WHAT CAN BE DONE FOR NAIL PSORIASIS?

01/28/2012: Catherine from Carrickfergus, N.ireland writes: "Hi, firstly may I say that this site is amazing. I have visited and registered with other sites regarding psoriasis but they have not been as informative as this one. Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about helping NAIL psoriasis - I have had this for about 7 years - all my fingernails are affected and I have lost them twice and they are quite bad at the moment. I also have psoriasis on my two big toe nails and as a last resort, I had them removed. With my nail P there is also a green discharge which comes from under the nails - having my toenails removed didnt help this as this 'stuff' still builds up under the skin and is painful - I have to release this to ease the pain.

I have tried various remedies over the years to no avail. Anybody got any ideas?? Any help would be really appreciated. By the way, when my P first started, I used to have it on my shins as well but my skin is quite good with only small patches on various parts of my body."

PSORIASIS AND MACROBIOTIC DIET

12/23/2011: Anonymous from Libya writes: "Dear Ted, I have Psoriasis for over 6 years now (all over my legs/elbows). I started taking 1/2 tsp Baking Soda in 1/2 glass water for one week now with no visible improvements yet, from now on I will switch to the Baking Soda/lemon remedy hoping it will work at some point.

Ted, could you pls tell me if the Baking Soda remedy will cure my psoriasis at some point hopefully.

I read some posts where you thanked those who write more details, I thought to explain further. Anyways regarding my psoriasis, I wanted to share with you that I was almost cured, by following macrobiotics diet, not so strict; however it's philosophy in general. Unfortunately after I followed the diet for 2 months and all my psoriasis spots were smaller patches as if it's disappearing, however I was captured and jailed by the Qaddafi forces for some days and after that I was in the rebels camp where we eat whatever is available, and I started smoking as well, I guess it was the stress, and then my psoriasis started flaring again, this period is around 5 months of unhealthy food.

Then thanks God, the country was free from the Tyrant and his troops, so I returned to my house where I started weight training and tried the GOMAD diet, which is basically a gallon of Milk a day, and that's for high protein and calories in order to build muscles fast and put on mass quick, it worked, however the psoriasis went crazy and the spots multiplied by 3, the worst I've seen in 8 years, I had like 10 small patches on both legs and with so much milk consumption I have no like 40 spots different sizes, almost all of my legs are covered, terrible, so obviously it was a crazy thing to follow the GOMAD diet, now I know!!!

Now I am back with Macrobiotics as when I did it a year ago (I stopped smoking by the way), I eat Whole Wheat 150g boiled in the morning with 1 TBS of honey for flavor, otherwise it doesn't taste that good, also I have 2 meals of brown rice for lunch and dinner and that's with whole beans and veggies usually. Also on the days that I train (3 times per week) I have one can of Tuna and fresh organic eggs from my backyard hens. I also have oven cooked peanuts 200g everyday for protein and calories when I train.

This did work for me a while back as explained, I did follow it strictly, however sometimes I socially eat fast foods with friends, it took around 2-3 months to see very good progress last time, I don't know if psoriasis has anything to do with Candida, or maybe PH imbalance, or maybe something else, however from my experience I think it's definitely the PH and probably Candida, because 4 years ago I had a saliva PH test for fun and it was 6. 4, now I believe that's really acidic, however one could argue that it was done by a PH paper so it's not so accurate, and also I smoked back then which makes the mouth acidic anyways, however I believe in the PH theories and many other theories. My diet has no white pasta, no bread, no sugar, nothing processed and just natural whole food.

I know most of you would think if I already know the cure, why am I asking, well we keep learning in this life day by day, so I just wanted Ted to give us his input on psoriasis, also some encouragement now and then is good, and I wanted to know if Baking Soda makes the healing process quicker. Living with psoriasis is not a funny thing trust me.

