04/28/2011: Hating Planus from Boston, Ma: "i was diagnosed with lichen planus about 14 years ago... At first only got it on the ankles and wrist... And was treated with steroid creams. Eleven years later... Got it again this time started on my elbow and moved down my arm... Eventually spreading all over my body! Had a biopsy done bcuz some of the sores were pus filled bubbles... Drs diagnosis was a lichen planus eruption caused by ibuprophen!!! Ive taken this medicine plenty of times before and this has never happened.... Its all over me dark samll spots and some massive clusters... Everywhere!!! I hate them.. Ive had all the topical steroid creams... The high doses of prednisone... Even the uv light treatments... Which ultimately burned me.... Now I have also been diagnosed with eczema ! Some spots on my face and neck... I always feel like I have bugs biting me! I want the spots to go away... Dr says the spots should go away on their own in a yr or two... Well its been 3 yrs going on 4 and its not budging!!!
I hate my body... And hate the summer I dont even go swimming anymore. I want somthing natural to get rid of these scars... And I want desperately to know what is the cause of LICHEN PLANUS and why drs dont think it odd or damaging enuff to look into the reasons why and what the cure could be..... very uncomfortable with my skin."
Replies04/28/2011: Lisa from Thousand Oaks, Ca, Usa replies: "Hi, I'm so sorry you are so miserable. Have you looked into Traditional Chinese medicine? I am sure they can help you. I've seen so many amazing results w/ TCM. They do find the root cause of symptoms the body manifests unlike Western medicine which gives you medications to cover up the symptoms and also leading to other issues. In Chinese Medicine it's fascinating how seemingly unrelated things are all from the same source so they treat the organs for the symptoms that are manifesting. You might want to look into it. I hope this helps. Best to you..."
04/29/2011: Bill from San Fernando, San Fernando, Philippines replies: "Hi Hating Planus... It's well known that doctor's don't have any clue about lichen planus. When this happens they call it an auto-immune problem.Try this as a simple topical remedy:
Add 1 part by volume 3% Hydrogen Peroxide
Add Borax crystals until no more dissolves
Add 1 part by volume Milk of MagnesiaHalf fill a small whisky glass with 3% HP. Add Borax crystals until no more dissolve then add MoM to the top. Use this to spread over the lichen planus area. Leave it on the skin for 30 minutes or longer -- it will form a white powder on the skin. Then wash off and apply lavender oil.
You can buy the ordinary 3% HP chemical grade and the MoM at any chemists. The borax can be bought in any supermarket as 20 Mule Team Borax -- sold in the laundry isle.
Just using the MoM on its own got rid of my own tinea cruris(jock itch) of 8 years. I would apply it after my shower before bed and wash it off in the morning. Disappeared in 2 days. MoM is also very cool and wonderfully soothing when applied to the skin. MoM kills all microbes in 2 ways. First, it has an alkaline pH of about 10 -- enough to kill any virus, bacteria or fingus. Second, it is hydrophobic, drives water out of the area quickly and dehydrates the microbes, killing them.
Borax is the ultimate fungal killer. Also kills mycoplasmas as well.
HP is also a broad spectrum microbial killer.

05/10/2011: Elly from Topeka, Kansas replies: "Hi Bill, I tried the borax, 3% H2O2, & MoM in a shot glass like you said but the H2O2 and the borax became rock hard after a short time and I'm having trouble getting it out of the shot glass. It did take away the itch but the next day the itch is back. I take it this has to be repeated each day? I will put less borax in next time. The lavender oil is so strong and gives me a headache."

