[YEA] Dianna from Austin, Tx writes: "a friend of mine had scabies and came in my house to tell me about it and even sat on my bed!!! (before she told me LOL)

she had welts everywhere and she had been scratching for days and it looked very uncomfortable!

i told her to try orange oil added into her bath water and also to make a mix in spray bottle of about 50 drops or so for 16 ounces of water.

she came back and told me that it had worked!!!

now she only came to me after she had been to the doctor twice and used the prescription creams and they didn't work - but the orange oil did.

WARNING: do not go into the sun after applying the orange oil - it photosensitizes skin (makes it easier to burn) so it may be better to use it at night which is what she did.

also, keep orange oil away from MALE pet rats. the limomene in it can cause them to develop tumors in later life supposedly.

orange oil is very cheap also and it smells good! although after using it for a while you may get sick of smelling the orange smell.

oh - and i immediately did and orange oil bath and sprayed the same mixture of orange oil all over my bed and in my room and had not scabies trouble myself!!!"

[YEA] Itchy from Houston, Tx writes: "Garlic Supplements cures scabies. If you have read through the post, I previously posted a yea for borax and peroxide. They did work to relieve my itching, but I still got long welts on my skin which then turned into little bumps and itched like crazy. Wednesday I did some searching and found out that garlic is anti-fungal, anti-parasitic, and could cure scabies. So I ran out an purchased a bottle at the $1 store. Skeptical that it was not going to be potent enough, I decided it wouldn't hurt to try. I took the supplements twice a day once in the morning and once at night. My supplements were 400mg. Use caution because too much garlic can make you sick. I was itch free completely within 2 days with no new bumps. I was sharing the bottle with my two boys, and did not realize that there were only two pills left today on Monday. So I gave the last two pills to my children. Now I sit here itching, but not to the degree that I was, but my children are not itching at all. First thing tomorrow I am getting another bottle. When i run out again I am going to try going off the pill again, will let you all know how well it works out. I wish eveyone luck. This thing is no picnic!"

Just a word about the post-treatment itching. I had it bad after permethrin treatments. Found out it was because I was so allergic to the eggs laid under the skin. Sulfur helped stop the itch immediately. I purchase it cheaply from a bonsai seller and used 2 0z mixed with a thick hand cream as a salve. It kills them critters as well, but smells and can stain until it gets dry. Can be mixed with body wash in the same concentration for showers. My husband recently bought the lime sulphur dip for dogs and it is full strength. I have 4 long haired pomeranians that are the dickens to treat safely. I hope to try the enzymes on them. Now, someone please tell me how to gain everyone's FULL co-operation in treating these vermin. One member of my family has threatened to shut me up permanently if I mention it again and he is covered with them all over his back and spreading them. Woe is me."

[YEA] Itchy from Houston, Tx writes: "Scabies

My son got infected. Don't know how. Despite the warnings to treat everyone in the house, I only had my son taking the Borax baths. Well, now I'm infected, my other son, and my mother who does not live with us. I am going to start bathing everyone twice a day. But I wanted to report I saw two fresh welts on both my hands last night and began itching so I got a spray bottle and mixed warm water, borax, and peroxide. No measuring just pouring in, but you can't put too much borax because it will not dissolve and spray out. Itching stopped immediately when sprayed on. So I sprayed the kids down also. Usually there would be a bump left in those spots. Woke up this morning...no bump! Also, the itching in the morning would normally wake the kids up early in the morning. Every one was sound asleep!

Try this. My spray bottle was 8 oz so I'd say approx. 1tbs of borax, 1 tbs of peroxide, and 6oz of warm water (you need room to shake the botte to mix) Shake well the borax has to dissolve.

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Gemini from Greenville, North Carolina, Usa writes: "My husband and I have scabies... I hate to admit it but its true. We work from city to city in 12 week spurts and contracted this evil critter during our last run, from a hotel, I'm sure.

He started scratching before me. In the beginning we thought it was because he had his hair cut the day the "itch" began. Once he showered and attempted to settle down for bed the itch became more intense. I assumed he had an allergy to something and gave him Benadryl. That night he was miserable after the Benadrly wore off and I slept like a baby. 3 days later I started to itch. I had red whwelts around my waist and buttocks. He only had red bumps on his arm and the small of his back.

