Thyroid Cures Questions
LUMP ON THYROID, REMEDIES NEEDED
10/29/2008: Susan writes: "About a month ago, I found a lump on the right side of my neck. I went in for some tests, and was told that the lump is on my thyroid, and it is solid. I will have to have a biopsey next week to find out exactly what it is. I am experiencing some discomfort. The blood test came back that the thyroid is functioning normally. I am terrified that is cancer of the thyroid. What can I do to heal myself?"

WHY DO WE GET LOW THYROID AND HASHIMOTOS?
08/04/2008: Donella writes: "Hi Ted, I love your articles and wish I had studied along those lines to understand it all. However, I can still benefit from your ACV/Baking Soda remedy. It has made the difference in just a few hours. I was feeling very confused as to how to treat my degestive problems.
I have another issue. I was diagnosed with Hashimotos 17 yrs ago after I gave birth to my daughter. Then a yr ago I registered negative on the thyroid antigen test for Hashimotos at which time they lowered my synthroid from 100mcg down to 75mcg.
My question in the fist place is why do we get low thyroid or hashimotos? Should I be addressing this issue to change it or just keep accepting it as the outcome of life to take synthroid forever. I am 56 and in pretty good health although had precancer of the cervix 11 yrs ago. (I panicked opted for hysterectomy). I feel really good and healthy try to exercise regularly but also get digestive problems.
Thank you for reading this.
Donella"
08/04/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hi Donella, I'm not Ted but I can tell you that nutrition has a lot to do with low thyroid problems. A deficiency of the B complex vitamins particularly will cause a sluggish thyroid and a deficiency of iodine will cause both a sluggish thyroid as well as a goiter. If you still have the problem, get a good stress tablet and take l at mealtimes & bedtime for a few weeks, but go get your thyroid tests run at the end of l month because you might have kick started your thyroid gland and need to continue the stress tablet vitamins and drop off or at least decrease the synthroid dosage."
08/07/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Donella:
While the simplest problem to digestion (and I constantly update my remedies!), is baking soda and ACV, as a person gets older the ability for the body to maintain alkalinity and sodium potassium imbalance issue is also another major problem also. More advanced remedies require addition of potassium once the alkalinity issues in the event the simpler remedy don't work. Therefore a smaller addition of potassium citrate really helps too, but this applies to people on meats and omnivorous diet, not vegetarian and fruit diet.
Generally speaking, Hashimoto's disease and low thyroid (hypothyroid) often goes together, that's because it is the Hashimoto that is causing thyroiditis, suppressing the thyroid function leading to hypothyroidism through a condition called thyroditis - an inflammation of the thyroid. While most convential medicine is silent as to whether autoimmune disease is fungal or viral in nature, my own experience and the remedy for Hashimoto's disease deals with the cause, or at least makes more sense at least for me, by trying to normalize thyroid function instead of going for hormone replacement which worsens the condition in the long run.
The cause of Hashimoto's disease based on my experience is often triggered by fungus exposure by living in a moldy house for a long period of time. This often triggers a series of disease within the entire family (living in that area for decades), one can have polycystic kidney disease, another can get polycystic ovarian syndrome, another can lead to hirsutism, and yet another can get Hashimoto's disease.
The trigger has often been the fungus. Most autoimmunity disease that I have encountered has been the fungus that leads to autoimmunity. It's effect is similar when a fungus infection causing us to scratch so much until the skin begins to bleed to remove the itchiness. Imagine a white blood cells detecting this irritation and this leads to "autoimmunity".
My encounters with a few people with Hashimoto that I find a major problem, is that there are strings of other disease too, not just hypothyroidism, PCOS, adrenal exhaustion, chronic fatigue, etc.
Therefore, it is without surprise that one of the remedy intended as an antifungal remedy responds well such as the borax remedy (against autoimmunity, normal hormonal function) using 1/4 teaspoon of borax (maybe lower in woman at 1/8 teaspoon) in one liter of drinking water, taken usually 5 days out of a week to reduce autoimmunity. Selenium is a well known antifungal and in some cases of Hashimoto, depression is indicated. In this event taking selenium supplements, usually selenium yeast or selenomethionine helps. This is also true of another antifungal mineral such as chromium, which by the way lowers the blood sugar that leads to improvement in Hashimoto.