02/13/2011: Quinn from New York, Ny, United States: "Dear Ted
Recently I read your reponse on curing Lichen Planus. I as well am a victim of this dreadful rash and have suffered with it, and other forms of Psoraisis for years now and currently have breakouts of Lichen Planus in several areas of my body. I did start your mentioned program, and am now using the lavender oil, which has been most helpful in slowing down the itch. I also have adapted the lemon and baking soda twice a day. I am confused as you mentioned that the lemon and baking soda should help destroy the lichen planus, as the alkkaline will balance ones own ph. This lead me to check my ph which is very high already in the alkaline... Higher then 7. 5. I am now questioning my need to take the lemon and baking soda and wonder if not that then what can I do to destroy the lichen planus or at best put it at bay for a while.
Desperately looking forward to hearing from you.
Quinn"

TEA TREE OIL, DIETARY CHANGES, URINE

[YEA] 10/18/2009: Sativa Jones from Pahoa, Hawaii: "I was diagnosed two months ago with lichen planus. I have the rash on my ankles, inner wrists, underside of my tongue and inside the walls of my mouth. For the itch on my ankles and wrist I rub three things on the rash that immediately stop the itch. First I rub tea tree oil on it followed by olive oil (organic) and baking soda. This is not a cure for lichen planus only a treatment for the itch.
Diet is key to controlling the intensity of the rash. Basically you have to eliminate all sugars (including honey and agave) dont eat any bread or white rice no processed food etc. you have to get super clean on your diet. I have since gone 90% raw which helps alot.
I got rid of the bumps inside my mouth and the painful lesions on the underside of my tongue by gargling with my urine. I know this might be hard to believe but google "urine therapy" and you will see that urine has a long and ancient history of being used as a medicine."
09/10/2010: Blackandmoore from Boston, Ma, Usa replies: "I found this very interesting been suffering with the rash on my hands, arms, feet, legs and lower back. I have been using Aloe, and had made those diet changes you talked about. However over the past few weeks, I have been eating more sugar and white flour and for sure it has flared up again. Thanks for your suggestions."

VIRGIN COCONUT OIL

[YEA] 01/06/2011: Linda from Washington, D.c.: "Lichen planus is difficult, I've had it for 7 years now. Hate it. But recently I've been using pure virgin coconut oil on my skin have not had an out break yet and always have it in Dec. near christmas time and in July. I've been using it for about 3-4 months. If one appears it just dries up in a day or so, haven't had a huge break out to know what the reaction would be. My suggestion try extra virgin coconut oil."

VITAMIN E OIL

[YEA] 02/12/2012: Dima Nesh from Amman, Jordan: "Vitamine E for Lichen Planus -- I'm going to make this short and simple. I've been dealing with stress for the past 5 years and that's when my symptoms started to show. In 2007 my first Lichen Planus breakout started to show on the inside of my wrists. I tried every medication and every cream there was. I was using vitamine E oil for my face at the time because I always read it was good for the skin so I decided to give it a try. I popped the capsule and spread the oil on the inside of my wrists and I cannot remember how they totally faded away.
I've been using it for the past 2 weeks since my recent outbreak and I have noticed a dramatic change. No itching, no redness. The rash starts to fade away by becoming brownish color. I'm using one capsule a day every day.
I do not guarantee it will work on every person because I think it depends on the severity of the outbreaks but you should definitely give it a try.
I hope it works out for all of you looking for a cure."

[YEA] 12/07/2007: Doug from Oklahoma City, Oklahoma: "I tried your treatment. Vitamin K and D and baking soda. I also used borax for a couple of weeks but had such good results got lazy and quit the borax. I was two days from going to Hawaii for our 25th anniversary and was not getting better. My doctor told me not' to go.. Two days after starting treatment I had amazing results and now the lichen planus is going away. In fact the salt water in the ocean along with some sun and the treatment had amazing results. I was using all kinds of creams for itching and two days after the treatments started have not had to use any creams.. I still have a little itching but thats just from the healing of the areas. I also am taking grape fruit seed extract and that appears to be keeping any bacterial infections from starting. I am very thankfull. Doug. ps I have had toe nail fungus for four years and doctors did not want to treat. I see that I now have pink starting to show where the toenail starts growth... looks like it may be curing that also."

