ALKALINITY AFFECTS BABY'S GENDER?

12/18/2007: Jenny from Georgia writes: "Hi, My husband and I are trying to get pregnant. We would like to have a boy. I was told to adjust my PH level to have higher alkalinity by following a strict diet. The diet consists of no milk, cheese, nuts, spinach, etc. Can you tell me if this makes sense or if it is harmful to my body."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "

What I can tell you is that at least in Thailand, most of the wealthy people who are rich have a lot more girls than boys. While poor people who can barely afford to buy clothes have nothing but boys. The reason why this is so is that the people who are wealthy, are generally conservative in their outlook. A strong believer in conventional medicine, use toothpaste fluoride regularly, eat good food, such as cakes, fruits, chocolate, expensive wines, fast food, canned foods and a lot of other "prepared foods".' Male sperms tend to die more quickly and easier under a toxic environment and if they do born, there is a very high percentage that they become gays or homosexual. The reason why that is so is nearly all packaged foods contains bisphenol A, which is produced from female estrogen hormone. Hence, sperm from the man, which determines the sex of the child has a better chance of surviving if they were female since the female has the advantage of redundant sex chromosome from both parent, but for the female one. While female sperms swims slower, their survivability is higher then a male sperm. While this is so, I don't know. Some scientist claims that female sperm (the sperm from a man determines the sex of the child) is heavier and swims more slower, but because of unhealthy foods, it is the female sperm that has greater survivability. Also excess pseudoestrogens from packaged food may might (and I am speculating here) in promoting more of females than men. In on study of a dog exposed to red light and another dog exposed to blue light, it was found that the dogs that had the most male dog were those exposed to red light, while blue light tipped the favor to female pups. It would seem that wearing blue jeans (which produces blue light) might promote more female than men in humans. Hence using red and orange clothes by the parents, and I am speculting here, will tip the favor for boys.

A poor people generally will have more boys than girls because, at least in Thailand, poor people can't afford fast food. Fast food in Thailand are for the rich people, and they can't even afford to buy estrogen laden package foods. Hence, the poor people, at least where I live, are more exposed to healthy eating habits than are the rich people, since diabetes is relatively lower in these group than the rich people. It should be noted that fluoride causes reduced sperm production as well as sperm to swim much more slower, but fluoride use only occurs in people who can afford toothpaste, which are mostly used by the richer people here in Thailand.

Therefore, with all the conclusions on my observation, eating healthy, alkalized regularly (farmers eat lots of vegetables and alkaline forming food), that you might be right that the tip is in favor of more boys than girls. But what that is not considered is the importance of the color of light and the colors we wear that is also determinant on the sex of the child that is exposed to by the parents."

HERBAL TEA DURING LABOR

10/10/2007: D writes: "Dear Ted,How are you? How has your summer been? I hope great...I am back in NY and getting ready to give birth.WhenI came back I found that my midwife closed her practice and now, 8 months pregnant, I had to find another one willing to take me. . . Very very hard thing to do. Unfortunately I only found one who is very "medical" and I will have to fight with her to have things done in my way. I found a magnesium chloride cream (with witamin B6 and GABA, component which I actually don't know) I plan to put it all over my belly when the contractions will start, so I will have extra magnesium to make the delivery easier. A girl who was attending my first labor (a doula, who is a labor assistant, needed when your mom is far away and your husband is not too much into delivery) gave me to drink an herbal tea during labor, I think there was black cohosh inside and other stuff to dumb the pain, but I can't ask her because she disappeared and I don't know how to reach her. Do you have any secret? In this months we have never stopped thinking of you and getting all the good results out of your cures.Yesterday there was an emergency with my little daughter (now 3), it was taken care of miracolously. We went to a little friend house and she had (the mother hadn't told me!!) a nasty cough. Yesterday morning my daughter started developing a fever and runny nose and the beginning of a cough, at 7 in the evening she had a 102.4 degree fever and was crying and not breathing well. I was not well too. I put on her back as you said a lot of clover oil (plus almond oil and euchaliptus oil). . . in half an hour the fever dropped dramatically and she was chatting and eating. She slept pretty normally. I saw in front of my eyes that she had been healed (not just a feverreducer) I almost couldn't believe how effective it was on her. When the fever is so high in the evening it doesn't drop like that if not the following morning. Thank you so much for the clover oil thing.Iremembered it had antiviral properties, I didn't expect they were so strong and immediate. (I put it on myself and I took apple cider vinegar plus bicarbonate and I feel well too, and I was getting it!) Many blessing for this and all the rest."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Sorry for late response, the emails traffic has beenheavy!

