<description>[YEA] Tami from Auburn, Maine/usa writes: "I got Bird mites from my son's parakeet. The bird also gave them to my cats who gave them to me. I washed my cats first in blue Dawn dish soap then in TheraNeem Pet Shampoo. The next day their fur was already growing back.

Doctor's thought I was crazy and they wouldn't help me so I used the pet shampoo on myself because I saw that it was organic with all natural ingredients I figured what could it hurt. It helped me too. Now I found out that there is also a internal neem leaf product that can help rid you from the inside out of these pests. The product is called TheraNeem Supercritical Extract of Neem Leaf made by OrganixSouth.com. I can't wait to try it. I think that Neem is going to be my new best friend I hope this will help some of you that desperately need it. Tami

<description>[YEA] G from Sydney, Nsw Australia writes: "Topical Garlic for Mites

Recipe:

Crush 4 large cloves of garlic &amp; macerate with mineral oil(baby oil) or bath oil(bath oil is a soluble mineral oil, &amp; for this application, worth the cost)

Let the mix steep for several hours, then crush through a fine sieve.

For mineral oil, add a little liquid soap or bath wash, to emulsify with water.

Add enough water to make the mix liquid, especially if you want to spray it on. Add some lemon juice to reduce the smell ( it does smell! The active part is apparently the smelly part, so no luck there). It may burn, so add as much water as you need.

Rub the mix wherever the mites are. They hate it &amp; it kills them. They seem not to come back. Any further bites just rub with the oil, or hold them down with a garlicky finger. Mine would attach to the skin so I needed to scrape them back with a fingernail.

My infestation is probably bird mites &amp; is highly resistant to permethrin products (applied in concentrations both absurdly high &amp; totally irresponsible) &amp; slightly deterred by tea tree oil but the garlic mix gets a whopping 9 dead bugs out of 10 for stopping power &amp; revenge value.

Keep away from eyes!

The is adapted from a Depression era insecticide recipe which works really well.

Garlic stores it's winter food just above the ground, where all the bugs &amp; bacteria live, so it's chemical protection needs to be good. The mite family has 50 000 species &amp; pre-dates insects, so they know a thing or two about adapting to local conditions.

Hope this helps you murder those suckers.

<description> Tamara from Venice, Ca writes: "My new 4 month old Persian kitty started itching and is biting and pulling fur and chewing away at his sides and belly. Not his ears. I don't see any fleas at all. On the 15th I put a drop of Advantage on him. Shortly before the itching started, on Dec 9th I brought in a second hand couch that might have had bedbugs or mites, as I began to feel something crawling on me during the night and then finally I have been getting little bites on me three in a row. I had put the couch next to the bed and when I brought it in, the kitten was playing on it while I vacuumed and cleaned it. It looked like a dog had been sleeping on this couch. I have thrown it out and an exterminator is coming tomorrow to inspect, but I do not want him to come in here with bed bugs all over him and give them to me - I might not have them.

Can a doctor look at my bites and tell me what I have? What type of doctor? Also, there have been pigeons nesting on my two balconies for the past two years. There is one baby bird right now. I keep the kitten off the balcony, but a couple times he got out there in the pigeon crap - briefly. I also have a 5 year old Maltese who was recently on steroids for itchy scabby belly before I brought the new kitten "Kozy Mel" home.

Should I get Advantage MULTI? Holistic people say it is deadly, and that antibiotics cause allergies and itching. My kitten has never had antibiotics except tiny drops of flagyl a couple of times when he had diarrhea. Is this bed bugs mites, allergies?? My main question is about not treating my home with chemical bombs. What is the HOLISTIC way to get rid of bed bugs and mites? He is eating Prescription i/d dry and wet and switched his wet food from i/d to Wellness chicken in a can a few weeks ago.