Anyhow I hoped you could answer the following:
1. If I follow the diet mentioned above with Baking Soda and lemon remedy included, do you think this will cure psoriasis?
2. Can I take Whey protein supplements when weight training, or is it too acid forming or maybe bad for the kidneys?
3. Could you pls explain some more on Psoriasis and post a remedy on this site for others to follow as well?
4. I have been diagnosed with Varicocele and I am planning to have an operation, basically they would insert a catheter and obstruct the veins, should I go ahead and do it, or is there a cure for this as well?
5. What do you think of Macrobiotics?

Thanks really for the efforts put and hope all humanity will reach a point that they would be able or have the knowledge to cure themselves by themselves.

Peace from Libya."

01/13/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "You posed several questions, they are as follows:
1. Yes, in a few cases it did, but that is without dairy products, sugar, white flour and processed foods. You also needed borax to bathe (or solutions of them) on the skin, or you can get B3 niacinamide 10% mixed in some water and apply to the skin. The psoriasis is almost always a fungus.

2. In healthy people it does not harm the kidneys by more protein, but it does harm if your urine pH is acidic, generally it was the sugar or artificial sugar added that was causing most of the harm in the kidneys.

3. The simplest remedy is to take B3 500 mg of niacinamide, taken at night, and if you don't get sleepy, 100 mg to 250 mg of niacinamide 3 times a day. Soap makes the condition of psoriasis much worse, and sugar you know that, so I replace soap with borax remedy to use as soap. If you don't have that, then some sea salt and baking soda used as soap will do. You have to alkalize with at least 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda twice a day after meals, mixed in one cup of water. It helps if sea salt is taken in morning 1/4 teaspoon. Do not substitute with table salt, it's not the same, they're acidic. A more advance remedy is sodium molybdate, ammonium chloride, potassium citrate, but most cannot find supplies locally.

4. The problems with that is lifelong replacement with catheter. You might clear the obstructions of the veins with bromelain 10% 1/2 teaspoon taken 3 times a day, in a glass of water. It takes between 1 to 2 months to clear the obstructed veins that way.

5. Its good, and I do see some results, the problem is cancer requires you to control blood sugar for both psoriasis and cancer too. The normal blood sugar, and I don't used today's standards, which are based on "averages" of healthy people at the same time that we have rampant obesity, so we have skewed averages, the only normal blood sugar is below 90 mg/dL. The averages being approximately 85 mg/dL.

01/15/2012: Anonymous replies: "Dear Ted, Thanks a lot for your reply! Some other earth clinic user, has said that she tried Syntol for three months (9 caps/day 1st month, 6 caps/day 2nd month, 3 caps/day 3rd month), also with not using sugar and eating healthy, she said that she cleared psoriasis completely. Which confirms as well that it's definitely a fungus.

What do you think of using Syntol for removing the fungus and treating psoriasis.? I am planning to try this, however I will still take the niacinamide 500mg, and 1/4 baking soda with water. It's worth mentioning here that I have already tried 1/2 tsp baking soda 3 times a day, and often lemon with water for alkalizing, however the only improvement I saw was the ease on the itching, but not any psoriasis withdrawal signs, which got me worried.

What's your thoughts on the above? Thanks again for all your help."

01/16/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Yes Syntol may also help, as it contains digestive enzymes, probiotics, etc. But you have to understand that digestive enzymes and prebiotics, rather than probiotics are useful. The prebiotics are giving the intestinal favorable to probiotics is more favorable for beneficial bacteria. The enzymes that will aid digestion can contain any elements, but the most important is the bromelain has been proven most useful, there might be others. So it doesn't have to be Syntol.

Hydrogen peroxide 3% one capful plus 1/4 teaspoon of borax in one liter to one point five of water drink as drinking water is also helpful too, sodium molybdate, also kills the psoriasis, as will copper chlorophyllin of any amount. What the hydrogen peroxide does do is it kills the fungus in the bloodstream but its effect is not long lasting and that's why it is drank throughout the day, or small sips every 30 minutes (preferably) to maximum of one hour. There's a lot you can do to kill it, such as MSM, 5 times a day will help also.