I am no expert on herbs because of the lack ofavailability here Thailand. However, I believe the teaherbal remedy is similar to an old Indian remedy tohelp woman deliver their babies. The concoction wereany of the following or in combination of: partridgeberry (used before delivery), raspberry (reduceddiscomfort associated with pregnancy), blue cohosh (tospeed up delivery), jute (good source of vitamin Bs),St. John's wort (soothing during delivery reduces theperineal tears), and shepherd's purse (stop thebleeding).

As for clove oil, this was an amazing remedy thathelped with diabetic high blood pressure (bycontrolling the blood sugar), it is antiviral strongly(especially the ones that reduced my energy level to avegetative state), and it is one of my most importantlife saving emergency remedy I can't live without. Itreduces fever within a record time.

Aspirin, vitamin C and zinc are an powerfulcombination too (quite synergistic), but dissolvedwith plenty of water. Both aspirin and zinc are alsostrongly antiviral too. What most people don't realizeis the acetylsalicylic acid of the aspirin dissolvesthe viral protein in record time. Another one that hasamazed me recently is the use of BHT. I had toconstantly find remedies against them as many of thevirus I encountered (must be my bad luck!) are quitedeadly. "

PREGNANCY AND HEARTBURN

07/25/2007: J writes: "Hello Ted, I recently came across the Earth Clinic website while desperately searching the internet for something that might help my current health problems. I am fifteen weeks pregnant. I have unfortunately been taking PPI's for six years. I have had it in my mind for a long while now that I wanted to get off of these drugs, but I was afraid that I would not be able to get by without them. By the time that I realized that they were not the answer, I had been on them for years. Well anyway, I put off figuring out something else to do for my acid reflux problem for a while because I was always distracted by this or that, and felt I didn't have the time or strength to devote myself to figuring that problem out right at the moment, or the next moment, or the next.... So I became pregnant, which was happy news, but I did not realize that my body was already going to be a little handicapped to what the body must go through during pregnancy. I did not know that heartburn was such a huge issue for pregnant women, even women who had never experienced heartburn before in their lives. So just a few weeks into my pregnancy, the problems began. No matter what I did, the heartburn began to spiral out of control. My doctor had advised me to continue with my Prevacid regimen, so I did so. But this was not helping. For weeks at a time, I was dragging myself through daily living, struggling, uncomfortable, fearful. My appetite suffered. I became overwhelmed with worry. I believe the Prevacid was causing me more constipation, leading to greater heartburn. I tried to supplement with tums and/or maalox as my doctor instructed. Nothing worked. I would come home from work, exhausted, frustrated, feeling helpless and desperate for the answer to my problem. For days on end I searched the web for something that might help me, since any advice that I received from doctors did me no good whatsoever. I even contacted a gastroenterologist who said there was nothing she could do to help me during my pregancy and it would have to wait until afterwards. I felt so lost. Finally one day I found the Earth Clinic site. I read about the ACV/Baking soda remedy. I read all the feedback from those who had found success with this. I figured I had mine as well give it a try. After one dose, I felt better than I had felt in weeks and weeks. I was able to eat that night. I thanked heaven for finally answering my prays! Carefree feelings and joy filled my heart! I took ACV/baking soda for five days, and then took the two days off. I did not have any problems during those two days off. I felt fantastic. Then the next day I started the remedy up again. I felt pretty good that first day. But then the next day I began to feel sick again. It has now been four days and I have not been feeling so well any of these days. I am still able to eat pretty well, and I do not feel too backed up, but my chest is filled with heavy, hot acid feelings. I feel tired and sluggish. I do not want to stop with the remedy right now, because I still feel that it is helping me more than other things that I have tried, and it is surely the safest for my baby out of what I have tried so far, but I just wish that things could be better than this. I feel it is such a shame because my pregnancy has been so good for me otherwise. I have had minimum nausea (except for that which is associated with my acid reflux issues) and I have not thrown up once. If I could only get this acid problem under control. I just do not understand why I felt so great the first week, and now I feel like this. Should I change up the amount of ACV/baking soda that I am taking? Should I take it more or less often? Is there something else I should be taking? What more can I do? I sleep propped up. I drink water all the time, and not much else. I eat very healthy. I eat minimal amounts of heavy acid producing foods. This problem is affecting my quality of life greatly. I am tired and easily irritable. I feel heavy, worried, and scared. I am worried that this is hurting my baby. I have not gained much weight. It is still early for me in my pregnancy, but I want to make sure that I can get a better hold on this problem as early on as possible to ensure that my baby is safe and healthy. I need some help. I desperately do. Doctors seem to have nothing to offer me. I do not know where else to turn. Thank you very much for your time. I sincerely appreciate any help that you might have to offer me. Have a wonderful day."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Women will have acid reflux and heartburn because of an electrolyte imbalance. The key electrolytes are sodium, potassium and magnesium. Maintaining a urinary pH of 7 is important, but some potassium and magnesium are equally important.

