MULTIPLE REMEDIES

[YEA] 11/06/2010: Marlane Ellis from Geelong, Victoria - Australia writes: "Hi my husband has had an enlarged prostate for the past 3 months. It finally got to the stage where he was urinating every 30 minutes with very weak flow. At night he was having to urinate every 30 minutes to an hour. After 3 months he was exhausted and obviously stressed out. He was taking prostate eze (max) alternating with Prostate complex and Prostate Plus. Nothing was helping. 2 weeks ago I decided that enough was enough so I went on the attack. It was either that, medication and/or hospital. He took Ibuprofen for 5 days to reduce the swelling.
On day 5 he took 300mg of Beta Sistosterol, 25mg Zinc, 300mg Q10, Resveratrol, Vit B complex, Alpha Lipoic Acid and 1000mg of Vit. D. in the morning and 1 of the prostate tabs at night. He has done that for the past 2 weeks. The difference is incredible. The Ibuprophen reduced the swelling within 24 hours (it pays to use it very sparingly, long term use is dangerous) while the beta sitosterol increased the flow within 24 hours to what is normal for him. 6 weeks on and he is a totally different man. At 70 years old he is still working as a construction manager, climbing stairs and walking on scaffolding, he swears he hasn't been this well since his 30's. Cheers, marlane ellis. Geelong"
Replies11/07/2010: Anon from Anon, Usa replies: "Hi Marlane. Glad this is working for your husband. I would like to add that maybe some elevation of the bed might help as well (for the getting up in the middle of the night several times a night to go to bathroom) You can accomplish this by placing say maybe two bricks or a concrete block, really anything (books, boards, etc. )to raise the head board of the bed 3 to 6 inches off the floor. This is a type of incline bed therapy and has been used by some to reduce the amount going to urinate through out the night."
11/09/2010: Marlane Ellis from Geelong, Victoria - Australia replies: "Hi anon thanks for your post. My husband is completely well now he sleeps through the night and has no problems at all urinating, I am convinced it was the Beta Sitosterol. His urine flow returned to normal within 48 hours of taking it for the first time. Although the other nutrients like the Q10 etc. Must have helped. Anyway thank you for your interest, I just hope we never have to go through that again. If we do at least I know how to deal with it. Cheers and take care. Marlane"

PSYLLIUM

[YEA] 03/05/2008: Sharon from Ann Arbor, MI writes: "Due to multiple food and gluten allergies, I've had a history of both constipation, and more recently chronic diarrhea. Psyllium capsules taken at night with a full glass of water, or between meals with a full glass of water has been a lifesaver. I find starting with 2 capsules a day of psyllium husk, then working up gradually by adding 1 or 2 capsules a day to a total of about 10 taken in divided doses of 2 or 3 at a time between meals with lots of water gives no symptoms of gas, bloating, or bad breath. After a week or two of this I usually back off to a small maintenaince dose of 3 capsules, which is about 2 grams of total additional fiber a day.
Unexpected side effects for me included the complete relief of menopausal type hormone flucuations and hot flashes because of the fact that the fiber binds to excess hormones like estrogen and escorts them safely out of the system before they can have side effects. For this reason I would recommend it to anyone who was suffering from hormone related cancers including prostate. It may also help in chemo therapy to bind to the toxins of the drugs that are used and to help remove dead cancer cells from the body. Also pysllium can be a lifesaver when a bout of food poisoning or flu occurs because it binds with the toxins that are the byproduct of the offending bad virus or bacterias. For ANY use of pysllium husks , make sure that after your body becomes healthy and regular, see if you can't wean down on the number of capsules you take by substituting high amounts of quality fruit and vegtables into your diet, then let your body have a complete pysllium break and see how you do. You may have fixed the problem. For some of us who are allergic to many grains we just can't get enough fiber into our normal diet and need to add a little extra. Another help has been to add additional enzymes like bromelain and papaya, to the diet to help properly break down foods and repair intestinal damage. It is important to note that pysllium is NOT a laxative and that your body does not develope a dependency on it, but it DOES bind to vitamins, minerals, and medicines so for that reason is best taken on an empty stomach at leaast 2 hours after food or medicine is ingested, and at least an hour before you eat again.
VERY IMPORTANT: Drink at least one extra 8 oz. glass of water for every 2 capsules taken!"