<description> Maaka from Auckland, New Zealand writes: "Hi,

I am not sure whether a got some sort of tiny mite while in Thailand, or is something else. It first felt like mites between my toes, after a roadside walk in sandals. The skin between the toes became hard, and it felt like little fast moving mites were there, even nipping me at times. Now the crawling sensation has moved to the rest of my body, my back and hair, up my nose they crawl about, and in my ears, everywhere, but do you think I could find any even with a looking glass.. There appeared a hard crystal like pimple, almost like a splinter, and when I finally extracted I noticed thru a looking glass two tiny tiny pin head size white mites movng about in the crater that was left.. I am almost convince they live under the skin, and if you run your finger across your forehead, its feels like a field of little mountains.. It seems like they have a 4 day life cycle or something like that.. They generally come on worst at night as soon as my head hits the pillow.. I have tried everything saltwater to meths yet I can't stop this crawling sensation and after two years its driving me crazy.. I met up with an old flame a wee while back and slept together, and next she is feeling the same...

I once had rats living in my house while I was away, and they had been all over the bedroom room. I cleaned up, but two days later I woke up in bed and it felt like there was a million ants on my face... So whether it was thailand or rats, or mites. I have no idea.. I do remember seeing local thais with pock marked faces, as if they had a mite problem.. Any ideas would be grateful.. Thanks.. An interesting website.. Keep up the good work

<title>GENERAL FEEDBACK</title>

<description> David from Dublin, Ireland writes: "In May, 2009, my mother died in the hospice ward of a decrepit hospital that allows and encourages wild animals into its grounds right up to the building itself.

When they returned her clothing, I found three neatly-folded hospital blankets at the bottom of the bag. They were caked with mud, animal droppings, bloodstains, and unknown debris.

From that bag, my home was infested with bedbugs and permethrin-resistant fleas, and I was infested with scabies. For almost a year, two pest control companies couldn't eliminate the fleas. I finally imported diatomaceous earth from the US and they all died in four days.

The scabies were also permethrin-resistant (Lyclear Dermal Cream and Derbac M all failed) so I tried Kleen Green. Inside a month I was clear.

But I was left with incessant tickles, "stinging, " and crawling sensations, as well as a little itching.

Two dermatologists and a psychiatrist diagnosed delusional parasitosis. None followed the protocols for making such a diagnosis, none would examine my photographic images, and I was given anti-psychotic injections (Risperidone) for a year without my knowledge or informed consent and instructed to ignore the sensations as they were just "transient itches."

For the full horror story, as well as many images of insects in hair follicles and sebaceous plugs, damaged and discoloured skin, please visit my website:

    http://www.delusionalinsects.com

Thanks to a kind commenter on my site, I found Earth Clinic and all these possible remedies from kind and helpful people.

Thanks to the ludicrous delusional diagnosis, these insects have now had two and half years to spread over my entire body, from scalp to soles of feet. The only areas they haven't populated are the palms of my hands and my penis. I even have them in my anus, up my nostrils, and in my ear canals. My skin everywhere is dry, flakey, and itching has increased. Life is hell.

I've been drinking unpasteurised ACV "with mother" for over a month (three tablespoons in warm water taken with food three times daily) and have noticed only a very slight improvement.

I also take two heaped tablespoons of food-grade diatomaceous earth in a half-pint of water at about 7:30 each evening.

I shave my head and face every night before bed with shaving oil, then apply a moisturiser with aloe vera.

I was about to start spraying my body with a 50/50 dilution of the ACV when I found Ted's internal borax and baking soda remedy. I'm about to go mix up my first batch now but I'm a bit confused.

My questions:

       1. How do you measure 1/4 of a teaspoon?
       2. Another post here mentions adding a capful of 3% hydrogen peroxide to the water as well. Ted doesn't say to do this, so is it correct?
       3. Ted's remedy on the Rosacea thread only mentions adding borax to the water - no baking soda. Why the difference?
       4. In Ted's external borax remedy, he mentions using a "borax saturated solution" (what's that?) with 1% hydrogen peroxide but doesn't say what proportions of each to use. Anyone know the answer to this?
          5. I'm 60 years old, osteoporotic, and partially disabled due to a spinal injury so there are parts of my body I can't reach. Consequently, I have to use a spray bottle or a long-handled applicator for my back. How important is it to massage this mixture into the skin? And how often should this external treatment be done?

Well, that's it for the moment. Thank you for your time, attention, and patience. I wish you all the very best of luck with these demons. And if you want to see the images the dermatologists turned their backs on, please check out my site.

<description>[YEA] Naturalhomeremedies from Ny, Ny, Usa writes: "First and foremost, I want to give thanks to Jehovah God for all things are possible through him.