If apple cider vinegar and baking soda doesn't work, there are two things:

Take it less frequently, but I would take instead a lime and baking soda remedy. The lime and baking soda remedy is 8 teaspoons of lime juice plus 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda, in 1/2 glass of water taken twice a day.

The magnesium and potassium is needed also so I know it is about 250 mg of magnesium citrate and potassium citrate (or potassium bicarboante) should be taken, and the potassium is about 1/4 teaspoon should contain the problem.

A more comprehensive plan of acid reflux is best handled by getting a pocket pH meter and get urinary pH of 7. The second important thing to add is 1/4 teaspoon of potassium bicarbonate to the original remedy, at least once or twice a day, if I can get it.

If magnesium and potassium are obtainable, those should contain most of the acid reflux problems. The reason why it was not mentioned earlier is getting those are generally harder to obtain and most people have just the acid reflux, pregnancy only makes the condition more severe. This is why a woman gets nauseated and sometimes vomits because the body needs to get rid of the excess acidity in a very desperate way."

QUESTION BY PREGNANT LADY ABOUT BAKING SODA

05/17/2007: Jennifer writes: "Dear Ted, I came upon the web site yesterday and I am so greatful for the baking soda remedy. I am seven weeks pregnant and dealing with severe marbles for bowel movements. I had eaten 15 prunes, two bowls of bran cereal, large green salads, citracel x6 and one and a half gallons of water daily for several days with just minimal results. I tryed before bed time 1/2 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp sea salt and 800mg magnesium. In the am I took the baking soda and sea salt again but it cause vomiting. I ate a bowl of bran and retook the 1/2 tsp of baking soda with no salt and had two excellent results within 30 minutes! I feel so much better. My question is, how often should and can I safely take the baking soda for my pregnancy related constipation and what other vitamins and minerals do you recomennd for healthy growth and development of my child? This is my third pregnancy with children as of yet. First pregnancy a bilghted ovum and second was a molar pregnancy. Thank you for your time"

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Jennifer:

Most pregnancy can cause extreme acidosis which results in constipation, as a result of the growing baby as it produces a lot of toxic wastes to the mother. There are actually two kinds of acidosis, one where the body is generally acid, and another one where the intracellularly cells are acidic, which is often referred to as lactic acidosis. Usually apple cider vinegar and baking soda is best with lactic acidosis, while lemon and baking soda remedy helps stabilize the urinary pH. Ideally measuring urinary pH around 6.5 - 7.5, where 7.0 I think will cause the least of the problems. Nausea and dizziness can sometime be helped with a drop of peppermint oil, while magnesium usually reduces cramps.

The constipation, using baking soda and sea salt is taken on an empty stomach. Apparently you were eating food. The body is already in acid condition with more food, will obviously cause the body to vomit to get rid of excess acid, in a desperate act. Electrolytes may help in such instance, after vomiting to normalize the body's electrolytes.

Another way to reduce constipation is to add baking soda along with the food. This helps too, so you did it correctly.

how often should and can I safely take the baking soda for my pregnancy related constipation and what other vitamins and minerals do you recomennd for healthy growth and development of my child?