Whenever you have B3 niacinamide it kill them quietly, so there is no problems about any psoriasis withdrawal problems, and it can be taken throughout the day at 250 mg x 3 and night time 500 mg. Before you sleep is the simplest way, the other is hydrogen peroxide. I also found reishi mushroom is useful as is methylene blue 0.1% at 4 to 6 drops twice a day, on an empty stomach in morning and in evening. There are many ways to kill the psoriasis of fungus.

01/17/2012: Anonymous replies: "Dear Ted, I believe now most of us psoriasis sufferers would understand more about the solutions to our problem.

However, there is only one more thing to ask, which is the cure time. I understand that everybody is different and that every person reacts different to different things philosophy, however the range wouldn't be that much out. For example, as I said the nice lady that suggested Syntol, said that 3 months would be enough to clear the problem for good, but of course after that you would need to be careful not to fall in the same trap again, by alkalizing and eating as healthy as possible.

So in your case, how long would you think would be a good time period to take the niacinamide 500mg option? I decided to give this a try first, (I mean before trying the Syntol option), since I feel niacinamide is more friendly than Syntol, I have this theory of mine that I don't like taking any medicine at all from drug stores, for example right now I am suffering from a cold/sinusitis (not severe), and usually modern medicine would suggest antibiotics, however for the last 4 years now, I only treat myself by taking sea salt with water orally + fresh lemon juice + lots of garlic, taking sea salt in water solution for nose mucus relief is beneficial as well, anyways I just wanted to mention this small story to say that for the past 15 years I was using antibiotics and that most probably is what caused psoriasis in the first place.

Therefore knowing some time frame would be good, to make us sufferers be patient., pls advise how long for niacinamide, would it be 2-3 months? Thanks in advance and hope to hear from you soonest."

01/24/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Two things will help the sinusitus, allergy, and psoriasis the most, niacinamide 500 mg in evening taken orally, but for psoriasis it may be applied topically. The sea salt is a common one, for that too, but the most effective is sodium thiosulfate to help the psoriasis, as it is usually a fungus, and as always is not helped much with soaps and shampoos, it actually worsens the problem. The use of borax is used as a soap instead to help as well as sodium thiosulfate too, I suspect a sodium molybdate deficiency in psoriasis, allergy sufferers, and this is a common addition to my remedy too, but its availability is limited in the States.

LAOS BOY WITH PSORIASIS

01/14/2009: Jaques from Brighton, England writes: "Ted, my son is married to a Laos woman whose nephew has really bad psoriasis on his leg, in the small village where he lives there are only dirt roads, so he has to be careful where he plays, he is 8 yrs old and his parents had been given medication from a chinese doctor but have no money to continue buying this. I know ACV can work for this condition but hes only 8 and also i dont think it can be obtained in Laos, even in Vientiane, the capital, i remember you said you cant get it in Thailand and that you used lemon - have you any suggestions what this boy's parents could use that could be bought locally and cheaply, they would be so grateful, thank you. Jaques"

01/15/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "A plain distilled White vinegar applied to the legs would usually do fine. It's applied to the area with a small towel (face towel) soaked in white distilled vinegar for 30 minutes. It's done in for a couple of days and should be gone. In Southeast Asian country, the psoriasis is often a fungus condition. The other thing is just to eat more fish to the diet. It appears to be also low on omega 3 diet. Laos do have white distilled vinegar and fish. I would love to see baking soda, taken internally, such as 1/4 teaspoon usually in 1/3 glass of water for children. Alkalization increases the immune system. There are other remedies, but this is the easiest to obtain. If a white distilled vinegar is not found (I doubt that) a lemon juice is a suitable substitute, applied to the area too, but may sting.

01/16/2009: Jaques from Brighton, England replies: "Thank you so much Ted, i will email this information to my son who will go to the boys home soon and hopefully they will take your advice and try this for the young boy....."

01/16/2009: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "If things aren't working out, most drug stores in Thailand, and maybe Laos have a bottle of Milk of Magnesia (where labeled magnesium hydroxide only) has really helped with psoriasis too. The milk of magnesia is applied to the area of the skin externally several times a day over a wide area.

