EPSOM SALTS

1 YEA

[YEA]  03/20/2007: Denise (dawn@risqo.com) from Georgetown, Guyana writes: "My remedy for keeping crippling cramps and bloating at bay during my period is a very simple one that only requires ONE DOSE per month. I simply take 1/2 teaspoon of epsom salts in 1 glass of water on the 2nd or the 3rd day BEFORE my period begins and I have very little pain sometimes but NONE AT ALL most months. A dear friend of my mother's told me about this a few months ago and I've used it religiously since. I've even told my friends about it and I find that I don't experience any bloating either. I am sure this will work for you. Usually I mix the salts with a senna leaf solution but this isn't necessary. I would drink at least 3 glasses of plain water during the days before (this makes your flow heavy on the first 2 days but it gets lighter after that). The dose of Epsom salts is too small to hurt your tummy or give you more than one extra trip to the bathroom but it is enough to effectively clean your intestines."

EVENING PRIMROSE OIL

1 YEA

[YEA]  06/11/2007: Tessa (talexander@hotmail.com) from Kissimmee, USA writes: "I had killer menstrual cramps all my adult life. I am now 38 and was fed up with cramps that consumed my life for about 2 weeks each month. I would get cramps before my period and for about 5 to 6 days during. I dreaded the thought of getting my period. 1200 milligrams of prescription ibuprofen every 4 hours was not helping me anymore. My liver and stomach was overloaded from the drugs. I couldn't function at work or at home. I was high all the time from the ibuprofen. I would have to take days off from work just to get through my period. I came across an article about evening primrose oil and how it can dramatically ease cramps and pms. Well I decided to try it not really thinking it would work, after all I had tried every remedy I could find. Nothing helped. Because there is cancer in my family I would not take birth control pills to ease the cramps. I started taking evening primrose oil 2 weeks before my period. 1 with every meal. The day my period was supposed to start I upped it to 2 pills with every meal. Well my period came and I didn't even know it. NO cramps. I didn't get pms or painful breast either. I didn't even have to take ibuprofen. I am shocked!!! This is the first time in 26 years that I have no cramps. I don't know how it works, but for me it is a miracle worker. I wish I knew this years ago. I have lost so much time laying in bed or on the couch from cramps. I am so happy I found this remedy. It has changed my life."

GINGER

2 YEA

[YEA]  10/26/2008: Jennifer from St. Thomas, Virgin Islands writes: "Ginger for Menstural Cramps

I used to take Motrin Ibuprofrin for menstural cramps, and now I am so happy to have discovered a natural cure.
I boil 8 cups of water add about 2 inches of fresh ginger root that has been cut into 1/8" disks. You can mash up the ginger if desired. Boil the ginger for three minutes, then simmer for ten minutes. You can drink as ginger water, or add a tea bag (i like to add two green tea bags). Two cups of ginger water should relieve the cramps. I usally save the rest in my fridge and drink as needed."

[YEA]  01/06/2008: Pete from West Fargo, ND writes: "Sometime ago a gal friend was wearing a wrist brace for carpal tunnel. I told her about ginger root and gave her about ten capsules to try. About one week later I saw her and asked about the results. She said it helped with the carpal tunnel but it made the biggest difference with her menstrual cramps within about 15 to 20 minutes!"

IODORAL IODINE

1 YEA

[YEA]  12/07/2006: Heidi from Troup, TX writes: "I had been menstruating for 7 weeks straight (very heavy) and went to my family doctor. She wanted to put me on birth control. I am 37 and I smoke so I didn't think that was a good choice. I decided to see me chiropractor who put me on the iodoral iodine and my menstrual period stopped in 3 days and has been regular for over 7 months. I also feel better and have more energy. I can tell if I haven't taken them. I start to feel "blah"."