There is a debate on the issue of whether iodine is of any help some original research claims it is unrelated. There is however a mistake, since most research considers various minerals independent of each other, when in fact they are related. For example, taking more bromine induces less iodine, taking more chlorinated products leads to iodine lowering effect. In order to settle this iodine controversy, one indicator is whether the person with Hashimoto has weakness or chronic fatigue in the first place, low metabolism, obesity are some indicators that usually tells a kelp is needed. Some people might disagree saying kelp doesn't help because it is high in iodine. But what is so interesting about kelp is that it is also very high in bromine. A bromine and iodine, is a strange beast, because they oppose each other, but what is interesting is it allow the body to balance the iodine itself with the bromine/iodine mixed found naturally in kelp. In fact I did use the kelp to successfully noticed improvement with Hashimoto. Whether it has a lowering iodine effect or higher iodine effect is not known, but I do know that kelp normalizes iodine because of its naturally occuring iodine opposing bromine found at the same time. Much of the reseach sadly ignores relationship between elements and the avoiding of looking at natural products preferring to use the pure iodine and iodine compounds, ignoring the other elements which causes the body to normalize iodine by itself as well as ignoring whether Hashimoto that a person is presently having has any hypothyroid function, but more clearly whether weakness, lack of energy, or chronic fatigue is a more important factor. Whether there is high appetite and problems of obesity as well as symptomatic red skin stripes that appears on the skin. Because it is that symptom that I used zinc gluconate 25-100 mg to control appetite in those very cases. But where depression is indicated along with Hashimoto, a fairly large dose selenium is needed, but always starting with the normal 200 mcg selenium supplements often in the form of selenium yeast. Interestingly if the response for depression improvement is a clear improvement, but the effect is not too long, lasting only 2-6 hours, more selenium is often needed to extend the effects of depression, such as 1000 mcg is the common dose I have used. The effect of selenium on the thyroid is to reduce peroxidase which prevents normal thyroid function, but for me it is the anti fungal properties from past exposure to fungus which occurs in moldy houses or after birth of a child seems to be one of the problem.
Fungus (along with smoke and pollution ) is a common trigger of Hashimoto such that, certain foods are needed to be avoided that has mycotoxins, especially bread, sugar.and fruits. Even eating a small portions of meat, bread, sugar or fruits individually and independently will cause hypothyroid. Even having a "normal" blood sugar is not even normal for Hashimoto, in event where obesity and low energy level is the problem. In this event, more chromium such as 1000 mcg to 1500 mcg is taken to reduce the blood sugar from 100 to 80 often improves the condition. Technically speaking sugar triggers fungus growth, and blood sugar has to be 80 to be considered "normal" in my own experience. So the normal blood sugar is not normal for people with many other disease, some may be higher or lower, but more often it is lower than the gold standard of 100.
A thyroiditis can be triggered by inflammation but such inflammation can also occur with diets lower in omega 3 fish oil. A body with low omega 3: to high omega 6 can lead to thyroiditis and taking more omega 3 fish oil has helped. However the major remedy for Hashimoto appears to be (that has good result) is the kelp (usually 5-10 or more kelp 250 mg - but may lead to acne in tradeoff with more energy level - acne is flushing effects of cystitis found in organs - so it helps).
A glandular or even a brain inflammation (acid brain) can also be reduced, if sleep apnea, or non responsiveness of other remedies mentioned here that a carbicarb remedy is needed. The carbicarb remedy raises immunity by causing the brain metabolism into healing instead of metabolism mode, but interestingly alkalinity is anti-fungal itself, as fungus usually cannot grow in an acid medium. It is this reason why people with Hashimoto in my opinion avoids fungus mycobacterium foods such as potatoes, peanuts, peanut butter, plants grown underground (except for carrots), and other fungus rich foods. The only viral cause of Hashimoto that I have noticed is red stripes found in some people and it goes white when a lot of zinc gluconate 50 mg is taken for example to reduce appetite, more so than directly treat them, was reduced. The viral origin appears to be opportunistic from thyroidal problem.
