[YEA] 11/18/2009: Jack,blacjac687 from Toledo, Ohio writes: "Just like thousands of other's I had 3 fillings fallout which I attribute to drinking "Mountain Dew" which at the time I had no idea it cause's teeth to lose emanel and even split or break off.!
and now just like others I have no insurance to pay the exorbitant fee's of dentist's and I knew, and felt the pain and abcess had to go ! "But how"??
Well, for the past 3 months I've had "no pain" and I filled the lost fillings with "no pain"! For the fast relief of the pain and to stop the abcess that I had I took the cotton off of a cotton swab and soaked it in 3% Hydrogen Peroxide, and put it in the cavity where the pain and abcess was, until all the pain was gone, which wasn't very long !After that, every time I shave or use bathroom I swish a small amount of HP around in my mouth(this kill's all the germs and bacteria in your mouth) "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE LOST FILLING'S?"
I tried some "DEN TEMP" and all it did is fall out after the first meal I had! But I got a small bottle of
gorilla glue AND put about 6-8 drops on a plastic surface, let it set until it started to harden and took a tooth pick and put some of it on the end of the tooth pick, then applied it into the cavities until each was filled,(I also found the cavity doesn't need to be dry!)it sticks just fine and I eat with the GG in and I still swish the Hydrogen Peroxide and My abcess has stopped and "I'm in "NO PAIN AT ALL"!
I fully realize I'll need treatment at some future point when I can afford it. "BUT FOR NOW I'M HOLDING MY OWN!""

MAGNESIUM AND BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES
[YEA] 01/01/2008: Nadine from North Bergen, NJ writes: "Hi, I've recently begun taking Magnesium Citrate in powder form on a near daily basis along with blackstrap molasses. I'd had a very painful toothache for several weeks (in addition to or resulting in an earache..) and without dental insurance I really can't afford a dentist. After about 3-4 days of taking a teaspoon of magnesium the pain was completely gone! I also no longer have any sensitivity from sweet or very hot/cold foods and beverages. I've made this remedy part of my daily routine and hope to discover more health benefits of this great mineral.
This brings me to something I hoped perhaps Ted or another reader may shed some light on; I came across something called Transdermal Magnesium Therapy which allows the body to absorb magnesium through the skin, and it's supposedly superior to oral supplementation. Several articles mention that magnesium chloride is the preferred form, although they don't describe the application method. They only refer to Magnesium Oil which is a little pricey. Is there a homemade version of this therapy? I appreciate your help, thanks in advance!"

[YEA] 04/03/2009: DarenM from Trenton, MI writes: "About a week ago I ate some ice cream and developed a sinus infection. ( I expected I would since I am aware of the connection. But I did it anyway) Right away I started using cayenne pepper as I often do when I begin to feel something coming on. My sinuses drained fine and I thought I was getting better so I went out and partied it up. Smoking and doing things I should not have. Eventually I ended up with a tooth abscess which is no surprise since I have some major dental issues. I suspect that during my sinus drainage and a night out my body couldn't handle it all and then my poor tooth got infected.
Finally I stayed away from all the no no's. Sweets, smoking, alcohol ect.. I stayed with the cayenne pepper and eventually started to use garlic as well since the cayenee didn't seem to be doing all that great. It helped my sinuses tremendously but couldn't touch the infection in my jaw/gum/tooth. Once I started using garlic I was able to feel relief temporarily. I even tried tilting my head in a way as to allow the garlic oils and stuff to absorb into the tooth and gum. The infection was on my upper jaw. This seemed to help but barely, and garlic is hard to take a lot of. Plus I didn't wanna mix too much cayenne pepper and garlic as I understand them both to be natural anti-coagulants, and to much of that may not be safe.
I came back online for a new hope and came across Olive Leaf Extract. I went to a health food store called Better Health and purchased some. On mine it says:
150mg Olive Leaf Standardized Extract (18% oleuropein equal to 27mg.
150mg Olive Leaf Powder
The company is ______.
I'm not sure how much the Olive Leaf Powder matters but the standardized extract with the oleuropein is what I understand to be the anti-biotic, anti-viral, and anti-parasitic portion. From research I gathered that olive leaf extract is non-toxic which I've yet to confirm with a reputable source. But I have been taking one capsule every 2 to 4 hours and sometimes for two days. All the swelling has disappeared, my sinus have been draining like crazy, the pain in my jaw/tooth/gums is gone and I have had more energy. It is not completely gone as I can still feel discomfort in that area but after only two days I am amazed. I have had abscesses like this in the past and I know how impossible they can seem. I have always had to get my tooth extracted in order to feel relief but not this time.
One downside is that my urine PH became very low half way through the second day. So low that it burned when I went to urinate. I didn't bother checking the ORP, but now I wish I had since olive leaf extract is suppose to be a good antioxidant and I'm left curious as to how it may affect the ORP of my urine. I suspect it would have a good ORP. I still don't know why my PH was so low. Olive leaf extract is a natural broad spectrum antibiotic and I understand that antibiotics can affect PH but I didn't think it would be like this. My PH was in the 4's.
I began drinking distilled water with a PH of about 8 and did the Lemon Bicarbonate Alkalizing drink as that is my favorite and seems to work well. Checked my PH again a couple hours later and it was 7.2.
Also two things to take note of: Olive Leaf Extract may lower blood pressure and/or glucose levels. I didn't notice much change in my blood pressure but if you are on blood thinners or you are diabetic this may not be for you.
Some other things I did to help the tooth abscess:
2 Drops Clove Oil on Q-Tip applied at base of infected tooth. I also use the Q-tip to kinda brush against my gums next to the tooth to use whatever Clove Oil is left on the Q-Tip.
3 Drops Clove Oil + 9 Drops Almond Oil applied to your skin on your cheek that is closest to the infected tooth. I use the Almond Oil because the Clove Oil is very potent and may irritate the skin.
50/50 - Hydrogen Peroxide / Water used as a mouthwash.
1 Sinus Rinse using a Netipot
Hope this helps someone. I love this website and it has helped me many times!"

