COCONUT OIL, CAYENNE PEPPER

2 YEA

[YEA]  12/03/2007: Dave from Tokyo, Japan writes: "I had a rash on my chest and i was getting redder and more itichy every day. It was also creaping and aboutt to go on my face. I was about to go to the doctors--something I only do when really desperate. So, being a fan of cayenne pepper and coconut oil, I mised them on and applied to just part of my chest. Within two days and with two applications, the rash was gone only where I had put the mixture. Has anyone tried putting these two things together?"

[YEA]  09/23/2009: Believer from Boston, Ma Usa replies: "Dave~ I've had a rash on my leg for about a month; about 4x7 inches. It literally appeared overnight was very itchy. I tried ACV and also tried Coconut oil with no luck. I finally went to the Doctor and he prescribed "nystatin - Triamcinolone Acetonide" ointment. That was two weeks ago and I just renewed the prescription. The itching is considerably better but the rash is still very red and ugly. I'm going on a cruise next week and I'd given up all hope of being able to wear shorts. Perhaps out of desperation, I tried your cayene pepper and coconut oil paste last night. I applied it to the rash and put a large gauze pad loosley over it. When I woke this morning, there is absolutely no itchng and the rash is about 50% GONE. I'll try another application today. THANK YOU"

COLLOIDAL SILVER

1 YEA

[YEA]  02/04/2008: Gabi from TORONTO, CANADA writes: "Hi. I didn't try turmeric when I was in boils. I use Colloidal Silver Water. Apply a drop or two on top of boil (acne too!). After 1-2 hr it stops hurting, stops "growing". Up to 3 days it subsides to red spot. You can use small hair spry bottle (with very fine mist like spry). If you have acne or boils more then one and you expect more to show up spray it on your skin just once and let it dry. Nothing will break out! I suffered for almost 30 years from something what doctor called "diaper rush" (!). The pic of my "diaper rush" was always during summer months. After using once single spray of Colloidal Silver Water I am free of this skin condition. I will get 1 tiny pimple time to time but who hasn't have it during hot summer days?"

COW UDDER CREAM

1 YEA
1 WARNING!

[YEA]  07/16/2009: Jon from Casa Grande, Arizona writes: "With the extreme heat here in southern Arizona I develop some pretty bad rashes from sweating in my crotch area. A common over the counter remedy that works wonders overnight is used on cow udders.....I'm sure from that you can guess what the product is....at least I hope so....It works SUPER!!!"

[WARNING!]  07/19/2009: Kathy from Stanwood, Wa replies: "I wouldn't use that...the main ingredient in ____ is petroleum jelly."

EPSOM SALTS

1 YEA

[YEA]  09/20/2008: Colton from North Lauderdale, Florida writes: "i'm allergic to a plant down here and unknowingly got in contact with it. i broke out in a really nasty rash on my arm and neck. A trainer at my gym told me to use epsom salt. He said it'll dry it out and kill the bacteria in it. i did and my rash cleared up in a few days and gott noticably better after each treatment. Mind you i tried all kinds of creams and allergy pills that had no effect what so ever."

GINGER ROOT

1 YEA

[YEA]  03/20/2007: Markel from Springfield, Missouri writes: "I use ginger to prevent this horrific rash. I juice a pound of root into a couple dozen mini ice cubes and plop them into my teas, soups, sauces, stews, etc. I am curious that only the yellow ginger root works and not the brown ginger. Would appreciate feedback on the difference between the two types. I've had the rash for over ten years. Just discovered the ginger remedy over a year ago. I have appr. twenty pounds(pre-juice weight) of frozen ginger cubes in my freezer because I am such a strong believer in it's power to keep my horrific rash in check."