MAGNESIUM

1 YEA

[YEA]  05/24/2008: Sagi from Hamilton, Canada writes: "Had painful menstrual cramps when I was 14/15 years old. The doctor put me on the B.C. pill to alleviate the cramps. Years later, my friend taught me about the importance of magnesium...how muscles need calcium to clench, and magnesium to relax. I started taking 1/4 oz. of magnesium in ionic liquid form, and no longer experienced the warning cramps prior to my period coming on. Wish my mother had known this when I was a teen! I am anxious to start on molasses, as I am looking for a more feasible source of magnesium. Currently believe I have fibroid tumors due to the excessive flow, as well as anemia. Thank you everyone for your testimonials!"

[YEA]  11/09/2007: Taylor from NY, USA writes: "I have been doing Oil pulling for one month. I read that it helps hormonal problems, but i didnt think it would erradicate my cramps. But after pulling for 1 month, my menstrual cramps and other pms associated problems are almost non existant. For the first time in years i was able to spend the first day of my course like any other normal day, not bent over in agonizing pain. And my skin has cleared up as well. My sister started OP and after a week she had the same outcome!! No Cramps. I will continue to OP and wait to see all the benefits from "pulling" the toxins out of my body. I also find that it is VERY!!! important that you brush your teeth and drink a large glass of water after pulling because you are releasing these poisonous toxins and you want to get them out."

OMEGA 3

1 YEA

[YEA]  10/31/2008: JB from QLD, Australia writes: "I have suffered from extreme menstrual cramps for years. I started taking Omega 3 Fish Oil capsules for 1 week before my period started (the recommended dose on the label). The fish oil reduced my PMS symptoms, and my cramps were reduced by approx 80%. I didn't even have to take painkillers and I slept better too. NB - you need to start taking the pills 1 week before your period starts. It may be too late to start taking them when the cramps start.

Research on fish oil and menstrual cramps can be found here: http://www.oilofpisces.com/menstrualcramps.html"

RED RASBERRY TEA

1 YEA

[YEA]  09/03/2005: Leslie from Frankfort, KY writes: "to slow down a heavy flow drink red raspberry tea. Make sure the tea is the color of blood very dark and drink a 6-8 oz cup with honey if wanted or needed for sweetness. It works every time."

04/26/2006: Minni from NYC replies: "With regard to Leslie of Frankfurt, I want to add the following for stopping uncontrollable bleeding, (But first, please note that prolonged viewing of computer monitors can ALSO TRIGGER bleeding AND WORSE, and that the following stuff will PROTECT against computer monitors' multi-symptom triggers BUT ONLY TO A DEGREE). Also note that while cherries/raspberries may clot bleeding internally, purple grapes, apples and garlic have the opposite effect since they thin the blood. The latter can also prevent wounds from clotting. Computer fluorescence can ALSO prevent wounds from clotting.

Black cherry concentrate OR Bing cherries OR cherry yogurt ARE EXCELLENT FOR STOPPING BLEEDING AND FOR PROTECTING MUCOSAL LININGS. Note that someone told me that RASPBERRY concentrate ENEMAS helped her. Both of these (black cherry and raspberry enemas) may even prove more potent than the raspberry tea mentioned."

RED RASPBERRY TEA, BLACKSTRAP MOLASSES AND ACV

1 YEA

[YEA]  07/17/2007: Michelle (divineorders2003@sbcglobal.net) from Joplin, MO writes: "OK, I read all your postings. I've been menstruating for 21 days now, and usually only have 5 days. So I got some Raspberry Tea, put 2 Tbsps. of Blackstrap Molasses in it (a little heavy, but tolerable) and ACV in grape juice (not a highlight of my day). Here's to hoping it works. I'm trying to get pregnant, so the 3 week period is not helping. I'll keep you posted."

[YEA]  03/20/2007: Kristina from Waukesha, WI writes: "Hi, my grandma used to make us drink strong black tea each time we had the flu, as it would stop vomiting and help settle the stomach. I have tried it with green tea as well and it works the same, and usually you don't need more than a few sips before it starts working. Now I don't even wait for the vomiting to start--I go straight for the tea upon first symptoms of the flu.

