1 BETTER BUT WITH SIDE EFFECTS

[YEA]  01/25/2007: Mark from Rochester, NY writes: "Oh, what raw garlic can't cure..... It's not that garlic cures infectious ailments both inside and outside the body it boosts your life giving auto immune system.... We were born with a system that is quite amazing to say the least. The auto immune system is working overtime in today's world.... Genetically, to know who you are is more important whereas everyone is so different yet totally the same when it comes to environmental hazards. We live in a quagmire of toxicity whether it be through the air, food or drink we take in..... Speaking of taking in, use raw garlic (chewed with food) as a spring, and fall seasonal pre-maintenence ritual .... Give your auto immune system a much needed break and de-toxify yourselves today. Thank you"

Swish the elixir around in mouth, spit it out... the next gulp of elixir (less water if possible) push pieces of the raw garlic with tongue into the effected area of the mouth...it'll burn.... but that means it is healing the infection. Repeat until the incredible pain disappears... within 48 hours.... With this particular application of Raw Garlic one can un-cap the jar and breath in the unbelievable strong fumes created by the elixir to help quell respiratory ills as well... If you swallow the garlic elixir you've just helped strengthen your entire digestive system as well as your auto immune system. The only side effect known about raw garlic is the destruction of friendship| ;0)....feed diced raw garlic in a dark green salad to people around you .... Nobody will be offended at this point..... [YEA]  01/23/2007: Ps writes: "What inspired me to write this story ? I was at the dentist 8am Tuesday morning... with a tooth abscess. The pain was incredible... Guess what ? Yep, Garlic. I couldn't do any garlic treatments the past few days on account of my social life so I had to wait until today to crunch 14 cloves of raw garlic into a jar filled half way with (good water) not tap water. I would swish the elixir around the infected area....press garlic pieces into the infected area with my tongue.... I feel less pain as we speak. "I ain't got no tooth insurance" so, (I'm sure to cancel the appointment now) but I believe than if I got the bill in the mail from a scheduled appointment next week I would be in much worse pain both physically and financially. Garlic is quite amazing."

[YEA]  Huw from London, UK writes: "Two years ago I had a painful tooth / gum infection and a long wait for a dental appointment. The pain was so acute that I took a raw garlic sliced it and rubbed it on the gum of the particular tooth for about five minutes. The gum throbbed, but after it was all cured - just like that and I cancelled the appointment. Extraordinary."

SO I tried the cloves of garlic and shoved them right under my lip and pressed them to the huge infected area. It burnt and stung but almost immediately the swelling disappeared. I also gargled with the cider vinegar solution and between both, the pain and throbbing disappeared - I slept like a baby. Unfortunately my tooth nerve is dead now so I still have to have a root canal, I wish I'd found this site sooner because the treatments really helped the infection, I wonder if I might have saved the tooth.."

GARLIC, APPLE CIDER VINEGAR, SALT

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/14/2009: Terry from Huntington Beach, CA writes: "Garlic (for wisdom tooth abcess) 50 cents.

Apple Cider Vinegar (for congestion) 2 bucks.

Table salt (for sinus rinse) had some.

Having a wisdom tooth abcess that lead to sinus infection (on one side), sore throat, and mild ear plugging all clear up by the 5th day...( i know corney)...PRICELESS!!!

I thought I was coming down with a cold cause my sinuses and throat were feeling a bit messed up, but only on one side. My wisdom tooth started to hurt the day before. Checked out your site and it linked all my ailments. I knew about the garlic for toothaches and ACV for congestion and saline rinse thing but didnt know my problems were related. I read a comment where someone had an upper tooth/gum infection move up into their sinuses!!!

First I chewed a raw clove of garlic and pushed the wad over my tooth. Burns like my favorite spicey foods, but in 5-10 min pain is gone and garlic juices help kill the abcess.

Then I made a ACV drink. Half a cap in a 8 oz. glass to bust up the snot. Blew my nose and enough came out that I could breath through both nostrils.

With my nose open enough now I did the salin rinse (neti pot style with a ketchup style squirt bottle with the tip cut down to about 1/2 an inch). I think a tablespoon of salt in a pint (16 oz.) of warm water works great!!!

If I didnt check out this site I would probably be trying to treat a cold...THIS SITE ROCKS!!!

Thanks for putting it all out there for others...Terry"

GARLIC, CHOCOLATE

1 BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  02/02/2009: Phil from Slaton, TX USA writes: "My tooth was abcessed and in pain. I read about the garlic and gave it a shot. I must have used too much because I could not stand the burning for more than a few seconds. I was thinking it blistered my skin, but I could be mistaken on that.

It did relieve some of the pain but I ended up seeing a doctor. I think if it happens again I will still try it but with a lesser amount.

