11/27/2012: Patricia from Milton, Kentucky: "I have had this horrible disease in my mouth for almost 2 years. Unfortunately my Primary Doctor was passing it off as a problem with diabetes. He was giving me Nistatin rinses, then that magic potion, YUCK, .... Then I was sent to an ENT. He tried lozenges, and Oravig.... Nothing worked. So, My primary FINALLY got a look at my mouth when it was flared up. YIPPEE!!!!!!! Off to an oral surgeon.... After 2 biopsies, I got the diagnosis. NO CURE PEOPLE....... Now I see a Pathologist this Thursday. I do find some relief avoiding acidy foods, soda pop, and brush my teeth with only baking soda. All my medications except my thyroid and insulin were put on hold. I NEVER GET OVER ONE WEEK WITHOUT GETTING A FLARE UP!!! I JUST PRAY THAT IT HASN'T GOTTEN TO THE WORST CONDITIONS. I just recently asked my primary doc, of 15 years, to check me for Hep. C and Luekemia..... No go... Well, I'm gonna ask the Pathologist for those tests.... I have hurt in my liver area for quite sometime. PRAYING FOR RELIEF.... AND FOR ALL THOSE 2% OF PEOPLE OUT THERE WITH THE SAME DISEASE.............:)"Replies
11/27/2012: Rsw from Uniontown, Oh replies: "Hi Patricia, I have been diagnosed with LP for almost ten years after a biopsy of my mouth. If it is in your mouth, it is systemic (as in nails, skin and/or mucous membranes). I hope you have seen Daisy's posts on Lichen Sclerosus, a close relative of LP. She has cured herself with nonalcoholic essiac tea tonic so the possibility of resolution is out there. I will receive essiac tea herbs on Friday and hope it will be effective. I have been on LDN (low dose naltrexone) for a year and a half with no improvement, which makes me question if this is an autoimmune problem. (I have seen too many use LDN with success to doubt it's effectiveness on many autoimmune diseases) Also, the low Oxalate diet has helped others, along with NAG and other supplements.
I believe Lisa's suggestion of taking water kefir several times a day is beneficial to balance the good yeast and bacteria in the body. Articles link LP with Hep C (60%), statin drugs(and other heart and BP drugs), dental work, stress, candida, and previous injuries, but it is not even marginally understood. Sharing what does or does not help gets us closer to some resolution without wasting so many resources. Best wishes!"
12/05/2012: Vooloovoo from Naugatuck, Ct replies: "Are you sure it isn't candida?"
07/12/2014: Syed from California, US replies: "I suffered with Oral Lichen Planus for 1.5 years (2012/2013) and tried Aloe vera mouth wash, toothpaste, Dexamthasone mouth wash, Cyclosporin mouth wash, baking soda and etc etc. Nothing helped until my dermatologist, Dr. Phaneuf (Kaiser Permanente) put me on Hydroxychloroquine 200mg (twice a day) and Clobetasol oral base that I rubbed on my inflammed gums twice a day. Within one week the inflammation went down and reduced my Hydroxychloroquine 200mg to once a day. Now after a year I have no inflammed gums and I use the Clobetasol every other night.
I am writing this in the hope my experience will help someone else with this horrible disease. I don't know if this will work for everyone but after suffering for so long I felt compelled to share my experience."

07/15/2012: Mianca from Fairburn, Georgia, United States: "My son is 6 years old and got diagnosed with lichen planus 6 months ago. Although the medication he is taking has relieved him of the dry scaly skin, lesions, and red irritated bumps associated with the disorder, I have grown weary trying to find a remedy for the scarring and spots on his skin. He was misdiagnosed five times by other doctors that thought it was eczema before the right analysis was made. Please send me any recommendations that would be safe for a child to get rid of the spots that pretty much cover his entire body."
06/25/2012: Lynne from Redington Beach, Florida Usa: "Who is Ted and what does he recommend? I have L.P. in my mouth, and on my lower arms. Just been diagonosed and would love and greatly appreciate help! Thank you!"
05/09/2012: Taylor from St. petersburg, Florida: "Please help me. I have been suffering with a fungus on my scalp and have been to several dermatogolist for the past 15 years and to no avail. I now look like bozo the clown. I'm now a 52 year old female. This started back in 1999. Please help. I once had a beautiful head of hair and now have to wear wigs. I really have hair loss in the visual aspect like bozo the clown. The dermatogolist said it's Lichen Planus on my scalp. Lastly 2009, I've had steroid shots in the scalp which was very painful and years later now it's the worst. Other solutions they have used are 2003 fugoid tincture, don't think this was used very long, clobeta propionate topical, fluocinolone acetonide topical oil (apply for few hours then shampoo out), ketoconazole cream.
