[YEA] Martha from Prentiss Twp, Maine writes: "A dear friend has a horrible rash on her legs, with high fevers and pain. No doctors know the cause. Pictures have been sent to Johns Hopkins and Cleveland Clinic. I started rubbing her legs with warmed coconut oil. She was immediately better. Even more so when I added turmeric. Biopsies show inflammation only. Her legs when broken out look like untreated Relapse Fever. It is not well known in the US but is in the west and southwest. South American disease. My son diagnosed her when he was in nursing school from information out of his microbiology book. She has been tested for Relapse Fever and it has not shown up in blood tests. But, coconut oil works for her.

Cleansing Toxins, Oral Hygiene

[YEA] Notadrbuthasbrain from Fayetteville, North Carolina Usa writes: "Cleansing Toxins and Oral Hygeine for Swollen Glands and Rash

I recently broke out in a terrible blistery rash from my waist to my face. I had been in a hot tub, so initially I assumed it was an allergic reaction to the hot tub chemicals or a bacterial infection from the pH not being right. I was wrong. But first the rest of the story:

I was taken to the ER because my throat began to swell from the inflammation and I was having difficulty breathing. There I was pumped full of antibiotics and steriods. I immediately began probiotics to counter-balance the antibiotics, although there was little to be done but suffer the side effects of the steroid treatment. After that course of treatment was complete, the rash returned to a lesser extent. Also my neck glands were painfully swollen, so I knew infection was in my body. Finally, I also noticed constipation. This was when I started putting things together.

Where was the infection coming from? The nodes in my neck indicated the source of the problem was in my head area. The answer was in my mouth: periodontal disease. It along with stress had over-taxed my immune system, so that my bloodstream is full of toxins. When I went in the hot tub (which I never had problems with before) it relaxed me and released toxins through my skin: hence the rash. It had also caused my immune system to be lower, so that I had been sicker more often recently with upper respiratory infections. Those were secondary infections, however. So when they were treated and went away, the real problem was continuing unaddressed.

So I began treating my mouth every other day with a solution of 1 tsp of household bleach to 8oz of water (this kills staph and is recommended at periodontaldiseasetreatmentguide. Com) through a water pik after a 5 minute brushing, followed by 1 minute swish of 50/50 water and hydrogen peroxide, and also began a bowel cleanse (an organic fiber blend with colon cleansing herbs). Day one of the bowel cleanse/oral disinfecting reduced all of but one of my lymph nodes to normal, and only a few small patches of rash remained. In one week, my gums are in much better condition - although I will continue to disinfect my mouth twice a week for the rest of this year to allow bone to grow where the disease created pockets inside by gums. I don\'t have x rays, but better to be safe than toothless or worse.

Probiotics, oral hygiene, and detoxifying is working better than the drugs because it is addressing the root of the problem. Antibiotics and steroids temporarily brought relief but not permanent cure because they did not resolve the issue of toxin overload in my bloodstream nor did they resolve the periodontal issue, prolonging and ultimately worsening matters.

It\'s important not to make assumptions about what appears to be allergic reaction. Swollen lymph nodes happen when there is too many toxins for your white cells to carry, and these cause problems and symptoms in all kinds of ways in the body. They get expelled either through your hind end or through your pores. So if you have a combination of symptoms like mine, consider cleaning your mouth and bowels as a first step.

The horrible rash was on both feet and traveling up both legs! I was extremely depressed! I felt like I had leprosy! The condition was blood red in color! A poster posted a \"heads up\" regarding this skin problem and the use of the steroid creams and I was able to identify with his post. I stopped using the Steroid cream and left my rash ALONE. Ice Packs really helped the problem for me. My Red man Syndrome is nearly healed competely! Thank you poster and thank you EARTH CLINIC! This rash can take a month to peak so be patient. Leave it alone, sun bathe and use ice packs. (My condition healed almost immediately after leaving it alone)"