Alkalizing remedies using baking soda, apple cider vinegar still forms the basis of reduction of thyroiditis by alkalization. A simple baking soda is the 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 or 1 glass of water taken twice a day, or a more conservative 2 tablespoons of Apple cider vinegar plus 1/2 teaspoon baking soda in 1 glass of water taken twice a day helps a little since the dose here is rather mild. Some positive effects should be noticed on the second or the third week.
I am certain the issue of Hashimoto I can discussed in length, but these are the important highlights for dealing with Hashimoto, at least from my own experience and there might me several points I might missed here or that may be important such as avoiding common food intolerance found in peppermint toothpaste, acid forming food, bread, white flour, and other acid forming foods. B complex aslo helps and some woman with Hashimoto also has problem ovaries, cervix, adrenal issues also. Therefore Hashimoto cannot be looked in isolation when chronic fatigue, obesity, blood sugar problem, food intolerance are there. They must also be considered too.
Ted"

PARATHYROID GLAND REMEDIES NEEDED
06/26/2008: Carol writes: "Hello Ted: I wrote to you several months ago but did not hear anything back so I thought I would write again. I was diagnosed with hyperparathyroidism and the only solution the medical community has is to remove one or more of the parathyroid glands which is a tricky operation and does not seem to me to be addressing the cause only the symptom. Right now I am seeing an Ayervedic practitioner who has me on several herbs. He says I have severe malabsorption and very low kidney function-this showed in the blood work also. I have tried eliminating fluoride from my diet and water as much as possible even buying a shower filter that is supposed to remove fluoride but who knows if it really does but I have read that fluoride is not good for the parathyroids. I am also taking vitamin D although there is controversy over taking it when you have this condition as you already have too much calcium in the blood and the concern is that you could make things worse and possibly cause a stroke. I am so frustrated with this-there is practially no information anywhere on this disease other than cut, cut, cut. Thank you in advance for any information you can give me.
07/01/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Parathyroid is an interesting one and hair mineral analysis will point to possible deficiency and excess of it. However if a parathyroid is affected, it requires a more effort in general to normalize them in supplements. For example in the condition of hypoparathyroidism, the use of vitamin D requires a dose of 50,000 to 200,000 i.u., while rickets require only between 5,000 to 50,000 i.u. per day. This does not mean more vitamin D or less vitamin D should be taken, but that a blood vitamin D level needs to be examined, whether they occur within a fairly normal range, since it is the kidneys which produces the active form of vitamin D.
Interestingly a magnesium may indirectly lower the vitamin D level as it opposes calcium, thus lowers hyperactivity of parathyroid. Sometimes however, in event of a kidney failure, a parathyroid hormone might produce a lot (one scenario) in order to cause the kidneys to produce more vitamin D. In any event hyperparathyroid may be related to kidney problems and blood vitamin D level can be one way to check for possible kidney problems. Assuming it was a kidney problem, then the guilty party may not be a parathyroid problems. For example, an infection of a kidney can lead to either overproduction or underproduction of active vitamin D levels. When this happens, a parathyroids tries as best as it can to balance the vitamin D, hopelessly, leading to either hypoparathyroid and hyperparathyroid problems. Therefore, fixing the parathyroid is not the answer in event of a kidney or renal failure."

IODINE AND THYROID
05/18/2008: Elaine writes: "A few years ago a friend I worked with told me her grandmother was told to take a few drops of over the counter iodine in a glass of water for her thyroid. She said she didn't know how much she took. Could anyone out there tell me what is a good amount?"
05/18/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To the one wanting to know how many drops of iodine should be taken for the thyroid, I would suggest no more than 3 - 4 drops per day. If you want to apply it to the skin, I think about l square inch is what I have seen recommended to be painted on the skin for absorption. If she feels this is geting her a little hyper or nervous, I would decrease it to every other day or even less often to the stage of comfort. If you can find it, Lugol's solution is the iodine preparation for this & should have a recommended dosage on the bottle. A health food place is a better bet for finding it. I have found that several pharmacists don't even know what Lugol's solution is."