GOLDENSEAL

1 YEA

[YEA]  09/29/2009: Twila from Alexandria, Virginia Usa writes: "My father had boils, i.e., cysts, appear on his arms for years. I found that Goldenseal Root is a GREAT herb with 'drawing' powers. I convinced him to try my paste, let it dry, then wash it off. Not only did the cyst go away fast, but has not returned! I have used Goldenseal Root to 'draw' infection out of cuts, sores, etc., and even cure athletes foot. You only need a small amount of the powder and a tiny amount of water. Stir into a paste quickly and spread it on the affected area. Let it dry. Rinse off. You have to be quick as it begins to work as soon as water hits it. Be careful, a tiny amount of water goes a long way! My mom had a rash on the back of her hand - all the prescription creams made it go away but as soon as she stopped using, the rash would reappear. Used the Goldenseal Root past method on the rash. It went away in 2 days and never returned."

HONEY

[YEA]  02/18/2007: Tanya from Bellingham, WA writes: "Raw Honey for diaper rashes: my grandfather used to raise honey bees, and sell the honey. my mother used the raw honey on diaper rashes. it was all that ever touched the bums of my three younger sisters. she had a small container of it in the diaper bag, and some q-tips to apply it. i love telling people about this. they don't believe me, but a few have tried it."

LICHEN STRIATUS REMEDIES

1 QUESTION

[QUESTION]  05/20/2009: Lisa Jones from Dallas, Tx writes: "I don't see anything on here about Lichen Striatus. I took my son to the doctor today and this is what she said that he has. It looks like a rash of prickly little bumps that are formed in a straight line. I have seen things with the word of Lichen in it on the site but not Lichen Striatus. I thought that he got it from the barber when he got a hair cut. This is the first day that I remember seeing it. The source of the skin condition says that it's unknown. Does anyone know of any natural cures for this? Thanks"

MILK OF MAGNESIA

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/21/2009: Jodi from Bowmansville, NY, USA writes: "My friend told me about Milk of Magnesia for burns. When her daughter was little she has rashes so bad on her bottom that she had to leave on the diaper quite often because of her acidity level in her urine. One day her mother was watching her and she told her mother to be very careful because of the rash. She left for a few hours and when she came home the rash was gone. She had applied Milk of Magnesia directly on her granddaughter and not long after the skin rash was gone.

My friend also told me about using it on burns, so I have tried it. My daughter and I have both burned our hands so I tried it and it worked. You need to soak it near an hour but it leaves no red marks and it feels better."

MOLASSES

1 YEA

[YEA]  07/10/2007: Nikisha from New Brunswick, NJ writes: "I was so surprised to hear that blackstrap molasses is actually good for your health. When I was a small child we ate it as a treat with warm biscuits. I used to love it. After I read this I decided to try it on warm rye crisp bread today. It tastes great. And amazingly, a few hours after eating it I noticed that this ugly skin rash I had is completely cleared up and my skin looks great."

MYLANTA

1 YEA

[YEA]  04/12/2007: Shauna from Casper, Wyoming writes: "I have found Mylanta poured on a bottom clears up diaper rash over night, as well as soreness from diahrea. My dr. told me about this when my now 3 yr old was 8 months old...I've used it ever since. When baby has severe rash from diahrea simply put them in the sink or tub w/ just enough water to cover bottom and add mylanta...let them soak for a bit, then pat dry pour in diaper and let them go to bed...will be nearly to completely gone by morning."

NEEM OIL

1 BETTER BUT NOT CURED

[BETTER BUT NOT CURED]  11/03/2009: Lilly from Wellington, New Zealand writes: "I have been plaqued by all kinds of symptoms and just recently discovered it is most likely candida. I had rashes, hives, prickles, body hot flashes, allergic feeling, sneezing, weird smell coming from body. When my rashes dry out I get dandruff like white dust (a sign of fungi) and this is when it starts to heal up - before that rash just about made me leap through the roof.

I started to use Neem oil. I put a few drops in water and because I don't have a bath put it on container and then dribble it over my body. I rub it in at last point in shower so it doesn't wash off then get out and let it dry. I don't put any creams on just dry.

I have been using it for about a week and so far the rash has almost gone - i don't itch nearly as much, no more hives, or prickles unless I get over hot.