PUMPKIN SEEDS

[YEA] 08/19/2006: Anonymous from California writes: "Pumpkin seeds (green, raw, no shells), sometimes sold as product Spanish name "Pepitas", ' increase time between urinations due to an enlarged prostate condition. Also prevents getting up in the night to urinate. I had an estimated 30 min. to 40 min. between urination needs due to my enlarged prostate, about an hour if seated during that time. In the "Green Pharmacy" natural cures book, I learned that taking a small handful (approx. 2-3 Tablespoons) of the raw green pumpkin seeds increased my bathroom urination visits to 1 hour or 1 1/2 hours. The longer times when I tend to be seated at work or driving. Two years ago when I took a Teachers entrance qualifying test, I was able to sit through four hours of testing without getting up! I found that in about five days of initially taking pumpkin seeds, I didn't have to get up at night to use the bathroom. I had been getting up once or twice a night, but now I sleep through the night. I was taking medication, but it had undesirable side affects. I stopped taking the medication, I see an urologist every six months, but my PSA still goes up periodically - I've had two episodes of tissue sampling. The benefit of medication is that you have an increased urination flow, unfortunately you don't get that benefit with pumpkin seeds, and there are no side affects with pumpkin seeds. You must take them daily or the benefits cease in a few days. My urologist is aware of my use of pumpkin seeds and no medication. I am grateful to the Green Pharmacy book for this information - giving me a bit of relief. My friends who where skeptical have also benefited by not getting up at night and getting a good nights sleep."

09/29/2010: Judee from Philadelphia , Pa writes: "This is a question for Ted,
I have been following the Earth Clinic for many years and have learned alot. My husband started to have blood in his urine. It lasted about a week. Then it started to clot and block his urination which necessitated hospital intervention. After a cat scan and surgery, the urologist has no idea where the bleeding is coming from. He is guessing my husband's enlarged prostate.
3 questions- any thoughts where the bleeding may be coming from? How to stop it? How to keep clots from blocking the urine flow? Thanks for any insight."

Replies09/20/2010: Tom from Regina, Sk replies: "Petelg:For decades the usual response was something like "pumpkin seeds (partially due to the Zinc)", or "pygeum", or "saw palmetto berries", but in the past decade or so it's been recognized by many very progressive docs like Dr. Jon Wright etc. That it's really a natural compound called "beta sitosterol", present in fact in puny percentages in those very same berries. It's not cheap, relative to say a basic alphabet vitamin, but neither is it terribly expensive, because 1 capsule contains the amount found in 2 pounds of berries! There's huge amounts of info, research, and retailers on the net for this.
Here's one with clinical research results from Europe:

[QUESTION] 04/02/2010: Pjjp75 from Chicago, Il, U.s.a. writes: "Does anyone know of a natural way to shrink the prostate gland?"
Replies04/02/2010: Rob from Manhattan, New York replies: "For mild-to-moderate BPH, benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Take Saw Palmetto as an extract standardized to aound 90% total fatty acids twice a day; this should help reduce the size of the gland in about four to six weeks. Other things that may help...Stinging Nettle, Selenium & Pumpkin Seed Oil."
04/14/2010: Tom from Regina, Sk replies: "I don't have a prostate problem (yet), so this reply is more to add suggestions for a supplement or two I see not mentioned for BPH (enlarged prostate with its woes):
1. beta-sitosterol; recognized really over the past decade only, it's supposedly far more potent than saw palmetto! Just do a Search " BPH prostate beta sitosterol".
Here is one Search result mentioning b-sterol:
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20091214071317AAHEyO5
2. Iodine; the prostate has more than its share of iodine receptors, and iodine is one trace nutrient that over 95% of everyone is short of.
Search using well known names in Iodine research like Dr. Abraham, Dr. Brownstein, Dr. Derry (Victoria, BC), etc."