THYROID AND WEIGHT ISSUES
05/13/2008: Tigger writes: "this isn't about a remedy, it's about being diagnosed with having an underactive thyroid. Some time last year my thyroid went on the fritz and now I am taking Levothyroxine medicine for the rest of my life. Last year I tried losing weight with Weight Watchers, I was in the gym every day for 45min's at a time & still nothing. But my question is to anyone out there, what has worked for you to lose weight? I went out and bought some coconut oil but haven't bought the apple cider yet. I am so ready to drop these pounds, it's ridiculous. Outside of being diagnosed with an underactive thyroid, I am also on a hormone shot. Nothing seems to be working as far for me to lose weight. I've tried everything from the raw diet fruits & veggies to the Mayo clinic diet. I am at the end of my rope, plus, I can't keep buying clothes. Please HELP.."
05/14/2008: Doris from Alabama replies: "Response to Tigger: I tried the cinnamon and honey at night and it works better than anything I tried. Also, the vingar and water will work but you have to give time for it to bring the pounds off. It won't happen overnight but if you keep it up, you will see that it is working. Hope this is some help to you."

APPLE CIDER VINEGAR QUESTION
03/31/2008: Linda writes: "Hi, I have low thyroid and take natural herbal supplements for it not prescription drugs.... will the avc affect my thyroid?' and should I take my acv an 1 hour before my supplements? Thanks for your help."
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Much of the thyroid problems come from toxic fluoridated water use in U.S, which is in a very toxic form of fluorosilicic acid. Even Nazi German to control population used an even safer form of sodium fluoride. Both fluoride and chlorinated water displaces iodine, which kills the thyyroid. But one interesting thing is the bromine bleaching they added in the white bread and flour further displaces the iodine even further. So the best thing I would do is to remove fluoride, by borax remedy, take more iodine, tyrosine, and alkalized. A reasonable natural iodine supplements is the kelp, which has iodine, and so is seaweed added to soups. If I need to take iodine, I prefer a sodium iodide, 10 mg a day for only a couple of days out of a week taking at the same time the l-tyrosine, which is essential for the thyroid too. Most importantly, many bottled drinking water now contains fluoride and chlorine added inavertently, and I have found that aspartame also reduce thyroid function, and those has to be removed. It is interesting that white bread and white flour can't be consume because of alloxan and bromine. A simpler iodine might be just the lugol's solution but in some cases most thyroid problems can also be a virus problem. In one case a woman has the Hashimoto disease, and in another a chronic fatigue (Epstein Barr virus), and if virusl is indicated, it causes thyroiditis, which is an inflammation of the thyroid, and a simple remedy for this, but it requires an a lot of zinc, as I later found out, something like 50 mg to 150 mg of zinc gluconate per day taken at least a month's period with some break of one day or two day a week. A borax will neutralize a lot of bad effects of fluoride by ridding of it. But since fluoride increases aluminum in our system by about 500-600% the apple cider vinegar with baking soda may help chelate or remove some of those aluminum out by the actions of malic acid found in the apple cider vinegar. The alkalizing remedy for this usually requires a 2 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar plus 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice to three times a day may help. If fungus is the cause, (and some do have candida), then a borax remedy and an iodine maybe helpful. The usual borax remedy is 1/8 teaspoon in one liter of drinking water taken only a couple of days out of a week, usually 3-5 days out of a week. The effect of borax sometimes produces weight loss, and they tend to be more significant if the water the person happens to be drinking is the toxic form of fluorosilicic acid added to the drinking water and it gets synergistically bad when chlorine is added, never mind the damage it causes on agriculture on plant growth!"