I recently came down with an infestation of mites. I only discovered this after starting to feel like I was getting pelted by sand like specs on on my feet and legs in my home. Thought it was spring tails or bird mites or Morgellons. Regardless, I was itchy all over and felt crawling sensations from head to toe.

I scared myself half to death reading all the horror stories on the internet. The advice was trash your stuff and move! That is not the solution. Then I sprinkled Diatomaceous Earth over everything. Another bad move... It just made cleaning up everything twice as hard.

I started praying and found this site. Then it dawned on me that mites are everywhere, including on me. I can bomb everything, steam and clean 24 hours a day, trash everything and move 25 times and I still have the mites in my skin and hair. Once I realized that it more than an environmental issue (that bombing my house would not solve), or a pet issue (I have 3 dogs and read how people got rid of their pets or put them to sleep) I said a prayer and got a grip. I can encounter these mites anywhere. Pathogens like, germs, bacteria and viruses are in and on EVERYTHING. Our bodies constantly fight these invaders, the HEALTHIER our immune systems the more transparent the fight is. I had been neglecting myself and my health, so my immune system is compromised. So this was just the latest symptom in a long line of symptoms that I didn't address holistically. Just another sign that my body is out of balance. I encourage anyone going through this, to calm down and take charge of your internal and external health.

As I prayed for a cure and answers, I kept thinking - mankind has dealt with these things for a bazillion years. If they didn't get a handle on it - they would have all killed themselves a long time ago (from the agony) - but we are still here! So the answer is to go OLD SCHOOL on these parasites.

I took bentonite clay, mixed in borax and added a couple of tablespoons of bleach (I didn't worry about exact measurements). I added water to get less clumpy and got in the shower and started to scrub myself with it. I sat on the edge of the tub and took time to massage it into every part of my body. As I began massaging, hard black specks came up to the surface ALL OVER MY BODY. It was disgusting! Massaged more. By the time I was finished and rinsed off my skin was as soft as a baby's behind. I then took a herbal oil, I got in the discount store, that I had added Tree Tea Oil, Oregano Oil and Clove Oil and oiled myself down; really massaged the oil in and took my time. A few more specs came up; some white, some black. For the 1st time in many nights I sleep more than 3 hours.

The next day after I washed my hair, I put bentonite clay, borax and bleach in my hair as a mask and left it for 24 hours (used a plastic cap). My scalp stopped the crazy itchiness. Once in a while a spot would itch and I would just massage that spot on my scalp. The next day I rinsed my hair with Apple cider vinegar (ACV) that I left in. Then I oiled my hair with Sulfur 8 with clove, tree and oregano oils added in. My scalp stopped itching but my hairline, face and neck itched like crazy. So I soaked my face and neck with ACV and covered it with Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) and Tree Tea Oil. Eventually the itching stopped. I also put VCO on my scalp.

The next night I scrubbed down with the clay mixture again and saw less mites come up to the surface then the night before. I have started drinking ACV and Betonite Clay and Grapefruit Seed oil. Drinking a lot of distilled or filter water. Brought cheap sheets and blankets (light or white colored) and change daily. Vacuum everyday. Change clothes daily. Steam floors every couple of days. On a personal note, I was washing everything daily and decided this was MADNESS. Just because I washed it, didn't mean it was going to stay free of these mites. As soon as I touched it, there is a chance I contaminated the clean laundry again, open the bag to remove clothes - contaminated. I can't keep mites or other pathogens off my stuff just like I can't keep germs, viruses or bacteria off me or my environment. I can cleanse my system and make it healthier so these things would no longer bother me. Trying to make my environment mite free was a fruitless pursuit. I was stressing myself out and making myself crazy and compromising my immune system further. Now I am focusing on cleaning and making my environment healthy and getting rid of clutter. This has been a wake up call - I got careless with my health. The allergies, rashes, etc. Were all symptoms that I masked with medications while not dealing with the real issue, my body was sick.

I have a large rash on my forearms, going to put the clay mixture on them and wrap with plastic wrap. Maybe sleep with a clay mask on my face. Have realized that anyplace I have a zit or dark pores needs to be treated with clay. Itchiness picked up this afternoon, wiped down with Apple Cider Vinegar and oiled down with VCO.

