[YEA] Kate from Maidenhead, Berkshire, England writes: "I've had an itchy scalp for over a year, lost over 3/4 of my hair. I've been through all the meds the recommendations offered by everyone, don't think there is anything I haven't tried.

Well anyhow, this is what worked for me and it may or may not work for you: In a plastic container add a quarter teaspoon of tincture of iodine (the brown liquid) and about a quarter cup of warm water, mix. Daily during your shower, wash hair with cool water without any shampoo or conditioner, then apply this mixture as a final rinse, whilst ensuring none of it gets in to the eyes. Immediately wrap a clean towel to the hair. Leave hair to dry naturally and before you know the hair feels softer and manageable - the plus factor 'No Itching".... Hurrah! I also use this mixture for my final rinse after my weekly shampoo and conditioner application. Initally I used this mixture for 4 days, had a break for a couple of days, the itching returned with a vengence. Good luck. Kate

Helen from Austin, Tx, Usa writes: "My scalp has a very thick rough skin or crust plus bumps, sores. It is not red, does not itch nor does the crust flake off unless I pick (dig) it off (very hard to get off and bleeds when I do get it off, then comes right back. Derm says its not psoriasis. Might be folliculitis, but I took two months of antibiotics and it didn't work. Since it doesn't itch or flake, don't think it's dandruff or seborrheaic dermatitis or eczema. I have tried mixing the borax with apple cider vinegar, leaving it on for 30 minutes, then rinsing with the vinegar, leaving on coconut oil overnight, leaving on neem oil overnight, tamanu oil, tea tree oil, glycerin. I have tried each of these for 2 months before going on to the next. Nothing has worked. Any ideas about what it is and what to do?

[YEA] Vita Jean from Washington, Dc writes: "For 16 years, I've suffered from a scalp condition that includes symptoms like flare ups, inflammation, unbearable soreness, flaking, postules, hair bumps, hair loss, etc. I used straight raw apple cider vinegar to get rid of bacteria and yeast on my scalp. Then, I recently bought an aloe vera plant from a local hardware store. I've been splitting open the leaves and massaging my whole scalp with the gel mornings and especially nights. I just leave it on. It's a miracle. Not only is the aloe soothing, but it has dried/cleared up just about everything going on with my scalp! My hair also feels soft and moisturized.

[YEA] Faithy from Worcester, Ma writes: "I cannot believe this works! I stopped after work to pick up the ingredients - put it on my head last night, did not rinse out and the itching stopped, I didn't scratch at all. I had at least 12 red spots on my head from scratching the scabs and at least two raised welts, welts are gone, scalp is dry, a little red but nothing like before - repeated in shower this morning, and rinsed out - no itching at all! I did order the teatree oil with lavender on amazon - they do have a combo, for around $7.00. I am going to use this overnight when I receive. Thank you so much TED!!!! You literally saved my life. I have short dark hair, and this was becoming a problem as I could not stop scratching. Thank you so much! Question, how long should I use the mixture, as I have some scabs left?

[YEA] Keri from Raleigh, Ny/nc writes: "Ted, I was wondering if I still or can use shampoo and conditioner before or after this remedy? I am a black female from the Caribbean with course hair that usually needs to be conditioned and moisturized so that it won't get dry and break and be hard to comb. My scalp just started itching me severely about 3 years ago when I went from being natural to getting a relaxer again. Therefore, I will be trying this ACV remedy soon but will be putting the undiluted ACV on my scalp 1st to see if it gives me instant relief. Please advise, and if yes in what precise order to shampoo and condition? Also, could I use both the borax and the ACV mixture right after each other?

Dolphins7 from Youngstown, Ohio, United States writes: "I have been having Scalp issues for about 4 years. It started out with a cyst, but when that reduced bumps/pimples appeared near the base (so inbetween mid scalp and base). They eventually spread and went up the middle part of my scalp.

This problem has driven me crazy.. Through the years I have found techniques to help.. Sulfur 8 has helped clear up all the bumps that spread up my head... Whats left is what I began with. I feel like this area near the base is where I need to target. This area is also the most stubborn, ACV and Peroxide help on and off. Borax suprisingly helped a bunch, but the same 4 pop up in the same spot after awhile... I am a African American Male, I have cornrows (braided hair/long). I have a waterbed, and 2 Dogs (cocker Spaniels) I want to give you guys all the information I can give you. Again if anyone is having this issue try Sulfur 8.

I think the lower bumps/pimples do not clear because the fungus/bacteria is deeper in that region. I can get the inflimation down or even some to dissapear but when I wake up in the morning some will sprout up. Thank God for EarthClinic.. Can anybody help me? Do I need to continue to be diligent with the Apple Cider Vinegar and peroxide? Shampoo with Baking soda and borax? I have Tea tree but no lavender oil, is tea tree good alone? It has caused some slight hair loss at the base area I truly believe Im at the end of the race I just need some advice.. Some support. I stopped eating meat and im trying to alkalize.. Should I take supplements?