The symptons are itchy red scalp and hair loss. It started as a small pea size in center of head and now has spread in a larger circle. I have no other health problems are on any meds except cholestorol, but that is under control w good htl. 5'4 190 lbs, 1 ovary only. I take a multi vit daily, fish oil, hawthorne supplment, coq10, garlic three time a week. Please help me, Sir. I don't want to be bald. Happilly married of 28 years. 05/09/2012: Linda from Blaine, Wa replies: "Hi Taylor, I would suggest using UT (Urine Therapy) on your scalp. Simply collect the first mornings urine by passing the first bit and then collecting the midstream only. You can rinse your hair with this and leave it on for a good hour or more. Then rinse out with conditioner. It has no odour and is wonderful for hair and scalp conditions. I was losing my hair due to a fungal infection. I lived with this condition for over 4 years and tried everything. Spent thousands $$$ trying to eradicate to no avail. I started researching UT via Earth Clinic and also Google. After the first application I noticed a huge difference and am no longer losing my hair. My hair feels soft and the red bumps have gone away. Hope this helps."
04/03/2012: Rose from Bangalore, India: "Hi, I am 26 and identified with lichen planus pigmentosus. My Doctor has prescribed topical corticosteroid, hydroquinone cream and Suncros Sunscreen. So this like a morning cream, night cream and a day cream, which I should repeat every 4 hrs (the sunscreen). I find myself spending a lot of time on creams. After 1 month of treatment I find that my skin as a whole has improved, but not much changes to the marks on the neck and face. I also take an Oxidon plus tablet on a daily basis. The side effect is that, now I have lots of pimples on my neck. Should I continue this treatment? Plz advise me..."Replies
04/18/2012: Dcheselka from Nobleton, Florida, Us replies: "I just ordered sulpher tablets because that's what doctors gave me when I was a kid, whenever I got sores, I hope it works. Will post back on that. Nothing else I've tried has worked, like antibiotics, neosporin, calamine, salt bath. I decided to go to work inside to boost my immune system and enjoy foods or drinks that are antioxidents. Good luck - i'll be back to let you know how that works!"

04/28/2011: Hating Planus from Boston, Ma: "i was diagnosed with lichen planus about 14 years ago... At first only got it on the ankles and wrist... And was treated with steroid creams. Eleven years later... Got it again this time started on my elbow and moved down my arm... Eventually spreading all over my body! Had a biopsy done bcuz some of the sores were pus filled bubbles... Drs diagnosis was a lichen planus eruption caused by ibuprophen!!! Ive taken this medicine plenty of times before and this has never happened.... Its all over me dark samll spots and some massive clusters... Everywhere!!! I hate them.. Ive had all the topical steroid creams... The high doses of prednisone... Even the uv light treatments... Which ultimately burned me.... Now I have also been diagnosed with eczema ! Some spots on my face and neck... I always feel like I have bugs biting me! I want the spots to go away... Dr says the spots should go away on their own in a yr or two... Well its been 3 yrs going on 4 and its not budging!!!
I hate my body... And hate the summer I dont even go swimming anymore. I want somthing natural to get rid of these scars... And I want desperately to know what is the cause of LICHEN PLANUS and why drs dont think it odd or damaging enuff to look into the reasons why and what the cure could be..... very uncomfortable with my skin."Replies
04/28/2011: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi, I'm so sorry you are so miserable. Have you looked into Traditional Chinese medicine? I am sure they can help you. I've seen so many amazing results w/ TCM. They do find the root cause of symptoms the body manifests unlike Western medicine which gives you medications to cover up the symptoms and also leading to other issues. In Chinese Medicine it's fascinating how seemingly unrelated things are all from the same source so they treat the organs for the symptoms that are manifesting. You might want to look into it. I hope this helps. Best to you..."
04/29/2011: Bill from San Fernando, San Fernando, Philippines replies: "Hi Hating Planus... It's well known that doctor's don't have any clue about lichen planus. When this happens they call it an auto-immune problem.
Try this as a simple topical remedy:
Add 1 part by volume 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
Add Borax crystals until no more dissolves
Add 1 part by volume Milk of Magnesia
Half fill a small whisky glass with 3% HP. Add Borax crystals until no more dissolve then add MoM to the top. Use this to spread over the lichen planus area. Leave it on the skin for 30 minutes or longer -- it will form a white powder on the skin. Then wash off and apply lavender oil.