On a side note, Chocolate works to bring temporary relief. Break off a square of a hershey bar and place it on the tooth. As it melts (don't chew it up and swallow) the pain will subside. If the tooth hits the infection stage Chocolate isn't enough though.

Great site. I am new to the idea of natural cures and so find it facinating. Thanks."

[YEA]  04/23/2009: Mary Lynn from New Freeport, Pa writes: "Cloves, garlic really worked for tooth pain and abscess!

I have had an abscess that started over a year ago. I looked online and saw that garlic works to kill the abscess. I ate 3 cloves of minced up garlic a day, and after 3 days the infection was killed. I had started eating right, avoiding white sugar and white flour, corn syrup, MSG's and all the other 'non foods' out there, started drinking raw milk, etc. About a month ago I started eating bread a lot, wasn't eating as well as I should have. I also binged on chocolate at Easter, ate a LOT of it. So, what happened? My tooth became infected again! I never was able to get the abscess to drain (I tried using a cottonball and salt/baking soda but it was under my upper gum and I could never get it 'right on' where the swelling was, it would always move and hit where the gum wasn't swelled up). So I went on here to find out about cloves. I don't have clove oil, and the pain was getting worse because I kept putting off treating it with raw garlic. I saw someone mention using clove powder, and dipped a cotton ball in that. It burned my gum, but it's hard to get the powder up there because the abscess is so high up near my cheek and gum. So instead, I got some hot water from the tap (probably 120 degrees, not boiling water, about 1 ounce or less, and took 1/2 teaspoon of clove powder, mixed it in with the water and swished it around my mouth. About 5 minutes later, the pain was pretty much gone! I then minced up a large clove of garlic and ate it (with food, because garlic is pretty hot tasting). So far so good! The powdered cloves in the water worked, and wasn't as burning to my gum either. I will eat another clove of garlic tonight before I go to bed. I keep taking raw garlic until the infection goes away and the tooth stops hurting. Excellent advice, thank you! I tell others about this website, in fact I'm going to email my friend now (she has a lot of tooth problems). Thank you so much!!"

GARLIC, TEA BAGS

1 YEA

[YEA]  10/15/2009: Rebecca from Vallejo, Ca writes: "Garlic and tea bags cured my tooth abscess.

I just wanted to say thank you to eveyone who took the time to post their experiences and remedies on this site. I am one of those lucky people who do not have dental insurance, I have medi-cal but they no longer provide dental care for adults. Ever since I had my kids I keep getting cavities which I had never had before. Any way, my teeth are not in the best condition and recently I took a trip to the emergency room for an abscessed tooth that I had. I took the full ten day dose of penicilin that they gave me. When the prescription ran out my abscess returned immediately, which means it was never gone, it was just reduced. I decide to hit the internet to research some natural remedies and stumbled upon this site. After reading all of the suggestions I went to my kitchen to see what I had. I had plenty of fresh garlic as well as several different kinds of tea. I sliced the fresh garlic and placed it in between my gum and cheek, right up against the abscess. It burned for the first few minutes. I replaced the garlic like seven times that night. Then when I finally went to bed I placed a tea bag against my gum in my cheek as well. First I used a green tea bag becuase that was what was reccomended but I remembered the caffeine and replaced it whith a camomile tea bag. When I woke up my mouth felt much better but I could tell the infection was still there. I went to work and did not mess with it for the first part of the day. In the afternoon I did the garlic slices two times to help with the swelling. When I got home the abscess was big again and I was getting ready to do the garlic again. I went in to the bathroom to look at it and I could see that the pus was closer to the surface. Then all of a sudden it opened up and snot colored pus and a little blood came out. I rinsed my mouth with hydrogen peroxide twice and then water. The garlic and tea bag did in 24 hrs. what penicilin could not do in ten days!!! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!"

GARLIC, TEABAG, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE, TURMERIC

1 YEA

[YEA]  10/17/2009: Jo from Hemet, Ca writes: "After 4 days of horrific pain I finally got smart enough to check Earth Clinic. Abcessed tooth, deep in the jaw line. Pain was enough to make me wnat to jump from a moving car. First, mistakenly, ran to the drug store and spent $15 onon over-the counter JUNK. LOL.

Then, at 2am on the fourth night, I finally checked in to EC. I saw the garlic cures for pain...as I did not have a fresh clove, but did have some chopped garlic in a jar, I immediately went to work. Scooped a teaspoon full and dropped in right onto to tooth. Ahhh...instant relief from the pain.

Next, I had to deal with getting the infection drawn to the surface. Tried the teabag. Just wet a regular old, cheap, black tea bag and put it directly on my gum and closed my mouth over it. I was able to grab some sleep for about 4 hours. A ringing phone woke me up at about noon. While talking on the phone, I felt a huge lump that had form next to my tooth. Quick...checked the mirror, the infection had surfaced.