Have the dogs on ACV, DE and black walnut to cleanse their systems. Everyone is on probiotics and Wheat Grass to rebuild. Spray them down with ACV daily. So glad I did not come to the point of giving away my pets or putting them to sleep - unnecessary like throwing the baby out with the bath water. Just gave a doggie a clay bath tonight and saw the mites come off her too - will do the other two tomorrow.

Plan on buying a zapper, colloidal silver maker and uv air purifier. Will zapp to kill them in me and my pets and drink and spray colloidal silver around to kill mites. Including Greek yogurt mixed with extra probiotics daily. Eating macrobiotic and whole foods, no more soda, mickey D's or fried chicken for me.

Through all of this, I am grateful. I have been provided an opportunity to intensely work on my health, pets and environment. It will not be done in one day or 30 days. It is a process and I thank God for sites like this and all his great blessings that are carrying me through this. God is Great. The key for me is to live more conscientiously and holistically. Trust in Jehovah God and all him to guide your through this process. Peace, optimal health and blessings to all.

Looking forward to your suggestions.

Thank you for the info on using Borax for mites. I'm on day 4 of drinking 1/8 tsp in liter of water &amp; 1/8 tsp baking soda sipping thruout day. Wow, what a difference!

But could you give some additional information? How do you deal with the actual mites that come crawling out of your skin. ? Whats the proper protocol? None of the posts I read, mentions anything about this important step. Some were coming out of my left tear duct yesterday - what a weird sensation. I didn't know what to do: leave them alone &amp; try not to itch; wipe with some solution; rinse with water, what? I also have some coming out in various areas on my face as boils. I've been spritzing a borax/peroxide/water solution directly on my body at night then shower in the morning. That seems to help a lot.

Thank you for your response I await anxiously!

This treatment along with daily washing of clothing and bedding, vacuuming, will go a long way to help promoto a cautiously optimistic feeling.

Morning and evening use a toothbrush and scrub the area 2 to 3 inches around the punctures with a solution of Dawn Dish soap. This will reveal many more punctures than you can otherwise see.

Soak in a bath of apple cider vinegar and epsom salts.

Brush the skin with a soft brush -whole body while in the tub. Pat dry

Treat punctures with Ox-e Drops ( Nyzme. com) or bleach solution ( 1 part bleach to 10 parts water.)

Apply Black Walnut tincture on a Q-tip to punctures and surrounding area. ( an anti parasite) dry skin with hair dryer.

Apply cortizone cream, or healing ointment, zinc ointment etc. Dust skin with Gold Bond powder.

Internally, take 5 drops of Black Walnut tincture in water three times a day. also 1 tablespoon Apple Cider Vinegar with maple syrup in glass of water twice daily.

Bentonite, 1 tablespoon in water will assist intestinal track to cleanse. (from health food store)

Have used this treatment successfully.

<description> Lofty1 from Hi, Usa writes: "For months I could not figure out why I kept getting these small scabs on my wrists. I would notice them from time to time and could not remember how they got there. Then I slowly began to notice that my wrists, arms, eyes and head began to increasingly itch. It finally dawned on me that this was some kind of mite that I must have picked up from our neighbor's dog that we had looked after when they went on vacation. I figured it was from the dog, because they had to shave the dog's fur due to some kind of "skin condition" .

In any case, once I determined the problem I came to this site and tried some of the remedies and combination of remedies listed here. What I tried and what is finally working is this. It seems you do have to keep after these little buggers relentlessly. I started out using tea tree oil*, then neem oil, then sea buckthorn oil. They all helped a little but not enough to get rid of them completely. For me, what seems to have been working lately is a multi-remedy approach.

1.) I laundered my towels after each use. I changed my bed linens each night. When I washed my linens, towels and clothes I used hot water. I tried not to wear anything that required a delicate or cold water wash. My clothes were worn once and then washed. I used our normal laundry detergent, but I added about 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup of Borax to each load.

2.) I lightly dusted food grade diatomaceous earth* everywhere that I spent a lot of time that had some kind of fabric covering. I sprinkled it on the carpet near my bed and chairs, on my chairs and sofas, my mattress, on the mattress pad, in my pillowcases and on my sheets. I even dusted it on my legs and arms.

