ENDURING MOUTH AND TONGUE INFECTION

12/30/2012: M from UK: "Hi Ted, I noticed your comments on Earth Clinic and wondered if you would be able to give me some advice as I have seen several doctors in the UK and all are perplexed at and find it difficult to provide a solution to my ailments.

I've rather been through the mill this past year here is a brief summary of my symptoms and the treatments that I have had [omitted]. I thought it best to give you a list of the practitioners that I have seen for the various ailments so that you have a complete background. This has been going on for over a year.

Current symptoms: Base of tongue furry, white and sore as well as dry eyes which I have suffered from for years. Dry mucous in nose (bogeys)

Dry and sore tongue and throat wakes me up several times during the night. I think that I breathe through my mouth at night when I'm asleep as my nose is quite dry and often blocked and over the years this has become a habit. Pains in ribs when I sit in the same position for too long. I currently do not drink alcohol, but when I do it makes my mouth much worse.

I was hoping that you may be able to give me some advice, you have responded to many people regarding controlling their acidity levels and wondered if this may apply to me?

Many thanks in advance."

01/16/2012: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Well, first thing is how's the pH of the tongue, what's the fasting blood sugar, and one hour after meal blood sugar? I suspect it is a simple fungus infection accelerated with pH of the saliva below 7, for sure, and at least the one hour after meal blood sugar is over 90 mg/dL. The best thing to lower the saliva pH is the potassium citrate, in pure form it is 1/4 teaspoon once or twice a day after a meal. Possible problem with iodine deficiency, but selenium and vitamin E, must be taken first for one week, to begin maybe SSKI, 5 drops before sleep [start with half a drop and increase slowly], or at least seaweed or kelp if SSKI is not available. The fungus may be prevented if blood sugar is normal after meals if not, take something simple, gymnema siyvestre 400 mg x 2 and chromium chloride 10 drops x 2, to normalize, and lysine to prevent infection from spreading, and at least N acetyl cysteine before sleep to prevent sore throat, as people who have this have low N acetyl cysteine. A deficiency in saliva, particularly amylase, which may be prevented by iodine SSKI, and some digestive enzymes, or just B50 for liver to provide various organs of enzymes, to break down. B50 is also known to prevent sore mouth, particularly the B2, riboflavin. The one deficiency i have found is molybdenum, in form of sodium molybdate, which prevents fungal overgrowth and it's the prime nutrients for other invading bacteria (bad ones) to persist in the mouth. Sodium molybdate is one pinch a day for a month should be sufficient. That's my opinion of course.

LINGERING MOUTH SORES

07/30/2011: Anonymous from Anonymous: "Hello Ted!

1. A close friend has referred me to you hoping you may be able to find a cure for the lingering Mouth Sore I have. This I am having for just under a year. When the sore is bad I cannot eat anything cooked with salt or chilly. With the bad sore comes fever. Normally it doesn't go beyond 100 F. Also doesn't last for more than a day or two.

2. I have tried all manner of treatment here in Bangladesh, and have also been to all kinds of specialists. None of them could diognize this.

3. For last month or so, I am trying raw cucumber which I eat slowly after meals twice a day. I am also taking, again twice a day after meals, a bitter juice obtained by boiling 'neem' (Azadirachta indica) leaves. This has not healed me totally, but I feel better somewhat. The sore is less pronounced but it is there. Previously I used to get fever every week or so. This has improved because, I got it this time only once after a month.

4. I live in Bangladesh at my home. We have access to good doctors and medicines - but nothing has worked on me. I, of course, refused steroids which some had recommended. Looking forward to your advice."

07/30/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Yes neem works somewhat, but it has to be taken with lysine for it to work better, normally it is used with Andrograhis Paniculata insead of lysine as this is more antiviral then then neem. A combination of herbs often works best, such as asafoetida tincture, curcuma, and in combinations of other things as in vitamin C, N acetyl Cysteine, and CoQ10.

Normally most mouth soures responds to Lysine is taken 1000 mg, x 4 doses, hourly, and is taken along with N acetyl cysteine 250 x 4 doses hourly also, in morning and in evening, and vitamin C 250 mg. x 4 doses hourly.. The andrographis is taken 1/2 teaspoon twice a day. These dose are continued for 1 to 2 weeks should be sufficient.

You can take some of those mentioned such as curcuma, asafoetida (hing), neem, and others if you want.

