04/29/2010: Pillowofwinds from East Islip, Ny: "I can only tell you that this worked for me. I had 3 painful sinus infections within a six month period, all treated with antibiotics. Sometimes the pains in my head were so painful I actually cried. When I got the fourth infection, I started to read about natural cures, that is how I found this wonderful site. As soon as I felt the infection coming on, I took 2 cloves of garlic and chopped them up. I added that to a coffee cup full of tomato juice and added some fresh squeezed lemon and cayenne pepper. I repeated this twice the first day, once after breakfast and once later in the evening. The next day I only had to do it in the morning. It may not be appetizing, but you can drink it down quickly. It was like an instant cure. I have not gotten another sinus infection since. (I started getting them when I began working in an office full time that used to be a gym...I believe there was mold there.) Every time I have felt something sinus/throat related coming on, I use fresh garlic, usually on a slice of pizza to make it appetizing, and I don't get sick."

[YEA]  05/16/2006: Andrew from Edina, MN: "I was extremely skeptical about this since I have been suffering from a chronic sinus infection for over 2 months. I had in the past taken multiple doses of antibiotics with only moderate results. My health plan recently changed, so I figured I would give this a try before paying much more to go to the doctors. I picked up the ingredients, and tried Tabasco sauce as the hot sauce. I warmed it in the microwave for 1 minute. It smelled absolutely terrible, and the taste was not great. I could stomach it, but it was like taking shots of alcohol... you had to take a deep breath and slam as much as possible and hold it down. I didn't even finish the whole thing, but I finished 80% of it. Within an hour, and still, hours later, my sinuses are clearing up! My throat is sore from all the draining, but this cure definitely worked! I will try a second round tonight. Despite the terrible smell, and slightly less terrible taste, it was well worth it to finally get this cleared up, and for only $8 worth of ingredients! Thanks for the recipe!"

[YEA]  02/11/2009: Brooke from Eugene, Or: "Tumeric for Sinus Infection: I am a big fan of turmeric and take it daily for my Crohn's Disease. I've recently had a cold that turned into a sinus infection. I try really hard to stay away from antibiotics because it kills the good bacteria in the gut. I put 1-2 tsp of turmeric in a bowl and poured almost boiling water over in. I then set the bowl in my lap and put a towel over my head. Breath (over the bowl with the towel over my head) in through my nose and out through my mouth for 10-15 minutes 6 times during through out the day. The next morning I woke up blowing the infection out of my nose. It was super gross. I continued the same thing the following day. I also drank lots of fluids and got plenty of rest."

[YEA]  04/04/2007: Charles from Fostoria, OH: "I got rid of a very long and aggravating sinus infection (w/blood specks etc.) by using a product called UNPETROLEUM JELLY...blow and clean your nose, then apply a small amount to a cotton swab and insert gently into the nostril and rotate around the inside so the entire inside is coated, as high as you can go(be very gentle); repeat for the other nostril. Apply morning and bedtime. It took about a week but I've been infection free ever since and I now do this daily."

[YEA]  Charlene from Ontario, Canada: "I suffered for years with sinus infections. My last sinus infection lasted an entire year. I read a book called: "Your Body's Many Cries for Water" written by a doctor. I began drinking at least 2 liters of water a day, and have not had ANY form of a cold or sinus infection since. An added bonus, I have lost weight without even counting calories."

BETTER BUT NOT CURED (1)

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  03/01/2010: Eric from Zurich, Switzerland: "Okay this all started about 2 years ago. I had a very painful sinus infection that eventually dried up and left pressure in my sinuses but after a while I hardly noticed it. Then After almost 2 years of being pain free it started again but this time it was different. It started & the pressure that was there went away but my sinuses won't stop draining. it's horrible. however, I found relief using white grape Vinegar. I put it in a sauce pan and boiled it (smell is awful)and then I inhale it through my nostrils. work's almost instantly. Burns a little but its re-leaving at the same time. Do it twice a day for the first 3 days and once a day aftawards and you should be okay.

I just don't like doing it after day 2 but I think If I keep at it I could be looking at a total cure if I could just stick to the regiment.

Also: swallowing a shallow capfull instantly relieves any throat pains.