2.) I started taking 1 Tbsp of food grade diatomaceous earth* dissolved in a glass of water daily. At first I took 1 T in the morning and 1 T in the mid afternoon. After a couple of weeks I tapered off to 1 T at night. Some people are unable to sleep after taking it, but it actually helped me sleep better. I did this for 30 days. Once I started taking this the scabs and itching became more noticeable on my arms and legs. It seems it was bringing whatever mites were under my skin to the surface. I was really scratching then, but at least they were on the run.

3.) For relief, I covered my eyes in organic coconut oil. I did not pour it in my eyes, I just applied it externally to my lashes and brows. For the rest of my body, every day and night I applied, externally, some bentonite detox clay (the kind you take internally) everywhere that it itched. I would even daub the bentonite clay on my scalp where it itched. It will leave a thin film of clay on your skin and may look and feel dry but it definitely relieves the itch. I would then shampoo my hair every day with tea tree oil shampoo. On occasion I would daub tea tree oil* wherever I felt the itch.

It has been a little over a month now and they seem to be gone, but I will continue my treatments, for a while until I am absolutely certain they are gone.

*Please note that some people will react to tea tree oil. It did not bother me, but it can be an irritation to some. Also I underline food grade diatomaceous earth as that is the only kind you can take internally or allow to touch your skin. I know this has been mentioned before, but it bears repeating that there a two kinds of diatomaceous earth and you need to be certain that you get the food grade kind. You can usually find all of these remedies in your local health food store or online.

<description>[YEA] Nikki from Seattle, Washington writes: "I also thought I was infested. Interestyly, I started itching again 2 years to the date of my last 'infestation'.

Last time I was treated with permithium (sp) cream and so was my family. My Dr. thought I had scabies. My family showed no symtoms. This was a 4 month long ordeal of washing, steaming, vacuuming etc.... I probably spent $1000 on cleaning alone.

I went back to the Derm and she did a skin scraping, so that she could take a look under the mycroscope. She said that I do not have scabies, that it must be some sort of alergy. I was going out of my mind, and by the end of summer the rash was gone and we went back to normal.

Fast forward to spring of this year. I really feel the crawling sensation and find it hard to believe that an alergy can feel like a bug and a bite! But, I beleive her. We did a skin scraping again.... And nothing. No bug, feces, legs... nothing.

Something is blooming in my yard that has triggered an allergy. I am starting claritin and a night time antihistimin to get my system to calm down.

The moral here is to get the skin scrapping before self diagnosing and going crazy thinking that you have some sort of parisite.

I love this sight, but wish that the mention of getting a skin scraping FIRST was mentioned somewhere.

Sincerely, Nikki

<description> Julian from Toronto, Ontario writes: "Hi Guys,

I have a very interesting story I want to share with all of you who are suffering from a mite problem.

About 9 months ago I was doing a yoga session at a friend's house, in his attic to be precise and I lay my head on the carpet floor for about five minutes...

That evening I felt a strong "bite" or "pinch" on my scalp. At the time it didn't worry me too much because I had no idea and had never heard of scabies, bird mites or any type of mite that could be a problem for humans…. Boy was I ignorant. The bites got worse and more frequent and a few days later I felt like a "popping" feeling and the spreading of little insects all over my head they spread down to my shoulders, arms, legs, in short all over my body. I could actually feel them walking down my cheek and could catch them with my fingers. These little buggers felt like a grain of sand and they would bite me everywhere!!

The problem was mainly in my scalp but after a few months it spread to the webbing in my toes too and they would then come up my legs as well!!

Despite washing my hair every night with anti nit shampoo the problem had gotten out of control and my small apartment got totally infested.

At first to keep them at bay I would blow dry my hair and body after showering with anti nit shampoo, 1% permethrin. During this period I tried everything I could and in different combinations and strengths until I got a handle on the problem.

My first real discovery was citronella essential oil mixed with alcohol and a touch of eurax lotion. This combination I would spray on my hair and it would kill or stun the mites for about 4 hours…

I then elaborated on this by adding to the citronella: peppermint, eucaliptus, clove, neem, tee tree, oregano essential olis as well as a bit of regular olive oil…. I mixed aproximately 10 drops of each, maybe more peppermint and eucalyptus and then added rubbing alcohol and put in a mini sprayer of 60cc. I sprayed my head and feet throughout the day…. This was really working but I didn't feel it was killing the female below the skin…. How could I get to her??