When my Doctors office was open that next morning, I was the first in line. He diagnosed us as having scabies and prescribed permethrin for us both. IT DID NOT WORK! Second application DID NOT WORK!

So I hit the web, stumbled across Earth Clinic and began researching treatments for these evil mites... We have suffered 4 weeks with of lack of sleep and we cut off the connection with family and friends in fear the too may be infected with our unwanted critters.

I would recommend to anyone that has Scabies to try the Borax Soak- With all of the hair brained things we have tried this was the only that showed any progress for success... 3 cups borax, 2 cups epsom salt, 2 cups hydrogen peroxide in the hottest bath that you can tolerate. Soak for 30 mins. Do not rinse, pat dry and apply clear fingernail polish to the bumps. My theory was it would suficate them. We repeated this soak twice a day for 7 days. At the present we are on the road to recovery...(fingers crossed) I only have old bumps that have now dried and are fading and my hubby has 2 red angry whelts along with older bumps drying and fading. This is a far cry better than the HUNDREDS of spots, bumps, whelts, patches and brusing (from scratching)We will continue to do this soak every other day forever or until we have had zero break outs and all spots are healed for at lease 2 weeks.

Please keep in mind... I had our home sprayed and carpets cleaned along with wearing all clothing once and washing clothing asap in hot water and borax.

As for the occasional itch we use hand sanitizer. It cools the spot and we think it slows or kills the mites. I will admit that I have developed a mental issue with this ordeal. I fear that they will never go away fully. Everytime I feel anything crawly or itchy I automatically assume we were defeated again by the evil mites.... This is by far one of the most horrible experience of my life.

Good luck to all with this horrible illness. I pray that you find relief. I will follow up in soon to relay our progress. Happy Holidays, Genny

This is similar to others, but it's real good if you've been having a hard time getting rid of those things even with the borax/hydrogen soak. Here's what you do:

wash/dry on hot all lining.
* Mix 1 part borax and 8 parts hydro-proxide.
* wipe down all pillows/mattress using a wash cloth and borax/hydro mix.
* sprinkle borax on carpet. leave on carpet until scabies is 100% cured.
* mix 1 part borax, 1 part citris dish soap, 1 part water in a bucket.
* take a shower. Stop the shower and use a wash cloth to scrub yourself with the borax/citris mix neck to toe(no running water or sitting in water, just your damp self). leave on for 10-20 minutes or as long as you can stand it - it will sting and it will leave your skin very dry.
* wash borax/citrus mix off and finish your shower.
* replace lining and go to bed.
* wake up and apply borax/hydro mix to all areas of your skin that still itch. let it mixture dry on you.continue to do this throughout the day as needed.
* repeat all steps until all those creatures die.

IT WILL WORK.

After suffering for about 10 days with intense itching in the palms of my hands and fingers, I went to a dermatologist. I had been treating myself for hand eczema using suggestions from EC. The Derm felt I had scabies. I got the cream RX filled, but came to this site for recommendations to try first. That night I bathed in 2 cups of Borax with 1 bottle of hydrogen peroxide for 30 minutes. I slept all night without a terrible itching episode for the first time in nearly 2 weeks. I bathed the same for another 2 nights and also kept borax in my shower to use as a scrub in the mornings. I changed my sheets every day and only wore clothing one time. I washed everything in hot water and added borax to the laundry detergeant. Luckily, I am the only one here at home who has suffered. Don't know where they came from, but I have such peace of mind knowing that we can fix the problem without harmful creams. And the relief was almost instant! I am continuing to use Borax with my laundry detergeant and scrub with it on the spots that may come up.

Thank you to Earth Clinic for this site and for all of you who post here. I also had a terrible case of acid reflux for a month solid that I cured with apple cider vinegar after reading here. It took 4-6 weeks, but I have absolutely no symptoms now.

I recieved some items, clothes, furniture ect. from a family friend who was cleaning out her garage. I also got bedbugs and scabies. We had no idea what was going on. I have four boys and they were scratching up a storm. I thought I was going crazy. We'd just switched detergents, so I thought that must be it, but it wasn't. When I told my friend about it, she was very concerned that we may have gotten scabies from her things, because she didn't think they could live that long. So I went to the dr. and she thought it was allergies too. But it wasn't and the use of the borax and peroxide soak proved it. I found a questionaire on another website, and every answer was yes. When I found this website, I thanked god. I combined 2-cups of borax with 1 bottle of peroxide, this into a full tub of water as hot as you can stand it.