01/02/2010: Stephen from Bronx, Ny, USA writes: "Prostate Question, I need help
Hey guys im 23yrs old and over this last summer i had a urinary tract infection. I went on 2 courses of antibiotics and got rid of the infection but still had the symptoms. So my doctor sent me to a urologist and I did every test imaginable. He said everything felt fine and everything looked great from my CT scan. But i still get an annoying dribbling after I pee and have frequent pelvic pain. This feeling really disocourages me. I have gone to accupunture and has helpt some but I always wind up back to feeling terrible again. Right now im taking some prostate health pill that contains saw pawmetto and nettele root and i am also taking a probiotic. But like I said I still have these symptom. Can someone educate me more on some more possibilities.
Thank You for whatever consideration you can give to me,
Steve"
02/01/2010: Bob from Brisbane, Australia replies: "you could try calcium hypochorite powder .. it is cheap and easily purchased from your local pool chemical shop. A google search on Jim Humble will bring up further details . I gave the info to a friend, he has had an infection on his arm causing a lot of discomfort and Drs have tried treating it for over 8 years ... it was completely healed in just over a week. His brother has prostate problems and he has started using it with good results, Do some research first, according to Jim Humble he first used it to treat Prostate cancer with great success"
09/09/2010: Jonadoug from White Lake, Mi, Usa replies: "To Stephen from Bronx NY:You may have Bacterial Prostatitis. It causes pain in the prostate and also can cause swelling, which will lend itself to pain from bowel movements and/or urine in the bladder. From what I read online about it, it takes 4-6 weeks of strong antibiotics, so maybe the antibiotics you took for a UTI did not do the trick. Now I self diagnosed the condition and have fought off bouts of it (seemingly) with lots of ACV and lemon juice- trying to make my urine acidic when I thought I had a UTI. Hope this offers some guidance."

05/02/2009: Tim from Los Angeles, Ca writes: "Hi there. Thanks for the good work. Question: Can one take 10 oz water + 2 ts ACV + 1/4 ts of Baking Soda + half a lemon juice all together? Are there any reasons one would take or should not take them all together? Can I use 100% lemon juice in bottle, or should I always use fresh lemon/lime?
What can I take for chronic prostate inflammation? I am 54 and my ph is about 5.3. I eat pretty healthy; a lot of vegetables and fruits, use coconut oil as salad dressing, no drinking, no smoking, some coffee, some dairy, little meat, some chicken and pork, rice, potatoes and a lot of water.
Thank you very much for any advice. Tim"

SAW PALMETTO

09/18/2010: Maria from Gippsland, Vic. Australia writes: "Hi, My husband was suffering night urination and went to the Drs. for the recomended PSA test. The Dr said they were not reliable and did not want to do one. Symptoms did not go away so started him on Saw Palmetto Berries Herbal Supplement. Within days the symptoms were gone. On the days he missed his night dose he again got up. Three months later if a dose or two is missed still no nightly getting up. I believe we got a good quality one that only has saw palmetto berries (600mg), gelatin, medium chain triglycerides, vitamin E & rosemary oil as the only ingredients. My hubby took the recomended dose of three capsules a day. We found this a cheap and effective remedy (cost us approx. USD$5 for a month, plus postage of course). Love this site, Thanks."

[YEA] 01/20/2008: KEN from RIVERSIDE, CALIFORNIA writes: "At 40 I starting using Saw Palmetto for BPH, benign prostatic hypertrophy (enlargement of the prostate) to control the life altering affects of not being able to urinate and feeling like you have to pee all the time. I have had genital herpes since 1983 or so. I had stress related outbreaks 1-2 times a month for 2o years. healing time about a week. I noticed, how could I not notice that I have had only 1 very small fast heeling (1day) painfree outbreak in 18 months. I take 450 mg once a day in the morning. I also have oral herpes, oh that is embarrassing to say the least. About six months ago I started using an online product from healing natural oils. www. amoils. com I would also get stress related outbreaks on my lips about once a month, with 1-2 weeks to heal. I rub the oil under my feet twice a day. I would always get an out break after being outside all day. Now I have a high stress outbreak about every 6 months, it does not turn into a blister and heals in 24 hours. No unsightly sores to embarrass me in public. I never get an outbreak after being outdoors or camping. I used saw palmetto a year before using the oil, so I know that the saw palmetto worked for me. Hope someone finds this helpful."

