CHILDREN STARTED STUTTERING FOLLOWING AN INFECTION

05/31/2011: Anonymous writes: "I read on your blog in regards to stuttering after pneumonia in a blogger when he was 8. I have two children and one child started stammering and stuttering after an infection in 2006. Another child of mine started stuttering after she came down with a really bad respiratory infection in spring 2010. Both children stutter for months following an infection. I have read about the calcium homeostasis in relation to stuttering and it being affected by infections, do you know more about this? The three genes identified, is this related?"

06/07/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "No, calcium homeostatasis is a minor point. The point is there is viral infection as a result of a bout of infection. If there is genetic explanation for this it is this: immune systems against these form of infection is their weakness. I can get ALS with genetic explanation, but it all boils down to immune system. Therefore in event where stuttering is known, you can take care of this condition in a matter of 1 week to 2 weeks (usually 1 week the longest) by lysine, threonine and some glutamine. It is taken in the usual doses hourly doses for 4 doses and nightly doses for 3 hours. This is continued on for at least 3-4 days. First two days to get it a remission, and the third and fourth day is preventing reinfection. This will get rid of virus and some bacteria that is involved in stuttering. Yes the virus is still alive, in the neural system if they are not then it is typical bacteria in the neural system, although I have not seen that many cases. The lysine dose for adult dose (and you calculated for children's dose based on weight) is 1/2 teaspoon lysine, 1/8 teaspoon of glutamine, 1/3 teaspoon of threonine. This is the minimum that is needed to get a remission, but in case they still have a problem, you can add ascorbic acid and beta glucan on top of it. The ascorbic acid is 1/8 and beta glucan is 1/4 teaspoon but this is given 3 times a day and can be mixed with the lysine, threonine and glutamine, if you want. We based the adult dose for small adult, and weighs about 120 pounds, as basis of beginning calculations. So obviously anyone more than that gets more dose, anyone weighing less than that get less dose. I can't be exact on the dosages, that's the best I can do. The beta glucan will take care of bacteria and virus, and it helps if the person doesn't respond to the usual remedy. There is disinformation regarding beta glucan, in the amount of dosages saying less is more and smaller particle size. The truth is people responds better to large doses and it is dose dependent, ie., the larger doses works better. That's my experience.

I remembered a neurologist who studies PANDAS (pediatric autoimmune disease) which follows strep throat and mycoplasma pneumonia tell me that he sees stuttering in the kids because it surfaces as a tic. He said that the blood brain barrier is open and vitamin D is needed to close it, which is interesting since their vitamin D 25 OH is always low! He told me that he has found through extensive lab testing for ferritan to be low in kids with tics however, average in some kids because it can be thrown into average range because it increases with inflammation so it is falsely normal. Apparently there is a a partial or full genetic mutation for an iron disorder already and the infection eats iron and throws the person into anemia. So I decided to give ferrous glycinate (iron supplement) and within hours the stuttering was decreased 90% I believe that until the virus is gone it eats iron so I added olive leaf extract and monolaurin to keep immune system working against it. I am aware of the aminos below and I am going to add them too!

I am not sure why I did not remember this when spending weeks researching! Thank you!!!"

06/30/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "That's good that stuttering is gone 90% if you have vitamin D3 and ferrous gluconate. Most people don't tolerate and go into anemia that is true. I usually prescribe humic acid taken at 1/8 teaspoon a day to resolve the anemia problem, but ferrous gluconate is one of the best supplement to get iron levels up, but it is the mycoplasma and fungus like bacteria that eats iron, virus don't generally do that. Since a fungus and penetrate deep in the bone marrow and interfere with synthesis of blood. Therefore if anemia is a problem and there is fungus or fungus like bacteria (mycobacterium) I might also use lithium chloride 10%, and give 10 drops before sleep. Autoimmune disease is mostly a fungal issues. But people can have a fungus and a virus too. There's to cases so far that that fungus leads to stuttering and cervical dystonia that had that link. So when you take in iron, because they are low, olive leaf extract and coconut oil (monolaurin) helps, but the cases if I have here, needs portulaca oleracea purslane and some others too.

STUTTERING DISAPPEARS WITH COLD OR FLU - WHY?

05/26/2009: M.A. writes: "Hi Ted,

I wish you really all the best. One simple question : why I don't stutter when I have a cold or flu???? It is really a wonderful experience!!!! Is it because of the vocal cord becoming wet from mucous or what?? I tried to find anything out from the medical literature here and there but to no avail!!!! please advice or help me in the research work.. It is really unbeleivable how I can fluently talk whenever I have a flu or cold?? I'm sure it has something to do with the mucus or the wet stuff in the vocal cord but I COULD NOT SCIENTIFICALLY tie it therewith!! Is there anything else you would like to add regarding stuttering other than the material posted in the stuttering page in earthclinic???

Eagerly awiting your reply...All the best Sir and take care.