For my children I used 1 cup borax and 1/2 cup of peroxide. I also decided to use the antibacterial soap. I did this because although we have all been afflicted with the bites, my husband hands and arms are totally clear. Where he works he always has to use the antibacterial gel, you know the inst-wash stuff. and he just rubs it on like lotion. So we've started using that too. Just in case anyone else thinks it might help. Good luck to all of you. We'll be taking bath #2 tonight, and another tomorrow. Then start again next friday. Also I'm gonna try the Diatomaceous earth powder. Have any of you ever heard of Dri-Die? It's supposed to kill bedbugs, and other creepy crawlies. Is it anything like DE? Thanks...Lori

Also tried Ivermectin paste for horses (out of desperation,3 times)I did get what seemed to be a reduction in lesions but even after 12 Permethrin treatments it kept coming back. Dermatolagist said I was healing... just quit scratching. I came across a scabies blog where people were getting great results with soaking a half hour in 1 cup washing soda, dissolving washing soda (1) in 4-1 water (4), no rinsing and spraying floors, furniture walls etc. To my astonishment after 2 treatments my lesions are healing quickly and I think we got a Winner! I immediately looked up the condition. AND came to this site. Based on my reading, he had to have been infected at the barest minimum of 1 week prior to his itching. I had no symptoms- no itching, saw no bugs. I washed my linen, secured my clothing from my visits to him.

Bathed in H202 and seemed to be fine.

Realized that I would get them also but didn't go to DR. Today, I saw 2 little black bugs, and I have what could be bites. DISTRESS- have appointment on Sept 23 for well women stuff.

QUESTIONS: IS THIS TOO SOON? DO I NEED SORES? IS THERE A BLOOD TEST? Just went to the store to get borax, H202 and citris mouth wash.

Coco from Pt. Charlotte, Fl, Usa writes: "Thank you Ted, for your answers, when dermatologists are in denial, you are a God send.

I believe I have mites burrowing into my scalp and skin. Bumps/bites become itchy, I scratch (try not to). Then I end up with tons of bites/scratch marks on my arms, legs, chest, back, face, nose, and scalp. I have had this for approx 2 yrs now and have tried many remedies. Nothing has eradicated the mite. Sometimes I feel I am reducing the problem, then out of nowhere I end up with a new set of bites. I always seem to have more than one new bite in an area of my body. I have colored/bleached my hair for over 20 years. When I color/bleach my hair once a month, the bleach formula is extremely strong and is left on my hair for 30 mins. I can't help but wonder why the mites, at least the mites on my scalp don't die when I bleach my hair? If the strong bleach/peroxide formula doesn't kill them, how will borax and peroxide kill them? I recall that the initial itching began over two years ago when I went swimming at the beach and just let me hair dry in the sun, didn't shampoo until the next day or so. I have been reading voraciously to try to identify whats biting me. Some kind of mite seems to be most likely. My mites are white and look like a grain of rice but much, much smaller than rice. I would be forever grateful if you have any helpful information to rid my body of this parasite.

Sincerely and Thank you

Snubian from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania writes: "Hi all, I hope this helps someone. I am tramatised in Philly and have been battling this SCABBIE mite for 3mos. I used a few things in conjunction. First know your enemy this mite likes to nest in paper, anything poreous(sp)curtains, rugs, books, unfoRtunatly humans, as we who are suffering know. So trash anyhing in your house made of these substances, it especially likes to lay eggs in your bedding. I threw out almost all of my belongings and minimized everything. I went to kmart and bought twin fold out iron bed frame(100 bucks) and a swiss blow up mattress (43 bucks) one allergy fitted mattress cover to protect against microscopic pest. I purchased xtreme clean, medicated wash and salve and pest dust from Q base solutions on line. The dust should be fine mist throughout your home, it smothers the mite and strips its skeleton and that of its eggs, I also put it on my body to smother any emerging mite. Neutrogena acne prone skin body wash and scrub has acid in it and I found that it flattens out those bumps and heals the skin. Use vitamin e oil to help repair skin. Eat as much fresh cloves of garlic as you can stand because it is a natural anti parasitic and it will also help to fight off infections. Eat alot of fruit and veggies for the vitamin c to keep your immune system up, its needed against this bug, Wash all your bedding and clothing everyday. If you can, after a bath coat yourself with petrolium jelly and add tea tree oil which kills their egg cycle to keep them from breeding in your home. Fine mist that dust in your bedding too and on all hard surfaces(not too much because you dont want them walking on it) you want to choke them out. PRAY, PRAY, PRAY!!!!! dO NOT TRASH ITEMS UNTIL YOU GET THE DUST, if you disturb any of their nest they may come after you and you want to protect yourself. Use the dust in your car because the mite goes where you go. I hope to God that this helps someone."