I was scheduled to go back to the dentist for a procedure to have the crown drilled to remove nerve endings to put a stop to the pain. Well, I bought a bottle of Oil of Oregano that had 70% carvacrol, brand name Solaray. I put a few drops on a cotton ball and placed it on the bad tooth and just bit down. It was kept there for about 15 minutes but, just after about 1 minute I could feel instant relief. Oregano oil worked for all my friends that had a tooth problem too! Oregano oil is NOT the herb in your kitchen cupboard, so don't make that mistake. It also works for other problems too and I always have a bottle in the house. No ands, ifs, or buts about it oregano oil will kill the pain almost immediately! Oh, I never had to go back to have anything done with my crown."

Oddly (or not depending on how you see it) I picked out sesame oil to begin the treatment and the salesperson while talking to me and showing me some other things, "accidently" replaced the sesame with the sunflower. 05/06/2009: CeeCee from San Diego, CA writes: "calcified tooth root abcess:
Having never heard of oil pulling, I tried a very expensive alternative method to try and save an upper molar which had a calcified root that was infected and could not successfully be root canaled. The gum was sore and spongy. I signed many release forms before taking injections of ozone in the gums around the tooth. This was preceeded by ozone gas in the mouth, ears and nose and followed by vitamin injections. Six treatments a week apart was recommended. It was painful and painful to pay for-$500 per treatment, but the gum was no longer spongy and painful by the end of the treatment. It was recommended to retreat in six months or so. Unfortunately the ozone dried my saliva glands horribly. And after three plus months there is no improvement in my saliva glands, leaving me with horrible dry mouth.
Now I feel twinges of mild pain in that tooth area as well. I am trying the oil pulling as we speak and we see what happens.
Has anyone else tried similar ozone treatments or does anyone have natural remedies for dry mouth. Thank you. CeeCee"

[YEA] 02/24/2009: Laurie from Decatur, Georgia writes: "I just discovered this site today, but wanted to share my experience. I read about oil pulling two months ago and thought it would be good to try for painful tooth that 3 dentists gave me 3 different diagnoses on. Bought a large bottle of pure sesame oil and pulled three mornings in a row with one tablespoon of oil. On the third day I noticed I had a slight sore throat. Two days later that was followed by what appeared to be the flu for four days (I now know that was the Herkximer reaction). The curious thing is I had no fever or digestive compliants the entire time of said "flu" - bad nasal congestion, eyes hurt like a headache and horrible coughing. When it was over I noticed that I was able to chew on the left side of my mouth which I had not been able to do for a few months! Was it the oil pulling? I seriously suspect so. If you were a bad microbe and could not produce your own food, where would you choose to live in the human body? Close to where the food comes in, right?"