The dose of 1/4 teaspoon baking soda taken in the morning and before bedtime, and some magnesium is often a minimum dose just enough to get by. There is no way to say the optimum dose since everyone's weight is different. You can find out if you have an electronic pH meter which will usually determine if urinary pH is within normal range. There are other parameters, but this is the most important one.

While 1/4 teaspoon baking soda this won't stop constipation, it will at least reduce it. Also, adding 1/4 teaspoon of sea salt in one liter of drinking water of good quality should help further preventing the constipation. It should be noted that there is a world of difference between a common salt (pH is 5.0) and a sea salt (pH is usually about 7.5-8.5).

There are special vitamins for pregnant mothers, are preferred, which usually consists of vitamin B complex, mineral and other vitamins.

Usually avoiding animal meats and fatty and oily foods during dinner is the key time where the body has a tendency to be constipated. Vitamin C sodium ascorbate and apple cider vinegar can also neutralize some of the toxic wastes also.

It is helpful that at this stage the getting a hair mineral analysis is important. I experienced a mother who had several child learning behavior which were caused by toxic heavy metals and mineral imbalances were being high by the mother, and that effected the child's later development during her term pregnancy. If that would have been known, all the children would not have learning disorder in the future. Mineral imbalance can also lead to constipation (where certain minerals on the right side of periodic table are "acid formers", while on left side are alkaline forming elements) and this is why sea salt can resolve this since it is more naturally balanced in general compared to the artificial foods we prepared."

LEMON-BICARBONATE SAFE DURING PREGANCY?

03/07/2007: "Dear Ted, How are you? I hope very well. It has been a busy and emotional time for me: I just found out to be pregnant! Just a few months ago I would have been almost desperate since I was feeling so bad, but now you have put me back on my feet just in time for the arrival of the second little one. And I know that this time it won't be difficult like last time because I have found you, which I consider the only real doctor in the wide world. I am very serious! I had such a horrible experience with my OBGYN for my first child that people do not even believe me when I tell them all what he did to me. But I know that all the doctors are bad, it is just that people don't understand all the disasters they cause in their bodies. This time I am definitely having a midwife (who though in New York are too much modern medicine oriented). Think that I got, among other things that went wrong, a hospital infection with Pseudomonas aeruginosa organism who was left untreated for a month because my doctor neglected to look at my tests results. I just tell you: I thought I was dying. Also the delivery was extremely long and painful (30 hours of labour in total, 15 of which extremely intense), I am pretty sure that with supplements and herbs this misery can be made a little better. Also I had a headache for three months in a row, during my second trimester, it stopped when I took some magnesium /calcium supplements to avoid miscarriage since I had to flight in Italy. Moreover the doctor told me by the sonogram (which I am not going to have this time) that there was an Intrauterine Growth Retardation and that the baby was not developing harmoniously and she would be less than 5 pounds. Actually she was born more than 6 and was very cute, it is true that after he told me that I started eating like a desperate. Well now I am confident everything will be all right! I wanted to ask you if I can keep taking my lemon-bicarbonate 4 days a week (with 3 of rest) with some occasional ACV-bicarbonate. Also, I know you don't like suggesting products to buy but I would be so grateful if you could give me a little piece of advice on this. There is a huge difference between different brands. I have at home this prenatal vitamins, it is from New Chapter and I copy under its content. I know you suggest taking much more vitamin D, should I supplement it starting form now (I am 1 month pregnant) with additional 1000 IU daily? Also, you suggest somewhere else a lot of vitamin C (is it good to take the calcium ascorbate form, say additional 1000 mg a day)? And what about the rest? It seems to me that with my low thyroid precedents I should take some Kelp (moreover I am still more than 6 kilos heavier than before baby, and my hair are still very thin right over my forehead). I also thought I could add a multi mineral supplement like the one I copy below (Now full spectrum mineral). I sure will have to take a big amount of supplements but foods are almost worthless nowadays. I hope that with all these nutrients I won't gain so much weight like last time on top of what I haven't lost. I am pretty sure you get so ferociously hungry not because you need calories but because the baby needs substances. I think in the Western World we are totally undernourished, practically starving for what we really need. Last thing, I found a supplement called Boron (from Calcium Borogluconate) I think it is the same thing as Borax which I can't find anywhere! If it is the same thing, can I open the capsule (3 mg) and put it in our water (one per liter). Thank you so much Ted for taking time to read my long emails. God bless you for this, I surely do and my new child too!"