05/26/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear M.A:

it is a well known fact that whenever a person has a flu the body tries to raise its body temperature and alkalinity to fight of the flu. Whenever the alkalinity is raised, the solubility of heavy metals do not disturb the neural connections where heavy metals are reduced. It is known that free radical heavy metals are hydrophobic, but are fat soluble, or soluble in fat emulsifiers so the body can rid of them easier. However, certain foods, actually nearly all the foods have lead that exceeds the safety limits anyway, which is one of the heavy metals that worsen them. For example, generally speaking a manufacturer of supplements are required only to produce lead below 10 parts per million, while a good safety level of lead that is considered safe should be below 2 parts per million, for the brain to operate optimally. Therefore a small pinch of disodium EDTA in a drinking water three times a day, will help reduce the buildup, as well as granulated lecithin, which makes heavy metal easier to get rid of. The primary work of the disodium EDTA (which reduces calcium allowing more normal nerve impulses) is to reduce the FREE heavy metals which disturbs the neurological problems.

Certain high aspartic and high glutamic acid are excitotoxins, particularly are found in cheese, dairy products, asparagus, tomatoes, MSG, aspartame, Nutrasweet, sugar free chewing gum and the like. Peppermint tends to disturb neural transmission also. Distribution of potassium and magnesium is up whenever a person has a flu in extracellular fluids and therefore, to neutralize this the most common supplements I have used are magnesium and potassium.

The dose of magnesium (without any calcium) is the magnesium chloride or magnesium gluconate 500 mg which protects heavy metal toxicity that is commonly associated with stuttering. The neurological damages when nerves are transmitted occurs for many reasons, high heavy metals, metabolic acidosis, low body temperature, for example. Whenever a person reports reduce stuttering from the flu, besides the alkalinity the body needs to raise, which is helped with 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda with 1/2 teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate in 1 glass of water twice a day, is that higher body temperature increase circulation allowing neural transmission to operate better because of the increase circulation that occurs duringa flu outbreak. Chlorophyll is considered a porphyrins which tends to reduce damages of neurological damages caused by peroxynitrites, which are found whenever the body has low circulation, low body temperature and low oxygen. During a flu outbreak, you have the opposite, which are high circulation, hogh body temperature, and more breathing, and hence more oxygen. With that, you have less stuttering.

QUESTIONS ABOUT TED'S BAKING SODA AND LIME JUICE REMEDY FOR STUTTERING

09/10/2008: Anonymous writes: "Good day Ted,

I came across your article on stuttering (on earth clinic) while doing an online research on stuttering cure. From my research, I will like to just say a Big THANK YOU, for putting information out there to help people. Your work is really appreciated.

I have been a stutterer all my life, and will define my stuttering as mild, with my case being more on blockage than repetition of words. I am sure you know all to well the negative social effect stuttering can have on the quality of life, simple things that people take for granted is a struggle for me. Simple things for example saying my name is sometime so diffcult for me. I have cried so many time because of this problem.

I am about to start working full time in the oil and gas industry, and I am in DESPERATE need to find a way to overcome this problem. I read about the advice you gave on using Baking soda and lime juice. I will be eternally greatful if I can get more information on how to use the baking soda and lime juice remedy to help me manage my stuttering. How often do I take it, what dosage, side effects.

Thank you so much, and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Have a good day..Thank you again."

09/11/2008: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear Anonymous:

A stuttering is usually helped with baking soda and lime because of its alkalizing potential in causing the neural system to relax. An acidity or excessive stimulation of the neural system can lead to a stuttering condition. Although I have a long list of remedies, the simplest one is the baking soda and lemon. The required dose is 2 tablespoon of lemon juice (or preferably lime juice) plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in at least 1/2 glass of water, but preferably 1 glass of water taken twice or three times a day on an empty stomach, preferably 30 minutes before eating. It takes about 3 weeks for the body to properly alkalized an notice the improving conditions.

Several neural factors and auto intoxication are possible, and other supplements therefore may improve such conditions. However, I prefer to deal with environmental causes that leads to metabolic acidosis, where the brain is most greatly effected. Such as the toxic effects of hydrocarbons (they cause more stuttering from metabolic acidosis), the damaging effect of free heavy metals (most of the water we drink actually has high free heavy metals), and the artificial sugars. These are the common toxins, and hence, chlorophyll and chlorella taken once every three days 250-500 mg for a month for example should clear of heavy metals. Granulated lecithin, Inositol B8, vitamin C, and fish oil helps. The does for granulated lecithin is one tablespoons a day, fish oil are 1000 mg taken once every other day, and vitamin E 200 i.u. taken once every week should help. The dose of vitamin C is 250 mg to 1000 mg taken once every other day, or once every two day usually do. However, most of the help comes from magnesium supplements, such as magnesium chloride or magnesium citrate 250 mg, once a day, with a two day break every week. It is my observations that stuttering may be very much DUE TO excessive tightening of calcium which pulls on the vocal cords and prevent people from saying it properly because it is hard to do.

Therefore magnesium will relax these muscles without excessive pull on the vocal cords. Therefore my new remedy in my opinion requires the addition of magnesium also, besides the other supplements to helps control contraction and relaxation of muscle vocal cords. A proper balance of electrolytes such as taking sea salt, a pinch a day in a drinking water twice a day helps also. It the brain's metabolism is a problem effecting stuttering, then it might be possible that reduction of brain's oxidation using 200 mcg taken on ocassion in the form of selenium yeast may help. Certain anti nutrients such as milk, yogurt, and white eggs should be avoided, and high calcium products such as potatoes and excess sugar may cause the stress hormones to be too high can also lead to stuttering from its tendency to cause unstable blood sugar (usually hypoglycemia). leading to stuttering also.