[NAY] Green Girl from Ocala, Florida writes: "I\'ve had a terrible rash mostly on my legs and sometimes my face for the past 10 yrs. All of my pores are raised, skin is extremely dry and tight, breaks easily and is hot to the touch. My legs also have reddish purple tint whereas the rest of my skin does not. It also itches unbearably! My legs have to be in open air and freezing all the time to get any relief. I mix org olive oil w/ org aloe based lotion and apply up to 5 times a day with no relief. I also have candida in my lungs which I thought could be the issue but I\'m not so sure anymore. I\'m incredibly strict w/ my diet and have basically only eaten meat and veggies for the past 8 yrs. I also rotate anti fungals regularly. I have no energy and weak immune system. Please help with your feedback. I need relief!

[YEA] Caitlin from San Diego, Ca writes: "Bathing dogs is part of my job, unfortunately the HARSH shampoos we use cause me to have a horribly painful, red, and slightly swollen rash on my hands and forearms. It\'s only dog shampoos however. Dish soap doens\'t do it to me. I have tried everything. Nothing prevents it except not bathing, vaseline does nothing to help the pain, and lotion only makes the stinging unbearable. I tried some unrefined coconut oil tonight. Within 5 minutes, the pain was gone. Completely. Still a bit red, but that is easing up a bit too. Not sure if it\'s an allergy, but it\'s similar to when I break out from handeling certain dog breeds. So I am assuming allergies have something to do with it.

Scratchy from Maddening, Itchland writes: "I am a previously healthy 25 year old female with no past allergy problems and no history of exzema, psoriasis or anything like that.

About 3 months ago I developed an itchy rash over my entire body - arms, stomach, chest, shoulders and back, thighs, buttocks... It never really seemed to affect my feet, hands, or face (although my ears got hot, itchy, and almost scaly for a while). It started kind of mildly, but in less than a week progressed to such an intense itching that I couldn\'t sleep at night.

The rash itself was bright red with small raised bumps. It seemed less itchy first thing in the mornings, but by evening would be unbearable. I had a \"crawling\" senseation on my skin and the itching would grow more and more intense until I finally broke down and scratched. After a few days of scratching the skin started to dry out. Thick flakes of skin began to peel off my elbows and the inflamed/scabby area beneath oozed slightly.

It did not seem to be contagious (or only very mildly so). It might have been spread around by my scratching, but I was living in very close living conditions with another person at the time, who did not develop any of the same symptoms.

I tried everything I could think of to relieve the itching. Cortizone cream which I occasionally use for mosquito bites did nothing. Antibiotic ointment did nothing. Cold water helped only a little. Salt water soaks didn\'t seem to help. Dillute apple cider vinegar rinses gave only a minute or two of respite, and dillute baking soda rinses made it burn as well as itch. Taking an antihistamine (loratadine 10mg) helped somewhat, providing enough relief for me to finally fall asleep in the evenings.

I was at the time temporarily working pretty far from home, so the first doctor I saw was at a nearby urgent care clinic. He took my temperature (normal) and blood pressure (good), took a look at the rash, and diagnosed it as folliculitus. He proscribed me an antibiotic (cephalexin 500mg to be taken 2 tablets 2x per day for 9 days), as well as a histamine-blocker (ranitidine 150 mg to be taken 1 tablet 2x per day), and told me I could also take an over-the-counter antihistamine (diphenhydramine HCl 25mg) before bed if I was still scratching too much to be able to fall asleep.

So for the next 9 days I took all the meds as prescribed and took a bath/soak with a cup of vinegar added to help relieve the itching every evening. The rash improved slightly over this time, but I was still itching intensely and scratching my arms bloody in my sleep overnight.

The week after finishing the antibiotic my itching slowly started worstening again.

Next I went to see a naturopathic physician. He gave me a tea tree oil salve to apply to the affected areas, homeopathic sulfer (200c), suggested I take baths with oatmeal or bentonite clay added, and reminded me to drink plenty of water to support my liver.

The tea tree oil salve helped enormously, but the itching would return in just a few hours and I had to reapply the salve 3-4 times a day for relief. Using it that frequently over pretty much my entire body quickly became almost prohibatively expensive, and was (of course) not covered by my insurance.