I think the biggest problem for me is inhaling when my nose for the most part is clear by day 3 since this stuff smells so bad. But I must say after day 2 I had no sinus problems until day 3 late at night. then i did it again and the next day I was cured for two days.

now its back but nothing like before. I think if I sniff this disgusting smelling stuff maybe 4 more times in a row (once in the morning and again at night before bed for the next two days) I could be looking at a cure. "

Wild Indigo Extract

[YEA]  Meth from Los Angeles: "I also have a question besides sharing my experience with the Wild Indigo herbal extract from Eclectic Institute. I have used it for the last two years, and it works better than the Grape Seed Extract (GSE) for me. I take 15-20 drops along with 10-12 drops of Echinacea/Golden Seal extract 3 times per day for 10-14 days. However, if you are a first-time user of Wild Indigo, start at a low dose of 5 drops and then increase it, otherwise you may vomit as I did on the second day when I first used it and I started at a high dose. I typically see definite improvement in my symptoms in 4-5 days. This remedy, however, treats the bacterial infection of sinus, not any fungal problem or the underlying cause.

My sinus problem started 3-4 years ago, and it has become a chronic problem. One easy way for me now to get sinusitis is to get exposed to a cold air draft such as the air conditioner in a car or indoor. I do suffer from hay fever, but I have had that for the last three decades without suffering from sinusitis until a few years ago.

And my question is: Has any of your website visitors had this kind of chronic sinus problem--from exposure to cold air, rather than eating ice creams or allergies? And have they found a reliable remedy for it, and do they know what causes it? When exposed to the cold draft, soon my nose clogs up and the blow of the cold air feels like a hammer pounding on my forehead. Incidentally, I am going to try your homeopathic sinus remedy #7 on your website, but Dolisos has been bought out by Boiron which has decided to discontinue the Aspergillis remedies and thus they are no longer available. However, I got lucky by calling the Santa Monica Homeopathic Pharmacy in Santa Monica, California and they found a homeopathic manufacturing company named National which makes that remedy. I am waiting for my special order to arrive, and it will take several months before I could judge whether or not it works for me.

Lastly, here is a website which provides some useful medical information from an MD on chronic sinusitis www.sinuses.com/fungal.htm. I would appreciate any practical information you may provide regarding this kind of sinus problem which you may have received from other sufferers. Also thank you for your informative website, and good luck."

Xylitol and Sea Salt Sinus Rinse, Spirulina

[YEA]  05/08/2011: Allorganic from Tampa Bay, Fl: "I thought I would share some very good information and my experience regarding sinus infections or sinusitis.

I had been diagnosed with severe sinusitis after I had an MRI for something else. I've tried many things over the years and had suffered constant congestion/swelling and loss of taste and smell.

The neti pot was helping with salt, but I discovered some huge results after much research. Using DISTILLED water, not spring water in the neti pot with a half teaspoon of all natural sea salt and a half tablespoon of Xylitol. Both disolved in warm distilled water. Spring water can irritate the sinus membranes. Xylitol has been proven to kill and fight bacteria and really helps flush out mucus!

After flushing my sinuses with this sea salt/Xylitol neti pot mix, I then drink a glass of my favorite juice with my Spirulina Powder that has CHLOROPHYLL. Chlorophyll also is great for killing bacteria in the sinuses. As soon as I drink a glass of this, my sense of taste and smell come back within a half hour at 100%!

The powder I have been using is expensive and I don't feel everyone has to buy this exact brand, only the ingredients are important. The brand I've tried is contains: Spirulina Powder, Beta-Carotene, B-1, B-2, B-12, Calcium, Iron, Gamma Linolenic Acid and Chlorophyll.

If I do those two things as much as possible, I never have infections. There is also a saline/Xylitol spray. Anyone with sinusitis or chronic issues should really try these two things!"

05/30/2011: Mary from California, U.s. replies: "Hi to Francisca, I just ordered this product from Amazon called Breathe EaseXL. I haven't used it yet but it has xylitol in a saline mix without preservatives. I will paste the link below:

05/31/2011: Francisca from Michelbach-le-bas, Alsace, France replies: "Thanks Mary but I don't have the nasal irrigator. We have just had friends over from the US and I could have asked them to try to find the Xylitol nasal spray for me. Funny they don't sell it here in Europe, at least I have never managed to find it but thanks for the tip anyway."
05/31/2011: Bess from Calgary, Alberta, Canada replies: "If you can find xylitol, there are a number of recipes available on the Internet to make your own spray (ingredients: water, sea salt and xylitol). Xylitol from birch trees originated in Finland (which might help you find a source in Europe) but there are other types out there - mostly from corn. Whether they use genetically modified corn is another story! The xylitol spray here in the health food store is quite expensive - $15 for a small bottle. It would be much more cost-effective to make your own and, besides, you know which type of xylitol is being used. I would imagine most sprays use the cheaper stuff made from corn. Good luck."
04/27/2012: "Halitosis from chronic sinusitis take me off balance, people are giving me that weird look, avoiding me if they can and is a very great source of embarrassment and a zero self esteem.... I'm so desperate.. I've tried antibiotics, nasal sparays but it keeps coming back like plague..."