[YEA] 01/25/2009: Susan from Stroudsburg, Pa writes: "Oil pulling got rid of my tooth pain in just 3 days. I had a very painful toothache, my whole jaw and ear hurt from the pain. I could not get into see a dentist for two weeks. For several nights I could not sleep due to the pain. I tried several things first like splitting raw garlic and applying to both sides of tooth and gum area, it relieved it somewhat. I also tried rubbing with oregano oil I had in the medicine chest. I then found info on oil pulling on earth clinic. I was disparate, and tried it. I'm not sure if the garlic kicked in or the oregano....but soon I drifted off to sleep in much less pain. I used organic pure extra virgin coconut oil, unrefined, unbleached. I remember reading that this oil has antibacterial properties somewhere. I woke up the next morning and did it again. I also rubbed raw honey on he area, as I have read that has antibacterial properties as well. It was still hard to chew food for two days...but the pain was subsiding dramatically. By the fourth day I stopped oil pulling. And the pain continued to diminish and go away. I can chew good now and absolutely no pain. I am amazed! I'm curious as to what the dentist will find when I go to see him next week. Now today I did oil pulling again...going to do everyday to see if it whitens my teeth. Will keep you posted!"

[YEA] 10/21/2008: Melinda from Macungie, PA writes: "I learned about Oil Pulling from your website and I feel so thankful for this wonderful treatment. I had an abscess under a tooth in my mouth that would not go away. I had tried antibiotics twice and it just went away for a while and came back. The last time I had an abscess I needed to have the tooth pulled and an implant put in - lots of pain and money.
I started oil pulling - for the first 2 weeks twice a day and then once a day. The abscess looked better and better but did not go away. Daily i would clean out any accumulated pus, and eventually i only had to do that every 3 days or so. Then - one morning after 2 months of this - when I went to clean it out to my great surprise a small bubble came out - the outside was clear and inside was a bright grass green color. After that day, the abscess completely healed. It has been three months and everything is just fine. Thank you so much for the information that you post here. I used 1 tablespoon of Cold Pressed Sesame Oil and I added a few drops of Oregano Oil to it for oil pulling. I am still oil pulling, switching types of oil every few months."

One of his upper teeth had broken away revealing a large cavity, and the two bottom ones, had small black flecks on them - obviously needing fillings. He had seen me doing oil pulling on a regular basis, and although happy with my results, I don't think he thought it was for him. He was writhing around in pain, couldn't sleep and pain killers would not work. The earliest dental appointment was a week away. I finally convinced him to do oil pulling. To be honest, I wasn't sure it would work, as I thought perhaps his tooth was too far gone to be be saved, but he did it every morning for around 5 days. The pain completely disappeared in all teeth. He is now a big believer and is recommending it to all his clients. Thanks for a wonderful site."

I had sensitive gums and nerves for several months after having two dental procedures - removal of an impacted and decayed wisdom tooth -lower left, and placement of a crown on a molar above. I was very sensitive to cold especially but hot as well. Oil pulling with coconut oil just three times cured it 95%. It was hard to believe after it was so sensitive it virtually went away. I rarely feel anything anymore except with extreme temperatures and I see even that declining as the days go by."

[YEA] 09/11/2007: Donna writes: "I would like to share how I saved my two molars, side by side, from needing to be extracted or have a root canal. On the first day of the severe pain, I got the pain reduced to about 20% with five oil pullings, but no matter what I tried after that, I could not get it below 20%. I would have to take aspirin every 10 hours or so to reduce the swelling and the pain. For three weeks I tried everything - garlic cloves on the gum line, yellow dock, goldenseal, ect. What did the trick was Neem Seed Oil. I would put a couple of drops with another 20 drops or so of olive oil on an organic cotton swatch and wear it on my gumline. Mostly I wore it at night, but a hour or two throughout the day. I did this for about a month, and my teeth are completely fine. Hope this helps others. and thank you for the great site.. Without the initial oil pulling, I could not have reduced the horrible pain at first."
09/10/2007: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "I had one case of a woman who got septicemia like conditions (blood poisoning and the blood becomes dark brown) where the bacteria went so deep that it caused a major fever, and headaches. Chemically speaking a low concentration in the blood of aspirin, was found to eliminate or kill the bacteria. Chemically speaking the acetylsalicylates actually digests the thin bacterium walls which causes the condition (and has a potential as antiviral and antibacteria properties like an antibiotics on the merits of it being able to destroy very thin microbial walls) and it was essential that aspirin was used to wash out the cavities cleaning. One case the teeth where cavities exist was so black that the oil pulling dissolves the bacterium that resulted in streaming black streaks during the die off, which I think is how oil pulling can kill certain cavity causing bacteria, not all mind you, the bacteria plaque are a bit more difficult to remove. I haven't been able to get neem oil, but the idea that it help somewhat is an interesting finding.
I believe that long term acid saliva is one factor which initiates enamel erosion as well as eating sour foods where potassium I think is what controls the saliva pH, while sodium controls the urinary pH, or extracellular fluids, in some ways. I still need to do further experiments in proving this of course!
Thank you for your contribution!"
09/12/2007: Donna replies: "Just for more clarity: These two teeth had just been cleaned of deep cavities, and temporary caps were on them. I don't think the Neem would have worked if there were still cavities in the teeth. Thanks again."