I am also going to add in betonite clay/psyillum. Spices I crave but they may create too fast die off because I get really hot and itchy after I eat them.

I recommed Neem (some of the other oils I get reactions too but i'm fine with neem). Will you keep you posted - I can tell I have overgrowth in throat (not in mouth) and I guess probably just about everywhere. I am also going to try find some leaves to put in warm water and soak - or chew on."

NU-STOCK

2 YEA

[YEA]  07/06/2008: Jean from Franklin, WI writes: "A number of years ago, we acquired a German Shepherd with a severe case of mange, covering about 1/3 of his body. The vet's expensive prescription products hardly touched it. After a lot of study, I found a product generally used for horses to heal wounds and rashes. It's called Nu-Stock. It cleared the mange up after only 2 applications and it has never returned. His hair grew back very quickly, and although he wasn't too thrilled with the first application, he WANTED the second one very much. The itching stopped immediately.

A couple years later, my daughter had a rash that no doctor seemed able to get rid of. We tried the Nu-Stock and it cleared right up and hasn't returned.

I've had a problem with athlete's foot for years. I tried all the other remedies and it got rid of "most" of it, but there was a spot on the ball of one foot, including two toes where it just wouldn't go away. One day it occurred to me to try Nu-Stock. After just a couple of applications, the skin was back to normal, all itching gone, and it appears to be healing permanently. I think this is going to finally kill it!!!

Doing a little studying, I've found that Nu-Stock is 73% sulphur, 25% mineral oil, and 2% pine oil.

I've also discovered that there are other health products made for pets that aren't available for people. For instance, in the local Farm & Fleet, you can buy a cheap package of electrolytes for your pet's water. 16 oz. of DMSO was only $5. And there were other things as well, most of them in the section for horses! Isn't it amazing that you can buy products for your pets, cheaply, and you can't get prescription products that work for yourself???"

[YEA]  09/16/2009: Dog Lover from Cleburne, Tx, usa replies: "really works like they say it does. saved all 5 of my dogs even my 14 yr old"

PRICKLY HEAT, MILIARIA, SWEAT RASH

1 QUESTION

[QUESTION]  03/31/2009: Rick from Vancouver, Canada writes: "Is there anyone out there dealing with prickly heat? and if you are or know how to get rid of it, could you PLEASE help me out. I've been dealing with prickly heat off and on for about 20 yrs and currently this bout of it has lasted a year.

Apperently it's some sort of bacteria that blocks your sweat glands causing a painfull pricking sensation when you sweat, but the sweat never gets to the surface of the skin, it gets trapped under the skin causing painfull tiny blister like bumps all over the body.

I'm not overweight and considered pretty healthy for 42, but when I try to do something active, for eg/ hiking, running, and biking I'm not able to sweat and have to deal with first the prickly heat then I overheat because of the lack of sweat to cool me down and eventually get very weak, dizzy and tired. This is a scarry feeling because I could be out in the middle of nowhere and not have the energy to get back. Doctors say its an allergic reaction and prescribe a antihistimine. THIS DOES NOT WORK!!!. I'm still dealing with this and I want my active life back, I shouldn't have to live my life looking for water in rivers, lakes, hoses on houses to cool down when I over heat. Please help if you can!

I want to sweat again! I've seen a few remedies on the net, but not sure if I want to give my money away to an unknown source. Do they work?

Rick"

11/08/2009: Barefoot Allen from Welaka, Florida replies: "Drink More Water. I'm not kidding. If I feel a small itch, I drink 16oz. & it will go away. I drink about 8 bottles a day, more in the summer. Sometimes I take magnesium & calcium tablets so I don't get leg cramps, caused by drinking too much water."