[YEA] 09/07/2007: John from Mount Washington, USA writes: "I can't recall how I came across this, but Saw Palmetto supplemental capsules work great for BPH. Common directions are 2 caps in the morning and 2 in the evening. I mentioned this to my father who told me he had already been taking Saw Palmetto for years to keep from having to get up during the night to urinate. Upon more research, I found that Saw Palmetto is a DHT blocker. DHT is what causes hair loss. I was getting a thin spot in my crown when I started taking Saw Palmetto. Six months to a year later, my wife asked if I was using Rogaine! I asked why and she said she noticed I no longer had a thin spot. I again mentioned this to my father and he increased his dosage. At 75 years old, he has noticed his hair becoming thicker. Hope this helps everyone."

SAW PALMETTO, ZINC

[NAY] 02/01/2010: Thomas from Huntington, Ny writes: "Hi:
I have continous chronic prostatitis. I have used saw palmetto and zinc. Any other suggestions?
Tom"
09/03/2010: Jason from Levittown, Ny replies: "I was wondering how you were doing Tom because I am also from Long Island and have recently been diagnosed with prostatitis but have had mild symptoms for a long time. It wasn't until the pain was so bad I went had to go to ER. Since then I went on Cipro for 3 weeks which helped right away but tore my stomach and mind apart. I still have symptoms and my urologist told me to live with it completely unaware how it feels. One thing that really helped was apple cider vinegar. I drink 3 glasses of water a day with 2 tblspoons of ACV a day. At first I was drinking a lot more but the better I feel the less I drink. I noticed it made me feel good and gave me energy. I also quit smoking marijuana which was a major trigger because every time I got high I would have symptoms right away. I also take saw palmetto but I don't think its very effective as a relief of pain but more of a preventive measure. I also changed my diet drastically. No red meat, more fish and vegatables. Diet is very important. I also try to eat almonds everyday because it's my understanding the prostate needs zinc so foods high in zinc are good for men. I also gave up coffee and alcohol. I also used to wear tight jeans but believe me I won't be wearing those anymore. I also took a super probiotic to reverse the damage of the cipro. I also take cayenne pepper and most recently I am trying serrapeptase and immune boosters until my immune system heals from years of smoking pot and drinking and can fight bacterial infections again. Everyone thinks I am crazy but I truly feel better and its been only a month since I had to go to ER. Stress is also a big factor so I will be trying St. John's wort in the future and trying to melt away stress with foot rubs, sauna trips, good sleep, and learning new ways to tackle stressful situations. Perhaps even go to a psychologist. This is a rough thing to deal with and it's a shame that there isn't an easy well known cure but on the brighter side at least I am finally taking my health into my own hands and making responsible better decisions in the face of criticism. So anyway if you haven't figured this out yet you need to figure out the triggers and eliminate them for a while and maybe re-introduce them slowly and keep them in moderation. And if you are doing well I would love to know what worked for you!"

VIBRATOR HELP

Time and time again my doctor told me to have MORE sex. Couldn't convince her though. I have taken every drug out there to try and alleviate the problem. Two remedies have caught my attention. "First," the Vibrator? That sounds a bit Kinky, but if it work? Why the heck not? I need relief now! So tell me, how often would one use the vibrator and for how long to totally cure this inflection?
"Second," is the apple Cider Vinegar. What dosage was used (ie: teaspoons, table spoons or shovels full), how many time a day, and for how long to start enjoying the benefit of not getting up 5 or 6 time a night ot make my bladder gladder?
Any and all help is appreciated: Respectfully, big Dawg 213 aka Bill"

It is extremely not healthy to use anyones vibrator on your anus. There is a high risk of infection to contracting HIV because you can never clean them good enough. Get your own if you must do this for your prostate and do not share. How do you know what they have even if it is your spouse. There are to many people running around with HIV and don't even know it because they don't get tested. The rate of infection has climbed since 07."