I sterilized a needle, and one quick poke.....it started draining. 20 minutes and a bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide later.....DONE. I had my mouth open the whole time...cleaning with the HP and Q-tips.

I was able to attend a community dinner that evening at 5pm and definitely ate my share of hamburger, salads and banana splits....lol I was completely healed with absolutely no pain. Amazing.

As a preventative measure, I have since been mixing a 1/2 a teaspoon of Tumeric into a shot of vegetable juice...just to ward off any more infections.

Thank you EC! You and your posters have saved my life more than once."

GARLIC-INFUSED YOGURT

1 YEA

[YEA]  07/13/2008: Carra from San Diego, Californa writes: "I have had two startling healing successes using fresh plain yoghurt with active cultures infused with fresh raw garlic and I wanted to share this.

Recently I had a tooth unexpectedly abcess so swiftly that my jaw swelled overnight and became extremely painful. I had transportation and schduling problems and couldn't get into a dentist, didn't know what to do. Until I re-red an old herbal of mine that listed clinical studies on the antibiotic prpperties of fresh garlic on wounds and infections. I then went on the internet for more current information.
I had a container of fresh, plain yoghurt with probiotics /active cultures and I had cloves of fresh garlic on hand. I decided to peel and slice several cloves of garlic and infuse the yoghurt with the garlic as a means to get fresh garlic into my system and directly on the affected tooth as well. My decision to use the fresh yoghurt as a medium for the garlic was based in the research that has sown raw garlic to be supportive of friendly bacteria and to target harmful ones. I figured that the yoghurt's having the probiotics would support my system and help cushion the shock of my suddenly ingesting the raw garlic.

I started eating the strongly-inflused yoghurt before I went to bed that night and then again when I woke up the next morning. My stunned family and I watched as the swelling in my jaw decreased almost on the hour. Within in 24 hours after starting the garlic-infused yoghurt my jaw was back to normal and I had no tooth pain.

My second occasion to turn to garlic-infused yoghurt occured several moths later.

When a mis-step sent me sprawling and I caught the corner of a concrete step on my right shin I found another use for garlic-infused yoghurt that was equally amazing.

In the process of falling and trying to catch myself I had one small gouge in my right shin right beside a very deep gouge that took out several layers of skin-- through a boot no less.

I tried the topical antibiotic ointments that are typically recommended on gauze as the doctor recommended and had a painful mess.

Following traditional doctor's orders I either had a gash that wouldn't close or a bandage painfully stuck to the wound. In desperation one night I soaked a painfully stuck and encrusted gandage in garlic-infused yoghurt before I went to bed. lightly covering it with a thin layer of more gauze.

The next day when I went to tend the wound the garlic-infused bandage had painlessly released. I began to put the garlic-infused yoghurt on fresh clean gauze and continued to tape around the bandage. Not only did the bandages never stick -- the yoghurt dries and released apinlessly--- but the rate of healing and cell regeneration was astounding.

I had no stitches and I have no scar today.

I was pleased by the way the wound stayed clean, and healed so rapidly.

Since I have never heard of anyone using actife culture yogurt infused with fresh garlic before this, I thought I would share my experiences in case this remedy can open the doors for healing for others.

Within the past two days I have just begun the oil-pulling and I plan to try the apple cider vinegar remedy -- I hope to be writing again with successes there as well.

Thank you for all the work you do and for the doors of healing you are opening to all of us!"

GOLDENSEAL

1 YEA

[YEA]  Austin, IN writes: "I was reading to see if golden seal was recommended for abscessed tooth, and was shocked that it wasn't. Several months ago I was suffering with an abscessed tooth, and my dad gave me some golden seal, (yellow root). He told me to just put it on the abscess for as long as I could stand it. It is extremely bitter, but within 6 hrs. the swelling and pain was gone, and after 12 hrs. the area wasn't tender at all. I felt another abscess developing again a couple of months later. Applied the yellow root and it was gone before it even started to swell."

HONEY

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/18/2008: Jarrod from Fillmore, CA writes: "Apparently, there are three types of sugar. Glucose, fructose and sucrose. Sucrose is the only kind of sugar which is detrimental to the strength of your teeth. The other two turn out to be good. They trap bacteria and do other good stuff. I don't know all of the technical, scientifical (I know it's not a word, but it should be) theory behind it all, but I have tried this remedy myself and it works! I had a sore tooth for months. I had to stop rinsing my mouth out with hydrogen peroxide because the pain was unbearable. I bought some local honey and started eating a lot (two tablespoons with my coffee in the morning and more here and there when I had the time. Up to probably 10 tablespoons a day. I like honey, so this was easy. I don't think you need that much though. I also chewed on some honey comb that was in the jar. Not sure if that helped either, but it was a good gum substitute. Anyway, my pain is completely gone now and I can rinse with hydrogen peroxide! God bless!"