06/11/2009: Linda from Erlanger, Ky writes: "Hello: I am 45 yrs old and up until now have never had sun poisoning but I am sure that is what I have now. I have several patches of red bumps on my lower legs but no where else on my body. It does not itch, burn, sting, it's just there and quite embrrasing. It popped up a few days after spending 2 days at a public swimming pool and being out in the sun for a couple of hours each of the 2 days. Does anyone have any ideas or cures for this? Thanks in advance"

06/12/2009: Linda from Erlanger, Ky replies: "Since my original post regarding my suspected sun poison rash, I realized there were some details that I left out accidentally. Back in April, I had a terrible case of what I thought was poison ivy. I have had PI many times in my life, but this stuff was awful. I had huge red itchy patches on each lower leg, and my right forearm. Looked like I had been in a fire! I went to the dr and got a shot of prednilasone and also had 1 oral round of the steroid. I was also applying Triamcinolone acetonide cream on the areas. Later I learned that jewelweed was the alternative cure so I went thru 3 bottles of that, which worked great. Anyhow, so now I have what I think is sun poison, and I find it odd that I have never had it before, but now I do after going thru what I did with the poison ivy and I also think I had some sumac since it looked like nothing I had never seen before. I just thought these details would be important for anyone who thinks they may have a cure for me.thanks"

04/22/2009: AMB from Los Angeles, CA writes: "Rash on Face after stopping Birth Control:

I stopped taking birth control pills(been taking for 10 years) in January 2009. Recently after, my face broke out in this rash or something! It was in areas around the mouth and chin. It's not necessarily pimples... more like a rash. It's been 4 months and I'm still dealing with it.

I searched on here for some remedies and have been playing around with ways to fix this. I wash my face with Dr. Bronner's Castile Soap and moisturize mainly with jojoba oil. Sometimes Burt's Bees daytime moisturizer. I often exfoliate with baking soda, but not every day. At night I dilute Apple Cider Vinegar with water and apply all over my face with a cotton ball. I let that dry and then a couple times a week I will put a Raw Honey Mask on my face. This seems to minimize the trouble that has erupted on my face. I've recently found something not so organic; ____ Drying Lotion - it has Calamine in it. I put this on before going to bed. In the morning my face is so much better! I gently exfoliate with baking soda to get rid of some dry skin and again, moisturize with jojoba oil. It seems fine during the day (not great, still a rash, but not so noticeable), but by the end of the day, my face needs all the remedies again. Does anyone know if this will be an on-going battle? I used to have wonderful, flawless skin until I stopped birth control. Now I constantly have a rash that I end up having to cover up with foundation to be presentable for my job. Is there a fix for this? Is this a body chemistry thing? Perhaps my body needs to adjust to me not using oral contraceptive? My job requires me to have a clean and flawless face (like I used to have). I don't want to take antibiotics or start taking birth control pills again. There has to be a natural way of fixing this. Thanks so much for any insight."

04/23/2009: Anonymous from In, California replies: "You are likely right, AMB. Your body, specifically your hormones, are adjusting to this change. Kind of like detoxing. I went through something similar, and it even prevented me from getting off the pill until one or two tries, because my skin got so bad. Another tell-tale sign (from what I've read and experienced) is the chin/mouth area, which often is indicative of hormone-related/caused acne. In your case it's a rash, but I suspect it is a similar experience and that's why I write.

What I did to finally ease myself off the pill without big problems like this is start to take hormone-balancing supplements (herbs and/or vitamins) before going off. But you can try this now and it might help get your system back in balance. I should have another post listed on EC somewhere, where I describe this in detail. I think it was Vitex or Wild Yam...do a search online and you can discover what can help."

04/24/2009: AMB from Los Angeles, CA replies: "Thank you sooo much for responding and for the advice. I will try patience and supplements. Much appreciated."

06/23/2009: Joellie from Amsterdam, Holland replies: "Hi, I think you have got seborrheic dermatitis..."