Earth Clinic replies: "The rest of D's emails (and Ted's responses) can be found on the low immunity page."

Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Dear D: Congratulations on your new baby!

The major supplements for a pregnant woman is vitamin C, vitamin D, vitamin B complex, magnesium, and zinc. Most miscarriages are due to vitamin C deficiency. Vitamin D dose for a pregnant woman is often about 2000 I.U. per day from pregnancy to breast feeding the baby. This is hardly an overdose.

A healthy human often produces between 10,000 to 20,000 i.u. per day. Magnesium helps keep calcium levels in check not clogging up the system.

Good calcium supplements if taken together with magnesium is mash potatoes. The calcium levels are higher than milk. Natural source of magnesium I think that is good is sunflower seeds. Natural source of zinc is pumpkin seeds. You can eat all you like with that.

Kelp might be good and might be bad depending on the source. If you taken before and it is working, then it is o.k.

I never recommend any brand or promote any brand. I can if I know the details! Also I want to get you used to the idea of reading labels! Labels of the supplements is what is most important in a supplement.

The best form of vitamin C is generally sodium ascorbate. If no sodium ascorbate is available, then ascorbic acid mixed with baking soda until the fizz is minimum. The resultant reaction in a water solution is sodium ascorbate. I prefer to buy powdered ascorbic acid take 1/2 or 1 teaspoon for example, then add enough baking soda in a 1/2 glass of water until the fizz is reduced. Then drink it from there. It is inconvenient, but it works the best. The body needs to maintain a suitable antioxidant level and pH level being the major foundation for our health.

Again no sugar and fried food and stir fried. Absolutely no monosodium glutamate. Vaccinations of babies below 1 year is extremely dangerous. Make sure hospitals don't sneak doing this.

A preferred boron is borax, or a pharmaceutical grade borax. I don't like substitutes. They tend to create new problems.

Prenatal supplements you send me is problematic. They use B3 niacin. This can be a real problem for a baby as it causes skin flushing in mothers, and imagine what that does to a developing baby. The preferred vitamin B3 is niacinamide.

Any form of ultrasound use during term pregnancy, will impair a baby's brain development as it works like a microwave frequency being similar in such. Ultrasound is not safe. It cause heat buildup and too much might cook up the brains where it does its damages.

Acidosis is a common problem in pregnant woman and the body needs to neutralize them with baking soda.

I wanted to ask you if I can keep taking my lemon-bicarbonate 4 days a week (with 3 of rest) with some occasional ACV-bicarbonate.

The most important thing a mother can have it to take this during pregnancy. It controls the pH. Keep the pH at that level will allow the body to detoxify waste without harming the baby.

If you can get an electronic pH meter, please do and monitor them. Try to get them near a pH of 7.0. It takes only an hour to know if you need to take more or or less. Often it will not be enough.

A mother needs to take plenty of magnesium and a reasonable amount of chinese parsley coriander for an obvious reason that if the hospitals inject your baby with immunization containing mercury, aluminum, and monosodium glutamate. A least the baby will have a fighting chance to detoxify them sufficiently not to cause retardation.

I have noted one mother whose children are autistics. It is not the genes. Her hair mineral analysis showed that she was indeed toxic with heavy metals and had high levels off the charts such as mercury, lead, iron, cadmium etc.

One area that pregnant mother have not considered: the effect of heavy metals of her affecting the child development as well as additional heavy metals created by the unneeded vaccinations.

I prefer to wait out until a couple of years old at the very least, not a couple of weeks! Vaccination tends to destroy the baby's immune system, particularly with x rays, ultrasounds, cat scans, etc. and other invasive techniques.

You hair thinning problem is manganese and lacking in amino acid that are nitric oxide promoters, such as L-glutamine, l-arginine 2000 mg to 4000 mg/day which I think should help.

I hope this small piece of information is helpful."