Immediatley when we left the beach my right arm, where my elbow is or fold is, it began to burn & itch really bad. I figured I had just suffered from being sunburned. For about 2 - 3 days my arm itched like crazy and I figured it was dry/sunburned skin, so I kept putting lotion or aloe gel on the site. Until I noticed the trail inbedded under my skin. I knew it was scabies & or mites. Immediateley I changed all my bedding, clothes and made sure that I washed my hands regularly. The itching would be so bad that it would wake me every night. I couldn't stand it anymore. I dont have medical insurance to get a prescription from a doctor, so I came across this site. What a relief, I had to use household / holistic remedies to treat this. The Citrus Listerine/Mouthwash really works. I'd apply it the area, let it completly dry, then I would apply straight Orange Oil (you can get it @ health food stores for about $2-$3). I did this twice a day, if not more when needed, at night and in the morning. The itching has completley stopped, the discoloration is fading...THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for this home remedy, THIS ONE WORKS !!!! :)"

[YEA] Codysmom from Annandale, Va, USA writes: "borax and hydrogen peroxide cured my scabies

After 4 weeks of uncomfortable itching all over, I finally figured out that I had scabies. I decided to try the hydrogen peroxide and borax remedy posted on this site and it worked like a charm. I did have to soak in a bath of hot water, hydrogen peroxide (1 bottle) and 2 laundry scoops of the borax for two days, 30 minutes each soak. Then the next two days I didn't have time for baths so I just scrubbed borax all over while I was in the shower. I scrubbed for a good 10 minutes. I now just have slight itching in a couple of areas and I will continue to scrubb with borax until the itching is gone. This whole rememdy cost me $4 and I didn't have to go to the doctor for that pesticide cream. Yea for this site."

[YEA] Sharon from Wesley Chapel, FL writes: "scabies is cured!!

My mom and I hd been fighting these scabies mites for 4 years now. Came from chickens she bought from a farmer. We tried everything, and thank god for earthclinic and Ted's recommendations, but still no permanent cheap relief as I was unable to treat the beds and get em all killed. After spending $3000 on a sleep number bed,I couldnt just replace it. However--My mom called me up and told me that spraying hydrogen peroxide solution on herself all over killed the things. I had found it at walmart listed as non-chlorine bleach with a pink label. I tried it and was a little disapointed, maybe 70% results. I figured I had not treated everything in my house properly. Also, I was reading about DMSO. I read where the DMSO goes deep into the skin and you had better be clean where you apply it or it will take the dirt down deep with it. So, I mixed 3/4 cup DMSO, 1 cup water and 1 cup peroxide bought at wal-mart into a spray bottle. Its called non-chlorine bleach with a pink label next to the regular bleach. BINGO, instant kill rate even below the skin. I had to treat the really big spots for a couple of days until they dried up. Now I had the perfect spray for me, my bed, my car, my long haired dogs. Its a miracle. I recommend treating your whole body every day until you have no more spots as they will crawl out of a small "kill zone spray" if you dont add enough DMSO. I put in less (1/4 cup )DMSO and it didnt kill as fast, but still killed em. No smell either. Been 3 weeks now and on those in my family who used it, it works great. I have one family member in denial. however, even so, I can still treat his stuff without the big fight over the smell of the sulfur I was using."

[YEA] Charlie from Los Angeles, California writes: "Neem Tree with Aloe cured my mites (scabies) after five years of itchy hell. The doctor prescribed me Permethrin cream on several different occasions, only to irritate and antagonize my parrasites. On top of that Permethrin is a horrible pesticide used in Raid and other icky substances. Not people friendly enough for ME to rub in head to toe. So after half a decade of pain and pesticide i decided to order some neem tree products off of a health store online. According the the indians neem is a safe sterilization agent and a wonderful organic pesticide. Apparently it destroys the mite eggs before they hatch, leaving no more generations to mate on. Lo and behold, three or four weeks after treatment started i was mite free. Take caution though, you may want to keep on with treatment for a month or two to make sure no eggs hiding in floorboards, the coutch, your steering wheel, ect, can hatch and respawn.