Brooke from Montgomery, Tx, Usa writes: "I have had problems with my hair on and off for approx 20 years and I have just recently gotten it under control. I have started taking a formula made with Lactated Pepsin, Black Snake Root Extract, Essence of Wild Ginseng, Atomic Iodine, Extract of Liver, and Grain Alcohol. You can look that up and get it! I also use Pennsylvania crude oil and Vaseline on my scalp; I rub it in and then I use a small vibrator with a cup attachment for 20-30 minutes. I use this approx 3x a month. I also use Listerine on my scalp after I wash my hair, which I wash with an Olive Oil based shampoo and conditioner. I use Listerine about 1x per month. However, it will not hurt you to use it more! When I haven't drank any alcohol, I use the "Violet Ray" machine on my scalp for 2-3 minutes whenever I feel the need to use it. It may sound like a lot, and maybe it is, but I have done it for so long, it is second nature, the only thing I added recently was the formula."

Debby from Portland, Oregon writes: "I am a 52 year old female and have been having scalp problems for over a year. It started out bright red and itchy and has resulted in hair loss and actual quarter size bald spots. My dermatologist initially said it was a staph infection, after doing a biopsy. He has had me on different antibiotics and anti fungals as well as steroid shots for overall inflammation and cortisone spray directly on my scalp for about a year. It has improved some, but the bald spots remain and there are crusty infected looking areas that appear swollen that just won't go away and he says if we don't get them under control I will lose more hair. There is some hair growth in the bald areas, but it is really bristly and has two or three hairs growing out of the same follicle. My dermatologist has labeled it unspecified alopecia and is now suggesting low dose chemo - that sounds pretty scary to me but, I don't know what else to do. I tried coconut, tea tree and other oils on my scalp and that made it more inflamed. I did try ACV briefly, but didn't notice a difference. I'm sure all of these antibiotics and steroids can't be doing my body much good. Any ideas would be most appreciated. Thank you. Debby"

Ali from Sumter, Sc writes: "I'm searching for an exact measurement of a solution to cure my scalp infection/odor. It started after leaving coconut oil on my scalp overnight which seemed to have fueled a fungus that may have already been present. I've cut sugar and fruit to almost non-existent in my diet. An exact measurement of a solution to cure this scalp odor, itching, redness, and hairloss is needed. Hairloss is an overall even thinning. If you could include how much water(not "parts"), how often to apply, how long and how often to leave on scalp, and exactly how to apply (I have long curly hair) would be greatly appreciated.
[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Diane from Ottumwa, Ia writes: "Here is what worked for my itchy scabs on my scalp, Colloidal Silver. I made a 20% concentration. It knocked one of the scabs out in three days. The other scab near my neckline did not respond to Colloidal Silver, but has responded to a modification of Ted's Remedy. I took about 8oz. Of Ted's Hydrogen Peroxide, Vinegar, Water Mixture and added about a teaspoon of Epsom salts and a teaspoon of Borax to it to make a heavily saturated solution. I applied it numerous times per day with a cotton ball. It's gradually getting smaller and in about two more days should be gone. I can't tell you all the stuff I tried that did not work, the list would be too long. I figured the Borax would be good if it was a mite, the epsom salts, vinegar and peroxide would be good if it was bacterial or fungal in nature. I tried every anti-fungal and every anti-bacterial in the natural world and every over-the-counter remedy I could think of. By the way, Vicks is a nightmare to get out of your hair and should never be tried. Hope this helps someone. I agree with the posters who say this is from a cat or kitten. Never had any skin/scalp infections until we took in a cat.

Mrsinghnyc from New York City, New York, Usa writes: "I would first like to say how wonderful of a website it is and it really helps people out. God bless you for all your work.

The reason I am writing to you is because I have a scalp problem with alot of symptoms that I was hoping you could help me with. I am a 24 year old male who has been losing hair for the past 6 or 7 years slowly. I am losing my hair on top of the head faster than on the side. I've lost about 90% of my hair on top. My scalp also has dry skin which is hard and crusty like that falls off. I also have a few cysts on the back of my head. And I also breakout on my scalp, like pimples or just red bumps. I have been to the dermatologist. They tested my scalp for fungus, but it came out negative. But I truly believe I do have a fungus problem that has caused all these symptoms. My scalp is itchy as well.

I would like your advise on what I can do. I tried to look through the website and it was confusing, because there were parts that were opposite to what was said before. I would like to know what kind of dietary supplements I should take? How much? In powder or tablet form? Is there something I can put on my head directly? What kind of shampoo should I use? How many times a day/week? This information would help me out so much. Please find the time to help me out with this."

The kitten had ringworm and we didn't know it until it was too late. My daughter eventually ended up getting it on her scalp. Two prescriptions later it still wasn't better! The ACV solution has made a huge difference. Its been a month (I treat her head every single night)and all the small spots are gone and the two large spots she has are 75% healed!! I also, in the evening, rub a cut garlic clove on the spots.

Follow the ACV treatment and dont stop until it is gone! I'd also recommend treating for 2-3 weeks after to make 100% sure.... you dont want it coming back.

Im so thankful I came across this website!"

Little did I know that all of these treatments messed up the Ph of my scalp and that was the cause of all the itching and the pin prick feeling. Last Sunday night I mixed a couple of tablespoons full of borax in some warm water and used it as a hair rinse in the shower. Monday I was about 85% better! In the morning I applied a little Borax water to my scalp and massaged in. I have been repeating this process everyday and today (Thursday) and I am probably 95%. My hair looks and feels great too!! I can't believe something I have been cleaning my carpets with and adding to my dishwasher detergent cured my scalp problem. So much for the health food stores $12 shampoe! This remedy REALLY works~~"
