HOW TO LIGHTEN SKIN NATURALLY AND PREFERABLY FROM INTERNALLY?
06/14/2011: Nizam from Mumbai, India writes: "Dear Ted
I am really keen to know how to lighten the skin color from within? Which chemicals, vitamins and minerals lighten the skin when taken internally? Also any external applications help to lighten the skin color?
In countries where light skin colour is considered as beautiful some woman are going to extremes using corticosteroids like mixing Betnovete cream with 2% Hydroquioine which is really working like magic but with many health hazards.
So I would like to enlighten them with the natural and safe methods if there any? So can you please give the reply at your earliest convenience Ted. Thanks in advance."
06/20/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Nizam, a lot of different features as considered beautiful but that shouldn't mean that we have to chase after them? Here we all try to go in the sun in the summer as a tanned skin is considered a healthy look. So, there you go, somewhere a light skin is the way to go, somewhere else a dark skin is more appealing. You can't please them all so why try? They often say that men prefer the blonds but.... Just look around you, at all the dark haired beauties? They are not all going to dye their hair blond, are they? Why are not accept yourself as you are and make the most of your most attractive features instead of trying to change something like your skin color? I always feel sad when I come across women here trying to change their skin color! Be happy if you have a healthy skin..... I haven't and I would love to have one, no matter the skin tone!"
11/06/2011: P M from Tyrone, Pa replies: "I would recommend learning how to lighten your skin using natural methods. There are guides and information all over the internet.Using chemicals is being exposed as more and more dangerous, and in fact some chemicals used in skin bleaching creams are being banned in countries throughout the world."
11/09/2011: Jen from Bozeman, Mt, Us replies: "I don't know if this will work for everyone's skin but I have recently tried turmeric mask's to lighten my freckles and my melasma (pregnancy skin darkening). I love what it has done for both my freckles and the melasma. My face looks so radient and clear. It can be a little bit of a pain to get rid of the yellow tint to your skin from the turmeric though. I usually just take about a teaspoon in my hand and add enough water to make a paste. Then I rub it on my face until it covers everything. I leave it for about 5 to 10 minutes. Then I rinse it off in the shower and apply a vit C scrub to my face. I usually rub it in for a minute or two. Then I apply some apple cider vinegar with a cotton ball. I let that sit on my face until it dries. I rinse my face one more time. I try to do this at least every other day.I saw results the first use. I have done it about 5 times now and it gets better each time. I am very pleased with the results. I have very fair skin to start though and even my freckles are not too dark they are just a light tan. I am so happy I read about turmeric mask's on EC. The apple cidar works wonders for wrinkles and acne. It's like retonol A but better cause it's all natural."

FATHER WITH THINNING SKIN
01/06/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand writes: "My father is in his early 60s and has been having trouble with his thinning skin. In example, he woke up the other morning with purple marks on his jaw where he thinks he might have slept on his hands. He has to wear long sleeves to keep from getting his arms cut or scraped while he works outside. Is there anything he can take internally or externally for thinning of skin? Thanks."
01/18/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "I had a much younger case of a woman who was 26 years of age having the same skin thinning problems. The woman has since been cured. The remedy that was used was vitamin D2 20,000 i.u. taken for about a month, along with 500 mg of magnesium citrate, vitamin C sodium ascorbate 500 mg, vitamin B5 panthothenic acid, and B8. Sodium silicate solution given in drops or just horsetail may help increase the silicon levels to enable thickness. The alkalization gives skin greater hydration, and that's 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of potassium citrate taken twice a day in 1/2 glass of water. Most of the effects of skin improvement will be noticed from vitamin C and vitamin D2. The other further improves on skin appearance and hydration. Please note that vitamin D2 20,000 i.u. is relatively hard to obtain in some countries, but are relatively easy in other countries.Ted"