HYDROGEN PEROXIDE

9 YEA

[YEA]  10/01/2007: FR from NYC writes: "Hi, just wanted to share with you my cure for an infected gum -- hydrogen peroxide. Also wanted to respond to Subashini from Kuwait, because I may have an answer for her about the bad breath and oil pulling.

My story (I'll try to be brief)... got a piece of food stuck in the gum behind one of my front teeth. No matter what I did -- floss, oil pull, swish peroxide -- it didn't come out. I then went to a new dentist last week to have my teeth cleaned and the stuck particle removed. Lucky me -- the hygenist was just filling in for the day and during the teeth cleaning part, said she saw something dislodge but then "lost sight of it". Okay, fine, I thought. That night I awoke in the middle of the night with terrible bad breath. It was so bad it actually woke me up. Yes, I do have sensitive smell!! When I looked at the right front tooth the next day, I noticed that the gum was severely swollen, from the tooth to the roof of the mouth. The bad breath also persisted. I started my holistic regime of oil pulling, then later swishing with hydrogen peroxide. The oil pulling, like Subashini said, made my breath worse. YUCK! I tried swishing with sea salt. No luck. Finally I had the idea a couple of days ago to soak a cotton ball with hydrogen peroxide and then hold it (tightly) to the swollen gum for 10 minutes. I also pinched another h202 soaked cotton ball to the back side of the tooth where the piece of food had initially lodged. Interestingly, it didn't hurt, but certain areas of the gum turned white. 10 minutes later the white had disappeared. Glad to say that my bad breath smell immediately disappeared and has not returned. My gum is looking a little better. A couple more days of this (soaked h202 2x a day) and I think I will be back to 100%. I highly suggest this technique if you have a tooth abcess or swollen gums from an infection. It is the best way for hydrogen to penetrate, otherwise it just turns to foam if you swish it around in your mouth.

So Subashini, I think your issue may be an infection somewhere in your gums that the oil pulling is bringing to the surface. Infection smells like dental plaque -- quite disgusting. My suggestion is to pull up your top lip (then pull down the bottom lip) in the mirror in daylight and look for redness in your gums. If you can pinpoint an area, then soak it with hydrogen peroxide cotton ball 2x a day for a day or two. I would predict that your issue of bad breath will immediately go away, even after you oil pull.

Oh, one more thing. You will need to bend over a sink whilst holding the cotton ball to your gums and let your saliva run out. You may need to do round 2 during the same session. Most importantly, you don't want to swallow anything! Rinse well afterwards. Hope this helps someone, somewhere. All My Best,"

09/27/2007: Subashini from Kuwait, Kuwait replies: "hi, i tried oil pulling with sesame oil. i have done it for nearly 10 months not even 1 day left out. still my irregular period problem has not solved... only good thing is tartar in teeth's have disappeared... generally i do not get bad breath. after started doing oil pulling i am getting it now. once i leave oil pulling again the plaque formation started in my teeth.... if i stop oil ulling bad breath stopped... i am highly optimistic charactor.... how much i can convenince myself to continue it,,,,it is not working well.... Also by searching the cold pressed sunflower oil... i am tired too much... normal sunflower oil within one day bad breath starting.... i don't know why... whom to get guidence from which website we do interaction with experts... www.oilpulling.com is only giving fewer information.... please advise me if i am wrong... i strictly follow the instruction how to do oil pulling even though it happens to me like this.."

08/14/2009: Pureenergy from Los Angeles, Ca, US replies: "While in college I smoked (I know, very gross), but was also vain enough to keep my teeth white - LOL. I tried all the over-the-counter stuff and my dentist advised me that none of it works (this was before the whitening strip craze) because anything that's going to whiten your teeth must be on your teeth for a minimum of three minutes for any effect to take place. I discovered Hydrogen Peroxide then and have been using it for 20-years now. If you look on the label, it will tell you it can be used as a gargle or rinse when diluted. I began diluting it and brushing with baking soda by dipping a wet tooth brush into the powder then brushing my teeth - great mix. It tastes kind of nasty at first, but goes away in a few days. In my later years, I now just take a swig of Peroxide before getting into the shower and rinse it around my mouth for 3-5 minutes. It's awesome. People constantly ask me how I keep my teeth so white and I fall asleep in the dentist's chair while my teeth are getting cleaned. I'm excited to try the oil pulling next. I LOVE THIS SITE!!!"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Kat: In that case, before going to sleep take 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda with 1/2 glass of water. Also try to use baking soda as a mouthwash to neutralize the acid first before a clove oil peroxide. If a local store has a half a pound of powdered xylitol, a teaspoon of xylitol taken internally and used as a mouthwash can also help. For remineralization of tooth, some molybdenum supplements may help."