06/24/2009: Nobey from Arkansas, USA replies: "I have heard that it can take time for the body to adjust after birth control pills, so hopefully it will eventually go away. I have also read alot of the benefit of the herb milk thistle that can help cleanse the liver which metabolises hormones. I have even read that some women who had acne achieved better clearer skin by using it. Perhaps you could start treating the body also with some of the suggestions that ted has like aple cider vinegar and taking black strap molasses or oil pulling. Although I would take one at at a time to see what is helping since they are both powerful on there own. Another powerful detoxer cleanser that I take and love is barley powder. In the meantime lay off of dairy for a few days and see if it helps. I have read that alot of people got rid of skin problems by stopping dairy (from what I understand it can act as an inflammitory. One of my close friends who has a similar break out pattern (around the mouth and chin) has been helped immensely by stopping dairy!

Good luck"

03/01/2009: Victoria from Agadir, Morocco writes: "please help a new mom: Hello there, very happy to have found this wonderful website. As I had mentioned, I am a 2nd time new mom with a 3 and a half old baby boy. As you moms out there know sleep is not something that I have had a lot of for the last 3 months. On top of that, however, I have broken in few different kinds of rashes - around my aoreolas, on the inside of my arms, on my eye lids and on chin and neck area. I went to the dermatologist and got a couple of different cremes which took care of my eye issues and neck and chin area issue, however, did not take care of the rash in the breast area and actually quite honestly the little rash under my right eye seems to be coming back, can feel it ever so slightly but its there. (the doctor said its a reaction from some bad nail polish, but I am not sure if I am buying his idea) I am on top of everything a ball of nerves due to I believe hormonal changes which still have not passed. Please if any of you had experienced similar things after giving birth and have an idea how i can help my self, please let me know. Greatly appreciated."

03/02/2009: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To Victoria from Agadir, Morocco:

Hello Victoria, Congratulations on your new little one. It's been quite a while since I was losing sleep with little ones, but how well I can remember how sleepy you get from lack of the opportunity.

Now let's talk about that troublesome rash. The first thing that comes to mind is the little one is now about 3 1/2 months old. The next thing that comes to mind is that all the areas of your rash are areas where your little one is likely to be touching while you are cuddling or nursing him. So, my first question is, What are you putting on the baby that may be causing this rash in those areas. Try using only water and wash cloth to clean your little one and yourself, leaving off all baby soaps, lotions, oils, powders, etc. If the rash disappears, you will know that whatever you were putting on the baby was causing it."

SODA CYSTALS

1 YEA

[YEA]  05/17/2008: Daniella from Beirut, Lebanon writes: "Carbicarb remedy which is a solution for many symptoms!! I had painful red itchy hands with pimples after working in the garden and i took 1/4 teaspoon of soda crystals (baking soda and sodium bicarbonate) in a glass of water the trademark is Tricel, made in the Netherlands, and in one hour the symptoms were gone. I also had running nose and the soda crystals dried my nose. My nose sometimes gets blocked and with daily use of soda crystals can return your nose to its normal condition and opened sinuses. Soda crystals does a lot! It helps my mother sleep easily, it alkalises your brain, helps your hypothalamus and help your exhausted adrenal glands to recover. This remedy and advice i got from Ted, he advised me to take daily soda crystals with a lot of water... It is helping my thyroid problem as well as i have hypothyroidism. I hope it will clean my liver too from the fats and clean it like it cleans a dirty plate. Thanx Ted for the great help you give with your advice as always. You are the best website!!! And Ted is the best! What do we do without Ted? What do we do without Earthclinic? We would probably die.. I am telling everyone i know how great Earthclinic is and they are checking your site."

SULFUR AND FISH OIL

1 YEA

[YEA]  01/22/2009: Isabella from Boulder, CO writes: "I had small, red patches and spots around my eyes that wouldn't go away after 3 or 4 months. I assumed I was reacting to something, developing new allergies perhaps. I've never had eczema. I didn't want to go to a dermatologist, as I assumed I'd be prescribed anti-biotics and/or steroid creams, etc. NO THANKS!

There's a very long story here, but to make it short, I went to a homeopathic doctor who recommended sulphur (small homeopathic tablets--cheap) and fish oil. Never found out what caused the inflammation, but the strange dry, red patches cleared up within 3 days and haven't returned since (over 2 months). Hope this helps someone who was as frustrated as I was! Peace, Isabella"