THYROID REMOVAL MED ALTERNATIVES
03/09/2008: B writes: "What recommendations do you have for someone who has had Thyroid Removal Surgery and is having to take the medication for life? Are there any "natural" alternatives to the medication. I realize this would be your opinion because you are not providing any medical advice"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Brenda: The simplest natural thyroid I can think of is iodine supplements and tyrosine. People with thyroid remove find it helpful to take about less than 1-2 grams of dessicated thyroid, as it is natural which is unlike more synthetic versions and experience less side effects. Certain cases of regeneration is possible of people with Graves Disease, but not Hashiimoto and adenoma, which causes atrophy of the thyroid. In my personal observations a lot of these disease relates to viral, metabolic acidosis and mycoplasma which lead to a simple thyroid conditions. Since Hashimoto is a viral origins as an example, than certain antiviral remedies should be needed such as zinc, magnesium, and olive extract. Even if people do have the thyroid remove some iodine uptake (common iodine dose lugol's solution is 5-15 drops per day) were noted within a year indicating regeneration in a small group of people. Although, I have noted that cat recover faster in surgery and that sound therapy can resulted in regeneration of certain organs remove I think I should try to play a cat's purr sound everyday to help regeneration. In sound therapy, a voice recording is done, and the sound spectrum breakdown between 1 Hz to 5000 Hz is analyzed versus the amplitude. The missing frequencies can be played based on the analysis of the sound breakdown which should help the body restore normal functions better too. Cats purr does too although differently. It should be noted that most massage machines the frequencies are also near the cat's purr, which are about between 20-50 Hz, usually and can be applied on the stomach and or the back at low settiings which are usually about 40 Hz can help the body's eventual recover of the thyroid. Therefore, the natural supplement that I might considered are natural thyroid extract, some zinc gluconate supplements, some magnesium supplements, cat's purr, using the hand massage in area of stomach to stimulate the throat area directly and the use of cat's purr played on a computer's speaker are the likely things I would do. In addition, I think 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water twice a day, or 2 tablespoons of lemon and 1/2 tablespoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water, plus some daily colloidal silver and aloe vera juice should help some regeneration of thyroid or perhaps some iodine supplements with tyrosine may induce the body to produce some hormone to make up for the losses too. I am sure I will do many other things, but the biggest attention I would pay attention to is the virus and mycoplasma, which I think is what is causing all the glandular diseases. I do' know that vegetable oils causes glandular inflammation and atrophy, but I also found aspartame to be now hidden and unlabeled in many consumer foods that creates even more problem as they breakdown into formaldehyde and kill off the body's glandular system. It's nothing like tomatoes, that may have methanol since they are bound in pectin as well as traces of ethanol and is usually have no effect, while it is the free methanol from the aspartame in presence of human enzymes that does the most damages. Many fragrance products is a real problem when people have their glands removed and immunization causes glandular death since I remember finding fungus, mycoplasma, mercury, and other toxins that seem to attack the glandular system and causes eventual death and removal. These things don't seem to happen in natural wildlife, but does happen when taking yearly flu vaccinations, and other vaccinations. In animal studies I read their life span to shorten in almost every cases whenever immunization is used and the same numbers, atrophy and glandular damage is noted. Hence these free radical may somehow be protected with some vitamin C sodium ascorbate and vitamin E on a regular basis, but it appears more reasonable that the reason why Asians die awfully well in controlling SARS, bird flu despite the constant chemtrails received with these deadly virus, I must give due credit to the health authorities on their actions in quarantine and stopping such outbreak to be far more effective in containing the problem. Because of this idea, this can be applied to us by killing off moldy houses using borax and hydrogen peroxide to prevent their spread to us, by disinfection too, the same things that health authorities did in stopping the outbreak the same. This is important since if the glands were remove, the body is much more sensitive to bacteria infection viruses molds and fungus, which would further more health problems and prevention is best so that the body doesn't get any more worse than it is already is."