I went to my regular physician\'s office after returning home (at this point I\'ve been continuously itchy for 2 months now and I am miserable). She takes my temperature (normal) and blood pressure (good), looks at my rash and tells me Dr. #1 was a kook, it isn\'t folliculitus after all I just have an allergic response/auto-immune problem atopic dermatitus - probably eczema. She prescribes me with a medium strength steroid cream (triamcinolone cream 0.1%) and a stronger antihistamine (hydroxyzine HCL 50mg: taken 1 or 2 tablets at bedtime as needed for itching), and tells me to get a quality healing moisturizing lotion to use.

So I try that for awhile instead, but now I suddenly have an extremely itchy fluid-filled blister between two of my smaller toes, an itchy ring of rash on my buttocks again that now looks something like diaper rash, and a thick slightly yellowish vaginal discharge (not itchy or smelly or bothersome, just thicker and a little yellower than usual).

I start to think that doctors don\'t know a lot about itching disorders! From my own research about my mystery itching symptoms I wonder why no one has considered the possibility of a fungal skin infection. Antifungal cream burns when applied to my arms, so I start adding a small amount (1/4 cup) of bleach to a tub full of bathwater, making sure to rinse thoroughly and apply more tea tree oil creme afterwards. My rash goes away at last (yay!! ) but my skin still itches. I read about yeast infections of the skin and candida overgrowth, which sounds scarily similar to what I\'m experiencing, so a few days ago I also cut sugar and all processed foods out of my diet, just in case. Now I feel hungry all the time, even immediately after eating. The itching is getting way better, but now my stools are a light yellowish brown color - much softer than usual and they float. Could this be from the yeast \"die off\" symptoms that people talk about, or should I go get checked out for serious potential liver problems?

What in the world is wrong with me?

Carolina from Nyc, Ny, Usa writes: "Dear all, about a week ago I had the brilliant idea of buying a Tom\'s deodorant because they are natural. The first day I used it everything went well but I woke up with an awful rash in both armits. They are both burning, sensitive with red itchy patches and brown, dark areas around my armpits. What is worse is the fact that I developed a smell. Like a forest, deep, smelly smell. I could go without deodorant for days before this. I was never a smelly armpit person. Now I shower and wash my armits thorougly but the smell comes back right after I clean. I am mass producing it. I am scared. Today I put organic cold-pressed coconut oil under my arms out of despair. Do you have any ideas of what this may be or how can I cure it? Thanks in advance!

[YEA] Cjpknp from Ft. Myers, Fl writes: "When my son came home from a two week job in Tampa, he had contracted some sort of horrible itchy rash that was spreading from his knee area up and down his leg. Had he been home I would have started using grapefruit seed extract on it right away. At any rate, it was so far along he decided to go to the doctor for treatment with corticosteroids. Because I was worried about catching it from him, which I did because I was doing his laundry, I kept apple cider vinegar, grapefruit seed extract, lavender, and calendula ointment in my medicine cabinet, just in case. Well, sure enough, about a week after he came home I got a little spot on my leg that was very, very itchy. I immediately began a ritual of dousing it with apple cider vinegar, then a drop of grapefruit seed extract, then a drop of lavender and following up with a dot of calendula ointment. After 2 days it began to subside and the itching was gone. Whatever that stuff was that he brought home, it was tenacious!!

About 5 days later a tiny pinhead of a spot showed up on my hand between my index and middle finger. It itched like heck and I was really worried that I was going to have a huge outbreak like my sons. I began the same routine as before and after 2 days it began to subside. A week later, even though the little spot left a scar, it has not spread nor been a further bother.

I believe the routine of acv, gse, lavender and calendula kept it at bay and that one of these or all was a great contributor to that. In the past, when I have had small rashes break out like that, I have tried everything I knew at that time, such as calamine, benadryl, ivy stop, etc. And none of them ever kept it from spreading. It would always spread throughout my body and I would have to finally go to doc for something. They always prescribed prednisone. Yes, that would work, but I believe that that was one of the reasons I became adrenal fatigued. So, nowadays I try to avoid the use of steroids. It was on this site that I was able to figure out what might possibly be useful that was natural. I am grateful that this site is here and I hope this will help someone else make a useful determination for themselves.