PSORIASIS SUFFERER FOR TEN YEARS

09/16/2008: Bereket from Asmara, Eritrea writes: "Sorry, with my english but I believe you can understand what I mean.. I have suffered with psorises for more than ten years . I have used Divonex,Diprosalic,Hidrogen per oxide but it doesn't work infact it cools down but i haven't gain full health. I have been suffering with psorises please give me your advice what I better to do. And i want to know what is the main couse of psorises Thanks.."

09/16/2008: Alex from Boston, MA replies: "Hello everyone. Thank you so much for this great website! I am replying to the post by Bereket from Asmara, Eritrea regarding psoaris. Bereket, I too suffer from psoriasis and here are a few things that have been very helpful, as far as treatment goes. I take borax and sea salt in water, do oil pulling and take grapefruit seed oil in water. I take 1/8 teaspoon (tiny amount) of borax and 1/8 teaspoon of sea salt with water, mix it with about 1 liter of water and drink it throughout the day, 5 days out of 7. Also, I do oil pulling every other day with 1 tablespoon of sesame oil and 2 drops of oregano, neem and clove oil. When it is too itchy, I use a little bit of diluted oregano, clove or manuka oil topically. As other posters have pointed out, please be very careful when dealing with essential oil, they are incredibly concentrated and can burn skin, ALWAYS diluted first. Finally, I put 4 drops of grapefruit seed oil in a glass of water and take it 3 times a day (total of 12 drops a day). I hope this helps."

09/20/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To Bereket from Eritrea & Alex from Boston: Hi Guys, I don't have the psoriasis problem so never had the occasion to check it out, but Adele Davis (nutritionist) had the theory that psoriasis was caused by faulty fat metabolism and her recommendation to counteract it was that well known fat emulsifier called lecithin. I believe that her recommendation was 6 tablespoons of the lecithin granules per day."

3 YEAR OLD GRANDSON WITH ITCHY SKIN DISORDER

08/10/2008: Sandy from Henderson, NV writes: "My grandson, age 3 has a dry and terribly itchy skin disorder. Will Apple Cider Vinegar, when applied to his skin heal this problem, or relieve it substantially?

Thank you."

08/12/2008: Joyce from Joelton, Tn replies: "To Sandy from Henderson: Yes, Sandy, applying ACV to itchy areas usually relieves the itching. My suggestion is to put a cup of ACV in his bath water (to relieve the itching & also protect from bug bites) and then try leaving off any soap, bubble baths, etc. because it may be the soap that is drying his skin and causing the itching. In most cases, the soap isn't really needed. All you really need for cleanliness is just some good old water and a washcloth. If he doesn't itch while you are omitting soap, you will know that you have found the cause. You will also find that you like the way he smells without the soap better than with the soap. I learned this from a little lady in her 60's about 30 years ago. She told me "My daddy was a chemist and he always told us that if you didn't use soap, you won't need deoderants because soap makes you stink. I stopped using soap (except for handwashing) in l982 and I found her daddy was right. Your sweat doesn't smell either, and you don't have that fishy odor all the EC users who complain of BV. Also decreases most of the foot odors too."

HIMALAYAN VS. DEAD SEA SALT FOR SOLE

03/14/2008: Dave from Winnipeg, Canada writes: "This is a question I see much about making "Sole" and drinking with water every morning. The recipe always calls for Himalayan Salt. Can this be done with dead sea salt?

Signed,
Had enough of this Psoriasis."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "

Dead sea salt or Himalayan sea salt works about the same. The key to make it work better is to add drops of H2O2 3% per 1/2 glass of water at about 5-10 drops. Usually a psoriasis can be helped further by adding a small amount of baking soda too. Mine was helped by just taking 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda and 1/4 teaspoon of sodium carbonate (washing soda) in 1/2 glass of water taken three times a day for a couple of day and it just disappeared too. Sea salt kills the pathogens by salinity but interestingly most sea salt are alkaline anyway.

As for me I don't use Dead sea salt and Himalayan sea salt that often and I just used a local Thai sea salt and it works fine too, but that's perhaps I added some 3% H2O2 to the mix, such as 10 drops per glass of water in a sea salt solution."