03/10/2008: Ted replies: "P.S. One other minor point is the iodine supplements (usually 5 drops of lugol's solution a day mixed in a glass of water) I have found to reduce certain fainting spells too by increasing the body's immunity and metabolism"

FINDING BALANCE
03/06/2008: D writes: "Dear Ted, I have a new problem (it is almost ridiculous for me): hyperthyroidsm! The fact is that I had hypothyroidism a few months after my daughter was born 3 years ago. So when I realized that I was gaining weight instead of losing it after the birth of my son in November I increased the amount of kelp that I had been taking since the first problems with my thyroid. Before I was taking two capsules a day of 640mg. After the birth of my son I started taking 4 of these capsules a day. I also got some vitamine E, some gugulpid and forskolin, herbs to increase thyroid function. I took very little of these herbs though. Sorry to bother you all the time (as if you were a paid doctor) but who can help me? I try to help people the more that I can on these issues out of gratitude for your free advice! My nurse at Columbia wants me to go see an endocrinologist. I think that I probably took too much kelp and herbs. I stopped taking them (but the goiter that I developed these weeks is still there) I haven't been taking them for 2 weeks now. Do you suggest me just to wait? Thank you so much again for everything!!!"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Daniela: The present state of hyperthyroid and hypothyroid right not is a lot of confusion and disinformation as well as certain key information not being mentioned that some people, at least me, needs to make some mention.
Firstly if you take too much iodine, the thyroid can swell up appearing like a goiter. On the other hand too little iodine the thyroid can swell up just the same.
There was a woman I have recently met, and she has a hypothyroidism, or a small enlarge thyroid that won't go away. But the cause has a lot to do with non-iodine issues, such as a simple thyroid infection, usually from a respiratory problems, or that there is thyroiditis, causing the enlargement which can mean a either a hypothyroidism or a hyperthyroidism. The most interesting fact is taking too much calcium lowers the iodine level causing hypothyroid, which is commonly found in many vegetarian and potato diets. Vegetables has high levels of calcium. Cow's need not drink milk to produce milk, there's plenty from the grass they are eating. So obviously taking more magnesium, less calcium and boron supplements will counter that effects. In fact too much calcium relates to increased fungus and mycoplasma which also tends to promote the thyroid function. One interesting fact I learned from an accident woman was that the head trauma and body trauma causes muscles alignment, stress and pulls to be out of place which tends to disturb the lymph node function. The disturbed lymph node function can accumulate and cause lumps on the throat too, and lack of lymphatic flows due to obstruction due to physical trauma can cause the thyroid or lymph in the surrounding area to swell up, and an infection can lead to excess thyroid function due to irritation and inflammation or even excess calcium accumulating in the pituitary glands (or lack of sleep) can result in lowered TSH (thyroid stimulating hormone) leading to hyperthyroidism. A hyperthyroidism is what leads to hair loss that I have noted in your previous postings regarding that although I didn't 'know about you having this condition, otherwise, the remedy would me much simpler.
A thyroiditis, or a thryoid infection is a more common one that has been wrongly explained where iodine or lack of iodine is the cause, when in some cases it was due to accident and respiratory illness. Therefore antibiotic supplements might help prevent thyroiditis, such as olive leaf extract, green tea no sugar, hydrogen peroxide 1% applied to the throat area, alkalizing using the lemon and baking soda remedy that reduces excess calcium buildup that can initiated an iodine deficiency by blockages. A mycoplasma or mycobaterium can cause the goiter to swell up as well as low grade sickness of viral causes is also quite possible and olive leaf extract can do that too. Excess heavy metals such as mercury, iron can also generate this problem too.
Interestingly a thyroditis can be an immunity issue due to lack of vitamin D3, K2 which is often occurs after pregnancy due to such a deficiency in giving milk, especially the vitamin D and it also relates to lowered magnesium, too much zinc or too little zinc, too much copper or too little copper that relates to the thyroid condition also.
