QUESTION

[QUESTION]  07/03/2009: R from E, CO: "My almost 4yr old has a stomach ache every day. Its in her upper stomach area, at no particular time of the day. Its not slowing her down any she just complains it hurts. I took her off of milk for a couple days to see if that might help.... took her to the doctor and they want me to put her on a reflux medication to see if that might help. I have yet to get the medication, I dont want to put her on some medication... I asked the doctor about ACV but she said it would make her stomach more upset! But then again the doctor is pushing for the medication. Any helpful hints?! Diet changes? Ted or anyone that will help. Thank you soooo much!!!!"

07/03/2009: kje10959 from Bedford, NH replies: "My daughter also suffered from unexplained stomaches. After a Dr. visit yielded no help I ended up taking her to a chiropractor. Presto!! Her spine was out of alignment and as soon as she was adjusted no more stomachaches. Now when her stomach starts to hurt, off we go to the chiropractor and she's always out of alignment. Quick and painless!! Give it a try. It's a much better alternative than reflux meds!! Good Luck!!"
07/04/2009: Kathy from Nevada, nv replies: "Perhaps you can get her to have about 2 oz. of aloe vera after each meal. That helped me with acid reflux."
07/04/2009: Becky from Rockford, Michigan replies: "Could it be allergies? My daughter used to have a stomach ache every morning because of the mucus that was draining down the back of her throat all night due to allergies. Once we controlled the allergies, the stomach problems went away. Just a thought!"
07/16/2009: R from E, CO replies: "what did you do to controll allergies? thank you!"
07/16/2009: R from E, CO replies: "is it aloe juice?"
07/17/2009: Kathy from Nevada, NV replies: "This is what I do: I take a leaf of aloe vera and I freeze it then when it's firm I cut about 3 inches off. I cut the off the needles and the green covering. Then I simply cut up the aloe in very small pieces and put 4 or 5 in a cup of water and drink the whole thing down. Your child may not like the taste so I don't see a problem with mixing it with something like apple juice. With the rest of the cut up aloe I put it in a rubbermaid container in the fridge and just drink a 1/4 cup after every meal or just some at night before bed. Just freeze the whole aloe leaf in a baggie it will keep for a long time! PS as far as the apple cider goes....my niece is 8 and has been requesting it ever since she first tasted it! She loves it. I add a pinch of baking soda and honey and ACV to warm water....for a 4 year old I would use 1/2 tsp of ACV. We have not stomach problems for a long time!"
01/13/2010: Lisa from Socal, Ca replies: "My daughter was getting stomach aches almost every day as well. The doctor did a Food Intolerance test for her and found she was intolerant to: Milk, broccoli, peanut butter ( not allergy), Oats and barley. When we took these items out of her diet, most of her stomach aches went away. She still gets one once in a while when she knowingly "cheats".

The Food intolerance tests are NOT 100 % accurate, but it will point you in the right direction. Or you can do a food elimination diet to find out which foods "don't agree" with you."

[YEA]  07/27/2009: Don from Southwest, Michigan: "Stomach Pain and/or Gas

Strawberries.

For any kind of stomach ache, gas pain, heart burn or stomach upset of any kind, I eat 4-6 frozen strawberries and the discomfort is gone instantly. This remedy has worked 100% of the time for me for many years. It has also worked 100% of the time for everyone I have told. My mother is 89 and takes several medications and supplements and sometimes gets terrible stomach pains and gas. She ate 5 frozen strawberries and by the time she ate the last one her pain and gas had disappeared. She is a devout skeptic and was amazed at the results.

I have tried this with many different varieties of strawberries and they all work. My favorite here in southwest Michigan is called Early Glow and we freeze about 60 qt. every year. Just hull the "caps", rinse in water, let drain in a colander and put into whatever size plastic freezer bag you prefer. Even if they are out of season in your area and you have to pay a higher price at a super market, get at least one qt. to keep in the freezer. When you get a stomach ache eat 4-6 of them and your pain should disappear.

I hope this helps you stop wasting money on expensive, super hyped, over the counter upset stomach chemicals that in my opinion just do not work and always made me feel worse.

Best Wishes For A Peaceful Future
Don"

[YEA]  11/13/2007: Laura from New Plymouth, Idaho: "I have good results for my stomach pain with tumeric. But I read on one entry that tumeric would stop bleeding of a wound, quite quickly. So I'm wondering if taking tumeric would be counterproductive for me - not for the stomach - but because I'm on a blood thinner since I have a stent in my heart as of last January. Anyone have information on this? "

06/04/2011: Andrea C from Cardiff, Wales replies: "Hi laura x my aunt has a stent in her heart and drinks cranberry juice the hospital dr stopped her blood thinner drug as cranberry juice is a natural blood thinner and it not 2 b taken with blood thinners as it will thin the blood way too much! Shes doing fine with the cranberry juice and drinks the ordinary store cartons. But a better option is pure organic cran juice from a health shop. Just add 2 teaspoons 3 tjmes a day in the cleanest water u can get 6 to 8 fluid ounces of water and drink. Hope thjs helps u love andrea c x x x"