1. Going through the various reports on the suggested items I realize I should have told you more about myself. I am a 68 years old male. Got a single stent last year, and everything is going fine.

2. I am an old asthmatic. In recent years I loose breath even with minimum work like walking few meters. Doctors here say I have COPD. But I have never smoked even a puff in my entire life, although I have been exposed to secondary smoking. A doctor has suggested breathing exercise but this hasn't helped much. From what I have read somewhere, is it possible that prolonged use of bronco-dilators may have weakened my lungs? Although I now use bronc-dilators only on SOS - which is rare, in the past the use was frequent. I am now on prophylactic management with Seretide Accuhaler 50/250 (salmetrol and flutiscasone with lactose monohydrate) one puff each morning and evening daily; and tab Montelukast 10 mg one daily.

3. In youth I was a sportsman and a long distance runner. But asthma has made me lead a comparatively sedentary life.

08/06/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "Since you have COPD the following mixture may help:
0.5% Aloe Vera with DMSO as a bronchial spray to help normalized cells growth.

Eat butter, helps normal growth.

Iodine a couple of drops (2-3 before sleep), if you can handle it in some cases asthma goes away. Severe asthma may require more.

N Acetyl Cysteine 250 mg, Lysine 1000 and Threonine 1000 mg.
Q10 is 400 mg x 3

There is a spray to kill fungus, the ones I used is ammonium chloride solution 1% to spray and breathe indirectly, say spray the room and breathe in if it a fungus.

There may be other fungus involved and mycobacterium. But I don't have that many people (one every 2 years) with COPD, so these reflect very few people with the condition. A lot of people happens to exist outside Thailand so my remedy is not perfect.

12/06/2011: Anonymous replies: "Dear Ted, First of all I must commend you for the wonderful work you are doing.

Here in Bangladesh the chemicals you mentioned are not available readily. I, therefore, used the herbs. Immediately after I started using this in mid-August my mouth sore had disappeared. However, it began reappearing when I discontinued. I am now taking this every day but the sore comes back from time to time - but it is not that severe.

I am taking a paste made of: Andrograhis (Kalomegh) fresh leaves, neem -about 10 leaves, pinch of asafoetida (hing) and a pinch of curcuma. The paste is obtained by manual blending with a bit of water. I take two tablespoons full twice daily.

Can you please suggest what else I can do to make this disappear for good? Best regards."

12/06/2011: Ted from Bangkok, Thailand replies: "You are missing zinc acetate or zinc supplements (zinc gluconate) say 20 mg to 40 mg a day for 2 to 4 weeks. It's probably viral, and what I do know is andrographis makes your immune system see it, but it NEEDS lysine for the immune system to be capable of killing them. So get at least lysine and zinc acetate, if it can't be found, then sunflower seeds have some, and lysine can be accessed somewhat with eating raw chicken and meats, especially the liver. Of course you can partially cook it just to destroy the bacteria on the outside. It actually works better from an immune system standpoint if you happened to have raw crocodile meats, sharks liver oil, or snakes meats and blood for one reason that is not mentioned often in medical literature: you acquire the immune system of these animals somewhat. There is a doctor in Florida that acquired such immune system support from snakes and he lived to be more than 100 years old and is still living, his immune system is so strong that the snakes venom is neutralized once he is bitten. His blood is actually used by hospitals for people without the snakes to get the anti venom, but that is another story altogether. The lysine and zinc can also be applied to the mouth. The iodine tincture can also be done, by applying to the mouth. Get any iodine tinctures and apply it as needed, twice a day is the minimum, don't use excessive amounts, apply as necessary.

The lysine is taken like this: every hour for four hours. But if you don't have lysine, and if your blood sugar doesn't go beyond 150 mg/dL (actually it's 200 mg/dL, for safety reasons), aspirin can be used 500 mg, every hour for four hours. The real reason why the medical community doesn't use this on reason of bleeding is that it causes bleeding of stomach for people whose blood sugar exceeds 200, and the stomach doesn't heal, so it bleeds. Most people in the medical community aren't even aware of that fact either.

12/15/2011: Pam from Charlotte, Nc replies: "Not sure if you have heard much about Hydrogen Peroxide or not but I just started taking it this week for a rash that I have had on my hands for over two years. I had been to my doctor several times and was prescribed several creams but nothing worked. I have been taking the 35% food grade Hydro for only 4 days and my rash is completely dried up!! I would also purchase the book, The One- Minute Cure!! Hope this helps!!!"