I started oil pulling with sunflower oil and notice that my pain had decreased in intensity by day 3. Within 7 days, I had no pain and my abscess was completely gone. I ran out of sunflower oil and am now using extra virgin coconut oil. My gums are a healthy pink--they are no longer receding. I had a loosened tooth that really needed to be pulled but the gums have tightened around the tooth and it is no longer loose. My skin feels softer and I'm no longer plagued with earaches. I tried oil pulling with Olive Oil but could not stand the taste. Once I finish up my coconut oil, I will go back to sunflower (it is a better tasting oil)."

I have been brushing my teeth with baking soda. I was afraid that maybe my mouth was becoming too alcalyne, so I started rinsing with vinegar, diluted in water. That helped a little bit.The last several nights, I was having a lot of trouble sleeping, I'd wake up in terrible pain. My teeth would be shooting pain all in my head and mouth. Last night, I got up and went to the bathroom in the middle of the night, trying to figure out what to do for it. I walked past a bottle of oil I had sitting there. I believe that God told me to take some of that oil and pull it, so I did. I didn't know that oil could help it, but I was ready to try about anything. I had heard of oil pulling, and had tried it for other things, but not that.
I don't know what all kind of oil I have in that mix. I make up mixes for various things. That mix I'd made up to apply topically to my husband's feet, so that he wouldn't have to take it orally. But had discontinued using it for that. I suppose that it has fish oil, pumpkin oil, cod liver oil, flax seed oil, evening primrose oil, and saw palmetto oil in it. These were all oils that I took out of the softgel capsules. I would guess that it also has almond oil, and/or grapeseed oil, and/or safflower oil. I have a bunch of carrier oils that I use to carry my essential oils. That's what I mixed in. God is just amazing. I am constantly amazed that he made a thing as amazing as oil. I am thankful for the night's sleep. I am thankful to be pain-free."

OIL PULLING, DENTAL INSTRUMENT, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
[YEA] 05/19/2008: Jean from Franklin, WI writes: "Tooth Abcess Cure:
I have no insurance and can't afford a dentist, so had to find a way to deal with tooth problems naturally. I've lost several fillings that occassionally cause infections. First thing I do is oil pulling with grapeseed, coconut or olive oil. Within a very short time the pain is down a fair amount, but of course the abscess is still there, filled with pus. Until that is emptied, the infection will remain. I use a dental instrument with an extremely sharp end and pierce the infected spot, then squeeze out as much of the pus as I can. This immediately cuts the pain down a whole lot more... now its just leftover soreness. I then do oil pulling again, followed by a good rinse of hydrogen peroxide. This cure works for an abscess every time.
PREVENTION: I haven't been to a dentist in over 12 years, despite the fact that I have huge holes in a few back molars due to missing fillings, and the cavities have NOT gotten worse. In fact I have fewer dental problems now. I no longer use commercial toothpastes. Obviously it would be best to have the regular mercury fillings removed and replaced... since I can't afford that procedure ... This is what I do instead...
I brush my teeth with BAKING SODA, followed by a HYDROGEN PEROXIDE rinse. Sometimes I start this with an OIL PULLING first. I often work on my teeth with just a toothbrush kind of absent-mindedly as I'm studying something on the internet. This pretty well removes most food particle and plaque. I recently bought one of those electric rechargeable toothbrushes, which works really well with the baking soda.
As long as I do these things regularly, I don't get any abscesses, cavities have not gotten any worse and may have actually gotten better, my teeth are whiter and feel cleaner, my gums are much healthier and all "pockets" have disappeared. It also prevents bad breath, and my tongue and gums are pink and healthy.
This has worked better for me than any dentist recommended procedure. I just wish I had known about it years ago. I'm absolutely sure I would have never gotten a cavity in the first place. Get rid of your commercial toothpaste and try this... you'll be glad you did!!!"