Love, luck, and lolipops!"

[QUESTION] Cindy D from Greenville, Texas writes: "Scabies. OMG! This has me so depressed! To hear that some people have had these for a year? My boyfriend lives in sandy soil and I first thought it was sand fleas. Boy was I wrong. He stays in motels for work and I truly believe this is where it came from! I am embarrassed to tell him. But I will tonight. We have not seen each other for a month so I wonder what he will think. This has been going on for about a month now. It's driving me insane, but I finally went to the Dr. and he prescribed Eurax cream rubbed over entire body and left on for 48 hours (no bath). It's gross! I think my house is infected so tonight I intend to go on a cleaning mission. I have leather couches and when you sit on them you can feel the mites jumping you. What to do there? I think my mattress is infested as well. I have sprayed with bleach. Also is there anything I can put in my steam cleaner to help kill these creeps? I itch constantly at work and am afraid and embarassed that my coworkers will get it! I need to do something in my office without drawing notice. I have gotten some really good info from this site and will try whatever! Thanks guys soooo much. It makes you feel so unclean."

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Barb from Philly area, PA writes: "I have had Scabies since the end of this past February. We stayed in a hotel and 1.5 weeks later, I had pin pricking sensations all over. The initial Dr. I saw diagnosed Scabies, took Permitherin, Ivermechtin (twice), and am using enzymes in my bath. The enzymes kill proteins immediately; problem is that we all need to interupt the life cycle of the Scabies. In reading a lot of information, I believe that people with compromised immune systems or diabetics have a more difficult time with these. Also, if you had them one time only, the Permitherin cream usually works. The second time, forget it! This is the second time for me; although, the first time I was diagnosed as having Bed Bugs. I also use enzymes in a spray bottle and keep the bottle in bed with me. This way, in the middle of the night, I can zap them if I feel them on me. In order not to have to change my bed each and every night, as I was doing in the beginning, I have a heavy air mattress uninflated on top of my bed. I create a bedroll each night with a blanket and sheet (king size) doubled over. When I get up in the morning, I place the blanket and sheet in hot water, borax, bleach, enzymes. I rotate the 2 sets of blankets and sheets, always one in the wash but having one available. The uninflated air matress gets sprayed with the enzymes, as does the entire area surrounding the bed. Also, protector covers on your pillows are important; I wash my pillow case each morning and spray the pillow protector cover with the enzymes. My family does not have these, so something must be working.

Regarding the environment, consider gettin the DE (earth). If you just vacumn, these mites are so small, they can be blown right out the back of the cleaner! I sprinkle the DE all over my rugs and floors, THEN vacumn. This way the DE will kill them because the DE will be inside the vacumn cleaner bag along with the mites.

Regarding the Polk root- you can get Polk root in dropper form at the health food store. It is recommended that you take between 3-15 drops daily, 3 times per day. This is scary, since Polk is a poison. It is really important to work on your immune system and protect your liver at the same time. I purchased a supplement just for this purpose. I am taking very good suppletments, MMS, Vitamin B, and now have added the Polk root, and liver protector. On the exterior, I am also using Colloidal silver gel, as a topical application. By the way, if you have tried the MMS (research online) you know after a while it is hard to withstand the odor and taste. I have purchased clear gel caps to incapsulate the liquid. The caplets do not melt and it makes it much more tolerable to swallow. MMS has been proven to kill Malaria, so I figured, why not? This product definitly weakens the mites. By working on building the immune system in tandem with killing these things from the exterior, I have to be positive that it won't be long.

So far, this is the best supportive site. I have seen 6 physicians, including 2 dermatologists; one being at University of Pennsylvania. (Meca) I also drove 4 hours to visit a Chinese herbalist who has worked all over the world in third world countries. (no help) This is still the best; we are in this together..... and yet alone. Nobody really understands until they have this ailment. I hope and pray that this information is helpful; it is my way of giving back and I hope it helps! God bless, Barb
