a dip in the middle of his forehead from where the infection was eating the bone of his skull for the rest of his life. (which btw was another 15 years.) Long story short, please do not take toothaches or sinus infections lightly. They can be deadly.)"

[YEA]  12/09/2012: Tooaverage from Delta, BC, Canada: "I got an infection from my wisdom tooth extraction and my face was swollen like a chipmunk. I went to the Surgeon and was told to go on antibiotics or it wouldn't go away.

I refused to take the antibiotics so I used my own remedies and it was fully healed within a week! When I went back for a follow up the surgeon assumed the antibiotics had cured it when I hadn't even taken them.

I cut up a clove of garlic and chewed on it lightly and left it in the area then swallowed it to also get the immune system boost. The garlic was strong and it hurt like crazy but I could feel the healing. I have done this every day before bed and it started to heal as soon as I started doing this.

-- Make sure to clean the infection site (if your specialist says it is OK) with a syringe with warm water and salt after every single meal to avoid infection.

In addition to Garlic I took the following:

  • Apple Cider Vinegar (swish and swallow)
  • Drinking lots of Green Tea
  • Vitamin D
  • Olive Leaf Complex
  • Clove Oil applied to the area
  • Yogurt
  • Vitamin B
  • Ibuprofen for pain/swelling

I am still trying to find a natural anti-inflammatory that actually works."

12/09/2012: Rosie from Boston, Ma, USA replies: "You asked about a natural antibiotic. I find D-lenolate, which is an olive leaf extract that's been tinkered with in the lab, is more powerful for me than the plain olive leaf extract that's available in health food stores. It's an herbal antibiotic, so I take it for only 1 to 3 weeks at a time and only when really needed. I also take probiotics afterwards. It's only available online."
12/26/2012: Kathy from the USA replies: "Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory spice and so is ginger. It is also reported that both fight cancer. Turmeric was immediate for me when I had ingested too much manufactured glutamic acid, "MSG" (my fingers split) I mixed 1/2 tsp. in a little over 1/2 C warm water and drank.

I use about 1/4 tsp. of each on eggs and/or vegetables. This seems to reduce internal inflammation and improves the products of elimination."

[YEA]  12/05/2012: Kathy from the USA: "YES, garlic killed my pain. Then I read about soaking a tea bag to apply to the tooth for thirty minutes or so. I went to a specialist for a root canal but the x-ray revealed the abscess was GONE!! I was very concerned because the roots of my teeth appear to be in my sinus cavity. THANK YOU EARTH CLINIC AND ALL WHO POSTED!"