QUESTIONS ABOUT REMEDIES FOR SKIN
01/05/2009: Anna from London, UK writes: "
Please clarify all this fr me someone!
Also, I am skinny and perfectly proportioned.. I have high metabolism so I don't gain weight..at all..no matter how much I eat! Does anyone have any suggestions? I want to gain a little weight.. I've been like this all my life and am tired of this!!!! I wanna gain SIZE proportionately not just on my belly or something..!!"
01/14/2009: Teri from Up North, Indiana replies: "I think the general consensus with apple cider vinegar tablets is that they don't work. Anyway, if you are wanting to use Ted's drink remedy using apple cider vinegar plus baking soda, you'll need to use the liquid form, and make a drink. You mention the skin -Sometimes I apply a little liquid ACV to my face, but it can make your eyes water, so maybe diluting it a bit will be good to start with - it leaves my skin very soft afterwards. It also works nicely as a deodorant. I've also used baking soda on my face and/or body, and I like that too - just put a bit of powder in my hand and added water, then rubbed it on. But, it can be very drying to me, so keep that in mind. I'd definitely recommend diluting the tea tree oil - it's strong. I love it as a natural deodorant as well (watered down). Hope that helps . . ."
02/22/2009: Jean from Franklin, WI replies: "I've been using baking soda for years to wash my face, and people tell me I look like I'm in my mid-40's... I'm 57. I use it once every week or two in the shower, depending on how my skin is feeling. Make a paste of baking soda and water, and scrub your face with it. Don't leave it on your skin for long (more than a few minutes) or it will begin burning. Just do a quick exfoliant of your face with it and rinse off. It removes the old dead skin very nicely and alkalizes the skin, leaving your skin smooth and soft. I then use a moisturizer or oil if it feels too dry."

GRANULOMA ANNULARE REMEDIES NEEDED
10/18/2008: C from PD, USA writes: "Granuloma Annulare: Does anyone know a cure for this???"
01/23/2010: Bernie from Reading, Pa replies: "Yes, I've had Granulaoma Annulare for 7 years now.. Doctors kept telling me I had ring worm. Finally I found what I had on the internet. I printed an article with pictures but the doctors disagreed. He finally agreed to biopsy the areas and guess what. Granuloma Annulare. He congratulated me on my diagnosis and charged me 100 bucks. He offered no cure or medicine to help. I am thinking I have a vitamin deficiency. Guess that will be my next 100 bucks, looking for vitamin deficiencies with a blood test."
02/20/2010: Squirrel from St. Paul, Mn replies: "I've had granuloma annular for about 7 years now. I found that by taking vitamin d and calcium and magnesium supplements my skin lesions disappear. I think it has to do with the magnesium and or calcium. When I was tested for my vitamin d levels they were found to be low. The type of calcium / magnesium supplement I'm using is called Intracal. You can find it online. I take about 2000-4000 IU of vitamin d daily."
12/29/2009: Haunting Hands from Providence, Ri replies: "Granuloma continues to be an ugly problem on my hands. I have tried cortisone shots in the patches, uva, uvb light therapy, lotions, salves, etc. Nothing works. Has anyone come up with a solution for this nagging problem? I've had it for about 9 years and it continues to spread. I'm told most people it resolves in a couple of years but mine is only getting worse! Please, anybody have any ideas???"

REMEDIES FOR MILIA
09/15/2008: Kathy from Alhambra, Ca writes: "Milia are deep seeded white bumps that form when facial skin cells and sebaceous matter become trapped rather than exfoliate naturally. I am getting more as I age and nothings seems to work. Anybody have and success with getting rid of them???"
03/01/2009: Ann from Manitowoc, WI replies: "Though I know this is not recommended by dermatologists, it has always worked for me. I tend to get Milia near my cheek bones. Here's what I do...Warm the spot with a hot washcloth. Then take a sterile fine-point needle (the kind you sew with) and poke it gently into the raised white bump several times. If it hurts you're probably poking too deeply. After poking it numerous times I have had success with either squeezing out the white bump or picking it out with the needle. Other than a tiny red mark for a day or too, I have never had a problem doing this."