I have also used this remedy for severe menstrual cramps and diahrrea and those times when painful gas gets in the way of elimination. One time I even tried it for a headache and it went away. Works wonders!"

TUMS

1 YEA

[YEA]  11/21/2005: Tina from Greenville, SC writes: "I began taking tums as a calcium supplement; to help flatten my mid section. I take 3 tums a day/ 900mg. after two weeks of taking the tums; it was time for for my menstrual cycle. I noticed that my flow had gone from absorbing one tampon every 2hrs.(give or take 15mins.) to every 3hrs. The next month my period continued to flow every 3 to 4hrs. for 3 days. I also take ortho novum birth control pills. (however, this change in my cycle took place when I began to take tums in addition to the bc pills. So tums may be of help to you. I still take them... Faith, for a light menstrual cycle is helpful too."

TURMERIC

1 YEA

[YEA]  04/20/2008: Tiffany (august18th2003@yahoo.com) from Watertown, New York writes: "I have really bad problems with menstrual cramps during my period. One day my sister suggested trying a spice called Tumeric to help relieve them. Saying she had read this on the internet somewhere. So I tried it. She was right. Mixing a teaspoon of Tumeric into a quarter cup of hot water and drinking it, followed by a small glass of milk (to help take the bitterness out of your mouth), relieves cramps in about ten minutes. I swear by it today and use it everytime I need relief."

VITAMIN C

1 YEA

[YEA]  08/06/2007: MARTHA from LAREDO, TEXAS writes: "I was having a very heavy menstrual period, I was miserable I could not go out any where this was my second month and the only thing the nurse from my doctor's office recommended was to rest. My doctor said I was a candidate for a D&C if my period would continue the same. I was recommended to use vitamin c 1 to 2 1000mg pills a day. I was on my 3rd day of heavy torment and I took 2 1000mg vitamin c this made my heavy flow to ease up and I continued my regular menstrual period the next two days. I was recommended to use vitamin c 1000mg one week before my period one to two pills a day and take it all thru the last day of the menstrual period. This really works I am back to normal and happy to share this with other women who are suffering what I did."

ZINC

1 YEA

[YEA]  02/13/2008: Major from Wichita, Kansas writes: "I wonder why this remedy is not more well known. Zinc supplements relieve menstrual cramps - 100% success rate in almost every case.

My teenage daughter began her mense cycles early in her life and almost right away suffered from extreme menstrual cramps. Each month she would be bed-ridden for at least two days with a heatpad wrapped around her tummy. Missing school was the norm. And any future activities usually had to be planned around her cycles as she would be totally debilitated for at least three days of the month. This went on for quite awhile with tylenol or some other pain reliever being the usual protocol though providing little in the way of relief.

Visits to her doctor usually brought up the discussion of birth control pills as one alternative to relieve the monthly pain. And so after several years of her suffering in this way, we relented, and she began a regimen of Ortho TryCyclene. Admittedly, we were relieved to finally see her free of her painful menses and for the first time in a long time she was enjoying her life without worry of the dreaded cycle each month. She could finally plan activities without worry! But in the back of my mind I was not at all happy about someone so young being put on hormone therapy.

One day during my routine research on the internet, I came across a website belonging to George Eby. Mr. Eby is the guy who pioneered the remedy of zinc lozenges for the common cold. He has also done alot of research on magnesium for depression. His website has a ton of useful information:

http://george-eby-research.com/

At any rate, while at his site I stumbled upon research with zinc as a remedy for menstrual cramps:

(this opens up as a pdf file)
http://george-eby-research.com/html/zinc-for-cramps.pdf

In some of the case studies of young women taking zinc gluconate, some became alarmed that they had become pregnant because their menses failed to occur - a testement to how successful the zinc protocol is.

We purchased the recommended type of zinc and began our daughter on this regimen after discontinuing the Ortho Tricyclene. Lo and behold! It works! We have been so overwhelmingly amazed that such a simple supplement works. If you follow the protocol in the pdf file, I am confident this will work for any woman suffering from painful menstrual cramps as our daughter did."