D.c. from Arlington, Virginia writes: "Hi there! A couple of days ago, I noticed that I had a couple of bumps near my chin - they looked like tiny pimples. A few hours later, I saw bigger bumps under my looks which looked like small mosquito bites.

When I woke up yesterday, the right side of my face was covered in dots. It is concentrated near my chin but spreads from below my eyes to my chin. It is mostly on the right side but there are a few bumps on the left side. It is not itchy at all. In fact I didn\'t notice anything until I looked in the mirror.

I sleep on my left side so I don\'t think it\'s an issue with the pillowcase.

Could this be a food allergy? A reaction to sunscreen? I don\'t think it\'s acne because it appeared so suddenly and so dramatically.

The changes to my routine over the past few days:

- We spent the weekend at the beach and I used body sunscreen on my face.

- I ate scallops two nights in a row.

Other than that, everything has been the same. What recommendations do you have for eliminating this rash? Thanks!

[YEA] Sarah from Seattle, Wa writes: "I started breaking out in a rash all over my torso a month and a half ago. After two weeks of ineffectual colloidal oatmeal baths, rewashing all my laundry (twice! ) and a few days with groggy head from benadryl, I went to the doctor. She and the other doctor in residence had no idea what my rash was, nor did the resident skin specialist, nor did a dermatologist. Over the last month, I\'ve been scraped and poked, been given prednisone (for 20 days! ), perscription strength steroid creams, and all kinds of anti-histamines. All of this cost me tons of money -- I\'m an uninsured college student -- and nothing worked. The swelling would decrease for a few days, then nothing! In the meantime, the rash continued to grow and coalesce and spread to my breasts and legs. I stopped wearing undergarments (too painful! ) and couldn\'t sleep at night. The steroids gave me a vaginal yeast infection and made me so hungry all the time, I put on 12 pounds! Needless to say, I was absolutely miserable, itchy all the time, depressed and reduced to rubbing ice on my body. Finally, I googled \"cure for rash\" came here, and TA DAH!!!! In six days of treatment with ACV, I am COMPLETELY CURED.

I started with ACV from the grocery store. It was $5.00. I mixed 1/2 cup ACV with 1/2 cup water, grabbed a paper towel and dabbed it all over my body. It stung badly, but my rash was pretty itchy at the time. In literally TWO MINUTES, the swelling of my bumps decreased dramatically, so much so that I started taking pictures to send my mom.

I went to bed, woke up in the middle of the night itchy again, so I dabbed myself liberally again (it still stung), and the itching stopped again after about 2 minutes of hopping around and swearing. Thye next morning I woke up to a very diminished rash! Over the next three days, the big bumps flattened and dried. Then they started peeling and fading to nothing. The second day, I stopped dabbing with paper towels, and started taking 15 minute luke warm baths, morning and night, with about 4-5 cups of the good apple cider vinegar (_____\'s). I also got a spray bottle for any itching emergencies that came up during the day. After the thrid day, there haven\'t been any! The transformation has been so rapid and so remarkable that I went back to my doctor. She confessed she has pretty severe eczema, has been on steroid reams for a long time to very little use, and will now try ACV!

Thank you, so much, all the people who contributed their stories! If there hadn\'t been so many people who told of their success, I\'d never have tried it myself. I\'m a changed woman! And now, I\'m curious -- what other home remedies are there that I never knew about?

Below, I\'ve included my phone photos of the first days of treatment -- nothing explicit. This is the same area of rash over the course of four treatments, about two days worth. The rash goes from red and bumpy to almost completely flat and pink. The bumps also dried out, but not the skin around the rash. Three days later, the pink is faded, the itching is gone, and I\'m sleeping through the night!"