You can buy the ordinary 3% HP chemical grade and the MoM at any chemists. The borax can be bought in any supermarket as 20 Mule Team Borax -- sold in the laundry isle.
Just using the MoM on its own got rid of my own tinea cruris(jock itch) of 8 years. I would apply it after my shower before bed and wash it off in the morning. Disappeared in 2 days. MoM is also very cool and wonderfully soothing when applied to the skin. MoM kills all microbes in 2 ways. First, it has an alkaline pH of about 10 -- enough to kill any virus, bacteria or fingus. Second, it is hydrophobic, drives water out of the area quickly and dehydrates the microbes, killing them.
Borax is the ultimate fungal killer. Also kills mycoplasmas as well.
HP is also a broad spectrum microbial killer.
Here are some more options for you from Ted:
05/10/2011: Elly from Topeka, Kansas replies: "Hi Bill, I tried the borax, 3% H2O2, & MoM in a shot glass like you said but the H2O2 and the borax became rock hard after a short time and I'm having trouble getting it out of the shot glass. It did take away the itch but the next day the itch is back. I take it this has to be repeated each day? I will put less borax in next time. The lavender oil is so strong and gives me a headache."
07/26/2012: Ashwini from Faridabad, India replies: "Hi I'm ashwini. I have been suffering from lichen planus for almost 2 years. Well till now all the itching and all has reduced but I'm left with the scars. So it would be great if you could help me out on this my age is 16 and I am female. Pls I serioulsy need a very good remedy that could help me to get rid of this scar asap."
02/13/2011: Quinn from New York, Ny, United States: "Dear Ted
Recently I read your reponse on curing Lichen Planus. I as well am a victim of this dreadful rash and have suffered with it, and other forms of Psoraisis for years now and currently have breakouts of Lichen Planus in several areas of my body. I did start your mentioned program, and am now using the lavender oil, which has been most helpful in slowing down the itch. I also have adapted the lemon and baking soda twice a day. I am confused as you mentioned that the lemon and baking soda should help destroy the lichen planus, as the alkkaline will balance ones own ph. This lead me to check my ph which is very high already in the alkaline... Higher then 7. 5. I am now questioning my need to take the lemon and baking soda and wonder if not that then what can I do to destroy the lichen planus or at best put it at bay for a while.
Desperately looking forward to hearing from you.
02/17/2014: Abeera from Pakistan: "Hi, I am suffering from LP. It's all over my body, scalp and now oral, can u please suggest me how to use sulphur for oral lichen planus? I am so desperate by this LP. Please do inform me if there is any other remedy available easily in village side"Replies
02/17/2014: Rsw from Uniontown, Oh replies: "Abeera,
I can tell you what has worked in oral LP of the mouth for several of us. It is probiotics that contain the BLIS K12 and BLIS M18 strains of probiotics. After brushing your teeth at night before bed, dissolve one tablet or lozenge in your mouth and don't drink any water for at least a half hour, longer if possible. I successfully used Jarrow brand lozenges, but they seem to be difficult to buy lately, so I switched to Carotec brand from Naples, Florida. These help heal the mouth but do not extend elsewhere in the body, unfortunately. One man found some healing by using 1 teaspoon of Black seed Oil daily. If you look under the ailments tab at the top of the page, Lichen Planus, you can see some suggestions from Ted and Bill that may be helpful for the LP on your skin. Best wishes."
[YEA] 10/18/2009: Sativa Jones from Pahoa, Hawaii: "I was diagnosed two months ago with lichen planus. I have the rash on my ankles, inner wrists, underside of my tongue and inside the walls of my mouth. For the itch on my ankles and wrist I rub three things on the rash that immediately stop the itch. First I rub tea tree oil on it followed by olive oil (organic) and baking soda. This is not a cure for lichen planus only a treatment for the itch.
Diet is key to controlling the intensity of the rash. Basically you have to eliminate all sugars (including honey and agave) dont eat any bread or white rice no processed food etc. you have to get super clean on your diet. I have since gone 90% raw which helps alot.
I got rid of the bumps inside my mouth and the painful lesions on the underside of my tongue by gargling with my urine. I know this might be hard to believe but google "urine therapy" and you will see that urine has a long and ancient history of being used as a medicine."
09/10/2010: Blackandmoore from Boston, Ma, Usa replies: "I found this very interesting been suffering with the rash on my hands, arms, feet, legs and lower back. I have been using Aloe, and had made those diet changes you talked about. However over the past few weeks, I have been eating more sugar and white flour and for sure it has flared up again. Thanks for your suggestions."