The simplest way to get out of this condition at least from a sudden turn of events from hypothyroidism to a hyperthyroidism, at least is look over whether a person has respiratory illness, breathing difficulties, eating too much (most common) calcium or too little calcium, too little vitamin D, imbalances of copper and zinc, lymph nodes and lymphatic blockages are affected, and finally to treat them as a mycobacterium problems before dealing with the issue of iodine. Since in general people don't get hyperthroidism from taking kelp, since there is a lot of bromine in them to prevent too much iodine, but it could be moldy house, fungus, and other more common ones that I happen to see more than my fair share of goiter and enlarged thyroid due to excessive taking of antibiotics. Antibiotics by the way is a fungus and seems to support fungus growth, and if it happens to find its way into the thyroid glands it leads to the "autoimmunity", where anitfungal remedy is the borax 1/4 teaspoon in 1 liter of drinking water, plus sufficient alkalinity such as 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water twice a day, for example. Deep massage and lymphatic dranage and treatment of respiratory disorders as well as lower intake of carbohydrates and complete avoidance of aspartamen, and fluoride product is important as fluoride and chlorine found in water and toothpaste cause the pituitary to produce less TSH, causing hyperthyroidism, which leads to a swollen thyroid too. Therefore borax remedy should reduce the fluoride, while sodium thiosulfate drops should neutralize the chlorinated water. Alloxan found in bread seems to cause glandular problems, such as thyroiditis and certain propionic acid or other toxins found in the bread seems to block lymphatic drainage.
A more direct method of treating a thyroiditiis is the use of hot castor oil packs which consists of a small towel soaked with castor oil applied to the problem throat area with a not too hot water bag. Thyroidism and possibly autoimmunity initiated by fungus can be also reduced by reducing them through alkalizing as well as borax remedy too. Excess free heavy metals can also lead to this so chlorella and spirulina might still be considered too. It should be noted that goiter size can reduce or increase in a day from the things we do, and if observant enough should give us some clues what was done right or wrong too.
Still pituitary glands problems from calcium, fluoride, and chlorine should also be noted that it can also lead to hyperthyroidism due to lowered output of thyroid stimulating hormone by the pituitary gland."

FILTERED WATER SYSTEM
02/04/2008: J writes: "Hi Ted, I was wondering if it is safe to drink water using a filtered water system and if so which type of system would you recommend?"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The single safest system I can think of without the free heavy metals (most water filter DOES NOT remove this), is the Reverse osmosis water. However the R.O. water has a problem, minerals and bicarbonates are removed, hence sea salt and baking soda is added. The amount is 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt, plus 1/8 teaspoon of baking soda is a reasonable figure in a per liter of drinking water. There was one house I visited that has alzheimer in many victims, when I checked their drinking water, it was high in both zinc and copper free metals despite a good water filtering system. Zinc, copper and aluminum free metals are now implicated in the brain. The gentlest way to remove this is l-carnosine. Ted"

UNDERACTIVE THYROID, HIGH CHOLESTEROL
12/03/2007: Tracy writes: "Can someone make some recommendations on what can help me with my aliments? Under active thyroid, high cholesterol, early signs of sugar, high blood pressure, protein in my urine and I need to loose weight. I just started oil pulling with sesame oil 9 days ago."
Joyce from Joelton, TN replies: "To Tracy of Charleston - 12/05/07 - jump start that sluggish thyroid by getting a good stress tab (B complex vitamins with C'and E added) - the bottle will tell you one a day, but until you feel better, take 1 4 times a day (meals and bed time - for that protein in your urine proteinuria) STOP drinking any carbonated beverages (cans, bottled, or otherwise) for 1 week and see if it isn't decreased, if not gone completely. If it is and you want to keep the two kidneys you were born with, stay off them. All your other com-plaints or symptoms, are the early stages of Metabolic syndrome X, which orthodox medicine calls it insulin resistance. I'll continue to use name the doctor who first decided that DM type 2 was not a disease by itself but just another symptom of a larger problem gave it. You can research it on the internet where he has been posting this information for at least 10 or 15 years or you can take a shortcut and get a copy of The Carbohydrate Addict's Healthy HeartProgram by Heller, Heller and Vagnini which will tell you how to eat healthier (notice I did not say diet) so that your body doesn't kick out excess insulin - when you do that all your other problems will go away, including losing that weight without being hungry. I have tried eating that way and know of others who also found that it works. I also found it a whole lot easier to understand that counting calories or figuring exchange diets. The only thing I disagreed with them on is, I don't consider broccoli a high carbohydrate food, but if it is, it probably has enough fiber to offset it. While reading this book, keep a pencil handy for writing down all the names our food suppliers hide monosodium glutamate and aspartame (Nutrisweet) under, which includes the chicken broth that Tyson's states their raw chicken may contain up to 15% of. If this book doesn't convince you to start eliminating these toxins from your foods, read neurosurgeon Russell Blaylock's Excitotoxins: The Taste That Kills to find out what these same toxins do to your brain and central nervous system.