05/02/2010: Gloria from Buffalo, New York replies: "This is my first time to this site and I realize that a lot of poeople are very desperate to find a cure or some relief, I haven't been diagnosed yet I have an appt with a skin specialist in june. It took that long to get the appointment. It started 8 months ago with a couple of bumps on my wrists and it stayed that way till about one month ago, now it is all over my body except my face and chest. it literally is all over my body and I really get no relief unless I scratch till it bleeds. Will my body be scarred like this forever? I had really good skin till this. I have seen a couple Drs but none knew what it was I looked at pictures on the web I have it in all the classic places, that is how I diagnosed myself. What is acv and all this vit d and etc what are the dose and how to apply and/or drink or gargle. please help."
05/03/2010: Gwendolyn from Littleton, Nh, Usa replies: "Hello Doug, Rawy, Gloria,
I also was diagnosed with Neurodermatitis which another term for Lichen Planus thru a skin biopsy. The Dermatologist now says I have Eczema and to live with it. I can not stop scratching it's unbearable and I feel like my skin is crawling and recently I would feel like I was getting bit. I started following Ted's recommendations. Raw apple cider vinegar 2 tbls with 1/8 to 1/2 tsp. of baking soda with a little water. Try to do this twice a day. I also have been taking 1/8 Borax (20 Mule Team) NOT BORIC ACID very important in 1 liter of distilled water. Drink thru out the day and when finished continue with good drinking water. This kills any "nanoinsects" I tried the methylene blue also read about this on this site! I have had this condition for at least six years. And am very anxious for it to be gone. Most of my Doctors have said it was caused by stress. Not giving me much hope and thank goodness I found this site. This is the first time in years that I feel like my skin is getting better. I feel like I have three different skin conditions going on. Yes I have eczema, but there are also patches of tiny bumps like a hives rash. The last is these red painful bumps that sometimes turn into pimples. If I don't scratch they go away. I may have parasites and this is causing the third condition. I have also started a candida free diet. Body Ecology is a good place to start. Also recommended is a thing called the zapper.Google it. Let me clarify Do the borax 4 days on 3 days off or every other day. Methylene blue I do eveyday and apply to skin this is a .01% solution with Vitamin C also.read about this!. Apple Cider Vinegar I try to do everyday!!! This has really helped! I also tried applying it to my skin. Burns and then helps with the itch. Another thing to help with itch is a high dose of Vitamin C (asorbic Acid!!!! only)5000 mg to 10,000 mg a day. I hope this helps Read all the Eczema posts! and Methylene blue. I'm also trying Tumeric for the red scars to heal! I'm also a user of food grade Hydrogen Peroxide but have not been using it during these methods but plan to go back to it soon!
I know your suffering and hope this helps!
Gwendolyn"
05/04/2010: Gwendolyn from Littleton, Nh, Usa replies: "In my above post I confused Lichin Planus with Lichen Simplex Chronicus! So sorry for this but one could try these rememdies, they are inexpensive and may help. I agree it starts from within and cleansing is always good."
02/15/2011: Quinn from New York, Ny replies: "Hi Gwendolyn, please clarify, I have lichen planus and I hear so many mentions of Borax (20 mule team) if I am not mistaken this is a laundry or cleaning powder? Are you saying drink this? I am not opposed, I just need to know if this is a part of the formula you are suggesting. I am simply looking for some sort of a solution to kill the parasites that invade the body causing these rashes to continue living. Thank you"
09/08/2011: Irina from West Orange, N.j. replies: "I got lichen planus 8 months ago. Nothing helped until the doctor prescribed Clobex ( Clobetasol Propionate). The suggestion was to use this spray two times a day for two weeks. I only had to do this procedure for three days before the rash went away. I strongly recommend this medicine even though it is very costly. My doctor gave me a coupon which enabled me to only have to pay $140.00. I suggest if you have this problem to use this product as it is well worth the cost. Good luck!"

WET CLOTH

[YEA] 05/06/2007: Patrick from Fermeuse, Canada: "Lichen Planus of the skin. I have tried numerous steroids with temporary relief. There was always a re-occurance. The best home treatment is to apply a wet cloth to affected areas. Allow the cloth to remain on the lesions for at least twenty minutes. Repeat this treatment three times daily. Significant improvement noticed. Itching completely stopped."