IMMUNE FUNCTIONING

05/31/2007: M.C. from LV, NV writes: "Ted, I have had psoriasis since i was 16. I within the last two years have it on my hands and feet as well as nail fungus. I attribute this worsening to my recent separation and divorce from my husband (not by my choice). My hair was thinning and falling out mostly in the front of my head. I went into early menopause at 37 years old and I am now 47. I get hot flashes after eating any carbs. I exercise 4 times a week cardio and weights. I weigh 110 and i'm 5' 3" tall. I was diagnosed with osteopenia a while ago but it never progressed I was taking natural progesterone cream from the health food store. I quit taking it when my hair started to fall out and i had started to feel bad. I'm gaining weight around my mid-section and my real concern is I have this feeling that something is on the left side of my throat, I have a little difficulty swallowing no pain though and I have to cough or clear my throat often an I have a slight hoarseness in my voice which has lasted for over a month. I take glcosamin and choindroiten, coral calcium, Vit B complex, B-12, zinc magnesium, vit. a, folic acid, I take every so often flax, borage and evening primrose and fish oil. I also once in awhile use acv on my salads. I eat mostly raw salads and occasionally cooked veggies with some fish and once in a while eat some chicken etc. Could I have an enlarged thyroid? Are the things i'm taking affecting my immune system. Also for about 10 years from the age of 25 to 35 I had ulcerative colitis but I finally figured out that my diet had alot to do with that, my doctor denied it. I quit pasteurized milk and sugar and sodas. I do drink raw unadulterated milk which for some reason helps my psoriasis. What can i do for all this. Sounds like alot. Thank you. Plus what can i do to prevent the effects of antibiotics before cosmetic surgery?"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Thyroid is a problem, but so is adrenal exhaustion Sorry about the time taking to answer this, but the hair thinning problem have to do with suppressed immune system, as certain microbes blocks the glandular functions. Vitamin B complex need not be taken everyday since certan B6 is a hydrochloride, and becomes acid forming. The best with that is to take only twice a week. The most important issue appears to be to raise the immune system, by alkalization or get urinary pH of 7. there are three possible remedies, the most simplest ones is the 1/4 teaspoon of baking soda in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day once in the morning and once before bedtime. The other issue is the heavy metal accumulation which was not considered, but a big factor to microbial growth such as taking chlorella capsules once a day 5 days out of 7. The hair thinning appears to be reduced iodine in the body and manganese that causes the hair thinning issues. Iodine supplements ideally can come from Kelp, taken 4 or 5 days out of a week. Micromineral imbalances appears to be likely, so add 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt plus a tiny pinch of baking soda, such as 1/16 teaspoon to 1 liter of drinking water to correct that.

Historical ulcerative colitis appears to be a magnesium deficiency, but you did mention taking, so that was helpful. Gaining weight around the mid-section appears to be electrolyte imbalance, hormonal problems due to adrenal exhaustion. Alkalizing will help reduce some of the midsection from ACV+baking soda, or just baking soda slowly. Usually taking some sea salt will reduce water balance by restoring electrolyte imbalances. Pomegranate fruits will help reduce that too by taking care of the kidneys as well as being a diuretic. If taken together with Alpha lipoic acid 100 and DHEA 25 mg (only twice weekly or once a week dose) should help restore the problem of the midsection issue too. In my case, it was very helpful. Adrenal exhaustion issues can be helped with licorice extract one or two tablespoon, perhaps 2 or 3 times a week as it helps some glandular recovery. I have seen people with urinary pH of below 6 to have problems of water retention and raising them seems to reduce this problem.

prevent the effects of antibiotics before cosmetic surgery

Cosmetic surgery can leave infections and scars, so getting the body alkalize enough should at least help the healing as it raises the body's overall immune system. Consider taking chlorella supplements to counterbalance the negative effects of heavy metal accumulation caused by antibiotics. Also, most antibiotics are acid forming, and it is important that baking soda, or alkalizing is used to neutralize the acid."