Start thinking and eating healthier today and hope your body will be able to heal itself when you quit poisoning it. It may be more difficult to get fluoride out of your system, if your water supply is fluoridated. This is another toxin which does the body no good and I honestly can't see that kids or adults today have any fewer cavities than we had before they fluoridated our water."

SUPPLEMENTS FOR AUTOIMMUNE DISEASE
02/07/2007: J writes: "Is this your newest protocol for fighting autoimmune disease like graves disease or lupus? If so can you post it to Earth Clinic. I was set on giving her the borox, vitamin d and magnesium chloride. Which is preferred? J"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The newest ones for me is borax in hydrogen peroxide. It is likely that 1/4 or 1/8 teaspoon of borax in 1 liter of water, plus 30 drops of 3% food grade H2O2, usually 5 days out of a week. This is the main one. Plus d-Mannose 250-500 mg twice a day. Chlorella/spirulina is needed to remove heavy metals and essential. 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day, or a better 1/2 teaspoon baking soda plus 1/16 teaspoon of potassium in 1/2 glass of water twice a day, at least. Baking soda is most helpful, but borax is to kill the mycoplasma and nanoinsect, if there was one, it should rid of the major issues of lupus. Vitamin D and magnesium are supportive remedies. You can check the lupus page for more details, too. I need to remind, that alkalization and borax remains central to healing. d-Mannose (also from cranberries) and xylitol are the newest remedy. I am currently looking into xylitol and it seems promising. To do try that, I would add 1 teaspoon of xylitol to the borax and hydrogen peroxide solution in one liter. Of course mannose can be used in synergy. The body's liver uses the mannose to form mannose binding lectin to attached to offending organism and allowing white blood cells to consume that. Xylitol might work in similar fashion on lectin, but likely that xylitol prevents the pathogens from attaching to healthy cells killing it from forming colonies. Ted"

BORAX AND VITAMIN D
02/06/2007: J writes: "Hi Ted, I saw the the auto immune program you have with borax and vitamin d . Would you suggest that long term regiment for her hyper thyroid condition? Thanks J"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "The newer remedies required added a small amount of xylitol or d-mannose 1/4 teaspoon per glass, a couple of drops hydrogen peroxide 3% (anywhere form 3-10 drops 3% in a glass of water), borax and vitamin D against an autoimmunity problems. It seems to help, especially whenever xylitol (or mannose or both) is added, whatever organism that attaches to healthy cells can no longer reproduce themselv and just died off. Thus preventing autoimmunity where the cells no longer attack the body's own cells. D-mannose is a component found in cranberry juice.

BULGING EYES
02/05/2007: J writes: "My girlfriend's daughter has a serious hyper thyroid case with bulging eyes she had iodine procedure done and recently had surgery. Today she was spitting up blood, we are still waiting to hear back from her as she is in the emergency room. What would you suggest? Thanks J"
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "My personal opinion concerns a case of a horse that had hyperthyroidism and a biopsy performed which turns out to be some sort of fungus which initiated irritation and inflammation and hence causes excess production. The remedy was relieved with an antifungal remedy. In a simple human remedy an application of lavender in the throat area might remotely lessen that sort of irritation which caused the overproduction of thyroxin. Other anti-inflammatory remedies are also possible from dark cocoa, amongst other thing, which is a flavonoid antioxidant also. Although alkalization and perhaps even the use of sodium thiosulfate (dechlorinator) added to drinking water may also have reduce the inflammation. A longer term baking soda and potassium (plus 1/8 teaspoon xylitol to remove the offending organism) might have help. However, that's probably not answering your questions. Basically in a surgical recovery, the best remedies to help this appears to be aloe vera juice, and some vitamin K usually 100 mcg twice a day to help with the clotting, thus reducing spitting of blood. Ted"