The answer to this many of you may not believe but it is worth a try because it is totally free!!

I used my own body energy, that's right I used my own bio-electricity to zap them. This idea came about by a chance meeting with a friend on a bus ride. He told me he had been in a terrible health about a year ago with liver problems, prostate and back pain and that a therapist who used energy healing had cured him of all his problems and had then taught him how to do it to himself. I asked him how it was done and he taught me. I started to do it immediately on the bus!! And I was amazed to see that the problem started to decrease at once!! It is very simple so here it is:

Sitting (you can do this while driving btw) imagine an energy beam of white light coming down through the crown of the head. Take this energy and concentrate it more on more in the chest area or the belly which ever you feel is better. Then exhale and try to feel that you are pushing the energy down to your feet. You WILL feel this it is not imaginary by the way then keep playing with it and try directing the energy to the problem areas of your body.

I am not an expert in this so don't ask me to be more specific just inhale through the nose and visualize, feel and direct the energy.

I now believe that when the body is at its full potential of energy all the little buggers just can't handle it and leave you alone.

By the way other bits of info that might help:

1. Take showers and then rinse the tub clean!! I thought that taking long soaks would help. Wrong! These buggers just float and the hot water doesn't kill them so when you get out of the water they just land back on you. If you use bleach that does kill them but it screws up your skin.

2. Tumble dry clothes on high heat or bleach with water soaks to cleaned my clothes.

3. Gave up sugar, soda and chocolate.. this really helped!! The bugs got slower and less aggressive.

Good luck to you all and may God bless us all.

<description> Brandy from Denham Springs, Louisiana writes: "I went through a horrific experience with bird mites. At first, I was the only sufferer since females are usually attacked prior to anyone else in the home. I felt alone since no one believed me and started to think I was going insane. I lost sleep every-night and became delusional, enough to where I lost my job. My intense research brought me to birdmites.org where I finally had an answer. I went to the local pest store, bought residual indoor and outdoor products, fumigated the attic and also sprayed the yard and trees. A few months later did the same thing to kill the rest that hatched. It worked!!

Finally figured out that they came from a dead bird that was found in the attic after a hurricane. Also noticed it got worse when it rained or was humid outside (which is common in the south). If it would have gone on any longer, I probably would have taken my life -- that's how severe it became and I'm not a suicidal or depressed person. I am still angry that I was so alone and want to help anyone suffering from it. It can be defeated!!!

<description> Justin from Namyangju, Gyeonggi-do, South Korea writes: "Hello,
I have been using ZZ ointment for the last 3 months in an attempt to kill the deomodex mites that I believe are causing my itching, tickling sensation, and weeping/crusting bumps on my face. I went on a mont vacation and my symptoms began to clear up. When I returned to my apartment in South Korea, the symptoms returned. As a result, I believe the mites are living in my linens, clothes, pillows, or furniture. Could you please provide any information on how to elliminate these mites? I do not have a dryer unfortunately, but I have ordered 21 Mule Borax and homepathic borax. Any other suggestions would be greatly apprecitated. Why aren't there any over the counter or prescriptions available for this by the way? Thanks again, Justin"</description>

<description>[BETTER BUT NOT CURED] Leevra from London, United Kingdom writes: "Hi, Firstly I wanted to say thank you to forums like this, where people can share their experiences, without which I would have probably gone mental and contaminated my body with more harsh chemicals! I'm not free of these mites yet but I seem to be on the mend (touch wood) and also wanted to share what has helped me so far.

I think I'm onto my fourth week of hosting these little buggers but have been actively trying to get rid of them for the last two. Not sure where I picked them up from. I did some volunteering with homeless people but also slept on friends' couches and was around different people over the festive season... Who knows! These mites do not discriminate. I should've gone to the doctors sooner than later though... Even if they were not so certain...

So, one dose of Permethrin didn't work. After reading comments on this site and a million others, two days after the slather of permethrin I set out to look for SULPHUR SOAP, TEA TREE OIL, BORAX and NEEM OIL. Unsuccessful in securing the latter 2 within supermarkets/pharmacies.

If you live in the UK (or London at least) don't bother scouring the shelves for Borax. Shops don't sell it anymore (not even Boots), the usual health &amp; safety talk. You can get it online though (i haven't tried it yet).

