[SIDE EFFECTS]  Molly from Longview, TX writes: "Wanted to let you know I had a similar icecream/sinus infection incident. We rarely get ice cream, maybe twice a year or so tops. This time it was Dreyers Rocky Road and I came down with a sinus infection within 48 hours of eating a coffee cup full."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  Anne Marie from New Milford writes: "My step father's birthday was a few days ago and I ate a baskin robbins cake and for the first time in my life I got a sinus infection and I don't have money to go to the doctors. To find that some ice creams are poison to the body makes me really mad."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  Wayne from Lakeland, FL writes: "I was sooo relieved to read your article. I have had serious sinus infections for years. I have trouble getting rid of them, and I have been to many doctors including specialists. A few years ago I noticed a connection with ice cream. The doctors said it was a coincidence? It isn't. I have run several tests and it IS caused by ice cream. In my case, any brand. I am also a professional singer, and I have mucous problems that make it very difficult to sing. I hope the information you have here helps me."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  Katy from Plymouth writes: "Well, this is too weird. I have been searching online this whole weekend for a cure to my sudden and extreme pain in my head, teeth and sinuses, and I am shocked to read this since it started minutes after eating a large bowl of a premium store ice cream. Now I can't eat at all since my teeth hurt so badly, especially on one side into my ear. My head hurts and although I do not have a stuffy nose, I can tell that it is sinus related since when I lay down the pain increases, especially in particular positions. I have had sinus headaches and infections before due to allergies, but nothing like this!! No more ice cream for me when my seasonal allergies start!"

[SIDE EFFECTS]  Wendy writes: "Hi, I Live in Westchester County, NY. The pollen count is always very high from April to October. Aside from allergy season, I have found - through my personal experiences - that all dairy products consumed do cause a number of mucous producing problems. Eat a couple scoops of any ice cream and you're going to wake up the next day with a mucous overgrowth either in your sinuses, lungs or throat. Dairy is not good for adults to consume, period. FYI - I stopped using dairy in my diet 2 years ago because of the mucous build-up and sinus infections, and not only have I lost over 60 lbs, but I no longer have that thick, greenish-yellow mucous to look forward to after eating an ice cream cone!"

[SIDE EFFECTS]  Kamala from Hampsire writes: "I have suffered severe sinusitis attacks for a number of years particularly after the birth of my second child. i have sometimes wondered whether eating desserts with custard have caused some of the terrible attacks I have suffered. Now that I have read about some of the ice-cream related problems by others I feel that there must be a link. On many an occasion I have woken up with pain around my eyes following an evening on which I have eaten custard. I am definitely going to try the apple cider vinegar treatment."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  Anonymous from St. Louis, MS writes: "I started drinking milk shakes one time as a possible alternative to beer and sodas. I had quit drinking but needed and craved a high dose of sugar. Not to long afterwards, I developed a sinus infection afterwards and since have had nasal polyps since."

[SIDE EFFECTS]  Kay from New Port Richey writes: "Am sure my family's (many farmers) consumption of milk and other dairy products has been responsible for not only sinus infections of which some were only thwarted by goldenseal/cayenne capsules but also my inertia and whole lack of interest in school subjects, doing homework, etc. If I had known then what I know now, I would have dropped off milk products years ago. I still have a dish of ice cream once in a while, with consequences, and grilled cheese sandwiches which do not seem to have as much effect on me. My younger daughter once told a group who was discussing one of the ladies sons who was not doing well in school, and the mother doubted that milk might have something to do with it, that "If you give my Mother a glass of milk, you had better have a bed ready for her in about half an hour". I wish we could get the schools to quit promoting the consumption of milk in their cafeterias."

10/03/2011: Kamila from Canon City, Co replies: "Hi. I think you guys are up to something. I went for a walk with my kids and stopped at Coldstone Creamery. I walked with a stroller so I worked hard to get my 150 lb of kids, stroller and pumpkins back home but on the way back I realized one of my nostrils is stuck. Long story short within the next 3 hours both of my nostrils became completely obstructed and I developed fever and extreme fatigue. I did not want to move. I also had Mexican shredded cheese on my tortilla and also on pasta couple hours before the walk. I think all that dairy did me in. I tend to have no problem with milk, sour cream and coconut icecream. I buy organic whenever they have it.

It took a lot of ACV, cayenne pepper, honey, humidifier, neti pot with salt and lots of baking soda to get this outta me. The frontal sinuses headache was intense. Nothing was moving for about 3 days, now I'm much better but I slept within 10 in. from a humidifier turned on HIGH. No more ice cream for me, darn it. I love it so much!"