R from Knoxville, Tn writes: "I went to a dermatologist for this and he put me on antibiotics. It cleared it up but then he said \"now we just wait and see if it comes back and it usually does\". He said he had no idea what the cause was but that I would probably need stronger antibiotics when it comes back. About 6 months later it did. So I googled it and that\'s when I first learned about a little thing called \"candida overgrowth\". I went off grains and sugar and it cleared up immediately. I still eat some corn but stay away from sugar and wheat and that has kept the rash away. The info was so easy for me to find on the internet. I can\'t help but wonder why that dermatologist didn\'t know. It\'s his job right? Studied all about the skin in medical school, huh? But he still doesn\'t have a clue? Really?

[YEA] Moonshine from Bentonvillle, Ar. writes: "I have had a terrible rash that started 1 year ago. It started in my armpits, and moved under my breasts. It was like pimples that drained acid. Peeling layer after layer. I tried everything I could find. Then found article from Jim Hummel (mms). I think I got a computer virus from this one, but well worth it. He stated if mms does not help, or seems to make rash worse, than the treatment for it is 50/50 calcium bentonite clay/ vaseline. Mix together and spread over entire area every 8 hours for 1 week. Then a thin coat once a day for a month. If the rash is extremely bad, been there for awhile then you should take tbl. in water, daily for month as well. Sure I\'m greasy, and staying close to home for a month... But the pain and rash was gone in three days!

Ashly from New York, NY writes: "I discovered a red, bumpy, itchy rash on the back of my legs. I\'m pregnant and my skin has become super sensitive. I think this was some kind of allergic reaction to synthetic fibers in clothing.

Here is what finally cured the rash:

1. Grandpa\'s soap (coconut oil)

2. all natural aloe vera gel from a health store

3. ACV applied directly to skin

Drying the rash out helped way more than any moisture cream or lotion.

Here is what didn\'t help: Cortizone 10, A D ointment, Sarna cream, poison ivy cream, diaper rash cream, Aveno oatmeal bath, and prescription steroid cream.

After showering with Grandpa\'s Soap, I applied pure Apple Cider Vinegar to the rash. It burned a little from me scratching, but about an hour later, I felt okay. I slept through the night and the next morning, the rash was 50% better! I could not believe it! I continued using ACV in the morning and evening after bathing with the soap. It\'s been 2 weeks and my rash is completely cured!

Pyroluriac from Alamogordo, Nm writes: "My husband has an intractable rash. It started years ago in his feet and on his hands, the tops only never on the soles or palms. The places are larger where it started and smaller where it spreads, but given time they get big too. There is no other pattern I can see. It is extremely itchy, gets worse with heat and better with cold. Contact with raw shrimps or fish make it flare up angrily. Also any lotion or cream with any essential oil will do that too. We are trying the borax and peroxide cure for mange or demodicosis, and he is now all dry and tight and sore. The places have turned hard and red. He is awakened itching at 3 to 5 am relentlessly. Also some at other times also. We are scared. It is now reaching up around his trunk and near his neck. The dumbass dermatologist told him he had dry skin and told him to soak in a tub, then sent the bill for almost 200 dollars. I hope someone has a clue. I'm out of ideas.

What could this be from? Four days ago she had slapped face but did not complain at all about any pain. When the toes are touched it is a little painful.

Rigoha from London, Ontario, Canada writes: "I am needing some assistance with my skin disorder. In June of this year , my body took on a bacteria infection from a hot tub. I went to the western medicine doctor after trying to handle it naturally. I was given the sulpha drug , and after 5 days I took areaction to that drug. I went to infection specialist after , and much to my surprise he couldn't assist. After the last appointment I was FRUSTRATED!!! . I started acupuncture September 5th approx, I have been able to reduce the itchiness and hive like skin bumps, with some huge and some little changes.

This week I have come to Fort Myers, Florida, and after two days of being in the wonderful sun, my skin has once again exploded with the same bumps. I stayed completely out of the sun for one day, the skin calmed but still itchy and obviously noticable bumps still present. I am interested in hearing what the website has to say.. Any input is appreciated. I am not sure where to turn to next....