Unfortunately I dont have the luxury of a bath. A good soapy lather of sulphur suds all over your body for a few minutes, day and night seems to have helped so far (it has also been amazing for my skin! But you need to moisturise after as it dries it out) After showering I'd put Tea Tree oil neat on lesions and bumps. Stings like anything on the lesions! But gradually subsides. My lesions seem to have joined, from all the scratching, so I've got big ugly blotches on my trunk. Try not to scratch and don't scrub your body too harshly either. Once your skin breaks you're open to secondary infections.

If I feel the lesions need a break I don't have the second shower but will still rub something over them. They wont heal if it keeps getting wet and I rebreak the skin. I eventually stopped putting neat Tea Tree Oil on them as I think it was perhaps too strong for the lesions that seemed to be taking a while to heal. Instead I mixed a few drops with aloe vaseline lip balm and smothered that on. Other than smelling like a tub of vicks it really helped!!

By day 6 the crawling sensation and need to scratch seemed to pick up again. I figured that it was hatched mites (7 day cycle or whatever! )I was even feeling them on my eyelashes.. YUCK! Frustrated I slathered on the second tube of permethrin. Regretted it because I felt some side effects but it has probably helped me to get to the stage I'm at now.. However the side effects although slight were scary.. And everything else I've read about it.

A day after the 2nd slather I purchased some Neem Oil and Neem and coconut cream online from NeemTeam. I continue to shower with sulphur soap. For bedtime I rub Neem Oil all over the infected areas and for the day I use the cream. It doesn't smell as bad as I thought it would (I read in many forums about the stench). Actually it just smells very nutty.. Not the nicest nutty smell but it could be a whole lot worse!!

It's day 7 again and I've been on alert for new bumps, the increased need to scratch or crawlies etc. So far... So good. The lesions are healing too. Much less need to scratch now and near zero with the crawly feeling. I initially thought the advice about 1. Washing everything everyday, 2. Not wearing anything twice, 3. Getting a plastic cover for your mattress was excessive.. But it isn't.

I had not been as militant in the first week.

I don't have time or the facilities to wash everything everyday so before the evening shower the days clothes go into a plastic bag kept away from everything else. Some people might mistake me for an employee of the laundrette now... But who cares. Hot wash and hot dry!!

I've bagged the clothing I don't wear as often, the duvet, pillows etc and stored them away (ie no longer in my room). I've isolated the clothes I'll likely wear to one closet, so that I'm not having to go through all my drawers etc. Never one to iron, I now have an iron LOL. I've read a few times about the mites not liking extreme heat/cold so I'll iron the sheet I sleep in if I can't manage to get it wash and dried. I'll iron clothes if I feel I need to. It's winter at present so for once I'm happy to get a good chill over me now and then. I just picture those mites getting a good shock!

I'm using the plastic side of an inflatable bed to sleep on top of my mattress and my sleeping bag to keep me warm. I've read a few times about the mites not liking the plastic and how they can burrow into your mattress and come back to feast on you when you return to bed. GROSS! At least I can scrub the plastic and put the sleeping bag in the drier.

My room gets hoovered at least twice a week, I sprinkle soda crystals and shake and vac on the floor before so. Thats probably excessive and I don't know if it does anything but you start to do these things lol. I've noticed a lot of dry skin on the floor (its a dark colour) due to peeling from the lesions as they heal and dried out bumps so its been another reason to hoover more often.

And don't wear your hair out, especially if you have long hair. Those buggers will crawl up and onto your scalp. I started noticing the crawling sensation on my head after the first permethrin tube so I started washing my hair with the sulphur soap too. That's worked.

I'm eating more healthy foods and keeping a positive attitude too. This is definitely helping to keep up the regime and hopefully will get rid of these mites sooner than later (when I read people had it months I nearly cried). Looking back to December I think my immune system was low - lethargic and all!

I've got olive oil, olive soap and grounded tumeric on standby... And will need to buy another bar of sulphur soap soon. I'm building up quite a collection..

While I can't wait to be rid of these mites and the scarring, I'm grateful that it has turned me to sites such as this and made me aware of the natural products I'm now using on and in my body. It's something I am going to continue with even after the mites are gone.