REMEDY FOR ICTHOSIS
06/20/2008: Marie writes: "Hello Earthclinc, I am suffering from a skin condition called icthosis. I have had this all my life(25 years). My skin just sheds all the time. I have posted a personal email to Ted and hasn't heard yet. Any remedy or suggestion by anyone is greatly appreciated. Thanks."
06/21/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "Hi Marie, Don't really have any answers for you but in searching for some, I found a site redshedsoap@yahoo.com run by a family named Hilliard whose son has it. She says a soy based soad has her son looking normal now although he still has condition. I do have a question in mind - Wonder if taking 6 tablespoons of lecithin daily might make a difference? I have done this in past with no problems, but I was getting rid of fatty lipomas. I can vouch for it not harming you. Also this was Adele Davis' recommendation for psoriasis, who thought psoriasis was a defect in fat metabolism which gave me the idea for trying it for my problem. If you like eating cornbread in buttermilk (which I do) just put your lecithin granules in a glass of buttermilk and enjoy - tastes very similar."

DARK PATCHES OF SKIN ON NECK
05/27/2008: Jeh from Dubai, UAE writes: "Hi Readers. The skin on my neck has turned excessively dark due to frequent shaving (in the wrong manner). Any home tips to get rid of it? Cheers!"
03/26/2009: Nicole from Laguna Niguel, California replies: "Hi, I am repliying about the dark skin in the back of your neck it is not caused by shaving. Dark skin patches around the neck are caused by insulin resistance, I would contact your doctor immediately because you might be pre-diabetic!!!! Losing weight is a good way to reduce the dark skin and try not eating sugary or fatty foods; they will raise you blood sugar! Also try exfoliating you neck every day and squeeze lemon juice on the area and leave it on for about 15 to 20 minutes."

SKIN ELASTICITY
11/01/2007: "I am 55 yrs. and my skin has lost a lot of it's elasticity. My skin feels very soft to the touch and I am always asked the question why my skin is so soft. I weigh about 130 and 5' 1. Is there any vitamins I Can Take."
Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Generally, the skin's collagen production is reduced as a result of aging. But this is hardly a good answer because it begs the question that there is nothing we can do about it. What I can say is aging is influenced by lowered hormonal productions, vitamin D, and glycation. A glycation is the body's sugar and protein gets cross linked causing the skin cells to loose its elasticity. The easiest remedy to restore some elasticity that I know of is to take plenty of L-Carnosine, such as 1000 mg a day, plus some dimethyaminoethanol (DMAE). The L-carnosine reverses the effect ot skin aging and cellular aging in tissue culture and extends the cellular Hayflick limit, which means that the cells can divide only up to a point and dies of old age. Hence, I have found L-Carnosine to be useful in restoring some of those elasticity. Increasing some hormonal supplements, such as 12 mg once every other day for DHEA can restore some of that too, but it has its greatest effect on reduction in stress. People respond to DHEA a bit differently so if the DHEA is taken, the body should have a sufficient vitamin E and alkalization using the 2 tablespoon of lemon plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in at least 1/2 glass of water twice a day. The alkalization in this form becomes a citrate which reduces calcification of tissue restoring some cellulr elasticity. A granulated lecithin (phosphatidyl choline) and some PS (phosphatidyl serine) will restore some cellular imbalance of elasticity using those supplements too. A vitamin B5 of 500 mg and B8 of similar amount can also raise body's collagen production, but should also be synergistic with vitamin C sodium ascorbate too. Sometimes washing the body in vinegar, such as the hands, arms and face can reduce some calcification, thus restoring some of those elasticity too. Finally certain supplements which causes the body to produce hormones, would be L Glycine, L Glutamine and vitamin B3 niacinamide are some of the other supplements that may aid the skin to be less soft and more elastic. A way to cause the skin to be less soft and somewhat more thicker based on my observation of a lady who was in her 70s was a vitamin D3 supplementation of 10,000 to 20,000 i.u. a day for a month along with some magnesium supplements. The vitamin D, also not just cause the skin to thicken and less soft, but also causes the muscles, especially the leg to become larger. Apparently there is something more to vitamin D3 or D4 than just bones, rickets and osteoporosis.Ted"
